A samosa should be made with chickpea flour, but this one was wrapped in empanada dough. We asked for a specific brand of cava, and they brought us whatever they wanted (we told them, and at first they said it was the same brand because the name was similar, but when we argued, they said they were out). The mussels were delicious, but it was an experience I definitely would NOT repeat.

Ordered the chateaubriand to share, for an astronomical amount considering how much you get for it. Too little, and afterwards we drove to McDonald's because we weren't full. And that for €120. Plus the tiger prawns were just a pile of sand in your mouth instead of a juicy piece of fish.

A truly well-kept place. We only stopped for a drink, but we were pleasantly impressed by the attention to detail. The service was super friendly, and the location was stunning, overlooking the marina. The beer was truly excellent.

Unfortunately, not what we had expected. We had made a reservation and were given a small table on the curb along a road where cars and scooters sometimes sped past. I immediately asked for a different table because we could barely hear each other. That was not possible, and no further effort was made to arrange it. We both had carpaccio as a starter. Both were a different color. I asked if this was okay. "Yes, that was perfectly fine," they said. Well, that said it all. I think it was carpaccio from the freezer that had been reheated, but kept a little too long. Very disappointing. The main course was okay. It's a shame you pay a lot of money for poor service.

Had a wonderful evening with a friend! We had reserved a pot of mussels via a deal and were absolutely not disappointed. We sat in a lovely spot on the terrace, enjoying the evening sun, with a nice glass of wine. The mussels were very tasty. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and the staff was friendly and attentive. All in all, we had a fantastic evening, exactly what you hope for when you go out for a nice dinner together. We will definitely be back here soon!

Owner with an ego too big to face the truth. The food was fine, but very expensive for what you get. Apart from that, the owner was very unpleasant and uninterested towards his employees. It is remarkable how this place is still holding out.

Super cozy, intimate, beautiful restaurant on the stunning harbor of Hoorn. Our table looked literally into the kitchen, and it is incredibly fun to watch the chef (Bart) at work. He also just strikes up a conversation with you whenever he has a moment. The rest of the staff is also spontaneous and friendly. Then the food; simply incredibly good. We had the tasting platter as a starter because we couldn't decide. I have never tasted such flavorful and tender carpaccio. The salmon, risotto croquettes, and even a wild mushroom soup were all incredibly flavorful. After that, the Surf & Turf as the main course. All I can say is: highly recommended! Argentine beef tenderloin and prawns cooked just right. Oh yes, and all that for a very reasonable price! Edit: 13/8/2026: Years later, still incredibly good. We have returned several times since then and have even hosted a party there twice. Always enthusiastic service, good food, and organization. Top-notch!

This restaurant was fine. The food was good, but for the price, I expected more. The service was otherwise okay and the staff did their best, but it was very noticeable that the owner came across as very rude and treated the staff, and sometimes guests, in a blunt manner. The atmosphere was average. All in all, a reasonable experience, but not something I would return to anytime soon due to the price-quality ratio and the owner's behavior.

We had a delicious fish of the day: tuna steak with stir-fried vegetables and noodles. Flavorful and not too heavy. The Bread and Butter and dark chocolate mousse desserts were also delicious.

The food was okay. The value for money was rather mediocre. The service left much to be desired. Instead of a large beer and a large bottle of water, we received small ones. We only got the menu after asking for it. Empty glasses were simply left untouched. Our online reservation was confirmed but not taken into account. So, many small things spoiled the experience at the harbor.

Went to have lunch with kids (2 and 5). We ordered something simple, a few tosti's, french fries, and a croquet sandwich but despite that it took over an hour between ordering and the food to arrive. When we pointed this out to the waitress (including that people who arrived much after got served waaay before) she was quite unpleasant and obnoxious about it and didn't bother to even apologize for the long wait. I would recommend to go here when you have the time. The location is great. Don't go here with young kids (they dont seem to care) or if you are otherwise on the clock..

Friendly service and a nice location right in the harbor. We just expected fries with an €18 burger, which had a very meager slice of meat on it that was also overcooked. Otherwise, a fine place.

Beautifully situated little restaurant. Atmospheric, great seating. We had actually planned to have dinner as well. But the lady (short light hair) who served us was so curt and unfriendly that we abandoned that idea...

Prime location by the harbor. We did not think the price-quality ratio was right. The hamburger costs €17.75 at lunch but €24.95 at dinner, though you get a side of fries with it. So together you pay €14.40 for a side of fries with a little mayonnaise. Furthermore, we did not find the hamburger particularly special. We will not be coming back here. But the terrace was full, so perhaps we are being too critical.

Very beautiful and sunny terrace, cozy interior. The disappointment was the fish of the day. Okay, it was late on a Saturday evening and maybe the fish is almost sold out, but then don't sell it anymore. The portion was perhaps 100 grams, and that is too little. Also, when I gave feedback to the wait staff, there was no response. Additionally, I noticed an error in the alcohol percentage of the IPA. 6.5% instead of 4.5% makes quite a difference.

We both ate the Fish Platter. Unfortunately, it was far too salty, which ruined the dish. According to the staff, the reason was that it was done that way on purpose so they wouldn't have to carry salt shakers. We have never eaten anything so salty! The chipirones, fried squid rings, were also not good: you could only taste burnt breadcrumbs. After our complaint, we were given a small bowl of mussels that were not too salty, and those tasted good.

Food here was divine! Ordered the lunch platter and the chicken salad. It was delicious, the wait time was a little long but they were busy so we didn’t mind. The lady who served us was very friendly. Throughout our visit there were other customers who needed wheelchair access to the terrace and they were very quick to assist them and provide ramps which was very nice to see. Will definitely return here!

We had a super delicious meal and super good service.

We stopped by for a drink on the terrace earlier this week, and it was pleasant in itself. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was friendly, even singing while she worked, which made everything very relaxed. Unfortunately, what happened afterward completely overshadowed our experience. Right in front of us, while we were sitting on the terrace, we saw a man who was clearly part of the staff and wearing the same clothes as his colleagues intentionally incapacitate a pigeon with an object that was unclear to us. The bloodied pigeon fell dead from the sky, right in our view. Other customers who were eating at the time were also extremely shocked by this. The animal was then removed and swept towards the gutter, with feathers flying through the air. In the immediate vicinity, we saw two other dead pigeons lying there. The most shocking thing was that this happened in full view of colleagues, who seemed to think it was normal. We were in mild shock. To us, this felt like animal cruelty and unfortunately completely ruined the otherwise pleasant experience at this establishment.

We had lunch there. DK burger, tuna salad, and wine. The DK burger is 17 euros plus. That is also what you get! Burger with a bun and some sauce. No fries, no salad; McDonald's is better for that money. Tuna salad: 1 bun, some salad with some capers, lettuce smeared on it. 2nd bun served dry. Nothing special. Upon entering, the service was immediately on the table: "Would you like something to drink?" We immediately said yes, and also that we wanted to eat. After half an hour, we had to approach someone else to ask if we could order anything else. I dread the coming summer when it gets really busy.

The soup of the day was good in itself. We had also ordered bread with spreads, and then we were placed two small white rolls in front of us. The soup was also served with white bread. It turns out this restaurant doesn't know that not everyone likes white bread. The service was the worst part. A young girl, grumpy and unfriendly. My star rating is definitely a 1.

We’ve often sat on the terrace, and now for the second time for dinner. Because they have a Chateaubriand on the menu and we really wanted to try it. Super delicious! A combination of surf & turf with prawns. For a reasonable price. And incredibly cheerful and customer-friendly service! Every time. The young man who served our table even came over himself to ask if we could take a family photo. So thoughtful! Our drinks were kept a close eye on. Just as it should be, you don't have to pay attention to anything.

My favorite terrace is De Kade. I love going there for lunch, and the carpaccio in particular is delicious. The staff is very friendly.

Food below mediocre. There was something not ok with the duck, worst I ever tried, and I mentioned this, response was that it was it because was non-wild duck. It was too disgusting to consume for me, but there was no compesation or coulance whatsoever. The fish platter was ok but tasteless and overpriced. Even the fries were below mediocre. Service was kind and welcoming. Would not recommend eating here, but good atmosphere and view for drinks.

We had a wonderful meal and drinks at this beautiful, cozy restaurant. I would definitely recommend it!

We escaped the rain today and sat in the cozy conservatory. From there, you have a great view of the harbor and sit warm under a patio heater. It was quiet, so we could enjoy the atmosphere and chat. The service was very friendly and we were served quickly. We paid €10.50 for an Espresso Martini and €6 for a beer.

After a lovely walk through beautiful Hoorn, we enjoyed a cup of coffee and a delicious apple pie from Bakkerij Otten. The service was excellent, and it was tempting to enjoy another glass of wine. A top-notch location in Hoorn.

Lovely terrace and very tasty food, but I found the burger very medium rare. A lot of food, not cheap (but not expensive either), and hardly any vegetarian options. Inside, we were once seated at a table that was too small: we were celebrating my mother's birthday, so I didn't say anything (she finds it annoying, and it was very busy).

We both ordered a hamburger, and that was it! No fries, very meager for €17.50 per person!

Stopped here for lunch. The terrace was well-filled and sunny, so very inviting. The sun was warm, but unfortunately, the service wasn't. Just smiling every time you speak to someone isn't an issue. I had to wait half an hour for my focaccio, which was quite good and sufficient. Overall, I was disappointed.

No one here at 10:30. Teaming with rain and asked gentleman if we could sit under cover and wait for opening at 11:00. He agreed. Then rudely told to move by young woman because if we sat there, others would too!! No one anywhere nearby!!!! And we were going to eat!!! De Kade has been a great restaurant for years, with cozy decor and delicious food. For a birthday, we rented its little sister, Cafe de Markt, which is also operated by De Kade. It was a very successful evening and well-organized. Thanks!

What an unpleasant bartender, refused us a beer at 21:59 and said he did not need our money

Unfortunately, the owners were very unfriendly... It's a shame, we would have loved to eat there.

The four of us went for lunch. The menu was sparse and unimaginative, as was the food. The lunch platter consisted of a small glass of mustard soup, some carpaccio, and bread with a pale croquette. The frittata looked like it came straight from a chemical factory. The soup came with a diagonally cut slice of white bread and a small tub of butter. The cheese on the focaccia toasted sandwich hadn't melted, and the ketchup still added some flavor. The avocado toast had a mountain of scrambled eggs, which was the best at our table. Table water costs €7 for 75 cl. The side order of fries (2 x €4.50) was mediocre. It's because we enjoyed a beautiful view (that made the lunch special). But having to pay €80 for a simple lunch is quite a (quay) hangover.

We stopped there during a bike ride from Moniquedamm. We were able to place our order quickly, which was very convenient after the ride. They also had vegetarian dishes, which were okay, but not so impressive that I would order them again. The outdoor area is right on the street, but offers a beautiful view of the harbor, where you can see the ships coming and going. Unfortunately, the restroom is only accessible via an extremely steep staircase, which isn't suitable for everyone. The location is very well maintained, and the staff were consistently friendly and attentive. Payment was accepted with both cash and card – it was all hassle-free.

We stopped here for coffee and cake during a day out in the area, I got the apple cake - unfortunately it was wet I don’t know why or how it was so wet but it was very unpleasant so would not recommend it, on the other hand my daughter had the raspberry mousse cake and a smoothie both of which were very good. It was expensive and but sitting where we were with the view of the harbour was nice so in terms of whether it was good value, I didn’t feel completely ripped off.
