Friday evening, the atmosphere in the restaurant and on the terrace is very pleasant. The music is pleasant, and the staff are very friendly and engaging with each other and the guests. My family and I had a delicious meal, including a main course and dessert. My partner and I ordered salmon and sirloin steak, followed by the banana layer cake and crème brûlée for dessert. For the children, we had a nice children's menu with a frinkandel and fried chicken, both with fries. Afterwards, they received a fun bear cup that they could choose and take home with them. We had a delicious meal and really enjoyed the excellent service, and we'll be back soon!

They don't even deserve a single star. The lunch we booked in advance turned out to be the biggest flop in Rotterdam. The wait time for the order to be taken by the unseen staff was only a prelude to what awaited us later. Three people were scurrying around like flies in a haze, because the staff's movements are indescribable; they couldn't manage five, maybe seven, tables. After ordering soup, we waited about half an hour and received it cold. The replacement was very quick by their standards, although the queues were served on chipped tableware, not to mention the lack of napkins. We waited another half hour for the expensive portion, and the same thing happened with at least one of the dishes. Cold eggs Benedict on toast was the height of ignorance. We didn't even bother to respond. I absolutely do not recommend this place. The staff is incapable of answering any questions competently. The food is very mediocre and cold. The coffee I was served spilled on the way in, and was served that way, without even wiping the cup and saucer with a napkin. I DO NOT RECOMMEND A VISIT TO THIS PLACE.

I returned on Friday after a long absence, and the service was perfect. I was quickly welcomed and helped by the staff, and thankfully, the food didn't take long either. Highly recommended for exploring a bit of Rotterdam!

The first person served wasn't friendly, but afterward, we were helped by a different lady who was more friendly. The food was meh; I would have preferred the tenderloin.

We only came for drinks. The waitress took our order, came back 20 minutes later to greet us again and take our order again, even though we had already done so 20 minutes earlier. Another 20 minutes later, our drinks arrived at some point. Once, and never again.

Friendly staf, attentive and nice. The food was ok, but enough choices to choose from. They even have lots of non-alcohol drinks, which was a treat. The setting inside was dark, but comfortable to sit inside, think in the winter even better. When it is nice weather, it is good to sit outside.

Terrible service. One of the waiters just chatting, staying idle and ignoring work. the place wasn't too busy, and yet it took 50 minutes just to get soup.

Great, cozy place! I was here with friends during Carnival and had the time of my life. Despite the crowds, we were helped incredibly quickly, and the staff were dancing their heads off; it was a really fun atmosphere. You had a great view of the parade and could get cocktails at the outdoor bar. The blonde woman behind the bar was super chill and gave me great tips on which cocktails were good. I'll definitely be back next year!

It all took just a little too long.

We ate here through a social deal. Four courses for €25 per person, excluding drinks. Good value, delicious food, and a nice atmosphere. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The service could have been a bit faster, as it sometimes took a while between courses. But we would definitely return and recommend it.

We had a wonderful meal at De Beren Rotterdam-Centrum! The food was delicious and arrived surprisingly quickly. The service was prompt and attentive, just what you'd expect on a night out. Highly recommended: try the seasonal strawberry tiramisu dessert. Delicious! We'll definitely be back.

Had a really fun afternoon at the summer carnival. The staff were very friendly and even danced occasionally.

Unfortunately, it was our first and last time at De Beren in Rotterdam. We had to wait an hour for our main course, and it was burnt and very dry. Very disappointed! I've never experienced anything like it.

The chicken satay tasted fine. The fries weren't as good as usual, which might have been due to the grease.

Food was very cold and not appetising. No love put into the dish and very overrated. Looks like dog food to be honest. Restaurant looked inviting and had a cool vibe, good service too. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend it.

We were helped immediately upon arrival. The timing between choosing our food and drinks, ordering, and receiving them was excellent. Friendly staff and good food.

A word of warning: please watch your belongings. A beggar on the terrace stole our phone. Otherwise, the service was okay. The ladies and gentlemen couldn't do anything about it. AGAIN, PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR ITEMS. This ruined our evening.

The atmosphere is very cozy. We sat outside in a relaxed atmosphere and didn't have to wait for a table. The food was very good. Unfortunately, it took a while to arrive. So you should probably plan on having some time, even if the place isn't completely full. One star deducted for the long wait.

Our visit for lunch was terrible. We had soup and some sandwiches. We got the soup after 20-25 min and sandwiches after an additional 50 minutes. In total, we waited over 1h15 min for lunch. No apologies, and even after a couple of reminders, waiters stop looking at us like we did something wrong. Just don't go, plenty of other places that actually appreciate your business.

During a day out with my sister we decided to eat at the Beren Rotterdam Centrum. We had been to other branches before, and the food was always fine. Today we decided to choose a three-course menu for 30 euros per person. The courses were all delicious and the choice was ample. The portions were also certainly sufficient. The staff was super nice! Because we were on the early side, we were also allowed to choose a table ourselves.

Delicious satay and super friendly service

Me and two other guys stood at the entrance for over five minutes, respecting the “wait to be seated” sign. It was clear the staff had no intention of accommodating anyone. So I opened the Google reviews and saw the 3.8-star rating, with several complaints about the food quality.. not worth the price and nothing remarkable. So I left, and I noticed they did too.

Very slow service. Service does not look around when you ask for attention to place an order. It took a very long time to prepare our food apparently. The food itself was certainly not great, especially the quantity certainly not sufficient for the price you pay. Additional drink order was still not there after 25 minutes. So we paid and asked to remove the undelivered drinks from the bill. We sat on the terrace and service inside would be faster... which is absolutely unacceptable. Left with no feeling of satisfaction and still thirsty. Very sad and not to be repeated.

Great food, good portions, but inattentive, poor service

I have mixed feelings. I've been there twice for a burger - the first day it was one of the best I've ever eaten. The next day it was very average, rather burnt, not seasoned enough. It's partly because they're so busy. The staff doesn't know what to put their hands in. In Poland half of the waiters would quit their jobs, maybe only the Ukrainians would manage (I know what I'm talking about; I know gastronomy well), and here after many hours - although lost - they're still smiling. I think I've only seen similar enthusiasm, with such a high traffic, among young people in Greece. Regardless, I recommend visiting. The toilet is clean. Unfortunately, there's no changing table or we couldn't find one.

You order a pinsa and receive a sandwich. A tough ciabatta. The staff was not really impressed.

We were able to sit outside despite the crowds which was great. The food was of good quality and tasty. Really recommend these bears. Only tip is to make a reservation if the weather is nice or on special days. These days they are often full and you can't just come and slide 😊

Very disappointing experience We had to wait far too long for our food and drinks. The calamari was fried so long that the squid rings were small, hard and chewy. The salmon sandwich was served on a dry roll that was clearly no longer fresh. Result: walked around with heartburn for the rest of the day. When I pointed this out, the response was also nonchalant: "That's what I have, that's all I can do." No understanding or apology, while a simple "Sorry, that's indeed not right" would have made a difference. If I could give half a star, it would be for the fact that the service came to the table at all. No more Beren for me - bad food, bad service and bad attitude. Too bad!

The restaurant had a nice dark decoration. The staff was really nice, the waitress changed many times and everyone was friendly and talking. I loved when someone sang sometimes a little bit while working, I think it's a sign of happiness and feeling good. ❤️ The food was great! Starters and hamburger and the dessert. Not any like special ones but good ones. But the dessert was the best! I liked that they had little finger cleaner things that they gave because I had french fries so I didn't need to go wash my hands! One of the best things was they had a non alcoholic pornstar martini! I really like that drink and I didn't expect to find it with 0% alcohol! I was so happy so I can totally recommend this place and will visit again if I go to Rotterdam.

Upon entering we were greeted in a snappy manner (had made a reservation) Despite the fact that we were in the middle of the business we were skipped every time with the service, the people who came after us were also gone earlier, just like our service. Much too expensive for what we had and service.

Top experience at a top location. There was a very pleasant atmosphere, it was delicious and was also served quickly. Super nice and friendly staff. Definitely recommended and worth repeating!

I got the pork tenderloin— it was tough, bland, and over cooked. Menu said cooked vegetables— I got one carrot and 4 pieces of potato. Not worth the price of $25.5. Sweet potatoes fries were good.

The service took a bit longer, because we were sitting outside on the terrace. The employees are mostly inside and come out on the terrace every now and then, to take orders. It took a while before we got our food. The atmosphere was cozy and the food was fine.

The food is good, and there are lunchtime options, including sandwiches. However, I found the service to be quite slow.

Had breakfast here with friends. French toast was ok in taste, but not that great. The banana bacon pancakes and chocolate marshmallow pancakes are a big disappointment. Dry pancakes with little toppings or sauce (a few chocolate pieces and little badly cooked bacon). You'd better stay in bed.

We had to wait 25 minutes for our drinks and 45 minutes for our food, which wasn't really warm either. The waiters tried, but there were clearly not enough of them. Owners/management: hire some more wait staff, and none of those "there's a staff shortage" excuses. Just pay better

Location is great, right in Markhal. Atmosphere is good, lot of people, happy tourists. Wet market outside during Saturday. Food was fine, I didn’t expect too high since it was a quick bite. Service was not good, at first, the staff urged us to order the moment we sat down. When we wanted to go for 2nd order, no one wanted to come and take the order. What a shame and the restaurant wasn’t busy at that time.

The thing is, I can't give 0 stars... but gosh. I've never been so disappointed after a meal out. The quality is extremely poor, the service doesn't seem to be enjoying themselves (they look very unhappy) and the atmosphere doesn't make it any better at all. 1 tip, just never eat here.

De Beren A restaurant in the heart of Rotterdam. The street runs parallel to the tram line. There are plenty of parking garages nearby. The restaurant is super modern but comfortably furnished. It has a good atmosphere. The staff and service are excellent. The food is very, very tasty. The price-performance ratio is a bit high. The drinks and cocktails are also very good. The food was good, service was excellent. We were allowed to choose our own seats, so we sat on the semi-circle bench. With the unlimited spareribs dish, the waitress knew exactly which flavors I had already had. Very attentive!

Bad food and really terrible service! Rude servers. They forgot to bring the fries with our meal and even eating it infront of us.

Came here for some drinks and it was nice. The outside area has umbrellas and heaters so you can sit there no matter the weather. I had the Ocean Blue and it was a bit sweeter than it was supposed to be. It was a dark blue (looks purple because of the heating light) when in the menu it is light blue. I think they just put too much blue curacao which is what made it too sweet and dark. The Pornstar Martini was really good though, sour and refreshing. The cocktail are reasonably priced at approx. €12, while the beer is approx €5.5.

Don't take the baked salmon really dry! With a few pieces of vegetables. Spare ribs with fries are better. If you say something about it, nothing is done about it. Price-quality major disappointment. Never again.

I had a nice tenderloin with pepper sauce, with potato fries at this restaurant. The staff ere friendly and the atmosphere was nice! I visited on a weekday afternoon, it was not crowded and quite good quality of food and service. They have tables to sit outside as well, but wasn't available because of winter. Probably with nice weather it would be a good place to sit outside and have dinner.

Go to the bear market hall, at least you will be treated well and decently and the staff will be nice
