Cozy restaurant, helpful staff and, importantly, very tasty food.

If you don't mind the small children playing, it's highly recommended. Friendly and good service and a very tasty meal with plenty of choices. The indoor restaurant is quieter.

Always delicious there, and staff very friendly

The owner of the place doesn't know how to communicate to people in civilized way and he also yells at his own waiters. We got the wrong order and returned it and he made a big fuss about it like it is our fault. Not to say that the food I got was not even adequate for pregnant person so even if I wanted I could not accept it. He also thinks he is generous if he gives tap water to thirsty pregnant woman. I would never be going there again.

The food is subpar. The service is just awful. Disinterested teenagers. Definitely not recommended. Kind of a sophisticated snack bar. Never again!

I've been coming here to De Beren in Houten for a long time. If you ask me, you'd have to believe it's 5 stars. If you're looking for good food at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. Quiet and cozy. Delicious food and plenty of warmth.

A group of 23, including six children, enjoyed coffee and lunch. The service was quick and friendly, and despite the a la carte menu, everyone was served simultaneously. Fantastic! The little ones also had a blast with the bouncy castles and coloring pages.

Last Sunday, more than an hour before opening time, I looked inside, somewhat disappointed. I thought I was way too early. Immediately, someone came to the door and asked, "Would you like a cup of coffee?" "Yes, please," I said, how sweet. "Oh, it'll only take a few seconds," was the response, and that was more than an hour before opening time. Delicious coffee, and I was happy all day. What hospitality!!!! Kudos.

De Beren Houten surprised us! We still remembered the previous concept, but what an upgrade! A fully-fledged restaurant, a great atmosphere, a lovely terrace, and excellent and friendly staff. A place we'll definitely return to.

Very nice place, a bit of a strange place but easy to do with public transport. Easy to park by car. Delicious dishes. Croquette is great. Goat cheese croquette delicious. Calamares cannot be compared to chewing gum from other restaurants. Corndog is tasty but I would not order it again. I was very curious because I had never eaten this before. Spareribs are very tender and fall off the bone. Staff is fast, friendly, neat and correct. TIP. When making a reservation, ask if there are children. Then they can get as close as possible to the bouncy castle. Children happy and parents enjoy a nice meal. It was a fantastic birthday present from my children.

Celebrated my granddaughter's birthday there, a bouncy castle was the highlight for the little one, food/drinks and the service was 👍

The food was delicious and the service was good. The atmosphere was a bit less.

We go here a few times a year and the food is usually pretty good. However, they have recently really deteriorated their burger. It used to be a nice juicy thick patty and now it's two thin dry patties with a strange taste. So go there, but definitely avoid the burger.

Great food in a cozy warm atmosphere. Staff was fast and smooth and the service was top. The location in a shopping center is a bit strange, but if you are in the restaurant itself, you don't notice much of this. The parking lot and the location along the highway is top.

On May 27th we enjoyed a lunch. Despite the usual weekday, the restaurant was well-occupied. Service was quick, friendly and professional. Ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and a goat cheese sandwich. DELICIOUS, all super fresh. In short, highly recommended. See you soon.

May 24, 2025: I had lunch here with our oldest son and family. We had a delicious meal at the bears, just like at every bear we've been to. I'm still enjoying the delicious chicken satay. Highly recommended! There was also plenty of choice for the kids in terms of food. There was also a large bouncy castle outside the store. They also have coloring pages, etc., just like at the other bears, to keep the kids busy.

What a bleak place. Nothing they can do about it, but seriously...do you really want to eat here?

We came for High Tea. All in all it was really disappointing. But yes, I always want to try it myself before I can give a judgement. It wasn't a little, it wasn't too much either, the quantity was fine. I think 60% of the sweets were chocolate. Someone in my company doesn't like chocolate, yes they exist too.... Inquired whether there was an alternative. No, the kitchen says it's just with chocolate, so that's a shame (that's what it came down to). What was a bit disappointing is that none of the sweets were made in-house, it was pulled straight out of the bag. The sandwiches were good (homemade), the corn dog and churros were also tasty. All in all, I won't go here for high tea again. We all agreed on that. Fortunately, the 25% discount made up for it somewhat.

Went today for mother's day, i could quick make a reservation online,asked for terrace and there it is! They have a good lunch kaart,the 3 gangen menu is perfect,compliments to kitchen and service, finally a place where workers do their job. We were really full and happy

What happened here?! We regularly visited De Beren in Houten, especially for the children because of the bouncy castle. But after tonight we won't be back. The ribeye was dry and inedible. Unfortunately we could not indicate this, because the service was really bad. It turned out that our food had not been properly communicated to the kitchen. When I asked about the 2nd course free promotion, the hostess responded bluntly: “If you had read the conditions, you would know that it does not apply today.” While there were no conditions anywhere. At checkout we indicated that we were not satisfied at all. All we got back was: “I will speak to my colleagues about it.” Very unfortunate. We always enjoyed coming here, but after tonight we will look for another restaurant that is fun and hospitable for children.

Super restaurant, very sweet staff

We have been coming here for years, restaurants are in a good location, free parking, nice bouncy castle. The food is always delicious, but be careful with the promotions, there are often promotions, but the last few times the staff has confused them themselves. As a result, we were misinformed and it cost us more, even though we took advantage of a promotion. Unfortunately it was very busy at the time and the owner was not open to anything, which is a shame. Small blemish, but don't let this deter you, good food.

Een slechte ervaring. Een varkenshaasje besteld. Het was idd een varkenshaasje. Een stukje van 10cm lang en 1 cm dik. Het werd lauw bijna koud geserveerd met 5 plakjes wortel en 6 plakjes aubergine en een heel klein bakje champignonsaus. Ik moest na afloop nog bijna nog langs een fastfood restaurant zo weinig was het. Dus voor mij geen Beren meer.

If you have lunch here, I recommend the classic hamburger. Simply delicious. You get a nice salad and delicious fries. The service was really great and before you know it your food is on the table. It's also nice to spend time there and coincidentally there was a promotion where you got a dish for free because they've been around for 20 years. My daughter had a carpattio and she enjoyed it too.

It was so nicely decorated, already in the Christmas mood. The service was smooth and nice. Enjoyed the spare ribs, this time they were really good, steaming hot and tasty with the strikes, that was a pleasure. Fries now come in separate portions, and you first receive them per group, then you can order more later. At first we thought that was strange, but it turned out to be useful, because now you had a fresh portion of warm fries after the spareribs, which tastes better! We had brunch here with a group of girls as the start of a bachelor party. It was all arranged well and quickly!

My friend and I quickly looked for a place to eat! Fortunately, because of ideal and free parking, we ended up at the bears in wooden! Great choice! Our waitress Nikita was super friendly and social. I often saw her just chatting with customers and I could tell that she was having fun! The meat was absolutely delicious as she promised!

We had a great evening. Our place was nicely decorated with balloons etc. because of our 45th wedding anniversary. The food was also delicious and well taken care of, we have only had positive reactions. And we are sure that you will see your guests again. Also compliments for the service and the kitchen, despite the fact that it was packed in the restaurant, the food and the presentation were great and the service was very attentive and super friendly. Wij hebben bij de Beren gegeten 3 gangen voor € 32,50. Het personeel voerde de hele tijd een act op, heel irritant, daarvoor ga je niet uit eten denk ik dan. Toen wij zijn eigen tekst teruggaven, was hij even van slag. Over het eten de geitenkaas Kroketjes vielen een beetje tegen. De zalm was erg droog en de Apple Crumble was verbrand. Toen ik daar over klaagde werd er enkel gezegd, ik zal het aan de keuken doorgeven en dat was het dan... geen terugkoppeling, geen uitleg helemaal niets. nee dit was een teleurstelling. heel jammer. de Beren in Utrecht is alweer weg, en dat verbaasd mij niet.

We had a nice lunch here! I will advise you to sit in the restaurant if you don't like the sound of children playing and screaming while eating. Yesterday we used our extended Kruitvatbon voucher for 2 people, 3 course menu. Choice was sufficient, food delicious, service super. Nothing was too much for them. We will definitely come back and recommend this restaurant to everyone.

De bediening bij De Beren Houten was heel aardig. De entourage was prima en zo ook het eten. Echter hebben wij een menu genomen en ze vroegen: met gewone friet of van zoete aardappel? Ik koos voor zoete aardappel. Bij het afrekenen moest ik 2 euro meer afrekenen. Had ze wel even kunnen zeggen. Stond op de kaart, zei ze. Toen ik daar keek, klopt het, heel klein rechtsonder. En ik had zelfs ook voor gratis brood kunnen kiezen of tegen betaling nog meer smaken friet. Hetzelfde geldt voor het toetje: ik wees aan op de kaart: 'speciale koffie' + 2,50. Bij afrekenen was het + 4. Die ik bestelde was duurder, zei ze. Had ze direct moeten zeggen. Het gaat me niet direct om het geld, maar wel om het principe. Ik wil geen verrassingen achteraf. Ik heb het gemeld. Ik zou zeggen, doe de koffie gratis en los het op. Maar nee, de kassa is kassa en er kan niets verander worden.

We ate at the Beren in Houten for the first time, and I must admit that we ate well there, with a wide choice on the menu. Even though we had made a wrong reservation, it was no problem at all to get a table, the owner of the restaurant solved it without any problem. Great job. The staff is also very friendly and helpful (especially waitress Floor :-)) but that actually goes for everyone who works there, they do a lot of work to satisfy the customers, which they managed to do despite the crowds. As for the decoration of the restaurant, it was also well maintained and pleasantly decorated. in short, a big 10! And definitely recommend.
