Yesterday, I sat at a table on the patio with friends for 20 minutes without being helped. We left again. I understand it was busy in town and on the patio, but there were clearly servers pacing back and forth, paying no attention to us, but to other guests. Trying to get attention didn't help either. It's a shame, I would have loved to have a beer here!

Nice little place, it was busy (Christmas market) and they didn't really know how to handle it. Better luck next time...

The service was so bad it really ruined our experience. We waited so long for our order to be taken and then 30 mins for 2 small gluhweins (too small for the price) and 45 mins for a simple toastie - we actually left without recieving it because we already complained and it was nowhere in sight. They need more staff this is absolutely unacceptable.

We had a wonderful time on the terrace boat—what a great idea! We were in Leiden on December 13th, and the boat was practically moored against the floating ice rink—a fantastic view! A blanket or heater would have been nice, so we could have had a second drink, but it didn't spoil the fun.

The atmosphere was great, but the service was terrible: a too-light Moscow Mule was replaced and then charged for as extra vodka. Unacceptable.

We didn't have a reservation and were able to sit for drinks and dinner for a long time. The food was delicious. We spent €200 total for 3 people, but we also had several cocktails. Definitely recommended.

Rude staff who point at you and talk over you when you come for a drink, while we were just behaving properly. What poor service, you are simply looked away from. Burnt snacks for which they charge a premium price, and before we had even finished our drink, we were asked if we wanted to pay and leave.

It was all very disappointing; the food was burnt. The staff were talking about us to other customers while we were behaving ourselves. It was very strange; they should definitely talk to the staff about this, because this is unacceptable. We had to pay and leave, that's how it seemed. Before we even finished our drinks. We went there for a spontaneous meal. At the time we chose, there were still a few tables available, so we were able to sit without a reservation. I opted for an appetizer, which was truly delicious. There are also patio heaters outside for colder evenings. Since I really wanted to sit outside, I didn't check whether there was a seating area inside. The service was very good, and the staff were correspondingly friendly.

I really loved it. Everything was great. The portions very good, nice people and friendly. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.

Apple pie was recommended and was slightly warm and truly delicious! The tastiest apple pie I've had in years. Unfortunately, you might as well skip the whipped cream, not for the flavor or the firmness. Your apple pie simply deserves good whipped cream!

Nice portion size, reasonable priced

Very tasty food for the price. The spicy chicken is highly recommended.

Their website states "Lunch served daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM." We arrived at 11:00 AM and were told the kitchen wouldn't open until noon. When I showed them the website, the friendly guy told me this had been the case for a while, but the owner refuses to update the website. He's passionate about his business.

Day trip to Leiden from the holiday home at the Reeuwijkse Plassen. Very nice city and with summer temperatures a nice lunch on a floating terrace on the water. Pleasant service, also alert with a bowl of water for the dog. More than enough choice with "something for everyone" on the menu. My choice fell on the 'Melted Tuna', definitely a tasty recommendation. Especially if you don't want to eat a large amount but still very tasty.

With warm weather, a drink on the terrace is of course a given. This café is located on the canals of Leiden. Nice location. We sat outside on the floating raft. The weather made for a lot of fun. The café itself is not really fun and the service is not either. They clearly did not feel like it, but that did not matter to us. The people outside were cheerful and friendly. Otherwise nothing special.

The food is good and the price is reasonable. However, the service was awful. The table wasn't ready despite a reservation, and the server was odious and rude. A mistake in our orders forced one of us to eat after the others had finished, while another ate their meat without the fries they had ordered. The server huffed and puffed and chastised us for our poor English and our lack of Dutch. He was provocative. So, a lackluster visit, which ruined our festive evening.

Food is good here. New wait staff is not good. I came here every Sunday when it was sunny to drink a few Brand weizen and have lunch on the terrace boat. I sat there for Jan L 3 times in 6 weeks. All tables and the last time there were 5 who came after me got their drinks and I still had nothing after 25 minutes. Asked for it but to no avail. The girl who had taken my order suddenly liked me and came to tell me that there was no Brand weizen on tap anymore, sorry I forgot to tell you. I left. Similar thing the previous times, the same girl twice. 3x is a charm, I will choose a different terrace from now on.

Spare ribs tough and way too small portion. Steak with pepper sauce. Didn't taste any pepper. The potato gratin was tasty and sufficient

Very nice view from the terrace (boat), but €6.25 for an Affligem is ridiculously exaggerated. They also watch you outside when your drink has barely finished.

The sandwiches were really all so good! Great value for money! And above all, what an experience to eat on a boat! In addition, the servers were very attentive :-)

Absolutely recommended! The pulled pork burger is a poem!

UNFORTUNATELY, the croquettes on bread are now served on an old, tough, oblong bread sawn in half instead of a few slices of bread. Can't be cut, can't be eaten, so tough..... Still a nice and therefore popular place in Leiden. Very nice and sweet staff (really congratulations people!!!), good and fast service, but no rush for you, take your time. The wine has become a bit sour and the food is UNFORTUNATELY no longer a normal price. Will we come back???

Delicious food in a very cozy atmosphere, with very friendly staff, for a fair price.

Too bad but in one word bad, the service that only speaks English. Then ordered two Italian tomato soup and a toasted sandwich (soup was just cold/lukewarm) was reheated after having a few bites it seems like you are eating pizza sauce. Too bad a chef does not taste that himself

Had a delicious boneless ribs sandwich. The service was fine. I just think it's a shame that the interior has changed. I've been coming here for years and I still remember what it looked like here before. In my opinion, that looked so much more cozy and fun.

Cozy place to sit with friendly staff.

Didn't eat, but drank. The service was excellent, nice atmosphere, unfortunately the Long Island ice tea cocktail was a disappointment. 12.50 and tasted mainly of coke. Alcohol was hard to find in terms of taste experience. It would have been better to go for a glass of red wine, but I thought, go crazy.

I was unpleasantly surprised by the reuse of the fries. On top of the tray, there was a handful of cold fries, with remnants of satay sauce on about five pieces. Underneath, there were fresh, hot, 'clean' fries. This put me in a dilemma. I also believe that we shouldn’t waste food, but in this case, I had my doubts. Nice interior, bit studentlike, main course around €20,-

Lovely restaurant. The place has a warm and comforting vibe. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were filling.

We have been customers for years and came there often. On the day of opening after lockdown, we arrive at 9.25 pm to have a beer on the terrace. The waitress (who has also known us for years) sends us away like toddlers. This is because they want to close at 10:00 PM. What a sad thing to happen!!! It's a nice place in itself, but it doesn't appreciate regular customers. We won't go here again

Nice coffee and tea, but a bit impersonal atmosphere. Staff greeted upon arrival and departure and the tables are very close together.

Ff into Leiden, cold (2⁰) so hungry for something warm, it was lunch time and we stood in front of the Stadtholder. First capuchino, great! Warm brie sandwich and salmon sandwich. Richly topped and good in taste. Neat and smooth operation.

Food was good, but service took a very long time to take the order. We waited at least 20 minutes for them to come to the table. The crowds weren't too bad.

What a terribly restless cafe! We sat upstairs, next to the kitchen, it was really unusual to hear the noise coming from there, they sounded like construction workers, just antisocial. Anyway, the food… our lunch… we had the flammkuchen Magherita and the mini beef burgers. Although not a success, it was made by toddlers, it looked so amateurish and tasted that way too. I have a better lunch at home, and in many other places too. Oh yes... the toilet fits well into the overall picture, bah bah. Next time we'll skip this one, but I think that's unnecessary to say.

Such a delicious meal here! The staff was very friendly and the dishes were of good proportions and excellent taste. Recommended!

Had lunch, the menu included a snack board. Ordered this, took a while. It was more of a shelf than a shelf, the size of a tablet. The pieces of cheese were cut tiny. The bitterballen and croquettes were delicious, the rest also tasted okay, but we thought the salmon was less suitable on this platter. Olives would have been more appropriate and, for example, breaded prawns. It was minimal in terms of price and quantity. We are used to larger planks in Brabant. 😉 It was quiet inside, because of the nice weather there were many people on the spacious terrace.

I can't say too much about this place as we had a beer and fries only, but one cool thing it does have is the seating outside on the on the water terrace. You can feel all the vibrations when the boats pass by. Just beware of the seagulls who try to steal your food!

New owner (again) and back to normal Dutch food. Many owners all over the years but OK at the moment.

Hard to say if the food overall was any good as we only had a couple of small things and beer. Ours were okay and other people around us seemed to enjoy. Not fancy or fine dining. Service was fairly quick. Prices were predictable for a touristy canal side place. The view was terrific. Great boat and people watching.

The seagulls rob you of your food after you have had to wait an hour for service that does not speak Dutch.

I ordered a club sandwich. It was just on the table and then a seagull grabbed my food. Half of my sandwich was gone and all the chips too. I went to ask the waiter if it was possible to get a new one, but that was not possible. I was only able to eat half of the sandwich at full price.

Outdoor seating is great with fantastic view. The food is just fine. Don’t order the pumpkin soup. It tastes like curry soup. Curry flavour is too strong and I cannot feel any pumpkin.

Great place for a casual drink and light meal/snacks. From the bars nearby that I've tried, this is the best one so far. It is cleaner than Einstein or Dende and the beers are served cold, as they should be.

Nice place with very different beers. Can definitely recommend it.

Mint tea yum. Fresh mint in a lovely glass mug. However mug was small and when the mint is removed only a small amount of tea is left. So I asked for more hot water, at first it was refused but after the server came out and said the manager said for €1.50 he would refil with hot water. Probably would not return on the basis it's just hot water!!!! Was not impressed 🤷

Went to the bar to get 3 beers paid them directly than asked for a tray so i could bring them to my table. The manager started screaming at me for no reason because i was walking with a tray. What a weird way to treat a paying geust

The winter sun lures us outside again for lunch, this time on the Leiden canal with the highest concentration of restaurants per square meter: the Nieuwe Rijn. Although some brave souls are already sitting on the terrace, we still opt for inside. Where have we ended up, you ask? We decided to go for an unusual choice and ended up at the Stadthouder. This was a familiar place for both of us, but especially from passing by while shopping at the market or on the way to other destinations. The sliding door opens and a friendly face immediately greets us.

Na meerdere positieve ervaringen wederom een etentje hier. Wat een ware teleurstelling qua bediening, samenscholing bij de bar zonder op de gasten te letten, rommelig, geen vaste bedieningswijk. Op de etage vrijwel geen bediening waardoor 2x naar beneden (na 3 kwartier) om bediening te krijgen, geïrriteerde barmedewerker die achteraf geen Nederlands sprak en daarom zo reageerde. In totaal 3x om de rekening gevraagd. Schandelijk!!!! Voor de keuken een pluim, het eten was heerlijk. Maar in de bediening mag een structurele aanpak toegepast worden en wanneer je de taal niet spreekt: doe er wat aan of zoek een andere baan, een avondje uit hoort een feest te zijn met gastvrijheid voorop!!!

Had a delicious club sandwich with a coffee. The atmosphere was mainly determined by a few Gaastrajas who also wore their scarves inside and then sat around chatting away, even though they were fifty. They also order a club sandwich, as if we all belong together. The carpaccio is also appreciated.

Had lunch here with 2 people. Despite the crowds, they were helped quickly and we didn't have to wait long for our lunch. Cozy atmosphere, decent choice of drinks and food. We found the price acceptable for what we ordered. Pulled salmon and spare rib sandwich.

It was a pleasant bustle inside and we were pointed out to a free spot at the back, a higher part with a beautiful view over the cafe. We enjoyed the drinks and snacks and were served promptly by friendly employees after ordering.

Dagje Leiden en geluncht bij de Stadthouder aan de Nieuwe Rijn. We rolden van de brug af zo naar binnen. De entree met schuifdeuren verbaasde me. Het is praktisch, maar niet heel sfeervol...Tja, dat valt me dan op. Van binnen een mix van modern cafe met bartafels en achterin een bruin cafe sfeer. Het broodje boneless sparerib smaakte goed, maar kostte me bijna een kroon vanwege een stukje verdwaald bot. Kan gebeuren natuurlijk. De service is goed en vlot. Zodoende stonden we na 45 minuten weer buiten.

Leuke tent, gezellig! Vriendelijke bediening en lekker geluncht.

Het eten was lekker maar het lag zo ongelukkig op het broodje dat alles er gelijk afflikkerde (excuus voor mijn taalgebruik 🤷🏻‍♀️). Daar zou ik wel echt iets op verzinnen!
