De Blaffende Vis in Jordaan

As a resident of Amsterdam-East, I've been to Blaffende Vis surprisingly often over the past 20 years. Back when my office was still in the Westerpark business center and I often worked quite late there, the daily special at Blaffende Vis was often my savior. (Before I cycled on to "East".) When I started giving private tours locally, I started taking others along too. My photo is from 2017, I think, when King's Day looked like THIS at your place. It was clear that I wanted (had?) to partake of that! As a volunteer at the Friday Night Skate, I also regularly pass by you on wheels. A really cool café/pub with few tourists and lots of locals. Great atmosphere and truly unique.

Great place for a after work drinks! Good selections of local tap beer. Authentic Dutch café. Recommended.

Nice little place with a hard working, cheery Waitress. We just went in for a drink and sat in the nice old mezzanine area. Seemed to be a lot of locals which is usually a good sign.

The staff kicked us out when it got too crowded. Kalner insulted us like pigs and demanded an order from someone who didn't want anything. Of the four people in the group, only one didn't order anything. He threatened to call the police and ultimately kicked us out.

Usually a great place to drink, but tonight we were very aggressively turned away by security. Security kept telling us to walk onto the patio, which we did. Apparently, we hadn't finished our drinks quickly enough, which made the security angry. He quickly started pulling people away and cursing them out. He aggressively pulled about eight people away while we were trying to talk to keep things calm. He quickly escalated the situation, even though it's actually his job to de-escalate situations. The atmosphere and staff were both very good, but it's a real shame that there's a super aggressive security guard working there. I wouldn't go back anytime soon while he's still working there.

Cozy café, mixed crowd but very suitable for a headbutt or two

On the way to Appie we saw a sign outside: Daily specials €14.50. We haven't been to Appie's anymore... We ate a delicious satay, accompanied by a nice glass of red wine. As seniors, we felt welcome and had a wonderful meal.

A student pub at the weekend. Food (sate) was terrible, cold and indefinable meat.. From a service point of view, I was given a round of drinks. As it goes...

Excellent bar that we stopped at without any pretension, but with a quality beer and a delicious board.

After 5 min entering the bar and taking the first beer they abrublty said to us that we should stand up as the table where we were sitting would go outside to make a dancefloor. Noone was dancing, just more space for the waiters created in the place where they already had a table. After sitting in the bar, ordering food and lots of beer again they called us to stand up because they wanted to fit more people inside. I get that you want more customers but you have to show minimum respect to the ones inside. Such a shame and a pitty for that bar, really inconvenient behaviour making you feeling unwanted even consuming so many beers and food

Service here is terrible, was noticed multiple times by the blonde girl working and after 15 minutes of nobody taking our order we got up and left.

It was a pleasant experience at a proper old-fashioned Dutch place to have a beer and some food. It is always busy and vibrating, so consider booking a table. And mostly, I would recommend smaller groups of eight people.

Nasty place, men born and raised in Amsterdam are refused simply because it is too large a group of men (5 men). I wonder if this is also the door policy for women. For me, as a born and bred central Amsterdam resident, a total no go. Nasty security guard who refers you to the neighbors, but oohh barking fish is so popular. To puke. Hoping they go bankrupt soon. Got here at 10:30am on a Saturday morning, right before a rush. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and served great coffee. The chef makes good food, especially the Bitterbollen. Definitely worth a visit if you like a relaxed morning coffee, or a local beer at the bar.

Roasted ribs are delicious. The staff are lovely. I would definitly come back in my next visit to Amsterdam.
