Great food. Nice location, free parking, adjusted the (very great) burger for allergy. With the other dish there was no adjustment done, so we switched plates :( Unfortunately there were 2 groups on the terrace. It was too loud, less attention for the smaller tables. I would have wanted to know this when making the reservation.

Always great here! Good service, tasty food, and the kids can run around freely too.

On a hot day you can sit outside in the shade. There's a playground for children. Zucchini soup, delicious.

De Smaeckkamer is a really pleasant place with a warm and cozy atmosphere the setting feels relaxed and welcoming and makes it easy to enjoy your time the staff is friendly and attentive and even when it gets busy they stay kind and helpful overall a great experience and definitely worth a visit

We arrived at the restaurant at 4:05 PM wanting to eat. We were told that dinner wasn't served until 5:00 PM and that they only had small snacks (only fried food). So we ordered snacks. At 4:30 PM, we saw burgers and salads being carried to another table. When we inquired, we were told that the items had been ordered from the lunch menu before 4:00 PM. We then asked if we could order something from the dinner menu, but this was refused. I then saw that our snacks were carried to another table and left there for two minutes before they realized it was the wrong table. I have never experienced anything like this or such a lack of customer service. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant.

We had dinner at De Smaekkamer tonight; lunch is always delicious and dinner was delicious too. The atmosphere is good and cozy. The service wasn't very good. Very slow, everything took a very long time, and by the second drink I had to go and ask for the menus myself. Also, with new drinks, the staff frequently didn't take away the old empty bottles. This was a bit of a downside; the toilets were clean, but there was no soap or toilet paper. Hopefully, this will be different when we come next time. The food, however, was superb!

Great location. Dishes were tasty, but not exceptional! The service is friendly, but could be a bit more proactive. All in all, a great choice for a place to eat with children.

I had a very disappointing experience today at De Smaeckkamer in Beverwijk. We were not given a seat inside and were sent outside, which is fine in itself. We then ordered drinks and wanted to order lunch afterwards, but we were told that lunch outside is not possible. What makes this even more frustrating is that there were two tables sitting next to us that *were* having lunch outside. According to the staff, that was “a small mistake,” but subsequently, no effort was made to resolve this fairly or make an exception. I mentioned that I am breastfeeding and was really hungry, but there was absolutely no understanding for that. According to them, there was no room inside either, so we were essentially stuck: allowed to order drinks, but unable to get any food. This feels very unreasonable and unfriendly to customers. Mistakes can happen, but how you resolve them makes all the difference, and unfortunately, that went completely wrong here!!!

This restaurant is a real disaster. The staff is disinterested and seems constantly stressed, the food arrives cold and sloppy, and tastes awful. When I got the bill, there was a 44% VAT charge on the food, plus a mandatory 5% tip. Unacceptable and completely not worth the money. Absolutely not recommended.

Top-notch! I can't say otherwise. From the starter, through the main course, to the dessert. Great attention has been paid to everything; everything has diverse flavors and is perfectly coordinated. You don't just 'go out for dinner' here; it is an experience. Excellent service, which also explained what we were served. Parking is available right in front of the door in the parking lot. It is certainly a 45-minute drive for us, but we will definitely be back.

We were there with work and found it a bit cold in the room. Not surprising in an old building, the food was delicious, and the service was polite and helpful. I think I expected a bit more value for money, but it's hard to explain why. The seating was great, the food was delicious... but not a wow factor.

Mom/grandma spoiled with a high tea. It was very tasty, and a real plus is that the service is super sweet to kids! There was an extensive children's menu for my grandson. Highly recommended for a visit with kids!

Well, nice place, okay service, but very mediocre food. On our first attempt, we were served cold fish that had been sitting under the lamp on the bar for 10 minutes. We received a fresh portion, which was fine. My Black Angus burger was truly tough and dry. A thick hunk of meat that was grey on the inside. That’s all I can say about it. No repeat visit for us.

We didn't find what we're used to from the service. Speed, etc. The 30 euro charcuterie board! was a real joke. A meager board. The child did enjoy themselves though.

For group 8 camp we needed fries to pick up. When I called there was a moment of silence because this is of course not a snack bar. But they immediately thought along! We were helped very friendly and the home-made FRIES (because it is not a snack bar) were delicious!

For two years now there have been nettles in the playground.. the children's legs were completely covered in it.. I have already touched this several times, but no one has responded.. the gardener was supposed to remove it.. unfortunately nothing has been removed yet.. nettles at the tunnel by the slide and the house.. the owner probably doesn't have children himself.. had crying toddlers all morning.. and thanks again!

Spontaneous lunch with my parents, was fun...but also super tasty and a lot. My father and I had a club sandwich, we enjoyed it.

As a wedding photographer from Haarlem I visit many locations, especially in North Holland. Carline and Arjen will get married on May 30, 2025 in the large garden of the Smaeckkamer in Beverwijk. Everything was excellently arranged by a top location in North Holland. Extra compliments for the kitchen and the service. They were fast, very friendly (unfortunately I sometimes experience it differently), helpful and professional.

Along the GR5 and we had AI search for fries. We came out here and felt guilty but ate a delicious bowl of fries and also an ice cream.

There was only 1 vegetarian option for lunch on the menu (or an 'uitsmijter', but I can make that at home too). Very meat-oriented unfortunately. 'Choice' was quickly made and this vegetarian tasting was really delicious, especially the soup. A nice full and tasty plate of food.

Always nice to be here. The service is top notch, the location is beautiful and the food is really tasty and good. All in all, it remains a pleasure to have lunch, drinks and dinner here! We have been coming here for a while and despite staff rotation (which is usual of course) they are all friendly and a perfect fit for this child-friendly restaurant (we have also really seen Kian grow! 😊👌🏽) As a note for parents: The Smaeckkamer is not a childcare center, you must always keep an eye on your child and correct them if they are in a public place. Especially because there are also staff working hard. - toilets upstairs via the stairs and neatly separated for men/women - disabled people are allowed downstairs - not a big PP, but always doable and not paid. You can also park in the area - also very fun to throw/attend a party. - quality/quantity is neat. All in all, we really enjoy coming here. We hope to see you again soon!

Great restaurant. Pancakes for the kids are great. Were a bit small for our children, really child size. Pasta bolognese tasty, ravioli a bit salty but very tasty and halibut also tasty. Good fries. It was nice that we had a table with a view of the playground. Food came pretty quickly

What a cozy and atmospheric place! We had a delicious meal here with a group of 13 (!). Great service and, above all, delicious food! The preliminary tasting is recommended (see photo). As a main course (unfortunately forgot to take a photo) I had the Halibut; a nice soft white fish with forest mushroom ravioli😋😋

Cheese fondue at the Smaeckkamer! What a beautiful place to eat. Cheese fondue is only delicious in winter! Variation for dipping could be a little more extensive in my experience. It was fine otherwise. The cheese fondue itself was really great! Nice staff! All in all a very successful evening. And be sure to go to the toilet upstairs... you can admire the building a bit...

Leuke omgeving. Mooi pand. Tafels erg breed. Veel ruimte voor servies, maar het betekent ook dat je snel op afstand van elkaar zit. Voor mij niet fijn qua geluid en verstaanbaarheid. Kaart is ergens vreemd. Moeilijk kiezen. Heilbot was goed bereid en toch was combinatie met ravioli met righty’s ( dacht ik…), paddenstoelen met amandelen niet de combinatie. Voorgerecht de “plank met hapjes van de chef” werd door ons allen met een onvoldoende beoordeeld. Vreemde smaken en fors aan de prijs. Helaas. Hopelijk een andere keer beter.

Aangeschoven met het gezin voor de lunch op zondag middag. Was gezellig druk en er heerste een prettige sfeer. Lunch menu prima en heerlijk gegeten en vriendelijk en snelle bediening. Enige minpuntje was dat wij in een kamer zaten met een peuter speelhoek met dus spelende kleuters en peuters. Volgende keer kies ik wel voor een andere plek in het restaurant zonder de spelende kinderen. Wellicht een puntje voor het management.😉

I'll start with why it's not 5 stars. Because the venison steak is really incredibly tasty. But pricey for the small piece you get. Furthermore... I think it's a really great place to enjoy a delicious meal with children! Super exciting playground with a lot to discover. There are also plenty of games and colors available inside! You really feel welcome with children! And the dog is also welcome! Beautiful building, friendly service and delicious (but pricey) food. We will definitely come back here again!

Please indicate in advance that this concerns a high tea when booking. 1 minus; In my opinion, the truffles had no real cream filling, it seemed more like fondant. Too bad because real cream truffles are like an 'angel on your tongue' (old-fashioned expression). Who still knows? 'It's like an angel peeing on your tongue'.

A delicious lunch on a sunny Saturday; flatbread with smoked salmon and the tasting with a soup, shrimp croquette sandwich and a smoked salmon sandwich. Heel slecht eten. Ik had zijlende biefstuk besteld maat het was taai! Mijn broer had een angus burger en die was tegen bedorven aan. We moesten ook lang wachten terwijl et bijna geen klanten waren. Vorig jaar was ik met m'n moeder voor koffie met appelgebak en deze was rauw. Na een klacht bij de ober kwam hij terug met het verhaal dat de appeltaart 70 min in de oven had gestaan. Ik wees hem op de diverse tafeltjes waar iedereen z'n appeltaart had laten staan maar verder werd er niets mee gedaan. Nu werd ik uitgenodigd voor m'n broer z'n verjaardag. Ik wilde uit respect voor hem niet meteen klagen over de biefstuk maar uiteindelijk vond niemand het lekker en waren de hamburger tegen bedorven aan. De juffrouw vd bediening wilde ons tegemoet komen met koffie met appeltaart. Nou daar hebben we voor bedankt. Als je 22 euro moet betalen voor een hamburger mag je toch wel een goede verwachten. Conclusie; ik ga hier nooit meer heen.

Dear gentleman, employee of the bar who welcomes the customers with the beautiful curls. You can certainly be a bit friendly to your guests. We were turned away because you were fully booked. Understandably no problem. We just wanted something to drink, and ordering at the bar would not have been a problem for us and then going to the playground with our drink because we came purely for the children and then we would go there. The children then walked around the back to the play area. And we met a very hospitable lady, even though she also said it was fully booked, she came up with a solution. So it can happen that way. In the end we didn't even stay there for half an hour.

Had a delicious meal at the Smaeckkamer. Well-cooked steak prepared with love. No fuss just good food less is more! We will definitely come back here💯
