Whenever we want to sit down and eat pizza in Hilversum, we always end up at the wood-fired oven. Never disappointed in all these years. Make sure to make a reservation on Friday or Saturday evenings. Sometimes, with luck, we've gotten through without a reservation. The chefs and staff are also friendly. They've been there for years. Keep up the good work.

No doubt about it: the best pizza in town! We came in at the last minute for a calzone and Napoli... and it was simply amazing! The care they take after the pizza comes out of the oven is a treat: a little oil, herbs, Parmesan, and finally, arugula. Delicious 🥰

Heel vriendelijk personeel en heerlijk gegeten. We kwamen zonder reservering binnen en ondanks de drukte kregen we tafeltje. We hebben zelf aangegeven alleen snel een pizzaatje te eten, maar we werden gewoon relaxed behandeld. Top!

Very good pizzeria with an authentic wood oven, delicious pizzas for a fair price, but I recommend booking in advance because the number of tables is limited, the staff is very friendly, and the stated pick-up times are almost always met, there is quite a lot of (paid) parking in front of the door.

The pizzas here are tasty, made with fresh ingredients and dough, but they are on the smaller side. Service, however, could use some improvement. Our waitress seemed inexperienced, she didn’t offer any recommendations or guidance, just took our order and served the food. Additionally, when the restaurant is full, they simply turn customers away without suggesting alternatives, like waiting for a table or ordering takeout. It feels like they’re not very interested in actually selling their product, which is a missed opportunity.

After a walk we had a delicious meal at the Houtoven: delicious well-filled pizzas, tasty wines and good espresso with cannelloni. Just a very good thing. Go taste it!

Excellent service. Beautiful coffee. Pizzas could be a bit crispier. A somewhat dated layout.

The food is always delicious. It's a pity they don't bring it home. It's a small restaurant and that means you're a bit stressed. You can pick up pizzas or order them.

I don't understand all the positive reviews. Pizza is baked too long and the consistency of the dough is not good in my opinion. In any case, the bottom and edges are far too dry, hard and dull. Like eating toast. Frozen pizza from the supermarket tastes better.

Called in time in the afternoon to pick up 2 pizzas, in the evening they were ready on time. Fresh and delicious ingredients. Delicious thin, crispy base and not too greasy. It is a small, but cozy and cozy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. We have found our new favorite in Hilversum!

The value for money of this restaurant leaves much to be desired. The dough is rolled out with a machine, which makes you question whether the dough is even homemade. The basic ingredients used were far from special. The margarita was disappointing, while the calzone was still somewhat decent. Unfortunately not a place I would visit again.

Still gave 'only' three stars for the food. The sandwich beforehand was perfect. Lightly seasoned with butter. Very tasty. House wine (Verdejo) beautifully dry and wonderfully fruity. We were a little less enthusiastic about the pizza. We were allowed to put it together ourselves. In our opinion the topping was too heavy. We like it more subtle. Not a disaster in itself, you can always pick something up. The biggest negative for us was the cheese. Too salty and too much. After a few slices of pizza, the salt took over the taste of the pizza. All in all, a great stay at the Houtoven. The service was excellent 👍🏻

Very friendly and chic little (and I mean little) pizzeria. The menu is clear, but the pizzas are even more delicious. The tiramisu is to die for. Reasonably priced. Reservation recommended.

This is not really Italian in style but the pizza is just like they do it in Italy and cooked in a proper wood fired pizza oven. Our pizzas were fabulous, with loads of yummy toppings. Service was spot on. The eat in part is very small so be sure to book at busy times. We were able to walk in on a Monday night. My partner particularly liked the little caddy to hold the pizza cutter! Prices were entirely reasonable, E40 for 2 pizzas and 2 beers with water and some very nice starter bread thrown in.

The pizza chef spoke downright antisocially, the owner must not have been present because that cannot last in the country with such staff who work like that. Very unfortunate because the pizza is good to eat. But not for me anymore.

Fancy a pizza, then the Houtoven is a good choice, affordable and tasty, the service is absolutely excellent, genuinely attentive, the number of guests that the Houtoven can receive is limited so reservations are useful, I visited again 8-7- 24 and the pizza was absolutely great, the service was excellent as expected and very attentive, there is even a (secret) Super Heroine working there, thank you Jinte and all your nice colleagues👍greetings and good luck from Hansch✌️

Takeaway pizzas were good. Be careful, the 22 cm pizza is very small! I advise you to choose 30, it is an optimal size. Good value for money

Recently went here for the first time. easily accessible and there was parking in the surrounding area. friendly staff. the pizza was really 10/10. you can dine on site and also take away. highly recommended!

Delicious pizzas, but a bit of a restless atmosphere because of the small restaurant and the many take-away customers who always come to pick up pizza. Service was also okay, a bit too intense for me. I think the server came by 8 times. And we only had 1 course.

A good review last year, but unfortunately, this review is not so good. Not because of the pizzas because they are really good. But the service is downright bad with constantly changing young people who do not feel like working or are not interested in what they are doing. It is also a shame that you can no longer spontaneously go out for a pizza; A good sign of course is that they are always full, but that can easily happen in such a small restaurant. We have dropped out, and we think that is a bit of a shame.

We've been getting pizza here for years. Unfortunately, they become too expensive and too salty! Especially the one from yesterday, artichoke was broom salt, why? The bottom was soft and full of oil, different from normal. There were also all kinds of new young people walking around. Therefore: Is it still “the old” wood-burning oven?

Afgelopen week ben ik gaan eten bij de Houtoven. Vaak gehoord van het restaurant maar nog nooit gegeten. Enorm vriendelijk personeel en een leuke ervaring om de steenoven te zien vanuit het restaurant. Ik heb in tijden niet zo'n lekkere pizza gegeten. De pizza houtoven is echt geweldig. Dikke aanrader.

Heerlijk gegeten. Top bediening en mooi restaurant. Niet erg groot maar dat zorgt wel voor een mooie sfeer. Voor een top pizza moet je hier zijn.

21:45u afgerekend en vertrokken, maar werd behoorlijk gepusht om te vertrekken (lampen gingen uit, buitendeur werd wagenwijd opengezet, stoelen werden op de tafels geplaatst, ik werd nijdig aangekeken, etc.); - Mannelijke blonde medewerker/kok was behoorlijk onvriendelijk en verweet me dat hij mij al heel vaak heeft moeten zeggen dat ze 21:30 echt sluiten; -Ditmaal werd mij om iets na 21:00 nog een wijntje aangeboden wat ik heb geaccepteerd, ook omdat er nog andere gasten waren die nog een tiramisu en koffie bestelden; - Deze gasten vertrokken 5-10 min. voor mij (dus 21:35), maar ik werd onvriendelijk bejegend, terwijl ik al sinds 2011 vaste klant ben en wekelijks de zaak bezoek om vaak uitgebreid te eten/drinken; - Toen ik de kok aansprak op zijn onvriendelijke/ongastvrije gedrag, werd hij geïrriteerd en duwde mij haast de zaak uit. Heel onbetamelijk; - Kortom, ik hoop (en verwacht eigenlijk) dat de eigenaar van deze zaak hier iets aan doet en mij benadert voor een passende oplossing, want ik vind deze onheuse behandeling, zeer ongepast, onbehoorlijk en onacceptabel, zeker voor een gast die al sinds 2011 vaste (wekelijkse) klant is.

Praktisch naast m’n huis Prima pizzaria, met goeie afhaal (Wel even bellen van te voren, is er vaak druk) Eén van de beste die er in het gooi te vinden is.

Erg leuke Pizzaria waar met aandacht professionele pizza’s worden gemaakt. Aardige bediening en leuk om alles in de keuken te kunnen zien. Helaas is de ruimte erg klein waardoor de afhalers iets te dicht op sommige tafeltjes staan, maar dat is dan het enige wat minder is aan deze Pizzaria. Heerlijke pizza’s!

Really nice local pizzeria. The food is simple and nice, and the place has a very cozy atmosphere. I would recommend this place and will definitely return with friends. It only has a handful of tables, so book in advance.

Weliswaar wat klein van binnen maar het blijft by far de lekkerste pizzabakker van Hilversum. Optijd zijn met bestellen anders wat langere wachttijd. Maar dan heb je wel een echte houtoven pizza!

Heerlijk eten! Zo gastvrij! Ik belde omdat er bij thuisbezorgd (ander restaurant) iets heel erg mis was gegaan. Met de vraag hoelang het zou duren voor er 3 pizza’s klaar zouden zijn. Dit zou 35 minuten duren. Dat was voor ons te lang aangezien ons dochtertje van 3 moet eten. Dit gaf ik aan en toen konden zij regelen voor ons dat de 3 pizza’s binnen een kwartier klaar konden zijn. Geweldige service! Echt bedankt! 🙏

Klein restaurant, ik denk dat de meeste gasten afhalen. De stenen oven met vuur waar je de pizza's in gebakken ziet worden is erg leuk. De pizza is lekker en de eigenaar is ontzettend leuke voor kinderen!

Heerlijke Italiaanse pizza’s. Had er 10 besteld en dit was keurig op tijd klaar. Pizza’s zijn zelf gemaakt met verse producten en niet vet. Al met al top!

Love this place! Only a few tables inside, so we usually take out. Pizzas are delicious out of the wood oven.

De pizza's die we afhaalden hadden een mooie dunne bodem en waren op tijd klaar. Alleen de schijfjes zwarte olijf op mijn 'Houtoven Deluxe' smaakten nergens naar. Verder had ik een gorgonzola-spinazie en een gorgonzola-brocolli pizza besteld maar ik kreeg twee gorgonzola-spinazie (zonder dat daar iets over werd gezegd). Dat er een keer een ingrediënt op is, daar kan ik inkomen, maar geef dat dan even aan bij de klant.
