The Lunch Club in Haarlemmerbuurt

On a cycling holiday, we took shelter here from a heavy downpour. We were welcomed warmly and enjoyed excellent coffee, fresh mint tea and superb carrot cake and apple pie. The waitress was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Oh dear, the new menu is really a major step backward. Less choice and lower quality. The croquettes are much worse. They aren't from Oma Bob's anymore. Also, you now only get one slice of bread with two croquettes, so one croquette on bread and one to eat by hand. Very strange. It has also become very pricey.

Excellent value for money, the burger and wrap were amazing, delicious, with perfectly balanced flavors, and the warm and friendly service was outstanding. We'll be back.

I had lunch at The Lunch Club today. I sat outside, so I can't judge the interior. Staff came by fairly soon after we sat down to take our order. I had bitter lemon and chicken and cheese focaccia. The taste was reasonably good, but it wasn't really hot. Also, the table wasn't cleaned after we sat down? I wouldn't call it very cozy; the staff speaks English? But that is the norm in Amsterdam these days. I don't know if you should recommend this place for lunch, because I've only been here once. And I don't know if I will come back again.

Disappointing Tourist Trap Unfortunately, this establishment is a definite tourist trap. From the moment we arrived, the experience was frustrating. We had to wait at least 25 minutes just to receive our food. When the meal finally arrived, the quality was shockingly poor and cheap. The soup was served so hot that it actually burnt our tongues, making it impossible to enjoy. The accompanying bread was stale and over-toasted, offering nothing good to the plate. In fact, nothing about the food we received was remotely good. If you are looking for a meal, you might try it once out of curiosity, but rest assured, this is a truly poor-quality experience, and we will never return.

A picturesque Amsterdam café with a no-nonsense attitude. A great spot for a drink after a stroll through Westerpark. We had a hot chocolate with whipped cream for €4.50 (per drink).

The Chicken Waffles were a real surprise. This is what you go to Amsterdam for. The staff is very friendly. Highly recommended for lunch if you're in Amsterdam.

They took like 40mins to bring our order and we were the only customers sitting. The waiter was rude when we asked about a confusion with order.

In comparison to the other restaurants en cafés in Amsterdam this is really not the best. It took 45 minutes before they bring a drink and food at 4:00 p.m.. also the atmosphere is not the live Amsterdam that you expect.

Super slow service, it took a whole hour and 10 minutes from the moment we ordered until when finally (just when we were about to almost leave) we got a sandwich with grilled veggies and a flamkuchen with spinach and salmon. Wouldn’t recommend as the service was really not attentive and caring.

Had a very nice lunch today on the occasion of my brother-in-law's 70 birthday. The food was very tasty and the hostess Lonny knows how it should be done. Unfortunately, you don't come across that very often anymore and you can still order in Dutch, which is unfortunately almost unique. Lonny has been the owner for 43 years and makes everyone happy.

Had lunch here with my friend. We just couldn't sit outside quietly because the music was way too loud and we had to talk over it. I also ate the chicken waffle but became quite ill in the evening. Vomited a lot. This could only have been theirs because I didn't eat anything crazy. Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience, even though the staff was very friendly and it was also affordable!

Hele leuke zaak om lekker te lunchen in Amsterdam. Personeel heel erg vriendelijk, je voelt je net thuis. Hele gezellige middag gehad we hebben er geluncht en daarna nog wat gedronken voor ongeveer 30€p.p. Voor een hele middag vind ik dit niet veel. Het beviel zelfs zo goed dat dat we de volgende dag terug zijn gekomen, werden weer hartelijk ontvangen en kregen de zelfde kwaliteit. Al met al een top zaak !! Groetjes uit Zeeland 😘

Had lunch at The Lunch Club several times last month (Aug 2022), and it was great every time. Yummy food, prompt service, tasty beer options, kind translations for English speakers, and friendly banter with the owner. HIGHLY recommend!
