I visited this café almost every morning for a week. I was always treated very well by all the women who work there. However, today (06/07 at 9:40 a.m.), I was treated very poorly by the young man who was working. First, I didn’t know the café doesn’t accept cash, and I didn’t understand when he told me they didn’t accept it, since English is not my first language. When I tried to hand him the cash a second time, he immediately changed his attitude, looked visibly annoyed, and was quite rude, even though I was being completely polite. After that, I ordered a coffee but didn’t know that customers are expected to collect their own drinks from the counter. They don’t explain this, nor do they call out your name. On every previous visit, the women working there had brought my coffee to my table. When I politely asked where my coffee was, the young man simply told me it was at the counter while giving me an unpleasant sideways look. It was a very disappointing experience, especially after having such positive experiences at this café throughout the rest of the week.

Today, on July 6, 2026, my friend and I were treated very poorly by a young man working here around 9:40 a.m. We felt uncomfortable and intimidated by the way he treated us. This was my third or fourth time visiting this place, and the women who have served us on previous visits have always been kind, welcoming, and professional. Unfortunately, today’s experience was completely different. The employee was very rude, served us burnt bread, and never brought my friend’s coffee. After waiting for quite a while, my friend had to go and ask for it himself, and the employee responded by giving him an unpleasant look. We are visitors from another country. We always try to be polite, respectful, and friendly, because that is part of our culture. We certainly did not expect to be treated this way. Despite this disappointing experience, I would like to congratulate the other female staff members, who have always treated us with kindness and made us feel welcome. Their excellent service is the reason we kept coming back

The café is a harmonious and beautiful place, tastefully decorated, and offers an excellent selection of breakfast, coffee, matcha, and other delicious food. All in all, a perfect place to have breakfast and enjoy the beauty of Amsterdam.

Got a medium iced matcha. When received looked more like milk with added molecules and concepts of matcha. When i asked for a little bit more, the rude manager said “that is the ratio, have a nice day”. Don’t come here unless you want to get scammed out of 7 eur. I could make better matcha at home! They should rename this place cheapskate-company.

The iced matcha latte does not taste like matcha, it looks and tastes like (slightly green) milk. When we asked to put a little bit more matcha in it, we were greeted by a very rude and unpleasant manager. I paid 7 euros for a medium cup of milk. If you are gonna charge ridiculous prices, then at least make sure that the drinks are worth it.

The atmosphere I was chasing in Amsterdam as a young girl. Very warm staff, order was very quickly done and the poppy lemon loaf felt like a really comfortable blanket for my soul.

A lovely little café with a cozy atmosphere and great food. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality offered. Great food, great service, and excellent value for money.

The iced masala chai beverage was amazing, one of the best iced chai’s I’ve had In a while! Amazing little shop, staff is friendly!

Good coffee and really nice croissant! It has some places over the city and this one it's really nice, located near a park, some spaces inside and outside. Good service and relax. Ambient it's really nice.

Nice selection of coffee specialties. Great selection of cakes. Fair prices. Seems to be a student haunt (university opposite). It's a bit quieter sitting on a side street; the café was busy. A few cushions on the outdoor chairs would be nice. Dog-friendly.

Today at 4:40 pm I walked to the coffee company and it was already closed... While it said 6:00 pm. Very strange.

The atmosphere is very pleasant; there are many university students. I didn't speak English very well, but the staff were very friendly—thank you so much for my kimichi toast!

This review is representative of several branches I visited last week. I was truly impressed by the consistently perfect and delicious espresso. I haven't experienced anything like it at any other chain. Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended for anyone who enjoys espresso.

Small Space, Big Coffee Energy Coffee Company proves that you don’t need much room to achieve greatness – at least when it comes to coffee and cake. The selection is a bit on the “short & sweet” side, but every choice is a solid hit. The cake is excellent, the portion sizes pleasantly generous, and definitely not for anyone who claims they “just wanted a tiny bite.” The coffee? Top-notch. The kind of caffeine kick that makes you feel ready to reorganize your entire life – or at least a small apartment – after two sips. The bathroom, however… let’s put it politely: “shows potential.” A bit in the category of student flat chic, but judging by the clientele, that seems perfectly acceptable. Big plus: the staff! Friendly, helpful, and always ready with a recommendation – whether it’s which cake is the winner of the day or where to position yourself in a café that’s roughly the size of a cozy city studio. Bottom line: Small, charming, delicious – and the coffee makes up for anything the bathroom might lack visually. A warm, welcoming spot… provided you can snag a seat.

The waiter is a racist; he treated us badly for not speaking his language. Poor thing, he thought we were Italian.

I was very impressed with what was on offer here. The coffee and croissants are fantastic, and the strawberry matcha latte I had was particularly delicious. While we didn't have to wait for a table, the place fills up quite quickly, which explains its popularity. I look forward to returning and highly recommend this place to others.

A place I found very welcoming and pleasant. The decor is simple and very homey. The cafe is very well-kept and good. The pain au chocolat I had was also good. I'll go back if I have the chance.

It's located in a nice place. The coffee isn't bad. Place is ideal for working. However, even though it says on the door that it closes at 6 p.m., they forced us to leave at 4 p.m. Nothing about this was mentioned when buying the coffee.

I can't even get started of how good this coffee is. The coffee is foamy but the right amount of bitterness and that extra calming sensation of milk. And the pastries, oh the pastries, were amazing! I had the Portuguese custard tarts and they were perfection! They had that nice crispy outside, but on the inside it has a flavorful custard filling.

Cozy cafe with outdoor and indoor seating. Service is quick and nice staff. The drinks are a little steeply priced but nonetheless good. The indoor area is quite suitable for studying as well. Lactose free milk alternatives are available for no additional cost (oat, almond, coconut).

I think €6.30 for a small iced latte with an extra shot of mediocre espresso is on the expensive side

Consistently had a great coffee for three days straight, wonderful to have it next to my hotel. Staff was always very friendly.

I bought my own cup for a takeout cappuccino—would’ve hoped they were more upfront as to remind me beforehand that my cup was way too small for a medium. Instead, the staff just looked at my cup and said “yeah that would fit” and I ended up paying way too much for what I get :(

You come to get coffee but it seems that you order a pork knuckle. 15 minutes to get your cup of coffee at 9am. Unfortunately.

Unfortunately, the inside was logically full of students. You can also sit outside.

Not sure why the girl serving me was so grumpy. When it was ready, she just put it on the counter and walked off. Coffee was ok, but there are enough other coffee options around with staff that actually care.

Early-open coffee shop. The atmosphere hangs between pleasant and dull. Coffee with 'hassle' stop while there was hardly any demand. Once ready, you will be called to come pick up your coffee. It could just as well have been delivered (15 guests in total, no one at the counter) but it will not be in accordance with the concept and/or the employee is fine with it that way. Doesn't hurt the mood of the 2 employees: cheerful types. That's why 4 stars.

Cosy cafe. People are friendly and speak fluent English. If you are looking for a cafe in this area, you should check this one!

Amazing coffee and possibly the best staff ever

The young staff behind the counter apparently only have eyes for each other and people they know... Apparently it is quite normal here that when you are ordering you are cut off several times to say hello or even start a whole conversation with others. Where is the decency?

Basic breakfast menu: 7 euros freshly squeezed coffee, croissant. All good, linear service, welcoming environment. The guys don't try very hard to understand your requests well, but rightly so many of us are tourists who will be a little annoyed.

Very cozy place with pretty good coffee. The coffee place is open early in the morning and we consider it as a huge benefit when you want to go out sightseeing earlier :)

Coffeecompany shop closest to UvA’s Roeterseiland campus. It’s small inside so it’s more suitable for a chat with colleagues than for study or work. The Outdoor tables are great when the weather is fine.

I'm not a huge coffeecompany fan, but this location of theirs is cute.

Had a long black … honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had. I don’t know if all coffee in Amsterdam is just like this, but I was honestly blown away.

Leuke coffee company, fijne locatie en lekkere koffie! Bestelling was verkeerd gegaan en de barista maakte snel en gratis een nieuwe koffie :) enige minpuntje is dat je hier niet echt gezellig kan kletsen, er is een grote tafel waar mensen met hun laptop zitten en de bankjes zijn niet heel comfortabel. Buiten wel een fijn terrasje !

Overpriced Starbucks wannabe with derisive service. Chocolate drink was from the suoermarket variety. Only plus, newspapers available. Go to a Dutch coffee place instead.

It's a really cozy place, kind of limited in the food parts, but still very nice.

Great coffee shop outside of the extremely busy tourist district where you can get a cup (or two) and read or listen to tunes without too many distractions. One of the few cafes that are open relatively late.
