We've often sat on the terrace, and now we've been for dinner. They have a Chateaubriand on the menu, and we really wanted to try it. It's delicious! A combination of surf and turf with prawns. For a reasonable price. It was already in the Christmas spirit, very early, but definitely a wonderful atmosphere. And the service was incredibly cheerful and customer-friendly!

Lovely terrace and very tasty food, but I found the burger very medium rare. A lot of food, not cheap (but not expensive either), and hardly any vegetarian options. Inside, we were once seated at a table that was too small: we were celebrating my mother's birthday, so I didn't say anything (she finds it annoying, and it was very busy).

We both ordered a hamburger, and that was it! No fries, very meager for €17.50 per person!

Stopped here for lunch. The terrace was well-filled and sunny, so very inviting. The sun was warm, but unfortunately, the service wasn't. Just smiling every time you speak to someone isn't an issue. I had to wait half an hour for my focaccio, which was quite good and sufficient. Overall, I was disappointed.

No one here at 10:30. Teaming with rain and asked gentleman if we could sit under cover and wait for opening at 11:00. He agreed. Then rudely told to move by young woman because if we sat there, others would too!! No one anywhere nearby!!!! And we were going to eat!!! Ridiculous and deserves appalling as rating for service and atmosphere !!!!

We only had a drink there and nothing to eat. The service was good, the location by the water was ideal, but the prices were exorbitant. We paid €11 for a beer and a soft drink!

Cappuccino and apple pie. Cappuccino was a weak affair. And apple pie, I think, from the freezer. Because that's what it tasted like. And the person serving us didn't seem to enjoy her job very much either. A lot of money, 20 euros. I know, everything is expensive. But I want it to be good.

My son and I had delicious mussels at De Kade on Friday. The service was friendly and attentive. We had a lovely evening. Thanks!

De Kade has been a great restaurant for years, with cozy decor and delicious food. For a birthday, we rented its little sister, Cafe de Markt, which is also operated by De Kade. It was a very successful evening and well-organized. Thanks!

What an unpleasant bartender, refused us a beer at 21:59 and said he did not need our money

Unfortunately, the owners were very unfriendly... It's a shame, we would have loved to eat there.

We stopped there during a bike ride from Moniquedamm. We were able to place our order quickly, which was very convenient after the ride. They also had vegetarian dishes, which were okay, but not so impressive that I would order them again. The outdoor area is right on the street, but offers a beautiful view of the harbor, where you can see the ships coming and going. Unfortunately, the restroom is only accessible via an extremely steep staircase, which isn't suitable for everyone. The location is very well maintained, and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive. Payment was accepted with both cash and card – it was all hassle-free.

The four of us went for lunch. The menu was sparse and unimaginative, as was the food. The lunch platter consisted of a small glass of mustard soup, some carpaccio, and bread with a pale croquette. The frittata looked like it came straight from a chemical factory. The soup came with a diagonally cut slice of white bread and a small tub of butter. The cheese on the focaccia toasted sandwich hadn't melted, and the ketchup still added some flavor. The avocado toast had a mountain of scrambled eggs, which was the best at our table. Table water costs €7 for 75 cl. The side order of fries (2 x €4.50) was mediocre. It's because we enjoyed a beautiful view (that made the lunch special). But having to pay €80 for a simple lunch is quite a (quay) hangover.

We stopped here for coffee and cake during a day out in the area, I got the apple cake - unfortunately it was wet I don’t know why or how it was so wet but it was very unpleasant so would not recommend it, on the other hand my daughter had the raspberry mousse cake and a smoothie both of which were very good. It was expensive and but sitting where we were with the view of the harbour was nice so in terms of whether it was good value, I didn’t feel completely ripped off.

The place is perfect; it's lovely to watch the boats. I think the staff was having a bad day today. They barely managed to greet us, and because we couldn't decide what to drink within five seconds of sitting down, they simply stayed away for about ten minutes. We had to ask for a menu from the neighbors, and when we ordered, they were very curt. Drinks arrived very quickly, but the food took ages, even though it wasn't busy. The focaccia, by the way, is quite different from what we got. It was delicious, though; the chef certainly has a knack for that. Even when we paid, there wasn't a smile or a friendly word. So, no tip this time...

During my visit to De Kade in Hoorn, I immediately felt the relaxed atmosphere that so perfectly suits this historic port city. The terrace is a wonderful place to relax: you sit right on the quay with a view of cyclists and passersby, creating a lively atmosphere without being overly crowded. The old building, with its characteristic façade, adds to the charm of the experience. We opted for a leisurely lunch, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs, beautifully presented on crusty multigrain bread, generously topped with a touch of spice from chili flakes and fresh pomegranate seeds. A dish that was not only filling but also perfectly balanced in flavor. My dining companion enjoyed a crispy baguette generously topped with pulled pork, a light dressing, and fresh vegetables. Both dishes were served on colorful tableware that further emphasized their freshness. What struck me most, however, was the hospitality of the staff. Not only were they friendly and efficient in their service, but they also thought along with us. Our dog was immediately offered a bowl of water, without us having to ask. Little touches like that make a big difference and make you feel truly welcome. Practical tip: parking is within walking distance at the harbor, and from there you can easily walk to De Kade. It's especially popular around lunchtime, so arriving a little earlier gives you a better chance of a good spot on the terrace. In short: De Kade in Hoorn is a must for anyone who enjoys good food, a cozy atmosphere, and service with a smile. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Op zaterdag 16 augustus met zijn zesen gegeten bij restaurant de Kade in Hoorn. Ze hadden 1 tafeltje beschikbaar tot 19 uur (ruim 1.5 uur de tijd). De lokatie is schitterend je kijkt uit op de haven met op de achtergrond de " hoofdtoren uit 1532". We hebben gekozen voor een to share menu. Wij hadden (zie foto voor het menu) Dry Aged Ribeye 400 gr De anderen 2x surf& turf Chayeaubriand 400 gr. Met reuzen Gamba's De Chayeaubriand was heerlijk net als de gamba's super lekker. Verder zatten er.nog lekkere groente omheen. De Ribeye was helaas niet goed aan de ene kant rauw en een andr deel hard doorbakken. Ik heb het nog wel gemeld bij de serveerster en ze was bereid om het mee te nemen naar de keuken. We zaten best in tijdnood dus ik dacht laat maar zitten. Mijn schoonzoon niet en hij vroeg of de baas kon komen en heeft alles aan hem uitgelegd. Deze gaf te kennen dat ze problemen hadden met deze ribeye, hij had het meer gehoord. Hij gaf aan te besluiten het van de kaart te halen. De Ribeye hoefden wij niet af te rekenen ( bijna 72 euro), ook hadden wij de mogelijkheid iets anders van de kaart uit te kiezen en konden wij de tafel langer houden, wij hadden echter geen tijd meer omdat wij terug moesten naar Apeldoorn en ook nog een uurtje wilden genieten van de kermis.Hij was zo vriendelijk en correct echt chapeau!

Very slow to order, they would walk right past you and not even look, and even slower to serve, a beer and a lemonade took 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, I don't recommend it (anymore)! We've visited this restaurant three times now. Last time, we were very disappointed because the service was quite unfriendly and very inattentive. We also had to wait a long time for everything, and the food wasn't particularly good. The location is nice, right by the harbor (but also on a busy road) - but the poor service, the high prices, and the unsatisfying food outweigh the negative impression.

A super cozy restaurant, and the terrace was lovely. After ordering something that wasn't quite to my liking, I was able to choose something else without having to pay extra. The staff is incredibly friendly and skilled, which is rare. We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful restaurant with a cozy sunny terrace. The staff is young and seems inexperienced. Dishes were repeatedly presented incorrectly. Some guests who arrived later received their food first. The wait for food was very long, even though it wasn't busy. The bread was very hard and dried out, and the spread for two people came in very small containers. You barely taste any garlic in the yellow aioli, but the herb butter was delicious. We had three dishes with a *star, which means they included fries and salad. The mussels and satay with peanut sauce and peppers were delicious. The hamburger was not tasty, a greasy lump of meat with a soggy slice of bacon, not crispy. With the three main courses, we only received two containers of fries, two small containers of mayonnaise, and one container of salad. Even though the menu stated that these were included with all three dishes, and we were three adults with big appetites. This made it uncomfortable to eat and share the food. It's also not nice that the third person has to dip into someone else's bowl of mayo, which they dip twice with a bitten-off piece of fries. We were explained that one salad comes with the mussels, while the satay and hamburger already come with lettuce. Well, the satay came with one lettuce leaf and a small amount of pickled vegetables, which was more like a garnish. And the hamburger came with some lamb's lettuce and a slice of tomato, as described, but no salad. Our table companion with the mussels then gave the others a little salad, but the situation wasn't very pleasant. The salad was very tasty, with a good dressing and roasted pine nuts. We felt misled by the lack of fries, mayo, two salads, and dry bread with two small sauces. All in all, we won't be dining here again anytime soon.

The sort of place that makes me angry! Smashburger? Sounds great right. Even at €17.50 it sounds great because that's what one has to pay in rip-off Holland these days. But €17.50 for a burger with no fries? Now THAT's a ripoff! But wait! There's more. The smashburger wasn't even smashed! Not even close to being smashed! I doubt they even had the right implement (cast iron skillet) for smashing a piece of beef in the kitchen. This was NOT a smashburger! But wait! There's even more! The burger wasn't even made of BEEF! It was clearly made of something else and tasted of something weird. Beef + other bits from the abattoir? Sadly this is not the first time we've had rubbish FAKE "beef"burgers in NL. The fries at €4.50 were HOT. So there's that. They didn't taste of anything but at least hot. My sandwich - a ham and cheese focaccia toastie - had pitiful amounts of ham, very little cheese but lashings of mayonnaise and the focaccia tasted dusty. In fairness after complaining about the non-smashed, non-beef burger the staff were pleasant enough about switching it out for a very good buratta sandwich. And the views from outside of Hoorn are absolutely lovely. But the restaurant is simply trading on lovely views to bring in the punters. If it was anywhere else it would be out of business and, frankly, in my opinion, it should be. Service-wise it was OK. Oh, and the beer was cold. They couldn't screw that up coz it came in its own bottle! Otherwise this was an absolutely shocking place.

The lunch was delicious, and the terrace is beautifully situated. The service was friendly. When I paid, the price was higher than I expected, but the price for a soft drink isn't listed on the menu. In retrospect, I think it must have been out of proportion.

Starter carpaccio was small but tasty and of good quality. The main course was a very mediocre hamburger both in size and quality. A hefty price is asked for this. Service was friendly but not very attentive.

I love coming to this place all year round. The food is always tasty and staff friendly. You can enjoy the terrasse with the Hoorn's Harbour: In the winter you can sit outside with the heaters on and in the summer you can enjoy the sun until late.

What a wonderful meal we had on the terrace by the water! The atmosphere is relaxed, the view is beautiful and we were kindly helped by a nice, young man who really enjoyed his work. The mussels were fantastic - super fresh and perfectly prepared. Really recommended for a nice evening out. We will definitely come back to De Kade more often!

Lovely cosy cafe with a nice view of the canal and inner harbour. Nice coffee and drinks and good pastries with several choices. Window in the floor to see the beer machine was an interesting bonus. Smooth and friendly service

The cappuccino was nice and hot and the accompanying lemon nougat was delicious. The service was friendly. The factory apple pie straight from the fridge is a real downer. And then 19 euros for 2 of each is exorbitant.

I originally went to DeKade because i wanted To get kibbeling. I had searched for the best kibbeling online and it said that this restaurant had one of the best. Nope, they didn’t have it at all. So i ended up getting bitteballen. It was good and the waitress was very nice.

Ik heb met het gezin voor €100,- besteed. Even naar de toilet was er niet eens even bij. Ok ik weet dat het Koningsdag is maar wij waren erg vroeg, totaal geen publiek buiten en wij waren werkelijk de enige gasten. Sorry maar dit kan echt niet. Gemaakte gezelligheid

Lunch on the De Kade terrace with beautiful views. Everything is sufficient and the service is cordial. Attractive interior, including the toilet. Funny, and that's how a case stays with you.

Lemon tea: hot water with 2 slices of lemon. 3.50 Euro Cortado: taste ok but cold 3.50 Euro. How can this be served like this. We wanted to have dinner but decided to leave without dinner after such a worse experience.

Nice restaurant. Food meh. Starter (dumplings) was ok but strangely greasy sauce. Main course (beef stew) was just not tasty. You eat better at the average soup kitchen. If I had opened a can of Struyk we might have had a better meal. It was sour and the meat had run through or past it, the dessert could only be better, we thought. Well, it wasn't. Two pale tartelettes with chocolate mousse. It all didn't taste fresh and not well prepared. Furthermore, young and sweet staff but completely incompetent. Way too expensive for small portions and not tasty food.

Nice place to eat. Great service. Even though my satay was lukewarm twice, it was still very tasty. My wife had a stew and I can't recommend it myself. I thought the sauce was way too strong and you couldn't taste the game at all. My wife thought it was OK.

Warm welcome, delicious food, all 4 courses were SUPER for a reasonable price, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, in short it was a wonderfully cozy evening.

It's a pretty restaurant facing the harbour where one can only imagine the charm of looking over the harbour while eating. We stopped only for hot drinks on a windy day. The drinks were of good Dutch standard. The service was a bit subpar in my opinion, but that could be because it was extremely busy on a Sunday afternoon.

Had lunch here with 4 people. Very warm welcome. Cozy atmosphere. The croquettes on floor bread were very tasty. The ham sandwiches with honey sauce were also well received. Price/quality ratio is good.

Het is een zeer gezellig en aantrekkelijk restaurantje om naartoe te gaan, wij waren hier met de lunch. Ze hebben leuke en gezellige hoekjes gecreëerd waarbij je mooi uitzicht hebt over de mooie plekjes van Hoorn. Ik had hier een broodje carpaccio wat prima is. Prijs kwaliteit was prima.

Bought a voucher for a 4 course menu. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. Amuse and starter very little. Salmon tartare was tasty. Tournedos was good, but not special. We had to pay extra per dish and extra for side dishes. Advice, don't buy a voucher and just order from the menu.

Nice old restaurant and not very big. I had the fish and it was very overcooked, the structure was gone and very greasy. Too bad, because the rest was good. And the price wasn't too bad.

I have been eating here 3 times a week for 8 months and what wonderful service and top kitchen!!! If you are in the area, this is highly recommended for a tasty and enjoyable meal and drink. WHAT A GREAT TENT!!!!

Gezellig restaurant om te lunchen. Wij hadden een lunchplank en toast met roerei en gerookte zalm. De lunchplank was perfect. Twee sneetjes vloerbrood met kroket, carpaccio, puntje omelet en een soepje. Jammer dat de lunchplank er niet is in een vis of vega variant. De toast met roerei was ook lekker, maar ik vond het erg karig dat er maar één snee brood onder lag. Het beleg was voldoende voor 2 sneetjes. Als je ergens een uitsmijter besteld krijg je ook minimaal 2 sneetjes brood. Ook was het brood niet geroosterd, wat de menukaart wel suggereert met ' toast'.

A few weeks ago we had dinner with 4 people. We sat in the corner by the window. It was very cold there, the wind just blew in. I asked if the heater could be turned up, which was not done. No other place either. They will come. with the story that it is an old building, well that's what all the buildings in the city center are. Dessert was coffee with ice cream, cold coffee. After 2 scoops, my ice cream was gone. No, I won't go here again

This place is okay for a drink. The lunch menu is very limited, and farmer's chips are just chips from a bag.

Last night I had dinner with friends at Restaurant de Kade, and I can only say that it was a great experience. Although we were unable to make our 6:00 PM reservation due to public transport disruptions, the restaurant really did their best to accommodate us at 7:30 PM. When I called and explained the situation, they immediately responded and eventually the (presumed) owner arranged for us to be accommodated. That personal gesture was really nice and showed that they attach great importance to service. A friend of ours has multiple allergies, which is often difficult in restaurants. Here that was no problem at all; they took her dietary requirements into account perfectly and did this without any fuss or complications. The food itself was delicious and varied, with something for everyone. The portions were generous (Read: Large) and the dishes looked beautiful. Whether you like a simple dish or want to try something special, you've come to the right place. All in all a wonderful evening with excellent service and delicious food! I have been here before and will definitely come back again.

Great place to sit with a view of the harbor of Hoorn. However, we had to wait a very long time, call the waitress and still not come. Waiting 45 minutes for a snack board and a loaf of bread and then sending out the wrong thing. Quality of the food varies. Olives seem to be from a can, nachos were fine, the vegetable chips that were promised were natural chips from a bag, both ribbed and without ribbed ones 🤦🏼. Unfortunately not worth repeating.
