I was served with exceptional kindness, and the mix grill was outstanding — perfectly prepared and beautifully grilled. Their house‑brewed beer isn’t standard at all, which makes it uniquely delicious and a perfect match for the meal.

This is really more oriented towards drink than eating. The pictures of the food don’t reflect the lack of taste or freshness of the food. If you have been drinking or are going there to drink, it seems ok, but with the anaesthetic of alcohol it’s hard to zone out the screaming local drunks who smelt of urine. The staff are friendly but not really in control. Close to Albert Hein, which is handy to buy the Imodium that you will need the following day.

A lovely brewery with a great atmosphere and a relatively large selection of different beers. Every beer lover is sure to find something to their liking here. The service was very friendly and attentive during our visit. Unfortunately, the preparation and serving of the food took a little longer than expected, which is why I'm deducting one star. However, the food itself was delicious: The bitterballen were truly tasty and perfectly cooked. The breaded chicken fillet with panko breadcrumbs was also crispy, juicy, and very flavorful. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant with an excellent selection of beers and good food. With slightly faster service, it would definitely have been a five-star experience.

We went to this restaurant last night. Let's start with the service: slow and almost nonexistent. The waitress seated us, but didn't bother to clean the table, which was dirty. There was no customer service, and the service was extremely slow. Food: I ordered goulash, which was unappealing even from the smell. The taste was equally disappointing. We reported these issues to the manager, but he wasn't particularly concerned. Obviously, I won't be returning if I ever return to Amsterdam, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

The beer was worth it! We arrived at 9:15 p.m. and it was really quiet. The food came quickly, but it was slammed down on the table like there was no tomorrow. I had to wait 30 minutes before anyone even asked if I wanted another drink. The food was okay (burger and tarte flambée).

This is an absolute hidden gem in the centre of Amsterdam. With Mike Tyson 2.0 coffeeshop and bars down the road, this place leaves you full to tackle the night life of Amsterdam! The steaks are huge and delicious for the price, the chimchurri is amazing and I’d recommend the applied pie for dessert, with whipped cream topped with Oreo bits. Delicious and 10/10!!

The perfect place to taste the famous dutch croquettes (bitterballen) with delicious dipping. The outside benches allow you to relax with very good beer while watching Nederlanders fly by on their bikes.

They took care of our large group and it was amazing!

Not recommended. The salmon was not at all what was represented or pictured on the menu; it had a lot of bones. The server could not provide us with utensils at the time our food arrived. They said something about needing to wait for the dishwasher to finish; the place was not at all full. My sweatshirt was stained by junk on the edge of the table. Just stay away!

I visited on February 25, 2026. Enjoy carefully crafted beers and local cuisine at this historic brewery. It was a wonderful place to enjoy homemade beer in a historical setting, the site of a former monastery. Each beer was unique. "Witte Antonia" had a subtle coriander aroma and a crisp, bitter taste. On the other hand, the blonde ale "De Blonde Barbier" had a strong hop aroma and bitterness that stood out more than the fruitiness, making it a satisfying drink. For food, I had Bitterballen, a Dutch specialty. Crispy on the outside and filled with rich cream on the inside, it paired perfectly with the beer. [Notes/Advice] The hamburger was delicious, but the size was a little small, so those who want a more substantial meal might want to add a side dish. The restaurant was clean and inviting, making it a safe and recommended choice for seniors and travelers who want to quietly enjoy local flavors. The terrace seating was full, but there was still some room inside. AMEX was also accepted for payment.

Overall, we were disappointed with the experience. The meat (Argentinian beef) was partially burnt, both for me and for my son (kids menu steak). In addition, the dishes lacked seasoning and tasted quite bland. My wife had chicken, which was not burnt, but still lacked flavor. On the positive side, the fries were good.

Super nice food, but takes a bit long, our children got impatient about 70 minutes before the food came. And we had to ask about some of it because they had forgotten some of the things, a bit of a shame because the food is good and the place is cozy.

The food was pretty bad. I asked the waiter what was in the Croquettes, and he told me he didn't know because they bought it instead of making it themselves 😂 We got served 3 Caesar salads with no dressing. I asked, and he told us he would bring it. He then brought the oil and vinegar set for us to use 🥲. I explained that Caesar salad should be accompanied by a specific dressing with parmesan cheese etc, and he finally brought us that in 3 small bowls without spoons. Nice beer though!

Took a weekend trip to Amsterdam and stopped by De Bekeerde Suster for dinner and drinks. I will definitely return here, Alex was our bartender and was very helpful and kind!

We waited one and half hour for food service and we had to leave before eating anything.

We came here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. We had two of the best beers we’ve ever had, amazing bitterballen, and the service was exceptional. The wait was barely noticeable and our waiter was incredibly kind. It was a perfect way to spend our last night in Amsterdam :)

Do not book for a group!!! Reserved for a group of 7 people. After waiting an hour for the food, we asked how much longer it would take; the answer was: 5 minutes (only English-speaking staff). After an hour and a quarter, we asked again; they checked, and after an hour and a half, we were done. First, we asked the one English-speaking waiter to pay only for the drinks, then waiter number two was brought over, who subsequently brought the only Dutch-speaking waiter over, who also asked what he could do. By then it was 9:00 PM, two hours after the reservation time; we still had to eat. Unfortunately, there was no understanding; I first had to argue with three people just to be able to pay for the drinks, without any apology. They acted as if it was our fault. Do you want to start your evening off badly without food?? Then book here!

Worst experience since coming to Amsterdam. The staff were rude and left me waiting in the corner for an hour without taking my order. The one time the showed up after half an hour was when they asked what drink I wanted and they never even delivered that. It got to the point that after not seeing anyone for another half hour I left to find somewhere else to eat. Highly recommend not wasting your time here and finding somewhere else

We had made a reservation and were dining at the table we were guided to when a staff member asked us to move, claiming that the table was reserved. Understanding that there had been a misunderstanding during the guidance process, we moved to the table as requested. However, through a subsequent conversation between the staff and the customers at the next table, we realized that the initial explanation was not true. In reality, we were moved at the request of another customer. The bigger issue is that the process was extremely unpleasant, and the entire situation gave a strong impression that we were being singled out specifically to be moved. In particular, we could not help but suspect that this request was made simply because we are Asian. It is highly inappropriate for a staff member to move customers based on a false explanation, prioritize the demands of a specific customer, and exclude other customers. This is not merely a matter of service; it inevitably feels like discriminatory treatment. It was an even more disappointing and unpleasant experience as it was a dinner with my family.

For food I only had bitterballen and were not the best I had. My friend ordered chicken burger, he received beef - he kept it because was very hungry. The food taste is average. The service really disappointed me. I asked for the watermelon spritz - which in menu is visible as cocktails with red bull and sparkling wine. I received a watermelon red bull can. When I asked the waitress why a can and not a cocktail she said that’s the Watermelon spritz. I am sorry that I didn’t have the presence of spirit to ask her where is the wine. Anyway, the wrong order didn’t disappoint me as much as the fact that the waitress has no idea about what they serve. She was nice as a person, but as waitress left us a bitter experience. On the bright side she didn’t tax me the cocktail price, just the red bull.

First of all, it would be fair to apologize for some of my group's behavior throughout the evening… being a group of 10, some of us were a bit tipsy… I must say that the restaurant staff remained very professional at all times. Beyond that, the food was varied and very good (in my case, the salmon) and they had a very good selection of beers. Finally, the place was quite large and spacious. We will return, but next time under better circumstances. Thank you!

A brewery in the centre of Amsterdam. A large, spacious establishment. Affordable prices and a good grill menu. And most importantly, beer brewed on site. We had the tasting set and burgers. Overall, a good atmospheric place for both couples and groups. On the downside, the establishment needs renovation and good management.

€20 for a tiny, mass-produced burger made with frozen ingredients: a tomato lettuce leaf, a slice of cheddar cheese, and a frozen steak. We also had to pay €6.90 for water. The value for money was appalling.

The place was great. We arrived hungry after a long trip and needed somewhere to take shelter from the rain, and this place saved the night. The food was delicious and came quickly. We had a craft beer tasting, which was the highlight of the evening. Our favorite was the middle beer, a blonde ale with a pleasant flavor. We would definitely return for a pub night with friends. Bonus point: the waiter bore a resemblance to Vincent Van Gogh, which made the whole experience even more interesting, especially since the Van Gogh Museum is also located in the city. I wonder if they're related.
