Cocktailbar & Restaurant Botanero in Rotterdam Centrum

We had a really delicious meal; the tacos were different from what we're used to. Not hard and crispy, but more like a small pancake. The taste was very good, especially the fillings were superb. We ordered 3 tacos per person with some tasty nachos on the side. Apparently you can also order nachos separately, because the waiter asked if that would mean three; the price is listed per three on the menu. The cocktails are supposed to be good too, though we didn't order any. Nice place to sit and good service 👍

Dropped into this establishment for the second time on Saturday. Another great experience! Delicious dishes to share and reasonable prices. The atmosphere and service were perfect. Just one small suggestion: the music could be a little softer. See you soon! Tip: definitely order the Birria.

Go on sunday for their weekly unlimited taco special - it is divine! Tasted so many different tacos and they were all very flavorful and delicious. They also have a very big menu of all kinds of cocktails, tried some of them and they are all well made. You can also ask the staff for recommendations, they have a lot of knowledge about the drinks and food!

Fantastic experience this Dice Thursday. Had a delicious meal, small dishes but full of flavor. All cocktails really perfectly balanced, not made with fake syrup. Absolutely top-notch!

This is a really nice place to have drinks and some tasty snacks! The cocktails (they also have mocktails, by the way) are truly amazing, and they are happy to listen to your wishes to create a custom cocktail. Tip! Thursday is 'Dice Thursday,' and you can even get a free drink if you roll a six—how fun!

Delicious food, and a level of service that is hard to find in the Netherlands: friendly but not pushy, gave suggestions and always came quickly. The Piña colada is basically and alcoholic desert, and the Sweet potato fries are crunchy. 10/10

Place is always packed for a reason! An impressive selection of cocktails (if you like it hot, try their spicy cocktails, they're delicious 😋) And with the food, there's something for everyone, from tuna to vegetarian or perfectly cooked beef and more. It's worth trying many dishes; the flavors really pop. Super fun in a group, well decorated, and attentive personal. Will come again!

The food was really nice. I am mexican and it reminded me of home with a twist. It has the mexican flavours with fussion. The taco sunday deal is amazing. Just make sure to bring great company to keep ypurself entratained for the 2 hours. The staff explained every dish wich makes a huge difference for people that dont know the food.

Horrible experience. Waiters had a bad attitude, especially the girl with long brown hair and a bun on top, and the girl with short hair and blonde highlights. We understand it’s busy, but we came in with 8 people and left 200€ at your place. First of all, we were squeezed to TWO (!) small square tables with 8 people, which would normally be for 4. They straight up told us to give up a table, no apology and very rude tone. Even though there were plenty of other available tables, so they didn’t have to do this. Afterwards, those two ladies kept walking around our group and making passive aggressive eye contact before eventually asking us to leave. This is not how should you treat a group that has spent so much money, only to be kicked out. We were uncomfortable the whole time and will definitely not be coming again. Change your bad and racist attitude and check on your employees for this poor service and rude behavior.

Botanero is a wonderful place (one of the best cocktail bars in Rotterdam) where you can drink the best cocktails and eat super Latin American food! The tacos are top-notch, the Birria taco is one of my favorites, and the Carne Asada with tortillas is unbelievably good. The staff is top-notch, super nice and sweet; the bar is my favorite spot. One of my favorite places in Rotterdam!! A solid 10.

I'm not Mexican, but I love Mexican food. They have the best birria and other tacos here. I really loved it. I've been more than once and I always leave happy. The cocktails are great, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend it.

We had a delicious meal here! Lots of options, including very tasty vegetarian dishes. The cocktails were delicious too! I found the service very friendly, but there was sometimes a long wait (although it did look quite full).

Great place to hang out and have some bites and drinks, untill it's getting every seat is taken and the noise becomes too much to hear yourself thinking. Eventually we left because of that. Otherwise nice place to be.

An amazing bar to spend a night! We were a bigger group (13 people) - with a reservation, the place was happy to accomodate us and we had an amazing time. The food is also top tier! I specifically recommend the cheezy beef tacos. All of the tacos are gluten free!! The cocktails are also quite delicious, but all of them have a "twist", which is why they might not taste like your usual ones. Overall, great service, great atmosphere, great food. Loved it 🔥

The mezcal sour was great, the Paloma a bit too sweet for me, but it is a cozy cocktail bar with Latin American vibes.

A vibrant place with friendly service and truly delicious tapas dishes. We had a portion of ribeye to make our own tacos, and it was truly delicious. The reposado agave old-fashioned was also delicious. Reservations are recommended, as it can get a bit busy.

This time, everything went wrong. She couldn't find my reservation, and I wasn't allowed to sit where I wanted, even though there were several free tables. The food and drinks arrived very late and in the wrong order: dessert first, then the croquettes. But the manager resolved it with sincere apologies and a voucher for next time.

Great place, good information about Mezcal tequilla and the cocktails

Food isn't home made, prefab. And the portion size is very small. The tortilla's were cold and NOT home made for sure. Really tough.. Same like a wrap you buy at the supermarket. I had Taco lechon.. pulled pork, supposedly slow cooked for 12 hours. It did not taste like that.. More mushy, no texture. Also the hard porc on top, the chicharron. Not home make. Server was nice though..

We discovered this cocktail bar today and absolutely loved it. The vibe is great – relaxed but stylish – and you can really see how much effort has been put into creating the place, especially the cocktail menu. It’s creative, well thought through, and clearly made with passion. But what truly makes this place stand out is the staff. Caring, genuinely friendly, knowledgeable about what they’re serving, and really paying attention to guests. Compared to other places in Rotterdam, the service here is exceptional. We’ll definitely be back! 🍸

Best margaritas in a Mexican restaurant outside of Mexico so far! The service is very friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious! In a trendy neighborhood like this, a visit on a balmy summer evening might be even more recommended, but we certainly made it a warm evening inside in the middle of winter!

Food is great but what tops it off is the amazing staff. We were here on a Sunday and the staff is kind and enjoy working there. Would def recommend and cannot wait to go back 🩷

Stopped by on a Friday evening. Reservations are recommended as almost all tables were taken. Food and drinks were served quickly. The mezcal margarita was excellent. We shared the nachos, which came with homemade crisps, guacamole, salsa and cheese sauce. The guacamole was fine, but not my favourite. The salsa was very good and nicely spicy. The cheese sauce lacked flavour and did not taste much like cheese. The birria tacos were good, although quite greasy. The fish tacos were excellent; could have easily eaten more. Service was great, with one server being especially friendly and taking the time to explain each menu item. Overall, a very enjoyable visit and would come again.

Food was delicious! Our faves were the confit duck and the léchon tacos. All ingredients appeared to be very fresh and most everything appeared to have been made on-site. Even the churros, which I greatly appreciated! Too many restaurants defer to frozen churros, sadly. Cocktails were also really good, though I would have appreciated a non-alcoholic margarita option!

Amazing experience at Botanero. We went for the option of all you can eat tacos and what a great decision. The offer options of vegan or vegetarian, meat (chicken and beef) and/or fish tacos. All different flavors and truly delicious 🤤 highly recommend!!! 10/10 Staff is super fun, taking the time to explain each taco!! 10/10 service. Thank you Gabriel for being an incredible service!!

My girlfriend celebrated her birthday here; first we had dinner with family and then drinks with 25 people. The food was fantastic; something for everyone and tasty snacks to share. The croquettes, chicken quesadilla, and fish taco are especially recommended. The drinks were also great; delicious cocktails, mocktails, daiquiris, and also just good coffee and beer ;) In short, something for everyone! We had our own little corner, and the tables were already set up when we arrived. The service was also great; Gabriel and the others took great care of everyone and were always ready. My girlfriend has loved coming here for years, and I definitely recommend hosting a party here!

We came here on a Friday evening as a large group of colleagues, almost 20 people, and luckily—despite having a reservation inside—we were able to find a spot outside thanks to the lovely weather. Following the waiter’s recommendation, I ordered a Paloma, and it was truly delicious—lightly sweet, easy to drink, and very refreshing! I even ordered a second one. We shared some nachos to start. They were tasty, but I was expecting something with ground meat—instead, it came with just cheese sauce, spicy sauce, and chips. For taco, I had ‘Birria’ —the pulled beef and the melted cheese, and it was delicious. The service was a bit slow and there were a few mix-ups here and there, but considering it was a busy Friday night and we were a large group, I think it was all within an acceptable range.

Fantastic place! Staff is super friendly and knows a lot about the different Mezcals and Tequilas on the menu, can also give nice and good advice for a tasting (tequila can be nice, what?!?). Incredibly delicious food too, best nachos in town! All cocktails we had were very special and tasty, we will definitely come back :)

The best paloma in the world. Yes, the world. Botanero is an incredibly cool cocktail bar specializing in mezcal. The paloma is made entirely by hand. I don't mean mixing the cocktail. No, everything is made by hand and you can taste it. The staff is super chill and you can indicate which type of cocktail you like and you will get good advice! The food is also very tasty. They also have special al pastor taco days.

We’ve been to Botanero several times and it’s turning into our go to place for a great night out. Every time we’ve been it’s been fantastic. Great atmosphere, really friendly and attentive staff (got some great recommendations for Mezcal!), awesome cocktails and great tacos! Highly highly recommend!

Last Saturday we did a Spirit (tequilla) tasting with about 9 people as a friends outing. It was a lot of fun and 100% recommended! With lots of laughter in between, we learned more about the Botanero restaurant, the history of tequilla and the drink itself. Careful consideration was given to serving water and snacks in between. After the tasting we of course stuck around for more cocktails and 2 more tequilla drinks. David - our tequilla pourer that evening - thank you so much. It's a night for the books! See you soon ;)

The spicy margarita is SOO GOOD

Went to Botanero on the occasion of two friends' birthdays. The place looks great, but the overly loud music ruins the atmosphere. Although we really enjoyed our meal, this place has one major Achilles heel: the price/quantity ratio. The quality is fine but the portions are unreasonably small. When we asked if we could get a plate of nachos, we were told that they were not served in the restaurant but only on the terrace. Ultimately, you order almost two full main courses for everyone and you are more than 300 euros lighter. All in all, highly recommended if you are not on a budget and are a very small eater. Otherwise I would advise people to look elsewhere.

Very bad service. I arrived at 8.30pm and my friends were already there. I asked to add a table as the one where my friends were sitting was too small, but the waiter told me that she could use the other table for other customers (the place was more thank half empty). When I asked for cutlery I was told that usually they don’t serve cutlery to whom orders only tacos, but eventually she “made an exception” and I had to ask again for a napkin. Food was okay.

Visited on a Friday night and it was completely rammed with people at 22:00. Staff were very polite and well organised. They managed to find us a table about 15 minutes after arriving. Cocktails and wine were great and the price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it if you need a popular location.

We were placed at the bar, the manager was at the bar that evening. What a nice lady! She also let us have a nice chat together, but also came to have a chat, gave us tips and advice about the cocktail and taught us a bit 😊

A real disappointment. Looking forward to drinking a unique mezcal or tequila. However, the staff has no idea what is available beyond the 5 items on the menu. Asked for someone with experience with the drink, but this was not possible. Then ordered some tacos and a main course. Tacos were good and tasty. The “sous vide chicken in mole” turned out to be a piece of fried chicken with a small dollop of mole on the side. Indicated that we thought this was a shame and did not understand why the menu did not match the dish. The boy serving did his best but didn't really know what to do with it.
