Wonderful experience when attending, service was top tier, atmosphere both inside and out refreshing! Food - Bacon and Cheese omelette, was fantastic, cooked to perfection!

Started visiting De Spiegel for borrel drinks - really fab sunny terrace with plenty of seating and a very friendly team - great mix of drinks and snacks - 100% recommended!

We sat down at 5:00 PM for a drink and a snack. Half an hour later, they came up to us and asked us to pay, saying they closed at 6:00 PM. When we sat down, they didn't even tell us it closed at 6:00 PM. Eventually, they started collecting tables and chairs, banging them around, pretending to kick us out. I wouldn't recommend it.

We were sat immediately at peak lunch hours (4 People) with an amazing server. Food was great and got it within 10 minutes of ordering. Our server was quick and attentive and had a great attitude. We truly enjoyed our experience.

Ended up on this cozy terrace by accident. Friendly staff showed us to a table where I ate the most delicious pancake. I accidentally forgot my sweater, but after a few emails, it is on its way. Small tip: a phone number would be easier.

Had delish croques with fries here. Topped off with a tasty spritz. Great lunch spot!!

For lunch (we sat outside), this is really just a standard tourist spot. Inside—and during happy hour—it is much cozier.

Jari was a fantastic waiter. Served us fast, and gave us tips for the city. Good was very nice and loved being next to the canal as well has having shade from the scorching heat. But want to shout out jari again, made my day. Thanks.

Les tuna sandwich was amazing as were the goat cheese croquettes. The team is very sympathetic and the terrasse is very nicely situated.

Pit stopped here and had coffee and pancakes. Very popular and the food coming out from the kitchen looked really good, especially their stacked sandwich. Service is as welcoming.

Had lunch with two friends today. What a lovely place. We were there early. Candles burning, flowers in vases, and spotlessly clean. We were served immediately and had a delicious lunch. A top-notch spot, we will definitely be back here.

We stopped in because they had their umbrellas out for shade and the food looked good. It was cozy and the staff were friendly and efficient. We ordered and the food came out quickly and fresh. We are from California and the pancakes and omelettes here are different than what we normally see. Pancakes in the California are thicker as are the omelettes. We enjoyed them and the cappuccino was delicious.

Very friendly staff, even though they had a busy terrace full of tables. They managed the traffic quite well, and with a smile - very nice! Ice cold beer, and very accommodating (we want to put three tables together - "no problem!"). For food we only had finger food (frietjes) which were ok, but didn't try anything else. We will come back!

I wanted to have a quick bite and a drink there with my boyfriend, but the waiter refused to help us and said we could only sit down if we wanted to order a large lunch.. I understand it's busy, but that is a bit bizarre.

We arrived here around 2:00 PM. A table was free on a beautiful sunny day, and we really wanted to have a bite and a drink here. However, we were refused because we didn't want to order a full lunch per person. I thought this classic Amsterdam spot had charm, but it seems everything is about money again. I will never come back here. Rude service.

Totally cozy and delicious place, where you sit sheltered from the wind and at the same time can enjoy the sun's rays. The staff is super nice and extremely attentive. The service was fast and the food is something we still talk about. Great place and definitely a place we will come back to.

Had a lovely stop at this charming little cafe after a visit to the Rijksmuseum. Especially loved the little biscuit that went with my coffee.

The portions are incredibly huge and everything is delicious!! This was the first restaurant we visited upon arriving in Amsterdam! Half a bucket of cappuccino – it's powerful!! And very tasty.

I found this shop before heading to the National Museum. The three staff members were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious! I had bacon, ham, and cheese Dutch crepes (hot) and a cappuccino, which gave me plenty of energy for the museum visit. 😄

We found this place from just strolling around and I'm so glad we did! The service was amazing! The staff are all so friendly and the food is delicious! 100% recommend. Update: came again the next day and they were just as unreal! Not far from the Rijksmuseum either.

the place itself is beautiful and cozy, and the atmosphere is really lovely. but my experience with the service was disappointing. i asked for a cup of hot water (not a refill), and the staff told me i had to pay the full price of tea — around 4€. that was already surprising, but what felt worse is that i could clearly hear the staff discussing me at the bar in a negative way because i asked for hot water. later, when i was taking photos of the interior (because i genuinely liked the place), i again heard another staff member talking about me to his colleagues while looking at me. i don’t mind people having a bad day, but being talked about loudly in front of the whole café felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. the atmosphere is amazing, but the service made me unsure if i’d return.

Decent food and friendly service in the heart of Amsterdam - we had the croquettes and bitteballen and were defeated by the chips. Quite expensive, especially the beer, but good atmosphere (poppy hits but a conversational volume) and some Dutch people in here as well as tourists!

I was really disappointed with my visit. I understand the challenges of running a busy café, but the staff’s attitude was unfriendly and dismissive, which made the experience uncomfortable. The atmosphere could have been nice, but the poor service ruined it for me. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back.

You have to queue, and it's crowded, so you can't really enjoy it, maybe outside the tourist season.

We came in quietly for a drink. And the waiter immediately said: "Get out of here, I don't like your face." We won't be coming back.

There was hair in my food and salt had been added to my cola. A very unfriendly waiter worked there (identifiable by the bald spot on his head).

We didn't order anything; we arrived with a drink we'd bought on the way there and sat down to order drinks for the rest of the group. The waiter asked us if we could put the drink away, which we did. Upon returning, he asked us if we could leave, which we did. Unfriendly service and definitely not recommended.

Cutlery and dressings are thrown into plates with the food; it is a very crowded, shoulder-to-shoulder expensive tourist joint. But the waitress are nice and the sweets were tasty.

Food was good, service is lacking. Aside from the generally rude service, we asked to have a bill split and the server said it wasn't possible with a credit card, then just handed a bill and said cash here tell me what you want to pay. I never write negative reviews, but this was simple and could have been easily done as the restaurant was not busy.

I thought the place was fine for a quick breakfast and some coffee before heading to the museum. The food was decent and it's a home style lile cafe. We went early so it wasn't busy and we sat inside. Sitting outside would've been great if it was warmer that day.

We really liked this place!!! The food is delicious and plentiful! It's close to the Rijksmuseum and the value is excellent. The waiters are 10/10! Very fast service even with the bar full. I'm not giving it more stars because there aren't any hahaha.

Excellent breakfast and a very nice location, recommended if you have morning tickets for one of the museums just across the canal. It's a shame about the price, which I think is a bit excessive.

I was there spontaneously. The sandwich was delicious, although I expected a different bread. The food came quickly. The price/performance ratio was good. Not far from the Rijksmuseum.

Terrible, terrible service. Simply asking if we could split the bill in 3. Was told No! Asked why. Simply told No! Asked to speak with manager to clarify. Manager was loud and aggressive. Saying that we don’t split bills in Amsterdam. I explained that I this was my third day in Amsterdam and it was the first time splitting a bill became a problem. Manager insisted “we don’t do this anywhere, no pub, no restaurant etc. When I asked him if he thought I was lying he said YES. (Couldn’t believe the rudeness!

Great spicy chicken salad. Great omelets and the chicken sandwich was also delicious. Highly recommend. Came here with my teens. It was a winner.

Sat in the outdoor area which was nice as it was a sunny day. There is also seating in the shade. Had a club sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised, the ham and bacon seemed like really good quality and the bread was nice and crispy. Quite a lot of sauce which was my only critique, but some people like that. Staff were nice enough although felt a bit rushed by one of them to pick something off the menu and order.

A typical Amsterdam bar that sells sweet and savory treats. Everything you order is delicious and good. Ideal for a delicious sandwich and pancake on the go to continue your excursion. A 10 for the guys who run the bar. Go for it!

Honestly, I'm torn with this experience. The venue and location are fantastic. Unfortunately the service was less than acceptable. 1) My husband and I were told the table we requested was reserved, but another couple after us was being shown their table when they requested to change and they were seated at the other table that we had initially requested. 2) I ordered a beer that was apparently not available. Once the beer arrived, it was clearly not what I hoped for in flavor profile. When I question the substitution, I was given a very dismissive response. I informed the server that I had an alternative in kind of the beer I originally ordered was not available. In short, the beer I eventually got was DEFINITELY not what I ordered and it was clear that the server was annoyed that I sent the first beer back....now I was supposed to drink whatever he gave me. 🫤

The dishes were good but the prices were a little high. Big downside: we border on a forced sale. When after being seated, we are forced to have drinks with our meals. Otherwise it is forbidden to eat on the terrace.
