Great fries, but unfortunately no vegan snacks or mayo (sauce).

The fries are good. Reasonable portions with plenty of sauce. You can definitely taste that these aren't frozen fries. Friendly staff. During busy times, such as dinnertime and dinnertime on Saturdays or Sundays, it's definitely not recommended, as wait times can be more than half an hour. If you arrive hungry, your stomach won't make it. It can sometimes still be busy here after closing time during peak times.

This was inedible. I got two small fries and one large, with one "war" (no onion), one "war" (with onion), and one "special curry." I only got the special curry. The fries were fried in old grease and were rock hard. You have to buy a drink because they had so much salt on them. The milkshake machine was broken when it worked. I got a milkshake right away and had to wait another 20 minutes for my order. The milkshake wasn't cold anymore. I also ordered a chicken burger. The picture showed cheese on it. When I opened the box, the chicken looked like it was from Albert Heijn and was drier than a desert. I'll stick with Febo.

Normally, the fries here are delicious. But yesterday they were inedible. There was so much salt on them; the kids aren't picky about fries, but even for them, it was too salty. Such a shame.

The fries were heartbreakingly bad. They didn't even look like fries. They were fake fries. As if they weren't even made from anything resembling potatoes. They were hard and fried in stale grease. The croquette was also unidentifiable. The satay was made from? Dog or something? Just rubbish. I'd say don't go there.

I've been getting fries here for almost 14 years now, it's fantastic! I moved here seven years ago, but this remains my favorite snack bar!

Great, classic chip shop where I often grab fries when I cycle past. Much tastier than the Febo and old-fashioned ice cream I used to get at the snack bar. Discodip, yeah. It's not perfect, like an old-fashioned chip shop, so no real hamburgers, folks! We used to think a soft white bun with a frikapuck was a hamburger. I like to go there when I'm cycling along the Nieuwe Meer to the Amsterdam Forest.

Delicious fries (the softer ones). It's just a shame there were a lot of harder pieces. Perhaps a combination of the frying fat and overcooking.

Nice location and delicious fries! Fries are prepared separately in two chip ovens. Useful to know for halal eaters. I specifically asked about this. Snack is baked separately in adjacent ovens. Explanation was also given with love compliments.

Atmosphereless tent. The ladies are actually friendly when you see them because they spend most of the time in the back of the kitchen I think. The frying fat is really so old that it should no longer be called frying fat. And that is also reflected in the fried fries. Harder and far too well-done fries! Really absurd. After eating the products from this chip shop you will have heartburn for the rest of the day from here to Tokyo. It's a shame to have such a nice bag at such a nice spot. I also don't understand how the ladies who work there get a good feeling about what they serve their clients. My advice: go get your fries somewhere else. Because this is a drama! 😩

Hands down best fries in Amsterdam. And I don't say that after staying in ams for 5 years and trying most of the famous (and not so famous ones). Dutch do take the fries seriously and no offence to Belgian but this may be even better than most in Belgium 😂

My little son and i waited an hour and 15 minutes for one order of fries. Then i was very descent when i asked if this is normal. Quite rudely i was told that this is perfectly fine for them. Then when i got my order they didn't give me the mayo i paid for and then the guy slammed it in front of me on the counter. The fries were nothing special also, so ya great place!

March 2025 Remains good. It takes some time but it's worth the wait. Fries are excellent. Expect a line during dinner time and some waiting. Jul 2023 What's good and remains good ... Snacks could be upgraded though, that would match the excellent fries. Dec 2022 Remains a good place for your fries. Busy as always. The waiting for your order is the only minus ... Again I should have ordered in advance... Old Top 3 snack locations looking at fries. They have been here for as long as I can remember. Some staff is working there for years. Especially their fries are very good and you'll get more than enough.

A real pleasure I'm really excited about the frikandels, croquettes and fries. They were perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. The taste was simply great. The portion was generous and the price was absolutely fair. The service was also friendly and quick. I'll definitely be back!

Queue of more than half an hour for fries, which are saltless and extremely greasy. The chicken satay is minimally fried, whether it will make you sick or not. I baked this again at home. Too risky! When you ask when your order is ready they have no idea, it seems that people who order online are helped faster.

The food was was not bad the chips had potential to be really good and they were good but, it felt like the oil they were fried in was sitting around for a while. the service was good however, the guy at the till used his hands without gloves or anything to pick the food up before it got cooked and then used the same hands to touch the till and money. This is really not hygienic and for this reason, I will likely not go back. If the oil was not old, and the hygine was increased, I think this place would be good.

I buy my lunch there 1-3 times every week, very friendly staff, easy to order and consistent patat every time. Would recommend 10/10.

The food was unpalatable, the fries were left in it for far too long and the hamburger tasted like an expired frikandel. The bread was tough, the fryer is cleaned every other year if I taste it like that... Very disappointing. It was so dirty and greasy that it was better to put it in the garbage and close the tent. The atmosphere was a 2, but that was purely because of ourselves and not because of anything from this crappy tent. A few comments also came to mind while we were sawing and tasting. Haven't been to this place in a while... Normally always great, but today... 3 young guests behind the counter and they forgot the satay sauce with my (loose) Mexicano, no curry with my chicken corn and the Mexicano sandwich literally had a drop of satay sauce on it, so I don't know whether the satay sauce was gone or whether they wanted to save on it. .. Small old Dutch fries shop. Don't know if I would call it good, but it felt familiar to me. Run by a few nice, pleasant, hard-working ladies. Here's around noon break and it was quite busy with lots of people with large orders for work, but the ladies work like a well-oiled machine. So before you know it your order will be ready. And even if it's snack bar food. I have often experienced that frying tasty fries and making a good hamburger is very difficult for some snack bars and their staff to deliver in the right condition. Nice place in a prominent place. They do it their own way and are proud of the fresh potatoes. The extremely tasty (Surinamese) peanut sauce is striking! Still, I have to say that the fries could be better: nice and crispy, but the fat tasted a bit old. Hence not 5, but 4 stars.

Enjoyed delicious fries today, with a nice staff and good portions. However, something went wrong with the order: we were number 9, but got the fries from number 8. This resulted in the employee taking the fries from under our noses, which was quite uncomfortable. It would be nicer if next time we were asked whether we wanted to keep the fries or whether we wanted some more sauce, instead of just taking the food out from under the nose of a person eating. Very awkward but good. All in all, the fries were really tasty and the staff was customer friendly, although this incident was a shame. Nevertheless, definitely worth repeating!

I was surprised that I hadn't written a review about this place yet since I've been here several times :) Until 2 years ago, the fries were of variable quality. Especially when it was busy and you had ordered, the quality was a bit less. However, nowadays I think the quality is better. They take this into account if you want it well done. I have to say that I was there during quiet moments. Sauces are sufficient in quantity. The young staff in particular are very nice and helpful. That makes a visit good again.

Some mellow background music to relax while waiting for your order would be good.

The fries are amazing! Super tasty fries. Tried the vegetarian kroket, which wasn't bad. It did take quite long on a Thursday evening around 6pm to get 2 portions of fries, especially for eating in. The place itself is definitely not cute or anything, but in summer it is great to sit outside and have some tasty treats. Overall, came for the food and that's what counts!

After my husband picked up the order this evening, I tried to call you a few times, but there was no answer and now hours later there is still no answer. My husband had already asked whether the delivered item was correct, but when he got home it turned out that indeed the order was not complete. The satay sauce was not in the bag and very few fries, really not for 6 people, but rather for 3. In short, I don't think it went well at all and I am therefore not satisfied. Going back after you notice at home that something is not right is not really an option either. It was such a meager meal, very annoying. Unfortunately, there is no email address where you can respond. That's why it's done this way now. The dishes that were delivered were very tasty. Just an addition: Patatzaak handled this complaint extremely well!

How stupid can you be to ruin a success formula? Instead of the tastiest fries in Amsterdam, you now sell the dirtiest fries in the whole of the Netherlands. Frytki i krokiety ziemniaczane. Wiele opcji do wyboru. Troszkę szkoda, że wszystko z głębokiego tłuszczu ale generalnie super. Żadne tam mrożonki, świeżo wszystko siekane i smażone na bieżąco. Wiatrak za oknem to dodatkowy holenderski smaczek. Polecam!

Laatste 2 keer dat we patat daar gehaald hebben was de patat niet lekker. Erg vet en smaakte naar frituurvet. Zo ook de kroket. Personeel werkte ook niet goed door terwijl het best druk was. Dat is anders als de eigenaresse zelf aanwezig is.

Wat is dit slecht geworden!! Jarenlang de heerlijkste patat, maar gisteren was het voor t eerst heel slecht! Vieze patat, niet echt heel heet... Gaan er nooit meer naar toe. Vreselijk jammer, maar ik denk dat er veel veranderd is qua ingrediënten. Slechte aardappel en vieze olie.

Zeer lekkere patat/friet. Niet super veel keuze wat betreft snacks en binnen eten is niet echt sfeervol, maar wat wil je dan van een “patatzaak”. Omdat het een begrip is, is het wel wat drukker. Zeker een aanrader!!!
