The experience was amazing! From the service to the food. The service of Simona was impeccable, we had a bee problem and the waitress was so helpful and considerate. Totally recommend sitting next to the canal and enjoying some cocktails.

Herman Brood must be turning in his grave. Wasn't Dante an icon of Amsterdam ? Went there for the first time in 10 years I guess... Ordered a vaasje (beer!) and a ginger beer. I'm not native, but usually never have someone missunderstand me when I ask for a vaasje .... Waitress came back with a ginger beer and a old fashioned ...... Told her I wanted a beer, she pointed at the ginger beer and looked at my like I was an idiot and put both drinks in front of us. Told her I wanted a vaasje ..... she was lost. Asked another waiter ... never heard of a vaasje  ..... asked the barman .... never heard of a vaasje. I coud not believe it. None were Dutch or spoke it. I mean all of them were friendly but still... Eventually got my beer, but could not find at first how to pay without tip. The machine to pin had a screen with the amount and tips options (from 20% down to 5 maybe) all in bold. And in small letters at the bottom 'no tips' Pretty sure most people miss it....

The place is ok but shabby, in a touristy place. I ordered a simple burrata salad and it was a desastre, smelled like a puke. They put some shity sause, instead of a bit of olive oil and a real balsamic, and that ruined everything. It's a shame how an italian restaurant managed to make it so bad with such basic ingredientes. Not recommended. The waiter was attentive though.

This place is a complete disaster. We arrived as a party of two and were told we could sit wherever we wanted. We decided to sit inside. The tables weren’t clean, and neither were the seats. After waiting for 15 minutes, we asked the waiter if we could get the menus. He responded with a dismissive nod. Once we received the menus, we were ignored for another 15 minutes. The final interaction with the waiter was when he very rudely asked us to move to a different table – and as we stood up, he already snatched the table away right in front of us. At that point, we left and went to Fishfood Bar (just 3 minutes away) – a top-notch restaurant!

While shopping I got a craving for a really tasty pizza. Unfortunately, many 'Italian' 'restaurants' in the center are really not authentic (pasta carbonara with cream 🙄), we did not know Dante yet. And very happy that we tried it. Delicious bruschetta eaten and super tasty pizzas. One with burrata and one with truffle cream. Very friendly service too. Definitely a place to go back to for us.

Visité este encantador café por casualidad cuando buscaba el almuerzo. Sentado en el patio bajo el cálido sol. La ensalada Burrata estaba deliciosa. El marido había tirado de sándwich de cerdo que venía con patatas fritas. Excelente servicio. El interior de la cafetería es muy elegante, con las filas de botellas en la pared del bar.

Visited this lovely cafe by chance when looking for lunch. Sat on the patio in the warm sunshine. The Burrata Salad was delicious. Husband had pulled pork sandwich that came with fries. Excellent service. The cafe interior is very elegant with the rows of bottles on the bar wall Recommend!

Restaurant with bland dishes, probably just thawed. The pasta is expensive for what it tastes like in a pasta box. The service, on the other hand, is a bit pushy and not very helpful.

bad wine, high prices for dry food

Very bad service. The menu were given to us with no indication. Then, 10 minutes later, a waitress comes to take our order and start listing the very long list of what they do not have today ! I wish they told us before. It was litteraly half the menu missing ! Our dishes arrived 40 minutes later when I requested them to the same waitress who had just served another table whose order was taken after ours. And it is not the only tables whose order was taken after ours that was served before us ! And we understood why ! Our dishes were probably waiting for a whole. My daughter’s burger and its fries were cold, so was the bread of the bruschetta. She did not even try to ask us for a tip (which is normally handled by the card machine), so she at least is smart enough to understand she did a very poor job. Or maybe that was just intentional of her to serve is bad. Food was ok for the price I guess. The bottle of still water was very very very expensive !

Very long waiting time for the food and not everything was served together. The first plate was already cold when the rest came. Typical tourist check-in. The food is rather cheap. Salad without sauce and bread are charged separately.

We happened to walk past this restaurant with a group of about 12 people and decided to step in. The place looked nice at first glance, so we gave it a try. Unfortunately, that turned out to be the wrong choice. The atmosphere was tense from the start. The waitress looked stressed because of problems at another table, and things didn't seem to be going smoothly in the kitchen either. As a result, we had to adjust our order several times. What really made the experience unpleasant was the way we were treated as guests. The waitress started taking her frustration out on us and even accused us of having the wrong attitude. When we indicated that we found the long wait (over 50 minutes) for the food annoying, we were simply told that we should "go eat somewhere else". For us that was the final straw and we decided to leave. The owner denied that his staff was rude, but did threaten the police if we didn't pay. Of course we just paid, but we didn't expect an apology - at most a comment that it was "a misunderstanding". There are plenty of other nice places in the center where you will receive a hospitable welcome. We will skip this thing next time and I recommend others do the same if you want a relaxing evening out.

Very long service and the dishes are not of very good quality

Unfortunately, the quality of the pizzas we ordered was extremely disappointing! Ordered expensive Paradiso pizza with burrata from the special section. I was really looking forward to that. Instead of a burrata, there were 5 mini mozzarella on the pizza. When asked, the waiter said they were mini burratas!!! That was a disgrace because it was actually just mozzarella. I would never have paid €21.50 for that, especially since there were otherwise only 4 halved cocktail tomatoes and a dollop of pesto on the pizza. Far too expensive for so little performance, a huge disappointment for us! At the end, when we weren't willing to give a tip, the waiter slammed the receipt on the table and disappeared without a word. We definitely cannot recommend the restaurant. It's a shame, because the atmosphere there is actually very nice.

Very bad experience in this restaurant. Very unpleasant staff. “Italian” restaurant that served us undercooked pasta. Someone brought me expired cranberry juice. Once the waiter was informed, he left with my drink but never came back because he preferred to laugh for 45 minutes with other customers further away. (If you read my review sir, know that you are by far the most incompetent server I have seen in my life). Not to mention the waiting time obviously, they are in no hurry. Don't go there.

Good food and atmosphere slow service.

Entró y tuvo una cálida bienvenida, Ivan nos trajo a nuestra mesa y tomó nuestras chaquetas. Nos sentamos y antes de darnos cuenta Ivan estaba de vuelta con menús y pidiendo bebidas. Tengo las bebidas pedidas la comida. Tuvimos una charla de buen ambiente y música. La comida era increíble. ¡Y el servicio de Ivan hecho es un 110%! Volveré pronto.

I’d like to give a special shout-out to the service at this restaurant, especially to our waiter Ivan – hands down the best waiter in all of Amsterdam! From the moment we arrived, he made us feel genuinely welcome. He was incredibly polite, always smiling, had perfect timing, and knew the menu inside and out. Thanks to him, our dinner was not only delicious but also truly enjoyable. Service like this is rare – Ivan absolutely deserves the highest praise!

Servicio lento, la comida era sosa. Vinimos con amigos en la noche de San Valentín, y estaba muy ocupado, lo que era comprensible. Reservamos con antelación, pero tuvimos que esperar otros 20 minutos para nuestra mesa. Nuestro pedido de comida fue tomado alrededor de media hora después y luego esperamos 45 minutos más por nuestra comida. Las bebidas y cócteles eran geniales, y una buena selección para elegir. Sin embargo, la comida era pobre, bastante insípida y sosa, lo que era una pena. Era un buen ambiente, así que terminamos teniendo una buena noche de todos modos.

Came in and had a warm welcome, Ivan brought us to our table and took our jackets. We sat down and before we know Ivan was back with menus and asking for drinks. Got the drinks ordered the food. Had a chat good atmosphere and music. Food was amazing. And the service of Ivan made is a 110%!!! Coming back soon.

We ordered a plate of gnocchi and lasagna, the portion was tiny compared to the price, they should work on the cost-portion size

Absolutely delicious food, incredibly friendly service, and prices that are honestly too low for such a satisfying dinner. I usually don’t take the time to write reviews, but I truly have to recommend this place from the bottom of my heart. It’s a hidden gem — totally worth it!

I’ll just state in bullets our experience: • the water took 20 minutes to come to the table • the starter took another 15 • they brought the food and didn’t take the starter plates away, I had to stop the waiter and ask him to take the plates from our table • the food came (we didn’t have our cutlery and had to ask twice for it) AND they made a mistake on one of the plates (we were a party of 6) so we had to send it back. After all of us ate the person without her meal still didn’t have a plate and the waiter said it would still take another 5 (this was already stated before) • we asked for the deserts and asked for them to be quick. The waiter came back and there wasn’t any of our desserts left. We asked for the check. • the waiter asked if we had gotten the second bottle of water (we didn’t, they forgot to bring it). • the check came without any discount of complimentary food. Won’t come again and do not recommend people to go there (the food was good though, but the experience was pretty shitty).

Este es un restaurante elegante que está muy bien amueblado y decorado. Han utilizado mucho mármol, lo cual aprecio. El personal es muy acogedor, y los servicios son rápidos. Pedimos una pizza que estaba perfumada con trufas que era muy bueno y tenía un montón de ensalada de cohete fresco en él. La lista de vid por vidrio también fue responsable en grande con buenas alternativas. Como desierto teníamos canelones que era realmente delicioso. Esta fue una experiencia tan agradable que regresamos al día siguiente. Esta vez tomé lasaña y una ensalada mixta. Eso estuvo muy bien. Y tenía que tener los canelones como desierto de nuevo, ya que era fantástico.

No idea how this place gets a lowish rating. The food is excellent! The atmosphere was awesome and the service was quick and friendly! We were in Amsterdam for total of 3 days and we had two dinners here because the food was so tasty! Highly recommend Dante’s and would go back if I am ever back to Amsterdam!

Went to eat at Dante Kitchen & Bar tonight. Really nice service, nice atmosphere and above all delicious food. It was my birthday, got a delicious dessert from the business. Was a 10/10 evening. Thank you very much!

We just ate a 🍕 margarita and a Frita burrata, everything was delicious, the service was excellent thanks to the guys who work there and Martina 😊

Ordered the burrata and prosciutto and bitterballen as apps. Prosciutto was dry and butterballen was ok. The gnocchi with truffles and mushroom was overcooked and the cacio e pepe was nothing like a traditional cacio e pepe. The pepper was very grounded and fine. Nice atmosphere for drinks, but would not go back for food.

FOOD POISONING. after I ate the lasagna here i got food poisoning, and was sick for the next 3 days. The lasagna was not like any lasagna i have ever tried, without tomatosauce and some crumbles of meat. The others i dined with had pizza as well but again with no tomatosauce(?). Please reconsider going here.

went there on Saturday evening, one in the group ordered the bolognese lasagna. first of, the sause was white, no bolognese sause in sight, then when we left the restaurant 30 min later she had to stop to puke in the river. yeah shocker, she got food poisoning from it.

It was a great atmosphere and the service was really good! Nice and funny waiters, not pushing and really chill. We didn’t try food but the cocktails were really nice.

Disappointing brunch experience at Dante Kitchen & Bar. The food was bland and lacked presentation, calamari was just six plain pieces on a plate and the pasta was nothing but cooking cream and cheese. And then came the dessert to share, which makes no sense, ice cream isn’t meant for sharing in a brunch setting! How does even work for example if you’re not dining with your partner? The brunch included unlimited bubbles, but my fiancé only drinks beer. We really didn’t mind paying for two brunches with bubbles, but not even an alternative or complimentary one small glass of beer was offered. Overall, not worth it. Wouldn’t recommend. This is my response as I can’t reply on your below message - Having a good time with my partner doesn’t change the fact that the food was disappointing. My review was about the quality of the dishes, which lacked taste and presentation, and as I’ve already mentioned we know about the unlimited bubbles and we didn’t mind paying for it (I've been brunching since year 2000) but with no alternative or small gesture was offered. A great dining experience is about more than just the ambiance!

Was here last Sunday for brunch with unlimited champagne. The food was honestly a disgrace. The calamari came from the freezer and the vitello tonato had an aioli sauce on it instead of the tuna sauce that should be on it. The two pastas that followed tasted like gnocchi in warmed-up tomato sauce from a packet and the pasta al limone was simply linguini in cooking cream. The parmesan cheese was missing, no in fact I doubt the chef added salt and pepper at all. We were then served only 1 dessert per 2 people! Pistachio ice cream that tasted like vanilla ice cream. For 62.50 pp you really expect good food and at least your own dessert. A very nice concept, but the execution is worth crying over. 1 star for the DJ, the saxophonist and the service.

Good restaurant, with good products and choice, top staff.

The food was bland and very underwhelming. The chicken was old and tasted weird. The ribeye was overcooked and was served with a balsamic sauce that didn't pair well with it at all. The only good thing was the fries.

The experience was disappointing. The coke had no sting. The pizzas were tasteless and way too greasy. The atmosphere was okay, but nothing special. All in all, it didn't convince me, and I wouldn't eat here again.

Hicimos reservas - con una tarifa no reembolsable - para lo que esperábamos que fuera una agradable cena de Año Nuevo. Cuando llegamos nuestro servidor no podía haber estado menos comprometido / interesado. Nos informaron bruscamente que nuestra única opción era un menú fijo, sin más agua o bebidas que la mitad - vaso de Prosecco plano. Tuvimos que ir al bar y pedir otras bebidas. La comida consistía en tres platos de alimentos mal preparados que sabían como si hubieran sido preparados un día antes y dejados bajo una lámpara de calor durante 24 horas, o congelados cuando se servían. Hacia la mitad de la comida vimos a otros comensales comiendo pizza. Cuando preguntamos, nos dijeron que la pizza estaba de hecho disponible. Terminamos pidiendo y pagando por una pizza para llevar - además de pagar por tres comidas no comestibles. Si te emocionas con un menú en línea bien presentado, te decepcionará la ejecución.

I definitely, definitely do not recommend it. I have never seen waiters giving such poor service in my life. I didn't need to ask what his name was, especially the fat and bald one. You are a waiter and you get paid to serve. Do your job properly, learn to be polite to customers, and if you don't, go do another job. We ordered and they didn't even send a napkin (by the way, I can't finish telling you the trouble we went through while ordering)

Food was substandard. Too expensive for the poor quality you get on the plate. We ordered with 4. Everyone's food was cold to lukewarm. I myself had the lasagna. Normally served steaming hot. Here's a dollop of lasagna dropped on a plate and covered with parmesan and lukewarm. The daughter had gnocci with mushrooms and truffle. The truffle was nowhere to be seen/tasted. The mushrooms were reheated frozen mushrooms. Tasteless. The gnocci stuck together and could be counted on one hand. For the price of €25 you can expect something better. My husband had risotto. Cooked way too flat (but that still happens). Cheese flavor not present. But especially served cold. Whenever a comment is made about it, they come away with a jar of parmesan 🙄. The son had steak. It tasted good but was also cold. When something is said about this, the solution offered is to put the steak in the oven to warm up. (The medium rare would become a cobbler…). In short: not recommended!

Definitely not recommended! Risotto without cheese, ice-cold steak, gnocchi with frozen mushrooms and cold lasagna. And if you talk to the waiter about it, he says he wants to put the steak back in the oven. 🙄 When paying the high bill, I mentioned the poor quality again, but they don't care.

The food here is extremely delicious. The only problem here is the service and atmosphere. There were white wine glasses with our red wine that were also completely dirty; clean glasses were only available after we asked. The store was also very crowded and loud, which unfortunately totally killed the atmosphere.

Delicious food and a very friendly welcome. We ended up there for a cup of coffee in the afternoon. We liked it so much that we went back there for a hot meal on the way back! We were warmly welcomed and greeted, are you back again?! Despite the crowds, they have an eye for the guests! Recommended!

Disappointing experience at this restaurant. It seems different on the internet than in reality. I order Dante's club sandwich and get 6 white sandwiches with white chicken fillet and lettuce strung on a thick satay stick with 2 handfuls of chips (!) spread on the plate as a garnish for €16.50. I indicated in advance that I am allergic to tomatoes. I take one bite and to my horror I see tomatoes on my bread. The waiter takes it back to the kitchen and after almost 15 minutes of waiting, he arrives, but now I'm done with it and order pizza instead. The chef was very nice, personally delivered the pizza, apologized and I also got a coke from the company. The pizza was very sparsely topped. Nevertheless, we tipped the staff for their efforts. We were still hungry so we went to a better restaurant for dinner.

I sat down with a friend for a glass of wine. Suddenly, the woman at the table next to us starts vomiting profusely. When the weight staff tried to clean up the vomit, they started throwing buckets of water at it. The buckets of water started spraying all over the customers without warning and sending the vomit at everyone’s feet. Then My friend went upstairs to the bathroom and in the public area by the sink she saw a woman with her pants down, cleaning herself naked, she felt uncomfortable and could not use the restroom. we tried-to ask the manager for a discount because we got sprayed with vomit water and had an uncomfortable experience in the restroom, she told us rudely that it was out of her control. She was not at all sympathetic for the experience, and was rude. We left without finishing our wine or the bottle of water we paid for because of the bad situation.

Everything there is delicious, the pizzas are prepared with a lot of care, even when the restaurant is full the waiting times are pleasant, the service is incredible as they are committed to ensuring that your visit is pleasant and satisfying for you, they immediately offered me a chair so my son could eat comfortably. They even offered to put the cart away so it wouldn't take up our space at the table. We are regular customers so will clearly return to continue enjoying this wonderful restaurant. Once again thank you

Unfortunately I can't give a good rating, service was completely overwhelmed, we just wanted to drink a beer, despite asking several times, since all the other guests around us were being served, we didn't get our beer. After more than 30 minutes we left. There are plenty of alternatives, you can really save yourself the Dante.

Very expensive dishes for what they are, given that they are frozen. Small quantity and dish that arrives lukewarm. The quality of the products was not good, even the Picard lasagna is better. A bottle of water for €7.25. Let's not talk about the extremely tasteless decor and the plastic sheets in the middle of the table. Don't go there at all

Big "Pub" is clearly not preferred by the locals. Mostly Italian cuisine!

After strolling around, we were hungry and decided to try this restaurant. Even though it was busy, we managed to get a table for four. The table setting gave off a fine dining vibe. We ordered the roasted chicken and lasagna. My roasted chicken was a bit dry but still flavorful—I do wish it came with some gravy on the side. The lasagna looked different from what we expected, as it didn’t have the usual tomato-based sauce, but my friend said it was delicious. The service was superb, with the waitress checking on us regularly. Definitely worth trying for dinner if you’re in the area!

The food in this restaurant was really excellent - fresh, tasty and served very quickly. I was impressed by the quality and efficiency of the kitchen. Unfortunately the service couldn't keep up. The service seemed stressed and was rather unfriendly, which spoiled the atmosphere a bit. Another negative point was the wrong glass for my wheat beer. This may sound like a small thing, but at a price of 9 euros, I expect details like this to be accurate - especially since I've seen other guests receive the correct glass. All in all, the restaurant is recommended because of the good food, but the service still needs improvement. With a little more attention and friendliness the experience would have been perfect.

Very pleasant bar/restaurant were here to have a drink, so I can't say anything about the food. However, the ones that came by looked very good. Very suitable and cozy for relaxing after a walk!

My friends and I were on our way to a delicious Indian restaurant further down the Spuistraat. We didn't make a reservation so we were out of luck. We walked on and came across this restaurant, it looked cozy and good. The starter was great, a nice beer and a glass of wine, nothing to complain about. Then, after quite a long time we got our main course. I ordered the risotto and received a plate with tomato puree and hard rice, the shrimp still tasted like the sea. I took a few bites and then pushed my plate back. My friends had pasta and pizza, both were disappointing. The pasta was half a portion, and the pizza was only sparsely topped. A tent to skip. A little something + drink probably won't disappoint. But you better not come here for your dinner.

We went with a large group (40 people) the day before the Amsterdam Marathon. The food was pre-ordered so the restaurant knew exactly how much to prepare. The picture is my plate before I even touched it (I have just gathered the pasta in the center). Ridiculously small! I had to go to another restaurant afterwards to eat properly. Shame because the food was good.

Bien posicionado y no demasiado caro, el servicio era bueno y amable, pero la comida era mediocre, a pesar del tiempo de espera de 20-30 minutos. Nachos a la Dante es solo un bocadillo desempaquetado (con un montón de adiciones laterales que bien pueden adaptarse a la noche de cerveza - solo para ser honesto) Cotoletta di Vitello es un schnitzel de Wiener hecho de vaca bien envejecida. Es casi imposible cortar con cuchillo servido, así que solicitamos el mejor cuchillo y finalmente ganamos la batalla. El sabor estaba bien, al máximo. Lasaña alla boloñesa era un plato sabroso, pero con un toque. Había algo dentro que no se estaba rindiendo al cuchillo servido también. Pero como ya teníamos el cuchillo especial, después de algún esfuerzo logramos cortar el problema : ) Creo que en el momento menos ocupado puede tener mejor suerte.

Bien situado pero muy lento servicio, el camarero olvidó nuestro pedido al menos 2 veces 🤤 Probablemente nos saltemos este en el próximo viaje a Amsterdam

We were sitting inside , and the doors were open all the time. It was very, very cold. When we asked for closure. The lady said that the owner did not agree. I ordered the midium steak. I got hard papatas and a dry steak. My friends received dry chicken and obviously old fries. After seeing the ad, I expected more. and it was worse than average. I don't recommend it. If you have the option to go somewhere else, go.

Pitiful service!!! Cocktails, aperitifs served at the same time as the dishes! Removing the plates while we are still eating. Italian??? The signature pizza was not cooked!! We do not recommend at all!!!!

Cute restaurant and not too packed when we visited! I ordered the chicken which was super tasty and juicy 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 I will be back for sure

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam, we were served exceptionally well and the food was delicious. I recommend stopping by pir Dante Kitchen & Bar. 🙌🏽

Been here twice. One came from early dinner and had pizza and carpaccio eith my husband. Today we had earm meal. 3 persons ordered the half chicken and the truffled beef. Both were very good although didn’t feel the truffle taste at all. Ambiance is beautiful and cozy. Service is not great, we felt the waiter was annoyed when we took a bit longer to decide what to order.

We ordered following foods and drinks: - Hot chocolate - Ice Tea - Loaded Nachos - Brownie Drinks and Food was very good. Only the homemade brownie was a bit dry and not as expected with am melted core. All in all a good place for a little snack in Amsterdam.

Very bad. We were bullied out. Me, my family and friends sat for a long time but were not helped. When we finally walked out the bar guys smiled at us. I didn't understand what was going on until we saw the large Ukraine flag outside. Apparently my friends were speaking Russian to each other and they had heard it. This way you clearly show who you are. We just spent our money on leather. Ordinary people have nothing to do with war. I'm not even Russian.

We recently visited this cafe. It was a big disappointment because we weren't served for long time, despite the fact that place was almost empty. Then we understood why - the food was disaster. Very dry sandwich, pasta overcooked and bolognese tasted like from cheap supermarkt. No attention at all during the whole evening. Table was dirty and never cleaned. Also, there hang a strange smell of old and burned food. Shortly - never again.

We attended this restaurant for a really special occasion and were met with horrendous customer service and tasteless food. Our food arrived at different times, one main meal arrived 40 MINUTES before the rest, to which we received the response “but you ate it right?” from the manager. The staff here are totally uninterested in providing any level of customer service. The lasagna couldn’t have been more bland if they tried. It’s shameful for them to advertise this restaurant as Italian. We had to ask to speak to the manager 3 times before he actually appeared and then proceeded to offer no realistic solutions to the problem. I wouldn’t waste your money here, it’s a total mood killer.

The Worst Service We’ve Ever Encountered – Absolutely Appalling! We came in simply looking to enjoy some drinks and desserts before heading to a movie. That’s it. But what we got was an experience we won’t forget – for all the wrong reasons. As we sat down, the waiter – a large, intimidating guy with a bold demeanor – approached us. Without a smile, without warmth, he abruptly asked if we were ready to order food. When we politely explained that we were only having desserts and drinks, his reaction was beyond unprofessional. He immediately snatched up the cutlery and menus from the table in the most aggressive and rude manner possible, leaving us speechless. His face made it abundantly clear he was furious we weren’t ordering a full meal. We completely understand that running a business is tough, but if this place wants to survive, they need to start with basic decency and service training. This was not just a lack of service—it was downright disrespectful. Businesses can only thrive if they build a loyal customer base, and that starts with treating people like human beings. The team needs training on how to offer a positive experience. Just a horrible experience all around.
