De Bostent in Wijk 05 Oostkapelle

I recently visited De Bostent with my son. I had a frikandel speciaal and fries myself, while he had chicken nuggets with fries. So far, nothing special, you might think. But then something quite exceptional happened: my son spontaneously said that he really liked it. And that is quite a statement, considering he normally isn't exactly jumping for joy at the prospect of fries. Just to be sure, I asked him if he really meant it. The fries were superior, the frikandel speciaal was heavenly! and the chicken nuggets also got a big thumbs up. Nice people who know exactly how to put the best of the best in front of you; true professionals, in other words! Hats off!!!!! In short: formidable fries/snacks, great prices, and even approved by a rather critical little customer. We will definitely be coming here more often.

Look, you can eat fries anywhere. But when you arrive here at the Bostent, the service is truly perfect. You get a dial that indicates when your food is ready. I've been here twice now and the fries are very good. The snacks are also very tasty. Yes, everyone knows it here... it took me a while. If you are in Oostkapelle, you go to the Bostent. You can park right nearby. Oh yes... it's a chip shop, but they also have very tasty ice cream!

For 15 years, the Bostent has been part of the holiday and I look forward to the delicious fries and snacks from this place; highly recommended!

Fries as fries are meant to be; freshly cut, - right at the back of the shop with an amazing machine - good snacks, smartly organized, always cheerful & friendly, divine artisanal cheese croquettes! For dessert, a creamy soft serve ice cream with sprinkles. They don't skimp on quality here! Even if there is a line, it is worth the wait.

A bit unfair, because I've been coming here since I was little. But what delicious fries they have here. The best fries in the Netherlands, in my opinion! Combine their fries with Jopie's fish and you have a winning fish and chips! Hopefully, the chef's secrets will be passed on so that these fries can be enjoyed by people for generations to come!

This is a great place! Everything was tasty, and the spicy Bamischijf in particular was really good.

Every year, we all look forward to eating fries with mayo at this snack bar after a long day at the beach, or enjoying the delicious soft-serve ice cream with disco toppings. The fries here are practically perfect. We never eat at the beach itself because they're simply better here. The snack bar is located right on the road on the way to the beach, and on the edge of the forest park area.

Great chip shop. Takeaway orders are very easy. Taking it to the beach is no problem because it's so close. Prices are absolutely fine.

Delicious fresh fries and incredibly tasty homemade meatballs.

Friendly staff, food was prepared quickly. The fries are very tasty and well-fried, not soggy at all! The Frikandel speciaal is also deep-fried after cutting it open, which makes it extra crispy. Sauce can be served separately or on top if you ask. The location is also very nice, just keep in mind that you can only sit outside.

We've been coming to the area for years, but a visit to De Bostent never really happened. That is, until snack influencer and advocate of the traditional snack bar Rick Schaft (schaftzonderspijt) made a video about this Zeeland gem. It was immediately added to our to-do list, and last Wednesday, the moment arrived. It was a bit chilly outside (6 degrees Celsius and windy), but that didn't dampen our spirits. The Elite curry (!) and (yes, indeed) the Van Lieshout frikandel (fried sausage) immediately told us we were in the right place. A passionate and very friendly chip shop owner greeted us there, expressing his pleasure that we had come all this way for a visit and hoping he could live up to our expectations, which he certainly did. The (home-cut) fries were double-fried and well-salted (I've also read that you can add your own salt), and the satay and peanut sauce were also delicious. We spoke to some other customers who've been getting their fries there for 15 years and swear by De Bostent. They shared sweet stories about summers gone by filled with mayonnaise, soft serve ice cream, and beach fun. A place that lives on and deserves to stay. This will be a regular stop for us, I can tell you that. I can't wait for our next visit!

In my opinion, this is the best fries place in the area. The fries are extremely tasty, the staff is always friendly, and the service is reasonably fast. The only downside is the smoking: some guests smoke at the tables and benches right among people who are eating. It might be worth considering banning smoking on the snack bar side.

Owner-operated, they prepare the onions and potatoes for the fries by hand. Clean, delicious, and friendly. A fish fry for kibbling is just 20 meters away, equally excellent.

Stopped here on my bike tour because of the good reviews. A great snack bar for families, considering the high prices in Zeeland. And everyone really enjoyed the fries, the food, and the ice cream. The road from Domburg to Ostkapelle is beautiful, by the way... a really great forest with rustic trees.

Absolutely fantastic!!! We've been coming there for many years now when we're camping nearby or otherwise there. I even make a special trip to get food there, even though other good fries are sometimes closer. It's simply unbeatably delicious there, the prices, despite the beautiful location, are still very fair, and the crew is super friendly and always in a really good mood. The boss there speaks fluent German, and the rest of the crew is also so accommodating and friendly, speaking German with us. The fries are definitely recommended, and the large burgers are delicious too. They're not particularly big, but the meat tastes completely different, not like a pre-made frozen patty, but like fresh ground beef. They're incredibly tasty and filling, too. The special Frikandeln are also great and don't taste good everywhere; there are big differences. The same goes for the Bami (fried fish); I really like it the best there. You can also get ice cream with toppings and just about anything the fryers can cook. A truly beautiful place, right next to the forest on the way up to the beach. By the way, they're currently looking for additional staff 🤗 We'll be back, of course!

Highly recommended, really fresh, good quality and very well prepared. Although the beach is only a few minutes' walk away, it's worth buying a snack here. Most people, including us, always drove past and ate on the beach. It's worth making a stopover!

Wat een heerlijke zelf gesneden frites , een topper , komen hier al vele jaren en zijn nooit teleurgesteld, uiterst vriendelijk personeel en bediening , altijd goede zin , snacks en ijs zijn ook heerlijk , evenals het lekkere "bakske koffie ", altijd weer een traktatie om na een flinke fietstocht hier een rust pauze in te lassen, mannen ga zo door !!!!

This is by far the best place in Zeeland. The two bosses have been working here for ages and are always in a good mood and friendly. The fries are homemade and therefore excellent. The soft ice cream is also recommended.

The fries are produced here ourselves!!! We were there shortly before opening and were pleasantly surprised to see that freshly peeled potatoes were being made into French fries. That explains the perfect taste. And the frying fat is apparently changed daily. The rest is like everywhere else. There is no kibbeling here.

Whenever we are near the gentlemen, we always drop by for the tastiest fries from Walcheren and surrounding areas.

Everything 10/10, the peanut mayo sauce is outstanding. Value for money is great and the people are extremely nice. Consistency is also great! Location super pleasant. What more could you want? #tourdefritten
