Tolles uriges Restaurant mitten in der Stadt mit gutem Essen, netter Bedienung und einem tollen Ambiete. Auch die Preise sind angemessen.

I tried to go inside to ask the waiter if I could use the toilet since there were no public toilets, he stopped me at the stairs and asked what I wanted. I needed to ask in front of all the terraces if I could use the toilet. He told me to go to McDonald's. Rude.

It seems expensive at first, like many other restaurants in Amsterdam, but you do get plenty of food for the price and it all tasted great! Good value if you're hungry and want something delicious near the Rijk

We were very displeased with the service, because the waiter changed his atritude because we just sat down for drinks.

Extremely rude staff - I needed to ask a few questions about the food for my elderly mother who has special dietary needs, but we were told impatiently by 2 different members of staff that they were too busy to speak to us. I appreciate it’s a busy area, but surely someone could have spared a moment or so to show some patience. Tried to strong arm us into sitting down, but became rude and dismissive when we didn’t want to. Looking at the other reviews we aren’t the only ones to have this experience. Don’t eat here if you value courtesy and friendliness.

the staff's rudeness matched the poor quality of the food. They crammed us into a tight space, insisted we order drinks, and forced us to buy expensive bottled water. When we objected, they sarcastically suggested dining by the river. Save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere.

Disappointing Experience at Lunch Cafe De Spiegel in Amsterdam Our recent visit to Lunch Cafe left much to be desired. Upon arriving with a group of three, we were met with rudeness from the staff. Despite there being ample seating available, we were asked to uncomfortably squeeze together in a table of 4 to accommodate additional guests. Things only escalated when we attempted to place our order. The staff member insisted we purchase drinks before even considering our food order. When we politely requested tap water and explained our intention to order a proper lunch, we were met with hostility. The staff member's insistence on following arbitrary rules, coupled with their rude demeanor, left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. When we expressed our dissatisfaction and chose to leave, the staff member's dismissive attitude and laughter only served to exacerbate our frustration. In a touristic area full with customers, one would expect better treatment and hospitality. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of these expectations. We left feeling annoyed and disappointed, with no intention of returning. We sat in the Cafe next door where staff was very politely and kind -the opposite of the one before.

We were 3 three people and they were trying to squeeze us in a table. We were about to order lunch and they mentioned that it was mandatory to orders drinks “by rule”. The staff was extremely rude.

Tomatensoep genomen. Het is soep uit een pak, geen balletjes gezien. 2 stukjes brood bestaat uit 2 helften van een doorgesneden bolletje van 5 cm. doorsnee. Voor 8,50 euro een tegenvaller!

Sympathetic but nothing more. We ordered the croquettes, the only item that really stood out to us on our plates. The fries weren't homemade and the vegetables didn't add much. Overall it's an effective option out of the Rijksmuseum but not a great recommendation either.

I have been coming here for eight years and it never fails. Whether outside on the sunny terrace or inside in the cozy restaurant the service is always friendly and the food is exceptional. The menu is basic but caters for everyone from traditional Dutch snacks and desserts to my personal favourites the spicy chicken salad and burger. This family run cafe is a must visit when in Amsterdam and a short walk from the Rijksmuseum.

While walking around Amsterdam on the beautiful morning of January 1st, I passed by this café while the waiter was outside and said good morning. And it was because of this that I went inside and drank a large and tasty Cappuccino. Very nice Café with nice decor and very kind staff

First meal at Amsterdam and the staff made me feel so welcome. They were friendly and nice. Spicy chicken salad was so delicious. Definitely highly recommended.

Just a short stroll towards town from the Rijksmuseum towards Spiegelgracht (mirror canal), hence the restaurant's name De Spiegel. A seemingly short menu, but don't be fooled, it has all the classics and more: pancakes, apple pie, poffertjes (the tiny pancakes), hamburger or croquettes with fries. Decent prices, very good service, attentive, clean, friendly. Recommended.
