Had a nice party here. Good service and great food.

The waiters and waitresses are incredibly attentive, friendly, efficient, and kind. And the food is very good.

Cozy and the service is prompt. We sat in one of the three rooms, which are also atmospheric. And on top of all this, you can park for free in the parking lot next door.

Located in the heart of old Houten, this is a truly delightful venue for celebrating a party. Everything looks neat, clean, and well-maintained. The staff is very friendly and professional.

We were a party of 56 people. Then another "busload" of 40 people joined us. That was clearly too much for about 5 people serving. The food was good, but far too little. Pointing out three times that a "soup bowl" of fries and a soup bowl of fried potatoes was very little for 6 people yielded nothing but the promise that more would be added. There was, however, time to ask if we wanted anything to drink......

My experience with this rental venue was downright bad. During my own party, I was approached by the staff regarding damage allegedly caused by people I didn't even know. Instead of them handling this professionally and at an appropriate moment, I was confronted with it in the middle of my party, which completely ruined the atmosphere. As if that wasn't enough, the customer service also left a lot to be desired. After no less than four months of email correspondence, I finally received a response stating that my deposit would be refunded. Subsequently, it took another month, and ultimately, I still haven't received anything. Communication is slow and unprofessional, and agreements are not honored. The customer service is simply terrible. I would therefore absolutely not recommend this venue to anyone.

Catering at the Opgewekt Houten meeting was well taken care of.

A fun and intimate birthday celebration. Across from De Engel is a fantastic, highly crafted woodworking shop, Verweij, where I had a Roman carriage made 30 years ago based on an A4 illustration.

Beautiful location, friendly staff... Delicious lunch. Small tea cups. We had a group meeting. During the last hour, a family party started next door with loud music and lots of chatter outside our door. That was quite disruptive.

A great location for meetings or other gatherings, and the lunch was also very good. We had a 12-hour lunch with corn soup and a variety of sandwiches. It's definitely worth it.

On November 21, 2025, we had a very successful party evening (freshly at the table)! We played the game "The All-Rounder" and were enthusiastically guided by our game host! The delicious food was served in three courses!

I arrived with a group for lunch by coach. The day before, I spoke to a staff member to ask if I could get there and park. I was greeted politely and served well in the restaurant. The lunch was perfect and the location is beautiful. Thank you so much for that.

I went to Houten De Engel with my mother for a COVID vaccine. It was ridiculous to be in a restaurant; it was overcrowded, and there was no privacy. So miserable to be there. What is the Municipal Health Service doing?

Used to come here regularly. Was good then. I was here recently with a group of people. A beer was poured into a lemonade glass!! Food was buffet style. Unfortunately, it was barely refilled. Shame!! For several people it was here: once but never again.

Celebrated a 40th birthday yesterday evening. Purchased a fairly extensive package. We sat in a nice and attractive room with a large bar. Staff was extremely friendly, quick with service and helpful!! The snacks... received so many compliments on them!! Whether it was a regular appetizer or something more luxurious, it was equally delicious!! The mini burgers have delicious tender meat on a delicious bun. The fries were also very good. No small pieces of waste, but good fries! The vegan offering was also fantastic. I have received several compliments about the range and quality of these snacks. I will keep this top tent in mind for other parties. We had a wonderful evening. In this place you know you are going to have a good party. Thank you all so much!!!!!

Let goed op als u hier reserveert. Ze laten je n.l. voor allerlei zaken betalen die je niet hebt gehad. Wij hadden voor 18,54 koffie niet betaald want die hadden we helemaal niet gehad. De oplichters gaan vervolgens voor dit onnozele bedrag naar een advocatenkantoor. U bent gewaarschuwd!

Good food, nice location near a beautiful old church in the center. Beautiful old building, well maintained and furnished. Toilets clean and fresh. Service very pleasant and cordial without exaggerating. Worth the effort.

Een prima locatie voor een vergadering met lunch. Op de site staat dat de zalen zijn voorzien van diverse moderne faciliteiten. Die moet je alleen wel apart reserveren en afrekenen. Dat was een beetje teleurstellend.

Nice food. Eh had a lunch set here, with kroket, diverse baguettes it’s things like salmon, cheese, chicken, eggs. Milk, ‘karnemelk’ juices. People are friendly. In the old part of Houten.

Vrij ouderwets ingericht restaurant en dat komt in dit geval de sfeer niet ten goede. Het eten is prima, niet uitzonderlijk. Daar is de prijs gelukkig ook naar. De bediening is wel vriendelijk, maar te weinig echt voor de gasten aanwezig. Al met al zijn er op het Oude Dorp in Houten zeker betere alternatieven.
