Very good cakes. Red Velvet my favorite.

Normally I write positive reviews and I also like De Drie Graefjes usually but I usually pick up. So usually 5 stars for the baked goods. However, the service today was horrible. I worked in horeca too, but please hire people who know how to treat customers. Went there 30 min before closing to eat cupcakes with coffees (went with friends) but before ordering it was already mentioned not to sit or stand inside to consume as they close in 30 min (we would have needed 10 max). So we didn’t end up ordering anything. From an owner’s perspective, you have lost a couple cupcake orders and drinks. Multiply that a dozen times a day/month ;)

I visited De Drie Graefjes at 5:30 PM with two friends to buy cupcakes. We were told we couldn’t order drinks or sit because it was already 5:30, even though the shop closes at 6:00 PM. I wonder whether this is an official policy (no seating 30 minutes before closing) or if the staff simply didn’t want us to sit. Either way, it felt unwelcoming and resulted in lost orders. I hope this can be handled more clearly in the future.

De 3 Graafjes Bakery is located on a lively and beautiful street in Amsterdam and is very easy to find. The central location makes it a convenient stop, whether you are exploring the city or simply craving something sweet. As soon as you walk in, you notice that the bakery is quite compact and small, but it is also very cozy and warmly decorated, creating an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. The interior feels charming and intimate, although the music did not always fully match the overall vibe. At times it felt more like gym or workout music, which slightly clashed with the cozy bakery setting. A softer music choice, such as jazz or calm background music, would fit the atmosphere much better and enhance the overall experience. When it comes to the cakes, the quality varies. The carrot cake was not the best carrot cake I have ever had. It was quite dense and compact in texture, though it clearly reflects their own interpretation of a carrot cake. While it wasn’t outstanding, it was still enjoyable and perfectly fine. The chocolate cake, on the other hand, was excellent. It was rich, indulgent, and full of flavor, with a delicious and well-balanced buttercream that truly stood out. The tea was a bit disappointing, as it was served as a regular tea bag. I had expected a loose-leaf infusion or something more special, which would have matched the quality of the cakes better. One of the biggest highlights of De 3 Graafjes Bakery is the staff. The team is incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming, which makes a huge difference and leaves a very positive impression. Their kindness and attentiveness are a major plus and make you feel genuinely welcome. Overall, De 3 Graafjes Bakery is definitely worth visiting if you are in the mood for something sweet. Despite a few small points for improvement, such as the music and the tea selection, the cozy setting, excellent chocolate cake, and exceptionally friendly staff make it a place I would happily recommend.

The server forgot one of our orders, which can happen, but instead of rushing to get the last order (a slice of cake), it took half an hour. Many other orders were delivered in the meantime, and our server frequently went to the kitchen, but our cake remained missing. When the cake finally arrived, the others had finished their food, and we were 40 minutes late. Moreover, the meringue on the lemon meringue cake was gritty; you could feel the sugar crystals on your teeth.

I asked for recommendation because everything looked super delicious! And what I got did not disappoint. One of the best cake I have ever eaten. Definitely recommend!!!

I had a lovely experience at De Drie Graefjes. I stopped in for a drink and a slice of red velvet cake and it was wonderful. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. I felt comfortable right away. It really felt like a little oasis in the middle of the busy city. The cake slices are large and incredibly delicious and the coffee is strong and well-made. I even took a slice home because it was so good! There are plenty of cozy seating areas upstairs and the free Wi-Fi makes it an easy place to relax for a while. A very charming café. I’ll definitely come back.

So this is basically the best cake I ever had. My vegan sister had the vegan cupcake and was very impressed with the quality.. so impressed she decided to sin and taste our red velvet cake too.. actions speak louder then words right?

It is always a pleasure to visit De Drie Graefjes. The service is constantly great and there is a tempting selection of cakes on display. Their red velvet and mash-up cake are really tasty and firm favorites of mine. The generous slices of cake are a real bonus and make it feel well worth the price.

I had a delicious cake, the price/quality ratio is good, and you get a decently sized piece. It's a perfect meal for two people. It's a great spot by the open window overlooking the Allard Pierson Museum. I find the seating downstairs less inviting. The service was super friendly. The toilet was unfortunately quite dirty.

Let me start by saying that the food was excellent. If you're coming here for a delicious piece of cake, I definitely recommend it. Unfortunately, lunch was a much worse experience. After ordering coffee and food, we waited 45 minutes for coffee and another half hour for the food. The waitress kept forgetting whether we spoke English or Dutch. The club sandwiches didn't have any toast, and they were very frugal with the sauce. The cake is good, the service is not.

I went to De Drie Graefjes on Rokin and tried the Red Velvet and the Red Velvet with Oreo, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The regular Red Velvet was tasteless; the cake was dry, and the frosting tasted sour and too heavy, making it completely unpalatable. With the Red Velvet with Oreo, the brown part of the cake was still edible, but the red part was dry and unpleasant. The Oreo frosting was bland and unappetizing. To make matters worse, I felt nauseous and developed symptoms after eating the cake. That shouldn't happen, especially not at a place with such a good reputation. I had high expectations, but unfortunately, everything was very disappointing. I will NOT be returning.

I was excited for high tea here but it was honestly the worst dining experience I’ve had. Service was non-existent — we waited 40+ minutes just for a teapot with one teabag, and “unlimited tea” was pointless since no one came back to refill. Food was slow and disappointing: cold, watery quiche, uneven service between tables, and sweets that were almost inedible (cheesecake and brownie tasted like playdough, the rest bland at best). 2 hours before we got served the sweet tier. The only positive was the portion size, but overall this was shockingly bad given the reputation.

Placed an order for my 30th bday and paid extra for the writing of “Fabulous 30”. I think the picture I uploaded says enough about the quality and the decor of the cake.. My 5 year old niece would have written it better and at least centered. 71 euros down the drain🙃

I went here because I'd read reviews about the best carrot cake in the Netherlands (my all-time favorite cake, you could almost call me a connoisseur), but unfortunately, I thought it was perhaps the least delicious carrot cake I've ever had. Strange texture, not much flavor, and a bit soggy. I liked the frosting, but it didn't make the rest of the cake any better; I left it after a few bites. 😅 You do get a very large slice, though, so that's great! The coffee was delicious, and I also had a cookie that I also found very tasteless and dry. Maybe I was on a bad day. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere is nice!

The sandwich was a little overpriced, but it was really good. It's a shame because neither the smoothie nor the juice were available. The bathroom was something indescribable, and it deserves a star for its ambiance.

Really a very nice place with delicious food. If you want to quickly eat a sandwich and/or cake, this is the place to go.

What a huge disappointment the Drie Graafjes lemon meringue tart was! You expect a fresh, airy lemon bavarois, beautifully spread on a crispy almond paste base, topped with a lightly charred, perfectly applied meringue. But this tart was a complete failure. The base was rock hard, far too thick, and completely tasteless. It tasted like cardboard. The filling was incredibly heavy, dense, and grainy—absolutely not the light lemon filling you'd hope for. And the icing on the cake: the meringue was full of undissolved granulated sugar that crunched between your teeth. It looked like this tart had been thrown together by a first-year student. A real disappointment, absolutely not recommended!

We got takeaway cakes for tea at a friend's house and my goodness, they were so amazing. Honestly the best cake I've ever had. The red velvet was stunning and my friend loved her carrot cake. Absolute "write home about" place. Hubby and I are now gluten free so I hope on our next visit to Amsterdam we might still be able to have something!

I ordered an ice tea, but it came as not as expected. Same for cheesecake. Service was okay, but also asked for ice, they said u can only have 1 cube. Never ever coming back.

I usually come here for the cakes, but this time I decided to try something different and have a meal instead. Unfortunately, it was quite a letdown. I ordered the avocado toast – something I often enjoy elsewhere – but what I got was literally just dry toast with a blob of avocado slapped on top. No seasoning, no flair, just… bland. Tried to save it with some salt & peper, but no. It came with some uninspired nacho chips on the side as well, which didn’t help much either. I ended up sending it back. Apparently, you can add extra toppings (for an extra charge), but honestly, the basic version should still be decent enough to serve. There were a few other small things too, but I think this review is already long enough. Next time, I’ll happily stick to the cakes

Ordered a cake from the UK for a family member currently living in Amsterdam. They were super-helpful, and responded immediately when I was struggling with the website. They also were very flexible in agreeing to the special wording I wanted on the cake. The prices are very reasonable. I am very grateful for their assistance in helping to make this a special celebration even though he will be away from home. Update: My son received his cake and reported it tasted great! Lovely and moist without too much frosting. Thank you once again.

Lunch deal taken for 19,0. Club sandwich was delicious and large portion. Fruit juice was nice but tasted mainly like apple juice and the cupcake tasted good but fell apart a bit.

In terms of taste, these are the best cupcakes and cakes I've ever had. Almost always perfect – I look forward to the carrot cupcake every time I come to Amsterdam. I absolutely recommend it.

Today I had a wonderful time at **Bakkerij De Drie Graefjes**. The **Red Velvet cake** was fantastic—fluffy, flavorful, and just what you would expect from this classic. Very special to eat such a big apple pie with whipped cream. It was enough for me as lunch. I have never eaten such a big apple pie before.

The staff were very nice and friendly unfortunately the food was awful, we orded a toastie and a chicken melt both of which were made with overly prosessed food. Felt sickly afterwards wouldn't go back .

I come here regularly, but I think it's a shame that there is no service on the top floor. When I inquired about this, the waitress indicated that it would be too quiet upstairs to have anyone standing there, even though there were almost eight guests having lunch at the time. I have now had to walk downstairs twice to place our orders, which I found to be inconvenient.

Took the bicycle from Soest to Amsterdam on our day off and decided to stop at Drie Graefjes at Rokin. We arrived 1 hour before closing time (should be no issue obviously) but we could not order and take a seat anymore. Why? Because they could not handle the orders anymore they said, while there were plenty of free tables inside. This is not how you handle guests. Very disappointing!

We really enjoyed visiting this store! There is a second floor in which you can see the street from higher and eat your cake there. The cake was nice too, and the staff really polite.

De Drie Graefjes is a real gem for those with a sweet tooth! The cappuccinos are among the best I've ever tasted in the city: creamy, aromatic and served with great care. But the real highlight are the cakes: generous portions, authentic flavors and a variety that will shock even the most determined! From red velvet to carrot cake, each slice is a little masterpiece. Welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and very central location. Highly recommended for a sweet break during your visit to Amsterdam!

My mother left her wallet and we called to get it back however the two young ladies there were obviously not eager to help us as they were closing and told us it wasn't there. We filled in a police report, canceled all the cards, requested a new driver's license only to get a call two days later from a young man saying he'd been trying to reach us to advise the wallet was there, not cool. Also the Orio cake we bought there was... meh

It was more like the 30 ravens, terrible unfriendly staff. Customers who come to eat are allowed to join the queue of 10 people who order something again after they have eaten and want to pay. In addition, staff argue with customers and laugh at you.

My first and last order! Never again! On the advice of an acquaintance, I ordered 2 large cakes for a birthday. What a disappointment and waste of my money! When you pay that much for it, you expect quality. Cake was not fresh and dry. Went straight into the trash. Of course I tried to report my complaint by telephone, but they just hung up! I had to quickly run to HEMA for another cake to make it up to the birthday boy. Scandalous and shameless from De Drie Graefjes!

Unfortunately the food and drinks were disappointing. The pancakes were dry and hard to chew and the red velvet cupcake was dry as well. Only the sandwich was decent. However the waitress was really nice.

We decided to visit De Drie Graefjes after being told that we would eat the best cake in Amsterdam. Well, I haven't tried that many cakes in the city, but I can say that the ones we ate are definitely among the best we've ever tasted in our lives. It's definitely worth it. The carrot cake is different, moist and delicious. The portions are huge!

Good lunch spot for specific club sandwiches, the club spring break is great! I wouldn't order the chicken melt because it was pretty crappy. The cakes are also delicious, especially the hummingbird.

They told us there was no room for 9 when there was room. After that they didn't serve us until half an hour later and it took even longer to bring us some simple coffees. I certainly won't be back.

I passed by during afternoon tea time and bought a glass of Latte and Lemon Tart. I was instantly amazed and refreshed. Although the latte has milk foam to make the coffee smoother, it still cannot overpower the fragrant coffee flavor. The taste is more nutty. It is a very delicious coffee and is a perfect match with Lemon Tart. In addition, I saw many people buying sponge cakes. I believe they should be eaten well. I will try them next time🤤

I always come here especially for the red velvet cake, which is absolutely delicious! But that's not what this review is about. I came for lunch with a friend today, we both ordered the Club Springbreak. This also comes with a fried egg, but their plate was broken so they couldn't prepare that. Fine, but at least compensate in the price. Finish. The worst is yet to come. We ordered coffee and cake, which were delivered fairly quickly. Now we waited for the sandwiches. It takes a very long time and we asked when we could expect it. The waitress looked at us coldly and said they are working on it. Well, they just forgot, because it only arrived on the table HALF AN HOUR after ordering. Mind you, there were maybe only 4 others in the entire restaurant. When the sandwiches finally arrive, we are served cold, limp, wet bread. Bread that comes from the freezer and would be fine if only the sandwich had been left for a while. We were given neither cutlery nor napkins, so we struggled to eat the thick sandwiches with stained hands. For that price it was definitely not worth it. A simple sandwich that I could have prepared better at home, with crusty bread and melted cheese. Well, I'll never come here for lunch again! Waste of money if you ask me. But I do come for the delicious cake, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

To escape the rain we were looking for some place to have some coffee and since this was near the place we needed to be we went in. Luckily there were some seats downstairs, upstairs seems reserved for high tea, though the high tables were an experience. We ordered some drinks and cake, and a very pink cup cake for my daughter. The cup cake gave me flashbacks to the very sweet cup cakes I had while staying in the US. The lemon koek and strawberry cheese cake are delicious, and the half uneaten cup cake my daughter left me to eat after stealing my cheesecake was super sweet. It’s a super busy cafe we saw a lot of people leave disappointed since there were no seats available. It’s definitely worth trying the cake even as take-out if you pass by here.

We came two days to have breakfast at this chain. Highly recommended for breakfast. Variety of cakes and coffee/tea. Banana bread and the spectacular brownie. I recommend it.

So densely packed with cinnamon apples, this is probably the tallest slice of pie that I’ve ever encountered. Prepared with the tandem ingredients of cinnamon and brown sugar, I wondered if the taste would be dominated by sweetness. However, they are added in measured proportions so that each bite is harmonious and flavorful. The crumble top adds a wonderful texture, and when supplemented by a generous dollop of whipped cream, this all comes together to serve as a delicious companion to any balanced meal. 😉 My only lingering question is: I wonder if I can get my doctor to write me a daily prescription for this stuff? 🤔 And that’s…Henry’s Take. #appeltaart

The food is delicious and if you sit by the window like us it is very cozy, but the service was really, really bad. A very young grumpy lady who, in addition to being completely inefficient, also did not pay attention at all when people had questions or asked for cutlery or sweets, for example. It's a reason not to come back.

I ordered via TGTG, I arrived and the lady behind the cash register was very unfriendly and gave me a box with dried slices of cake. Never again.
