The steak sandwich tasted great, well-baked and with delicious bread. A great company with good service. Everything went smoothly but with care.

Very nice place, it was very crowded on a Sunday afternoon so the service was a bit slow. Good tea, nice bread. The views of the lake are amazing.

I celebrated my birthday here with a small group and a delicious lunch. The fish dish was fantastic and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly and cheerful, and the spacious seating made it even more enjoyable. The acoustics are perfect. We ended up spending the entire afternoon there. The homemade pastries are highly recommended. A blues band was playing in the main hall, but you couldn't hear a thing in the restaurant. All in all, a successful and relaxing afternoon.

We had a baby shower, all vegan. It tasted great and looked beautiful. Unfortunately, the place we were seated was very sunny and there was no sunshade. It was broken, so it was so hot that the pastries melted. Such a shame.

This upscale restaurant is perfect for business or just casual dining. It boasts a beautiful location with lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. You can rent spaces for groups, primarily for work-related events but also for parties, etc.

We had some Mocktailz here. They were delicious and not outrageously expensive.

A lucky find! We had the set menu, absolutely delicious... The service was super friendly; our waitress even said goodbye as she was leaving for her well-earned break and introduced us to her successor by name. We were really impressed. The location of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It deserves 5 stars in all categories.

A super warm welcome. We had some trouble with our boat, but thanks to the friendliness and helpfulness of the manager, we were able to continue our journey after a delicious cup of coffee and pastry. Where else do you find that? Fantastic.

Had lunch yesterday. Only cold dishes. Our request for something like fried fish was also rejected. Probably no chef? It was busy, with vacationers in flip-flops and cyclists in tight cycling shorts. Things you don't want to see when you're out for lunch. The building looks nice, but the menu is very limited. Fancy words on the menu, but canned salmon and tuna—it wasn't much to speak of. Made with, I think, the same fake butter we requested with the dry bread that accompanied the soup (the only hot dish). Disgusting!

After a long time tried again, great location of course on the lake. The food was fine, not excellent. Then the service, what a disappointment, no empathy at all, no eye and interest in the customer. I knocked over my wine glass, and I reported this, she came with a cloth, didn't say a word and my wet napkin remained. Also didn't ask if I wanted a new glass...so bad. Another female waitress walked around, asking "when can I go home". A young man who was still serving us did his best. When we left the building, no one noticed us. Very bad for this type of restaurant, so it was the last time for us...too bad.

The Breton fish soup was probably from Knor, too bad.

Wonderful seafood restaurant! The seafood was super fresh and well-prepared. We enjoyed the grilled salmon and mussels – highly recommended. The service was professional and very friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a pleasant evening. I would love to come here again.

Waiting over two hours for a starter and main course because it was too busy. Tip: refuse customers if the kitchen can't handle it. This is simply unacceptable. However, the service was incredibly friendly.

The service is very poor. It could easily be solved by properly training the staff and having a manager who oversees everything and directs the service in a positive manner.

Al jaren hier geweest maar zo slecht als nu nog nooit meegemaakt. Eerst lang wachten op bediening, dan voorgerecht nog zonder wijn. Na aantal keren vragen eindelijk wijn, tegelijk met hoofdgerecht terwijl we nog halverwege voorgerecht waren. Al met al zwaar teleurstellend

Wat een chagrijnige bediening!!! Met ons gezin wilden we ff gezellig borrelen bij De Rietschans. Ten eerste geen vriendelijke ontvangst, eigenlijk werden we helemaal niet begroet bij binnenkomst, ten tweede moesten we erg lang wachten voordat onze bestelling werd opgenomen. De bestelling werd snel gebracht. Maar met een ontzettend chagrijnig gezicht. Echt niet normaal! Vrijwel al het bedienend personeel liep met een ontzettend chagrijnig gezicht rond. We voelden ons totaal niet welkom!

Viel erg tegen, we voelden ons niet welkom: tafel was niet ingedekt, moesten erg lang wachten op alles. Heb persoonlijke feedback gemaild, men heeft niet de moeite genomen om te reageren. Ga er niet weer naar toe.

Fijne plek aan het meer. Kennelijk sinds kort alleen bestellen via qrcode. De persoonlijke benadering is geheel weg. Ook sneu voor de bediening. Omdat je zelf via iDeal betaalt krijgen ze nauwelijks meer een fooi. Zeer klantonvriendelijk. Het eten is redelijk, maar prijs/kwaliteit ver te zieken. Jammer, het zou zoveel leuker en persoonlijker kunnen zijn.

The food and drinks were delicious. The lady who helped us was very friendly and helpful.

For our team outing today we had reserved one of the electric boats of the Rietschans and a plant-based snack platter afterwards. Two days earlier we had confirmed the boat reservation and vegan snack platter by phone. Everything went well with the boat. When we got back there was no table reserved for us and we were referred to the benches in the back, where people were already sitting. Fortunately, a table was quickly found for us. Drinks were taken and served but after half an hour there was still no snack platter in sight. They thought we had brought it with us on the boat - no. We ordered it anyway and asked for confirmation a little later whether it was a plant-based snack platter - "Yes, it is completely vegetarian". To which we indicated - not vegetarian, but vegan. It was served and there was cheese on it. Asked which bowls were vegan: "Everything is vegan". No, there is cheese on it - see photo. "In the kitchen they said that everything is vegan." Asked if someone from the kitchen could come by, that was not possible, but a little later the entire snack platter was taken back. Then it took 25 minutes before we got a new snack platter. Two people from our group had already left because of the time. Two dishes still had cream cheese that according to the non-vegans in our group was real cheese. Asked again if those two dishes were vegan. "I don't know because I didn't make it." How is it possible that after we booked it in advance, confirmed it by phone, asked four times, a non-vegan snack platter was served twice? And so much time passes that 2 out of 7 could no longer enjoy it? Something clearly goes wrong with the internal communication and no apologies were forthcoming. With food allergies I would not feel safe at De Rietschans.

We wanted to sit by the water but you can only sit there if you order your drink or food via the QR code. This was clearly indicated but you did not get an explanation if necessary. I saw people leave. The only thing I heard was that the staff said, then you can sit on the other terrace. Not customer friendly and it was not BUSY!! Price / quality food is not in proportion! The location is great, but the staff could be more helpful for people who find it difficult to work with the QR code!!

Bad service. First they couldn't find our reservation. Eventually we could sit down. The staff was more busy with each other than with the guests. This was once and never again here

Terrible service. If you forget your phone you definitely do not eat. On top of that I wanted something which they said they had but it was not placed on their app. I just wanted to have a quiet and relaxed time, no to scroll on my phone! Definitely not coming back.

The food was very good, but the service wasn't great. We wanted to sit right next to the lake for the best view. Instead of explaining the QR code, the waitress immediately said you can see the lake from all sides, but she didn't have the courtesy to explain. Okay, the view is beautiful, the food is very good, but the waiters need to improve their service. I love drinking champagne, and there wasn't a good champagne menu. The bottle I ordered tasted like some random wine, but at least it was tasty.

teleurstellende ervaring Helaas viel ons bezoek tegen. Het eten had weinig smaak en was niet wat we ervan verwacht hadden. Daarnaast stond de deur open, waardoor er veel vliegen binnen waren, zelfs op het eten. Erg onhygiënisch. Wat ook opviel, is dat het personeel de deur niet normaal leek te kunnen gebruiken; de deur sloeg telkens hard dicht van buiten naar binnen. Dat was storend en gaf een rommelige indruk. Al met al geen prettige ervaring, we komen hier niet terug.

Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience, mainly because of the attitude of an older female employee (who comes across as someone with a managerial position). When paying the bill, we were asked at which table we had sat. When I couldn't remember exactly, I was told in a blunt tone: "Well, go and have a look yourself", after which she simply left us standing. Not an ounce of hospitality or understanding, which you would expect in the catering industry. Too bad, because such an attitude leaves a bad impression, despite the rest of the visit. Hopefully something will be done about this.

Helaas een erg onaangename ervaring gehad, vooral vanwege de houding van een vrouwelijke medewerker (die zich laat overkomen als iemand met een leidinggevende functie). Tijdens het afrekenen werd ons gevraagd aan welke tafel we hadden gezeten. Toen ik dat even niet meer precies wist, kreeg ik op een botte toon te horen: “Nou, ga zelf maar even kijken”, waarna ze ons gewoon liet staan. Geen greintje gastvrijheid of begrip, wat je toch wel mag verwachten in de horeca. Jammer, want zo’n houding laat een nare indruk achter, ondanks de rest van het bezoek. Hopelijk wordt hier iets mee gedaan.

Today a working appointment at De Rietschans... lovely on the water in the sun... as always great atmosphere and good service... here the customer is still king... soon we will eat again and enjoy the champagne... two years ago the champagne was of top quality... hopefully that is the case again.

At the beginning of April we received a very friendly welcome and had a wonderful afternoon. Beautifully located, quality in practically everything. A few weeks later I needed the help of the Rietschans with a question, the fantastic way in which Wouter and Yvette helped me was nothing short of fantastic. Thank you very much, a very satisfied customer.

We went to Rietschans for breakfast on Easter Sunday. The breakfast was very filling and very good. The service was friendly and quick. We have nothing to criticize.

I have fond memories of this location from the 1980s when 'Herberg De Rietschans' stood here. Was class! However, later, under the 'Villa Sasso' operation, things went wrong... end of story and demolition even followed. After a fire, there is now a super modern building with an upper floor in the most beautiful spot along the Paterswoldse Meer. Equipped with all conveniences and comfort. There are countless possibilities. The private parking lot is also nice. The large terrace directly on the Paterswoldse Meer is more than pleasant. What an atmosphere!! Was there again today, April 4, 2025, for lunch. This time...Carpaccio on brown country bread. Fine! In short....haven't been yet?....do it soon....you certainly won't be disappointed! Ed Jansen

Food was not tasty; I ate almost none of the tomato soup and the fish soup was a far cry from the fish. The service (young lady) on the terrace and veranda was very unfriendly! This was the last time I went there. Hopefully a new owner soon because the location is great.

We came to this place with my girlfriend because it’s located in a beautiful and quiet area, and the building itself looks solid and respectable. We ordered several dishes for the table. The food took quite a long time to arrive, but luckily we weren’t in a hurry. Finally, our dishes were brought out—they looked pretty good and tasted decent too. We had just eaten a few spoonfuls and decided to step out to the veranda for a smoke. We told the staff we’d be outside for five minutes and left our things, including our bags, at the table on purpose. When we returned, the table was completely empty. We asked the bartender about it, and he said he thought we had left. But we clearly told them we were stepping out! And why would we leave our things at the table if we were leaving? We asked them to bring our dishes back or prepare new ones. After ten minutes, they brought the same dishes back, but the portions were three times smaller. When we asked why there was so little food, they answered, “Well, you had already eaten some…” It was terrible. They even tried to make us feel like we were the ones at fault. The bartender was in an overly cheerful mood and had red eyes probably because he was starving after using some substances. Maybe that’s why he helped himself to our food. In general, it was an awful experience, and our dinner was ruined… Thank God the sun was shining brightly that evening.

Lunch besteld op een zondag. Het was vrij druk. Bediening keek strak en niet vriendelijk voor zich uit in plaats van actief contact te maken met de gasten. Wij voelden ons niet welkom en niet gezien. Hadden meer willen bestellen, maar kregen de kans niet. Hamburger was alles behalve gaar. Het viel ons tegen...

THE SERVICE REALLY LEAVES SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED! For that reason I wouldn't invite guests or organize a party here, but… 👍🏻 A really great lunch! Everything made in-house or at least from excellent suppliers. “Pronkewaltje” cake also delicious. 👎🏻 Reception moderate, we had made a reservation but were a bit left to our own devices. We asked for service after a 10 minute wait. There were no bacon in the mustard soups, we ordered white bread and eventually brown bread arrived. We cleared our table ourselves, they came by twice after we had finished eating and did not take it away, not even when coffee and cake were served after lunch. 👍🏻 Anyway... the quality makes up for a lot. Beautiful location.

Had Christmas brunch. Service perfect. Food of good quality, but not very special. Beautiful views over the water in the summer months!

We sat down here for Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. The restaurant has a good name so you expect something, even if you take the price into account. The food was definitely good. The attention of the staff was formidable. The decoration of the restaurant was somewhat inferior. Plastic tablecloths, Christmas trees pushed into the corner because of the possibility of placing more tables and a piano that was not played. No Christmas music, in short, go somewhere else next Christmas. Shame.

Met een groep gegeten in De Rietschans. Het blijft nog steeds een mooie en moderne zaak. We kozen voor het 3-gangen menu voor een vaste prijs. Dit maakt het betaalbaar, want los vind ik de prijzen hoog, zeker in relatie tot de kleine porties die worden geserveerd. Als voorgerecht nam ik het gebrand buikspek. Dat smaakt voortreffelijk, maar het was toch wel een minimaal stukje vlees op een joekel van een bord. Het hoofdgerecht was de zalmfilet. Dit was een royale portie prima smakende zalm. De garnituur bestond uit heerlijke friet, een goede rauwkostsalade en een prima warme groente. Bij deze de opmerking dat hiervoor niet extra betaald hoefde te worden. Mijn nagerecht was de popcorn panna cotta. Hier had ik meer van verwacht, zowel de smaak alsook de portie. Het was samengevat een OK avond.

You can enjoy a delicious meal here on Christmas Day. My grandmother thought the Christmas decorations on the table were a bit silly (simply a glass with Christmas baubles). Staff were polite and the menu was well balanced. Good experience.

Had a High Tea on November 29. It all looked delicious and it was, but......a piece of plastic in my orange juice was a big disappointment. The plastic was quickly removed by the clerk. I barely got an apology and certainly not a new glass of orange juice. This is a bit of a shame.

We had rented a room here for a whole day for a work meeting. There was no reception, I had to find the room myself. Had ordered cookies etc as a package deal, ended up receiving 1 pack of cake for the entire day. After asking if we would get more and also soft drinks, we were treated in a very unfriendly manner. Finally, a bowl of gingerbread nuts was placed down in an angry/grumpy manner. A reason for us not to book a room here again. Not recommended for room rental.

Had lunch here today. People often talk highly about this, but it is simply nothing more than okay. The prices are high, but the food is not in line with that. Carpaccio sandwich is unimaginative, soup is ok, but not overflowing with flavour.

Nice place with delicious lunch and good desserts. You pay an average of 12 euros for a sandwich, but there is love in it. I'm always willing to pay a little extra for something tasty and that's possible here.

The food was fresh, well presented, tasty and the right quantity, which is often not the case in restaurants. The menu offers a few varieties which I like because it means they provide what they're good at & it's always fresh. Really enjoyed the restaurant and found the value for money acceptable.

Service was great, but rarely did we leave the food behind. Soup was more salty than it was wet. Also, my hamburger tasted like fish? Never experienced that before. Oh yeah, the foreign clerk said 'Ginger aleeee' instead of 'Ginger "eel"', this was quite touching!

Bad operation. The spot on the water is good, but if you have to wait a long time, the spot doesn't make up for it. I was motioned to service several times but received no response. If you leave and report this, nothing will change.
