Enjoyed three courses, very tasty! Unfortunately, the duck was missing a sauce...it was still delicious. The highlight for me was dessert! Pine needle mousse! Delicious!!! I didn't know a Christmas tree could be so delicious.

Great location. Had dinner during a weekday (Thursday) and it was reasonably quiet, so we all could have conversations easily. The atmosphere was great and so was the food. I really enjoyed the Skuumkoppe beer. 🍻 Slept at the Heaven hotel above, which was also nice. Recommended, although maybe not so great with kids.

Unfortunately. 40 euros for a pathetic slice of unsalted ribeye, on a cold plate, with cold béarnaise. Béarnaise, by the way, contains curly parsley instead of tarragon. A huge mistake. It also comes with coleslaw and grapes!? Strange combination. I also tried the menu last week. A nice flavor combination in itself. But the execution and quantity are truly minimal. When I mentioned this, I was told, "Béarnaise should be cold." Okay, but the steak and the plate weren't (bearnaise wasn't either, but to each their own). Glasses and cutlery weren't polished, full of limescale, and leaking. The staff were preoccupied with everything, but not with the guest experience. I came here weekly for work (where I normally only had coffee or wine), and not once was a question asked. A missed opportunity; the ambiance is great. The kitchen and service lack passion and enthusiasm. The owner does show this, but the rest of the staff seems inexperienced. A lot of potential, but not even close to living up to it yet.

Stylish and beautifully converted church with ample seating and comfortable chairs and benches. We enjoyed a delicious lunch, recommending the shrimp croquettes and the Opera for dessert: a true culinary masterpiece! Attentive and friendly service from Noa and Judith.

Beautiful location with lovely decorations. Everything is great, except for the fact that for parties, you really feel like you're at a terrible festival with the drink selection. Standard wine, beer, soda, and mixed junk. And that's all, and it comes with tokens you have to buy. You can't even order whiskey or anything. Come on, we're all adults, don't treat us like children. You want people in there who can spend money too...

Had lunch at the Saint this afternoon; it was very pleasant and delicious. Great atmosphere and nice background music. And afterward, they even gave me a sweet handwritten thank-you note on the receipt.

Fantastic location and decor, one of the most beautiful establishments I've ever been to. The food is delicious.

What a fantastic location! Beautifully styled inside the church, with a glass ceiling that provides a view upwards into the hotel area. We ended up here for lunch. Many tables were already reserved, all by the windows. There were also a few round tables in the middle. We didn't choose a high table, but the last round one. The menu isn't typically West Frisian; more street food style. The tacos were tasty. Nothing special and not very generous, and two for 16 euros is quite a lot of money. The Bara with veal steak also lacked the flavors I'd expect when thinking of Suriname. More spice, more boldness. The seroendeng (coconut-peanut) was practically nonexistent, and the Surinamese pickle turned out to be just a slightly bland cucumber. It was quite pricey, though. The doppio was delicious. A lovely layer of crema, and what was particularly tasty was the (seemed homemade) Gouda Mop alongside it.

Beautiful location, amazing decoration and atmosphere but poorly trained staff and overpriced food. I am Dutch and live in Portugal - as I miss some food I asked for an off-menu dish (a Dutch specialty called “sateh”) as I believed I ordered this 1-2 years ago and liked it a lot. The waitress apparently didn’t like the ask and replied “they only serve culinary food and I should reconsider”. That didn’t felt great - but still not a show stopper as the lunch menu offered several options (mostly luxury sandwiches). We ordered a steak tartare and a Dutch shrimp croquet sandwich. Each sandwich was priced over 17 euros - hence expectations were set. When the food arrived, we were surprised with the minimalist portion of tartare (a soup spoon full) as well as the lack of almost any shrimp in the croquettes (we found 3 - remember Dutch shrimps are very tiny). No salad to the side, no side dishes and everything was served on a hotdog style bread. While the food was freshly made and the croquettes were tasty (but contained merely only ragout and no “meat”) - we felt we paid way too much for these dishes and were sorry we stayed after the initial remark of the waitress. It is a pity as the restaurant itself is absolutely amazing, but a strong signal it was nearly empty during lunchtime on a Saturday beautiful afternoon with the busy local market out on the street. The manager who we shared our unhappiness was very friendly, but there was no spontaneous initiative to make us leave happier. A small Dutch drink (oranjebitter or something else locally) when delivering the bill would likely have prevented this negative review. I usually do not leave a review for a place which I have negative feelings - I prefer to push forward what is good in life, I just could not leave this one.

We had a wonderful time. We are also very satisfied with everything. The service and her responses to questions were excellent. We interacted with Marleen frequently, both for drinks on the terrace and for dinner. She knows her business: attentive, discreet, and considerate—simply excellent. On the last day, Gabriel served us, so his experience was only from one day, but even then, there was nothing to complain about. In short, it was a wonderful few days.

A great place to relax for a drink or dinner. You really feel welcome. We've been coming here for years and keep coming back. A top-notch team.

Not a large menu, but beautiful flavors and presentation. The wine pairing was enjoyable and well-coordinated. The specialty coffee was also just as it should be, with whipped cream. Unfortunately, you don't see that very often anymore. The 4-star atmosphere is due to the relatively quiet Tuesday. The decor is very special. The use of the church space is beautifully done. We also enjoy staying in the beautiful hotel. It makes it a complete experience.

A weekend away with friends. We also slept wonderfully at the Saint. And on the first day, a delicious dinner. The table was a bit large, and it was quite dark. But otherwise, a fantastic evening with delicious food and excellent service.

Goed eten en drinken, vlotte bediening, sfeervol restaurant en gezellig terras. Je voelt je als gast erg welkom! Ontbijt is ook goed bevallen, genoeg keus om de dag met een voldaan gevoel te starten. Op kwaliteit is niet bezuinigd, lekker vers brood, goede en smaakvolle vleeswaren en kaas en vers roerei met spek. Yoghurt met diverse soorten toppings en sap zijn ook aanwezig. Alles wordt continu aangevuld. Op bestelling maakt de kok een lekkere omelet of ander eiergerecht, pancakes of wafels. Heel fijn verblijf gehad.

We stayed at this charming hotel and had a delicious dinner in the restaurant that evening. The service was truly fantastic! Quite a few tables were occupied that evening, and waitress Noa ran the entire restaurant, including the bar, single-handedly, while still managing to give the guests plenty of attention. This lady deserves more than the five stars we could give above!

XL Snack platter for 5 people for almost 40 euros taken at the wine festival. Very presumptuous. A bit of cheese, dried out ham (not freshly sliced ​​probably prepackaged) and some peanuts, canned olives, and bread sticks from Aldi or something. SOUP STICKS on a snack platter?? Also lacked bitterballen etc.

The entourage in the church is great. Served by nice (young) girls who unfortunately could not answer most questions about the food (directly). The price-quality ratio is really not good! Already received so nicely upon arrival and then your evening already starts well. We sat outside and enjoyed the 3-course menu with accompanying wine. Really recommended, so incredibly delicious food and so nice to taste the accompanying wines! And what a lovely service and thoughtful. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back. Nice restaurant in a church with good food and service. Started off with some oysters and then the sea-bass fillet which comes with some scallops and of course fries. Good Sauvignon along. Pleasant evening overall.

The Saint vind ik een fantastische plek om te zijn. Of je langskomt voor een heerlijke lunch of diner, of gewoon om rustig een boekje te lezen op het terras of sfeervol binnen met een lekker drankje; hier ben je altijd op je plek. Voor mij is er geen betere locatie in Hoorn te vinden. De kerk is een bijzondere plek op deze manier. De achtergrondmuziek zorgt voor een ontspannen sfeer en de service is uitstekend. Ik kom binnenkort ook graag het ontbijt uitproberen. Op vrijdagavonden heb ik ook lekker gedanst op de plaatjes van dj’s MiCaDo (najaar-winter). Bij de ronde banken achterin hoor je overigens wel wat geluid van een installatie, dus dat hoekje sla ik persoonlijk liever over. Met een volle zaal heb je daar waarschijnlijk geen last van. Must do: Een bezoek aan The Saint is trouwens niet compleet zonder een kijkje te nemen bij het toilet. De biechtdeuren maken zelfs dát tot een unieke ervaring. 😀

A delicious, tasty and well-cared for experience

It had been 24 to 22 years since I lived in the city center of Hoorn. After 20+ years in Amsterdam and other parts of the world, I was back in Hoorn today and I thought 'let me walk around as a tourist in my own old city. I was positively surprised at how beautifully the city center has developed. Halfway through I came to the big old church and I thought I'd walk inside. There is a beautiful restaurant / Grand Cafe where I unexpectedly stayed all afternoon. Delicious food and the atmosphere is comparable to a medium sized Italian village/square. English in short: fantastic place, really impressive and it sort of feels like being on a picturesque Italian square / village; but Dutch VOC style. Score: 100%

We had a negative experience and would not recommend. We asked for nojitos, which were on their online menu, but the waiter said they don't do that and brought us a paper menu. He came back to take our order and made us feel pressured to choose, even if we were not really ready. The list of mocktails on their new menu only has 3 items and they are not described, so we too one of each and were quite disappointed: all 3 were very basic, premade drinks with barely any add-ons. I wonder, how are they not be able to make a simple nojito. They also forgot one coffee, and we had to go ask for it. Turns out they did not note it down when taking the order, and claimed we did not ask for it. They took a good 15 minutes to deliver that coffee then. Overall, it was close to 1 hour later when we had something to drink on the table for everyone. When they brought the bill, they forgot some items, which we corrected. Honestly very surprised by the general sloppines and unprofessionalism, at such a special location. Really put a dent on our stay.

Super mooi restaurant, heerlijk buiten kunnen zitten op het terras in het zonnetje. Personeel is super snel als je net zit en de drankjes werden snel gebracht, heel fijn. Jammer dat het vervolgens een uur duurde voordat er werd gevraagd of we ook iets wilden eten.

Eten was matig en lauw. Maar het slechtste was de bediening. Een man met echt smeriger kleding aan, een joggingbroek met een polo waar vieze vlekken in zaten. Geen aandacht voor de DRIE tafels. Moest zelfs vragen aan de bar of ik nog een glas wijn kon krijgen. Het broodje vooraf kregen we tijdens de eerste gang. De frietjes bij het hoofdgerecht kwam halverwege, waren ze vergeten. De salade erg karig wat blaadjes sla met dressing en een verdwaalde walnoot. Porties op bord erg weinig. Het gebouw is mooi, personeel slecht.

Afgelopen weekend hebben we hier met ons gezin gegeten en we kijken er nog steeds met veel plezier op terug. De sfeer in het restaurant is prachtig: ruim, sfeervol en gezellig. Het personeel was vriendelijk en gastvrij, waardoor we ons direct op ons gemak voelden. Het eten was uitstekend en ook voor de kinderen was er genoeg keuze. Ze vonden het fantastisch en praten nog steeds over het “drollentoetje”

The location and the lunch menu made us excited to sit down. After we ordered our drinks and received the menu, we made our choice. When ordering, the samphire turned out to be out of stock. An ingredient that was included in several lunch dishes. So all that was left of one dish was a cheese sandwich with marmalade. There was no alternative. There was also no choice of bread. After our drink we paid and left.

We had an excellent lunch at The Saint. The dishes were delicious, original and surprising. If you like good food and not a dime-a-dozen lunch, then The Saint is the right place for you. The service was friendly, but otherwise nothing special. In this review, below, I can recommend dishes, but I cannot find the special dishes that they serve at The Saint.

Het enige positieve is de prachtige ambiance van het restaurant. Qua eten was het bar slecht. We waren bij een avond vullende avond met entertainment "Las Vegas show" met meerdere gangen. We kregen een ragoutbakje met champignonragout. Hallo kerstpakket! Dit is echt geen restaurantwaardig gerecht! Als "hoofdgerecht" een klein bakje patat met wat stoofvlees erop. De gerechtjes miste verfijning en smaak. Het geheel was behoorlijk aan de prijs, het menu alleen al was 72 euro! Daarnaast sluit ik mij helemaal aan bij de eerdere negatieve review over de show. Het werd groots gebracht in de aankondiging maar het stelde echt weinig voor. Zeer teleurstellend. Als je de kwaliteit van de gerechtjes en de "show" zag was dit echt "zakken vullen" voor het restaurant. Absoluut geen aanrader. Dit restaurant zou de klachten serieus moeten nemen en iets van compensatie zou op zijn plaats zijn!

Sinner Friday Las Vegas editie…. Wat een aanfluiting en oplichterij!! Volgens de omschrijving van The Saint zouden we deze avond de beste live performers, geweldige dance acts, een show van Minh Vu en 6 signature gerechten ontvangen. Show en diner in één met variété acts. Oftewel in hun eigen woorden waanzinnige showelementen! Niets maar dan ook echt Niets van die avond had ook maar iets met Las Vegas te maken! Er was werkelijk niets qua aankleding gedaan. We hebben nadat we 20 min zaten zelf maar iemand gevraagd of we wat te drinken konden krijgen. Het eten was echt heel erg slecht en niet lekker. Als je een gerookte zalm, uiensoepje, een koud bladerdeeg ragout hapje, een terrine van kip met een blaadje sla, patatje stoofvlees en een smaakloos bevroren ijscackeje je signature dishes durft te noemen dan ben je echt niet goed bezig. Laten we het dan nu eens hebben over de entertainment… Wij hebben een violist gehad Een saxofonist Toen weer de violist Toen weer de saxofonist En toen… een Hollandse zanger waarbij er als klap op de vuurpijl een half dooie tulp aan iedereen werd uitgedeeld. Waar waren de geweldige dans acts? De variété acts? En weet ik nog meer wat er ons was beloofd? En wat is hier in hemelsnaam Las Vegas aan? Toen we onze ellende weg wilde drinken met een PornStar Martini werd deze gebracht in een speciaal bier glas. Zonder passievrucht Dat was de druppel. Een gesprekje met de manager die geen tijd echt voor ons had zorgde ervoor dat er een Pornstar Martini van het huis kwam, in wel de juiste glazen en met een passievrucht er in. Maar we moesten onze huidige PornStar Martini INLEVEREN aan de serveerster omdat we die andere van het huis kregen?. ECHT schandalig. We waren zo met stomheid geslagen dat we het nog hebben gedaan ook. Ik zag vanmorgen dat ik die ronde trouwens ook nog gewoon heb betaald. Dus niks van het huis…. Inmiddels kwam ook degene van de entertainment met ons praten over de klacht. Wij vroegen aan hem wat er nou Las Vegas aan de entertainment was. Hij vertelde doodleuk dat ze een switch hadden gemaakt..en hier voor hadden gekozen. Wij hebben € 75,- pp betaald voor een Las Vegas avond met alle beloftes van entertainment. We hebben daar NIKS van gezien en het eten was heel erg slecht Wij vinden dat de Saint ons onder valse voorwendselen deze tickets heeft verkocht en wij voelen ons opgelicht. Wij gaan nooit meer ene cent uitgeven in deze tent

Sinner Friday Las Vegas edition…. What a travesty and scam!! According to The Saint's description, this evening we would receive the best live performers, great dance acts, a show by Minh Vu and 6 signature dishes. Show and dinner in one with variety acts. In other words, in their own words, fantastic show elements! Nothing, really. Nothing from that evening had anything to do with Las Vegas! There was really nothing done in terms of decoration. After sitting for 20 minutes, we asked someone if we could get something to drink. The food was really bad and not tasty. If you dare to call smoked salmon, onion soup, a cold puff pastry ragout snack, a chicken terrine with a lettuce leaf, stewed fries and a tasteless frozen ice cream cake your signature dishes, then you really don't get it. Now let's talk about the entertainment… We had a violinist A saxophonist Then the violinist again Then the saxophonist again And then… a Dutch singer and to top it all off, a half-dead tulip was handed out to everyone. Where were the great dance acts? The variety acts? The crazy show elements we were promised? And what the heck is Las Vegas about this? When we wanted to drink away our misery with a PornStar Martini, it was brought to us in a special beer glass. Without passion fruit That was the last straw. A chat with the manager who didn't really have time for us ensured that a Pornstar Martini was on the house, in the right glasses and with a passion fruit in it. But we had to HANDLE our current PornStar Martini to the waitress because we got the other one on the house?. REALLY scandalous. We were so stunned that we did it. I saw this morning that I also paid for that round. So nothing from the house…. Meanwhile, the person from entertainment also came to talk to us about the complaint. We asked him what Las Vegas entertainment was like. He simply said that they had made a switch... and had chosen this. Ridiculous if you didn't sell the tickets for that. We paid €75 pp for a Las Vegas evening with all the promises of entertainment and great food. We saw NOTHING of that and the food was very bad We believe that Saint has sold us these tickets under false pretenses and we feel ripped off. We will never spend another cent in this place

The only positive aspect is the restaurant's beautiful ambiance. It has enormous potential. The food was terrible. We attended a full-course entertainment evening. We were served a ragout dish with mushroom ragout. Hello Christmas gift! This is definitely not a restaurant-worthy dish! The "main course" was a small portion of fries with some stew on top. The dishes lacked refinement and flavor. The whole thing was quite expensive; the menu alone was 72 euros! Considering the quality of the dishes, this was a real "pocket-filling" for the restaurant. Absolutely not recommended. @owner: Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, this was already my second bad experience! The previous lunch wasn't tasty either. I've been to many restaurants and am a very picky eater, but the two times I've been to The Saint, it was really not good.

Delicious food, but a bit cold in the otherwise attractive restaurant. Friendly service, but it's a pity that dessert came after coffee.
