De Aethook in Herkenbosch

A real chip shop, nothing more. Don't go there for a menu, because it's not worth the money. I had the specialty, too much curry on the bao buns, nothing special, unfortunately.

Hospitable owner and friendly staff. We had a delicious toasted sandwich and chicken wrap. There's a wide selection of savory and sweet treats. You can sit comfortably indoors, or on the terrace in good weather. A disabled toilet is available. The Aethook is located near De Meinweg National Park, which offers wonderful hiking and cycling opportunities.

We hebben met ons gezin hier enorm lekker gegeten. De frietjes waren goed gebakken en werden geserveerd op mooie borden. We kregen de sausjes van friet speciaal los in aparte bakjes (we vroegen om de saus niet op de friet te doen en ze overtroffen de vraag). Het personeel was erg vriendelijk. Morgen gaan we op verzoek van onze zoon terug om daar zijn verjaardag te vieren.

The restaurant is a frituure which serves a variety of fast food usually based around chips but these are no normal chips they are really great chips unlike the chips served in the UK. The 'bucket' meals are served in a bowl and usually have chips with various meats and sauces. My favourite was chicken with satay and sweet chilli sauce which sounds strange but tasted wonderful. Prices are very reasonable for the food, beer and ice creams and they even do a nice English cup of tea. Although the menu is in Dutch the raw food is displayed in a chiller in the serving area which meant that we could point out what we wanted should the language gap be a problem.The staff all speak good English although the custom is almost entirely Dutch with an occasional German who slipped across the border. There are tables inside and under large umbrellas on the terrace. If you visit the Meinweg National park then this is the pace for lunch at weekends or dinner at night.

In itself it is quite nice to stay there. After all, besides the delicious food the place also gives a very clean impression and the people are very friendly. Unfortunately some prices are on the higher side.

A compliment to the Buckets! I tasted the Aethook bucket on Sunday. We already knew that your fries are very crispy. This bucket tastes really delicious, a taste like Big Mac but in a Bucket with delicious minced meat. Compliment!

We ate in the restaurant area of ​​the Aethook. The on-site menu was somewhat smaller than the online menu. A delicious meal. A three-course dinner costs 25 euros. Excellent price-quality ratio. Pleasant service. In short, nice food for a nice price!

Super vriendelijk en gastvrij ontvangen, heerlijk gegeten in deze nette en schone eethuis. Echt een aanrader.

Voor het eerst een bezoek gebracht om wat af te halen, omdat het vaste adres gesloten was. Wat opviel was het ongemotiveerde personeel (jonge mannen) die als haantjes achter de balie loopt en kopie gedrag vertoont in het zo ongeinterreseerd mogelijk overkomen. Er wordt gegooid met de snacks, weliswaar in bakjes, in de richting van de frituur. Eten dat klaar is, wordt achteloos op de balie gegooid. Jammer van deze bijzondere ervaring. Verder was de friet en snacks niets bijzonder, Sauzen zijn uit een pakje. Maar daar kun je ook weinig aan fout doen.

Zowel voor een frietje thuis als ook om even lekker weg van huis te eten is dit een aanrader.

Leuke locatie voor een eerlijke en lekkere hap. Eenvoudig maar smaakvol. Erg vriendelijk personeel.
