Last Saturday, June 27, 2026, I was treated very rudely by the head waitress of this restaurant. I entered with my group of 12 guests. We were on bicycles and wanted to go for a drink at the beach. While we were cycling towards Wijk aan Zee, it started to thunder and rain heavily. So we came in quite wet. Glad to be out of the rain. Although there was still plenty of room at the large round tables in the conservatory, we were not allowed to sit there because two or three people were already sitting at those tables, even though they can seat 8 or 10 people. She sent us away, back into the rain and thunderstorm. "We are not a shelter" was her argument. She kept repeating that. It felt to me as if we were asylum seekers looking for free shelter. That was absolutely not the case. We wanted to have a drink while we were sheltering. My guests understood very well that sheltering wasn't for nothing. The waitress made absolutely no effort to help us in a friendly manner or seat us at the large tables for a drink. She said that was simply not possible. I felt terribly humiliated in front of my guests by this attitude. Fortunately, there was room for us in the pavilion across the street. I went back to express my anger and frustration, but the waitress kept repeating, "We are not a shelter." I was boiling! I just left before I exploded... So unfriendly and inhospitable.

My girlfriend and I eat vegetarian and no fried food (due to stomach issues). When we asked the employee (Gerbert) if it was possible to order just the avocado wrap, the answer was quite grumpy that it wasn't possible. My girlfriend said there are few vegetarian options on the menu, to which he replied rather haughtily and irritably, in our experience. Not exactly customer-friendly. Eventually, my girlfriend ordered soup, and I ordered a fried egg with 2 eggs (which turned out to be 3). When a colleague asked how it was, I said that I found the gentleman very customer-friendly. The gentleman came over to us, and an unpleasant discussion ensued; we found it very unprofessional. I was also quite sarcastic about his behavior. This incident was discussed with the colleagues, and I noticed that they were all looking in our direction. We were subsequently served by an overly nice girl. A bit over the top. My girlfriend hardly dared to stand up because she felt watched and judged. The card says if you have any special requests just ask us… then you ask and this happens???? I said that we aren't coming here anymore. And Gerbert gave me a card and said just send an email, when I said I was going to write a review.

We initially stopped for drinks at lunchtime, where we were already treated very courteously. So we decided to have dinner there: a very good carpaccio, which we were able to easily share, followed by excellent surf and turf, and not forgetting the cheese sticks with spicy sauce. A wonderful evening, also thanks to the great selection of drinks! 👍🍷 P.S.: Since we're from Germany, I must especially commend the effort they made to speak German!! Almost a year later, we're back in Wijk aan Zee and once again enjoying great drinks and superb food at Strandhuis. Be sure to try the chicken wings... 🍺🍷🍤👌 And to finish, a sangria... 🍯

I really liked the atmosphere because it was busy in a good way. The food was delicious; I had the MEATY NACHOS. The staff were really nice, sweetly offered to see if you wanted another drink, and were always fun to have a chat with.

Very bad experience. Ate spareribs that were extremely greasy. Pointed this out to the staff. Subsequently, they did nothing about it. We won't be going there again.

It's a nice place to sit, but €20 for a platter of bar snacks that's inedible. For us, one time and never again.

It was a very fun night for me. The first evening out of the house after the baby. I did in fact enjoy the nice Vegetarian salad. The nice curly boy, I saw drinking chocolate milk made it. It tasted like it was made with love.

Het Strandhuis is a nice restaurant in a great location. The staff was attentive, friendly, and quick with the service. However, the prices are a bit too high for this kind of place; €11.50 for an Aperol Spritz is simply not justified. The food is similar. I would even pay more for the fish and chips if they were fresh instead of frozen, and the fries could definitely be improved.

We asked for the drinks menu, but the waitress informed us they didn't have one. Fortunately, we got it from the ladies at the table next to us. Otherwise, it was fine.

It is nice that there is attention for both animals and people. However, there is a difference in the experience depending on the staff; some pay a bit more attention than others.

It's a fun place to eat, and they currently have themed weeks. The Italian dishes are very tasty...

At the beginning of our stay, the service was a bit disorganized...but they quickly rectified that. It's a nice place with lovely outdoor seating.

I ordered coffee and apple pie at this lovely restaurant on Friday afternoon. The coffee and tea arrived quite quickly, but the apple pie with whipped cream took a while. We thought it might need defrosting. After fifteen minutes (coffee/tea had run out by then), I asked where the apple pie was, and oh, I'd forgotten. It was on the receipt the waitress had made, but the bar staff hadn't read it properly. It couldn't have been because of the crowd. Apologies accepted, but I immediately offered a second cup of tea/coffee. That would have been fine for almost €19. Hence the 3 stars.

Everything was really delicious. The bitterballen tasted freshly made and didn't look frozen at all. The tortilla plate was very generously filled. And the burger with fries was a real treat!

It was very busy and there were few staff, which resulted in cold coffee and chocolate milk.

The place is pleasant in summer, but I don't recommend it for celebrations (lunch). The trip from Utrecht wasn't worth it.

We had lunch today with six people. The lunch was delicious, and the service was good. One downside: we were seated at the round table near the entrance. The door opens and closes frequently, of course, and you can really feel it when you're sitting there. Cold air constantly flows down your neck and back. We regularly closed the door because visitors don't close it properly. Perhaps it would be a good idea to create a draft barrier between the door and the round table.

Super friendly waitress at our table. When my wife told the owner's little daughter that it was her birthday too, they came back with our order and a little fountain in the pastry, and they started singing for her together. REALLY SUPER FUN, SPONTANEOUS ACTION!! Beautiful place inside with good, nice, and friendly staff!! We will definitely come back when we are in the area!!

If you happen to be in that part of the beach and want to grab something to eat, yes — visit the Strandhaus Restaurant. The food is truly good. My compliments to the chef: the seabass was fresh, juicy, and perfectly fried, and the French fries had just the right balance of crispiness, softness, and salt. However, my experience with the seating and service was disappointing. If you’re dining alone, don’t expect to enjoy the sea view — single guests are seated only at tables for two, which are mostly at the back of the room. What I really didn’t understand is their seating logic: one person is not allowed to sit at a table for four, but two people can, even when there are still free tables for two available. So, if you’re alone and hoping to eat while enjoying the view, this isn’t the place for you. Another thing to be careful about is the bill. In my case, I ordered a tea and later just asked for a glass of hot water — but I was charged for two teas. So make sure to double-check your receipt before paying. Overall, there’s a big difference between the kitchen, which delivers fresh and tasty food, and the service, which felt rather unfriendly and unfair to solo visitors.

Very cozy inside, with old doors and windows separating the space. The staff was friendly and I had a delicious lunch.

Nice beach bar in Wijk aan Zee, also the only one that was open. The fried egg sandwich was fine.

The food was delicious! The portions seemed a bit small, but we had the three-course meal, so we were finally full. The meatballs were smaller than in previous years. The service was better.

I've never encountered such good service anywhere on the beach, nor eaten anywhere else this good. What fantastic service, customer-focused, and a great atmosphere! Welcome and departure! We'll definitely be back. Tip: the veggie salad is fantastic. The mussels are of good quality and deliciously prepared.
