De Drie Graefjes Zuid in Stadionbuurt

After my previous complaint about an unpleasant experience at De Drie Graefjes, I wanted to express my appreciation for how this was handled. I received a quick and very friendly response by email with sincere apologies. I visited today and was incredibly well-helped by the location manager. I received a delicious chai latte and a red velvet cake. Everything was perfect, and the way I was welcomed and assisted felt very pleasant and professional. It's great to see that feedback is taken seriously and that genuine efforts are being made to resolve it properly. That definitely deserves a compliment. Thank you for the excellent service!

Cakes and coffee are delicious. I'm often less fond of lunch. But red velvet makes up for everything.

The waitress has never heard of any service. She first took all the time to clean up a table that was not needed (the upper floor had plenty empty tables), then we had to ask for the lunch menu, after which we had to wait 40-45 minutes before lunch was finally served. A table next to us that arrived at least 20 minutes after us, got their food before we did. When asked if our lunch was almost coming after waiting all this time, her response was “ik weet het niet, ze zullen er vast mee bezig zijn”. While she walked past the open kitchen. Then 2/4 got their food, and 5 mins later the other two. Will never go back for lunch again, whilst our office is just across the street. Food was fine, nothing special.

The service was excellent, especially from the staff member Kiearah. She was very helpful and made the experience even better. Thank you

Very tasty pieces of cake here, to enjoy

Great place for a cup of coffee or tea. I didn't try the pastries, but I think they're good too. However, the lunch left a lot to be desired. There wasn't much avocado on the toast, and there were also bits of stray, unwanted banana peel in it. The scrambled eggs were also unremarkable and a bit dry. The red velvet pancakes were also very dry. It would have been better if they had syrup instead of the heavy buttercream. The drinks are also fine; I liked the coffee, and it was nice that there were interesting tea flavors to choose from. The interior is sleek. It's cozy that you can sit under the stairs. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold, in my opinion.

What a disappointment! I walked in today at 5:10 PM to be told I couldn't be seated. They close early. When I told her they were open until 6:00 PM, she said yes, but if it's not too busy, we'll close early. Another woman (a colleague) said it was to keep the store's costs down. What a waste of a trip from west to south! Never again! (I was also glad I wasn't with company.)

Sadly, the cup cakes have become smaller and the frosting double the size! De Dre Graefjes once had the best pastries ......not anymore!

We had lunch this afternoon; the bread wasn't toasted, there was tons of pepper, and no salt. The avocado sandwich barely had any avocado. The second time it's been so disappointing. I ended up getting the NYC cheesecake to take home, and it was rock hard. We won't be having it again. I reported everything to the cash register, and they said they'd pass it on. Incidentally, the service is terrible.

Too bad, I went by this afternoon to eat a slice of red velvet cake by myself for my birthday. I often go to the location behind the Dam, but this time I thought I was going nearby. Big mistake - I got a dry, stale cake. It's a shame the quality has deteriorated.

The service is 10/10. Unfortunately the red velvet cake is so bad! Nobody at the birthday party could eat it. From the first bite everyone was so disappointed. Why is the cake so hard and dry? The crème cheese was sour and inedible. This is the second time buying a red velvet cake here and also the second time that it disappointed us, not worth almost 40 euros. Never again.

I ordered a red velvet cake. As an American bakery, you'd expect more from a red velvet cake. It's red, but there's nothing velvety about it. It feels like I'm chewing on sweet rye bread. I paid €37.50 for red sweet bread with sour buttercream. It's a shame, they used to be good.

I bought a small cake earlier today from the bakery . Coming back from the bakery, When I cut the cake I noticed it was very very hard. Despite it was supposed to be a freshly made chocolate cheesecake I did not taste any chocolate, it was buttery with no flavor at all. I wish I had the time to bring it back to the shop. Price paid 32,50. On the bright side the shop looked clean.

De Drie Graefjes in Amsterdam Zuid is one of my favorite spots! I regularly invite business associates here for coffee, and it always proves to be a good choice: the atmosphere is informal yet stylish, making it a pleasant place to have conversations. The service is friendly, attentive, and professional, without being intrusive. A lovely location with hospitable service—definitely recommended! ☕️

I think it's quite pricey, but what you get is absolutely worth it! Last time I got several pieces of cake for my colleague's birthday, and they all asked where I got it and that they were going to order some themselves. The cake pieces were really huge and I even got a birthday candle with it. Toppers! :))

Huge disappointment with the carrot cake. The cake wasn't baked through: the center was still wet, and the carrot pieces were too coarse and long, making the texture unpalatable. Unfortunately, the cake was inedible, and we ultimately had to throw it away.

First introduction to this chain. Hangover burger was very tasty, well stocked with everything. Worth repeating.

Lovely place. I highly recommend coffee and vegan lemon log cake.

Its a cute cafe. We had breakfast there. The tosti was nice but overpriced. The velvet cupcake was nice. The waiter was kind but also a bit over our heads even though there weren't much other people. A lot of people smoking around though.

I had a delicious lunch here a few weeks ago. Good food, a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. The pieces of cake are large portions that can easily be shared. Definitely recommended!

Amigos fueron a almorzar y lo pasaron bien. Los pasteles son maravillosos y el lugar es acogedor. camareros es muy amable. el almuerzo es medio y un poco caro. Si te sientas arriba es ruidoso y caliente si te sientas abajo la puerta se abre todo el tiempo. pero se trata de la compañía! se puede aparcar en el garaje de abajo de pago.

I think the employees are not interested, they ask what we want to order without bringing a menu, they clean the windows by spraying glass cleaner while the cakes are in the freezer, I did not find it hygienic. I am coming for the 3rd time, I always gave it a chance but this was the last one, I am sorry.

Cakes are delicious but the employees at the south location are terrible. It has happened to me 3 times now that I get a very grumpy and irritated lady who cannot smile. Mean girls vibe really thinks it's a shame, I'd love to come to you, but with his angry face I prefer to avoid it, customer friendliness is hard to find man man man

Used to be a nice place to sit and enjoy lunch but now it feels like they do you a favor and the service is just awful!!!

Very unfortunate, was a satisfied customer. No one came to the table to take the order... so I walked downstairs to place my order. The staff was pleasantly eating, drinking and chatting. Had avocado toast with egg, which I order more often. There was no tomato and no chives... normally that is included. Just a toast with old avocado and some egg. Unfortunately now also a stomach ache etc from yesterday's food. The chef himself eats enough, you could see that from above... or on his phone or while eating himself. It wasn't busy and there were enough staff. So that can't be the reason the service was so bad. Too bad, next time we'll go back to the Rokin branch. The service and food there are top notch

The unicorn cake looked fantastic, hence 2 stars. The 'but' explained below: 1. It was sickly sweet, no other flavor recognizable than white sugar. The children felt nauseous after just one bite. 2. The portion indication for our group was very wrong. We ordered those for 16-20 pp instead of 8-10. We ate it with 17 people and it is half gone.

Bought rainbow cake for a birthday. The cake was dry and tasted of nothing. It looks like you are eating sand because of the coarse sugar grains. Without exaggerating I can say that I have never tasted such a bad cake. Tasted yes, because three quarters of the cake went straight into the trash. None of the guests were able to eat their piece. People even joked about whether I had been looking for this "cake" for a long time.

Very nice staff and concept. But beware, many cupcakes have become vegan therefore 3-4 star quality (and arguably much less healthy although nobody eats cake for health reasons :-) ). The carrot cupcake seemed natural/dairy and excellent, 4-5 star quality.

I bought a cheesecake here last Monday for our team Christmas party. We were very disappointed because the cheesecake was very dense, tasted old, and had a texture that seemed like it was from a week ago. Two of our colleagues even got stomach problems from it—such a way to ruin a Christmas party. Never again. To be noted the woman in the cashier wasn’t very friendly

How strange, I wrote this review last year on August 7, 2023, but strangely enough it didn't get through, so we'll do it again. I had a birthday cake made for my mother, exactly how it is described on the website, the cake "Red Velvet Rosette Cake" in the color lilac to dark purple! It is indicated that the "slighty" may differ from the chosen color. When I come to pick up the cake, it doesn't come close to lilac/purple at all. The employee still argues with me about whether it is lilac/purple, I don't know if she is color blind? She didn't do her best to find a solution because I was dissatisfied. There was also no transition in color in the cake, which I also indicated and the employee said there was. I am NOT satisfied because I really wanted that color!! And you have not achieved that at all. The left picture is what I wanted and the right is what I got, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY.

Dear people, always delicious pastries and still affordable compared to others

After giving more than 5 oportunities coming here for a coffee I can say that people working here doesn’t care about the service. They just ignore you when you want to order something. 40 minutes to order a coffee? Takes me less to cross the whole city… Food is ok but I’m not gonna come back again. I wouldn’t recommend this place to a friend.

One of my favourite spots in Amsterdam 🫶 The staff is always so nice and their food is sooo yummy. Cupcakes are a must.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere a bit less... And the people who work there don't come by or really check to see if people need anything... but all in all delicious sandwiches and etc....

Just walked into the store with my son. An employee shouts loudly, "Can you close the door?" and then a very fake, striking smile. I left immediately, what a rotten attitude!

Certainly not one of the worst places on this square and a nice one to sit down. But everything is overpriced and although the cakes look nice it is not exactly memorable. I was here when things were busy and the wait way too long.

We ordered a vanilla baby girl cake. we had high expectations because of the reputation of the shop as well as the price! (55euro plus!). Unfortunately, the icing was too sweet with little vanilla taste in it. The cake was very dry (and thus hard!) from inside. There were no layers in the taste of the cake. Three words to express the cake: over-dry, over-sweet, expensive. It was a shame! Had better ordered a cake just from the HEMA!

Not satisfied with the hygiene of work and operation. Very messy.

Dirty tables, "all the same sandwich" dishes, poor service with "i forgot part of your order, but will not apologise", long waiting, crumped space.

Super friendly staff, and the desserts arrived quickly.

2.5 stars. The service was good, but the lunch could have been better. I ordered a tuna melt that fell under 'hot sandwiches'. Nothing about it was warm and the butter not melting made it feel even colder. Furthermore, the bread was difficult to cut even though it was not even toasted. I also received my tea later than my food and it was scarcely filled, while you normally pay 3.70 for a glass of hot water and a tea bag.

They were great, my cake had a small imperfection and they offered to fix it & deliver it in record time!

The food and sweets here always make you happy! :) Attentive employees.

Very tasty lunch with a wide variety of choices

Sunday morning. Service was terribly slow. Coffee was good. Unfortunately, the vanilla rainbow cake was way too sweet and dry.

De American pancakes, waren droog en taai alsof ze niet vers waren. Ik vroeg verse munt thee met honing, kreeg er geen honing bij en de muntblaadjes waren voornamelijk bruin. Het personeel stond veel met elkaar te praten, en ik werd pas na 45 minuten geholpen, ze waren mij vergeten. Een meisje die er werkte, deed al alle tafels en haar collega's stuurde haar naar mij toe, en gingen weer verder met gezellig kletsen. Ik hoorde ook veel geklaag van andere gasten dat het personeel niet snel is en veel kletst. Jammer van zo'n mooie zaak!

Was ok all round. Nothing spectacular about the food or service. However, I would give the pastry 4 stars. They are always a treat.

Nice lunch. Unfortunately, after ordering lunch and drinks, we were never asked again if everything was to our liking and if we wanted to order anything else. On the other hand, we were very remote, but still. Staff very friendly!

The American-style cakes are a hit with the kids, but the service has hit a low point. The best way to get the cakes is through their new counter located next to the original kitchen. Unfortunately, we no longer visit due to the unfriendly attitude of the staff.

Food and cake are fantastic as always, unfortunately it is often very busy and there is little place to sit. The tables are also a bit on the small side.

We come here regularly, but the service is really deteriorating... last time they didn't say good afternoon upon arrival, had to wait a long time to order, but we could see that they were chatting. Tables that are dirty while there are enough staff present to clean the tables, but no one does it. Then the food is ready and we have to go downstairs to say that it is ready, because it has been there for a while and we don't want it to be cold. All in all, the last time for us for a while. There really needs to be an improvement in the service. It is also less in terms of hygiene. They simply cut fruit and bread/meat on the same cutting board and on the side where they make cakes, you regularly see them touching their hands and faces and continuing with the cakes without washing their hands. It really needs to be better!

I always like to come here early on Sundays. Nice friendly service. Only the cold in both summer and winter is terrible. You will be blown away by the air extraction system. Something needs to be done about that

Enjoyed delicious apple pie with whipped cream and a latte on the beautiful stadium square. The whipped cream is not quality whipped cream but from a can. Something could be done about that. We sat comfortably and both the latte and the pastry tasted good.

Had the confetti cupcakes at both Rokin & Zuid and on both occasions the cake was extremely stale- so dry and like it was baked a week ago. Such a pity because you can tell it’s a good cupcake. Just wish they sold them fresh.

Had lunch again after a long time. And it was all very disappointing. Lots of staff present, but the empty tables upstairs were not cleared and were still dirty. After the sandwiches, I still ordered a piece of apple pie. Ice cold or rather frozen inside. Immediately brought back downstairs. I was told that they hear this complaint/comment more often. They wanted to solve the problem by heating it up in the microwave. Serious! Defrosting a cake and heating it up in the microwave... Do you dare to put this price tag on it? It should be freshly baked and not a frozen pie. Heating up in a microwave is really a no-go. I returned this as feedback. Hope they do something with it. You pay for fresh cake. I can also buy frozen cake at a supermarket and I think you can still heat up a cake in an oven. So they do not stand for their own quality.

I’ve come here several times. I really like the red velvet cake and the matcha latte is fine. This time I ordered “The Hangover”. It was a lot for one person and reasonably priced for what you get. It was yummy and filing.

Highly unsanitary experience. Got the last slice of chocolate cake the other day and after proceeding to take my order, I watched the server put it on the plate with her bare hand without washing her hands or any gloves. She had just touched the pin machine and screen which was probably dirty. I was in utter shock and disbelief.

Yesterday I got cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. The frosting is not bad, but could be a bit softer. The cake itself was dry, grainy in texture. Doesn't taste fresh, looks like it has been frozen. Normally I take a slice cake and so far they have been tasty, but this time I didn't take it. Cupcakes are quite disappointing.

Had a good doppio, but terrible New York cheesecake. Dry, too cold and made me nauseous. Reported this and responded well.

1 out of 5 stars Unpleasant Staff Overshadow Great Food at De Drie Graefjes Zuid Regrettably, my visit to De Drie Graefjes Zuid was overshadowed by the exceptionally rude staff. Despite the bakery's delicious offerings, the unwelcoming and dismissive attitude of the employees significantly marred the experience. Questions about the products were met with impatience, making the environment uncomfortable. Additionally, their superficial nod to LGBTQI+ inclusivity with gender-normative rainbow cake toppings (only blue or pink) felt insincere and out of touch. It's a pity, as the quality of their baked goods is top-notch. However, excellent food cannot make up for the lack of courtesy and a genuine commitment to inclusivity. I hope De Drie Graefjes Zuid takes this feedback seriously and improves their service. Until then, I'll be looking for a more welcoming spot that values both great food and respectful treatment of customers.

Disappointing service... We ordered two birthday cakes for our son's first birthday, only to find that my son's name was misspelled on both. Upon reaching out to the patisserie, we were surprised to be told that the responsibility rested with the person who collected the cakes, rather than receiving a sincere apology. The correct note to be written was clearly specified in the invoice and the person collected the order was just a courier. Committing a simple mistake on such a special day and shifting the blame onto the customer is far below the standards one would expect...

Used to be our favourite place for a Sundays treat or for birthday cakes. Unfortunately recently something changed in their recipes. Especially in the frosting. Their frosting used to be a hefty layer of creamy cheese tasting cream. Now, it just tastes like butter and it has been thinned down noticeably. It s a pity that such a place, one of the amsterdam staples, has lowered its quality.
