I rarely write a negative review, but this was without a doubt the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. My husband, his family, and I sat down on the terrace, but our table was dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests. We had to move the dirty plates to another table ourselves before anyone helped us. We politely asked the waitress if she would clean the table. Instead, she took our order first. We also asked for an ashtray. A moment later, she brought a dirty ashtray from another table, still full of cigarette butts and ash. That is absolutely unacceptable. After our order, we waited about twenty minutes for our drinks. My husband went to ask where the drinks were. About five minutes later, another waitress finally came with the drinks. We politely asked her again if she would clean the table. Her answer was: "No, we are busy. We don't have time for that." Then she said that if we didn't like the dirty table, she could cancel our order and we would have to leave the terrace. My husband asked to speak to the manager, but she said he wasn't there. When my husband went inside and spoke to the bartender, the latter told him that he was the manager. After hearing the story, he only said that he stood behind his colleagues and asked us to leave the terrace. When my husband walked back outside, the first waitress even said: "See? I always stand behind my colleagues." As a restaurant manager on a river cruise ship in Switzerland, I have worked in the hospitality industry for years, and I have never experienced such disrespectful, unprofessional, and unhygienic treatment. A manager ought to investigate both sides of a complaint instead of automatically siding with the employees. I sincerely hope that the owner or management takes this feedback seriously, because with this kind of service, you only drive customers away. Respect, hygiene, and professionalism should always come first.

Unpleasant atmosphere. Had to wait 17 minutes for a drink. And then they say, "Yeah, it's a bit busy." Maybe more staff or put out fewer chairs if you can't get any.

We went for a drink and the service was poor. The sparkling water came from a tap but it barely had any fizz.

Paying extra for honey with mint tea…. Scandalous! Tips for the owner: Put a barrier in front of the toilet and charge a few euros for using it Salt and pepper on your fried egg? One euro!

The culinary quality of this restaurant isn't top-notch. I've even eaten better at a roadside diner. The Italian salad suddenly had to be served with goat cheese instead of burrata (it was gone), and the half chicken wasn't ready yet. The soup wasn't warm, and the schnitzel was mushy at the bottom and not crispy at all. Other than the quality of the food, I have no other complaints.

Not a great place to dine. A very long wait, a limited menu (and then one dish had no sauce, even though it wasn't busy at all), rock-hard fries, a pathetic little blob of mashed potatoes, terrible asparagus, the steak sauce was tasteless, and the staff simply left empty bottles behind. As a restaurant, it deserves at most one star, never again.

Very poor service. Dirty glasses. And if you say anything about it, you might get a rude mouth.

We ate here tonight. The atmosphere wasn't great when we walked in. We heard several tables complaining to the staff. We waited an hour and a half for our main course. The salmon was incredibly dry, and both steaks were overcooked. The service was very friendly, though.

We hebben hier geluncht, en de prijs was best hoog voor een salade met kip die moest je zoeken 16.50.De pinot grigio witte wijn was 8 euro per glas. Geen wonder dat er niemand op het terras zat. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Malgré une excellente localisation, l’expérience reste mitigée : Service très (trop) long Les plats manquent de saveurs : plat du moment à base d’asperges, vraiment décevant (asperges fades, sans goût, simplement accompagnées de 2 tranches d’un bacon de piètre qualité, trop sec et trop salé) ; dessert étouffe chrétien (cheesecake aux spéculoos), et pourtant je suis plutôt gourmand Service moyen : dommage de n’obtenir le pain (payant !) qu’à la fin de repas !

Matig, sfeerloos. Eigenaar zeurderig. Teerkamer gaat blijkbaar verder onder de naam "Times" . Hopelijk gaat de kwaliteit omhoog anders is het gewoon meer van hetzelfde.

Een hightea gereserveerd voor 4 personen. De tomatensoep was lekker, maar de hartige en zoete hapjes waren echt niet om te eten. Er was totaal geen variatie. Broodjes met rauwe ham en rosbief, crackers met rauwe ham. De helft hiervan bleef liggen, omdat het niet te eten was. Droge croissantjes met niets erop, slagroomsoesjes die uit de vriezer komen en droge brownie en boterkoek. De quiche was ook erg droog en zat geen smaak aan. Gelukkig hadden we thee om al dit droge eten weg te spoelen. Bij navraag waarom er zo weinig variatie was kregen we als reactie: "Het is maar net wat we hebben liggen". Rauwe ham dus!! Zonde van de €26,50 die je hier pp voor betaald, aangezien je buik nog niet vol is als je weggaat. De afbeelding op de site leek ook totaal niet op wat we kregen.

Had high tea with friends, and it looked completely different than on the site, lots of ham, and the sweet part was very sad. A brownie, a profiterole and a dry croissant, completely different than what we expected. The only tasty thing was the soup with sandwiches, the quiche was dry, luckily we had tea. I won't do high tea here again, not recommended

Delicious food. Service good and friendly: when I asked if the huge TV screens with flashing advertisements could be changed or, even better, turned off, a TV fireplace was lit shortly afterwards. I wonder... why those huge TV screens are on in an otherwise very cozy and good restaurant.. ?!

Centrally located in Bergen op Zoom. Close to the Markiezenhof.

The Angus burger is simply great, well seasoned, very large (220gr) and super tasty. The staff is really nice and accommodating. Recommended!

This restaurant is located in a striking and prominent location on Grote Mark in Bergen op Zoom. In addition to the restaurant, they also have a very nice and large terrace with a view over the market. Of course, patio heating and possibly a blanket are provided. We did not eat here, but ended the evening with a few tasty drinks. Ideal location for that!

Nice restaurant. We could choose a nice table ourselves. The menu provided sufficient choice. I ordered the menu, my wife a la carte. The starters, slightly spicy scampi and tuna tataki, were generous portions and delicious. Then I got tenderloin steaks prepared in an Oriental way and my partner had a fish stew. Both dishes were a culinary success. Finally, we both had coffee with friandises. The service was friendly and attentive. An old lady, who could only eat a small piece of her cake, was helped by the friendly waiter with a goody bag. Despite the hustle and bustle, he took all the time for her. Nice to see. We had a fantastic evening and can recommend the Teerkamer to everyone.

First time coming here with my group from canada! I gotta say that the burger, and the mayo with fries I had were delicious... thanks to our best server, Shea. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting the Netherlands!! 😊 - Marc

Hugely disappointed!! I had reserved a table for me and my 6 year old daughter. Unfortunately, upon arrival (half past five) we were told that we could only order from the dinner menu from 5 o'clock. I thought okay, I'll order something from the lunch menu. But my daughter couldn't have a single croquette with fries. If these came in pairs, then she could have bitterballen. When I indicated that we would go somewhere else, I was only looked at condescendingly and was charged almost 8 euros for 2 drinks. Which my daughter could barely drink because she wasn't given a straw, but a glass that she could barely hold.

Leuk terras, nog heerlijk in de zon gezeten midden op de markt. Vriendelijke en snelle bediening. Heerlijke bieren. Dit keer niets gegeten.

Very irresponsible and indifferent staff. Ordered a Cassis here yesterday and after 10 seconds my lips started to swell. Then reported it to the staff and said there was nothing they could do about it. Paid 6.40 euros and then went home. Once home, the swelling started to get worse. Called HAP and they suspected it was an allergic reaction. Tablets taken and cooled. It only started to disappear the next day. Then contacted by telephone and staff indicated that they had no knowledge of it and were almost certain that it was not their fault. Employee indicates that he always washes all glasses in the machine, but everyone knows that used glasses are rinsed and then only washed properly at the end of the day. Staff refused to apologize and remained indifferent. We recently went to dinner with friends and ordered nachos, but we never received them after asking twice. Very bad tent and take no responsibility! Update: Unacceptable Customer Service and Threatening Behavior I am very disappointed in my recent experience at De Teerkamer. After an evening visit where I had an allergic reaction, I took the time to write an honest review. To my surprise and shock, I was then threatened by the owner, Daphne, who claimed to have viewed CCTV footage with sound and accused me of lying about my experience. What's even worse is that she threatened to file a libel and slander lawsuit if I didn't delete my review within an hour. She even went so far as to say that her brother is a police officer and her sister-in-law is a lawyer, which I see as an attempt to intimidate me and suppress my right to free speech. Additionally, it is inappropriate and concerning that she searched my social media to find and confront me. This behavior is unacceptable and a serious invasion of my privacy. I don't recommend anyone to visit this place if you value respectful and professional customer service. The worst union soup I had in my life. I would recommend the chef to look up some decent recipe online and at least cook the unions so they are not partly raw.

A relaxed place for you and your friends to have a chat, or to drink something and just relax with the view of central square of Bergen op Zoom. Good people, nice city, nice restaurant.

For a quick and tasty bite you can definitely go to the Teerkamer. Price-quality is good and the staff is helpful and up for a chat.

De Teerkamer is al jaren onze vaste stek om te lunchen in Bergen op Zoom ,Zoals altijd weer lekker broodje carpaccio gegeten en dat was weer super en ook het personeel vriendelijk en attent 👍👌

Today we had a snack and a drink with our son and his family on the heated outdoor terrace. Things didn't go well when serving the drinks. Our grandson (1 year old) lunged at the tray above his head and with success. He had a full bottle of beer poured over him. Both the little man and the stroller he was in were quite wet. The people around us watched with some amazement, awaiting action. Unfortunately, the service did nothing to remove or dry anything. When we said something about this to the manager (or supervisor) at checkout, he went and asked the clerk. The bottom line was that the child was guilty and we should just be happy that it was a cold drink. The fun was completely gone for us. A tea towel, apology or small compensation would have been appropriate. The man ended his conversation with: my time is precious and fall down.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel, een gezellige plek om te lunchen in Bergen-op-Zoom. We namen de lunch specials en waren zeer tevreden over de kwaliteit van het eten.

Vriendelijke begroeting en snelle bediening. Koffie en Gemberthee prima van smaak. Uitzicht over het plein prima. Warmte stralers op het overdekte en afgeschermde terras zorgden voor plezierige warmte tijdens dit gure koude weer.

Vriendelijk personeel. Vlug geholpen. Alleen de deurdrangers van de wc moeten even opnieuw afgesteld worden.

Heerlijke plek om iets te eten of wat te drinken, vriendelijk personeel en ze schenken goede koffie

Snelle bediening en een goede cappuccino lunch was matig moet ik zeggen. Erg schoon kon ik het ook niet vinden! Jammer!

Vriendelijke bediening en een mooie locatie. Uitzicht over de mooie Markt van Bergen op Zoom. Maar het eten is minder helaas. Wij bestelden 2x een kipsaté, 1x een biefstuk en 2x spareribs. De saté heeft geen stokje, dat is nog tot daar aan toe. Maar de kip is verstopt onder een dikke laag satesaus zodat je niet zou zien dat je niet de mooiste kipfilet krijgt. De spareribs gaan niet goed van het bot, hebben niet lang genoeg gegaard. De biefstuk is niet mals en heeft een vreemde, iets of wat gerookte nasmaak. Het lijkt alsof niets hier wordt bereid, alleen opgewarmd. Uiteindelijk tegenvallend, geen waar voor je geld.

Gezellige zaak zowel binnen als op het terras. Eten was lekker en redelijk van prijs. Vriendelijk personeel ook.

Prachtig plek voor een lunch of diner in hartje Bergen op Zoom

Heel vriendelijke bediening, uitstekend broodje zalm gegeten, de koffie erbij was ook uitstekend en snel gebracht. Ook een glas vers geperst sinaasappelsap gehad en ook dat beviel uitstekend. De prijzen en snelheid van afrekenen zijn een voorbeeld voor de concurrentie.

Vriendelijke en goede bediening, gezellige zaak

De Teerkamer heeft voor ons een stukje nostalgie, omdat we er 25 jaar geleden veel kwamen toen we in Bergen op Zoom woonden. Fijn om te ervaren dat de Teerkamer er nog steeds is, en dat het voor een mooie mix van jong en oud gezellig is. Het terras heeft een geweldig uitzicht over het plein en je kan ook meer op het plein zitten( zie tweede foto) als je wilt. De kroketten met brood zijn een aanrader, en ik had witte sangria met veel ijs en munt( dacht ik) een heerlijk verkoelend zomers drankje.🍹De prijs stond niet op het bord bij het terras, die was hoger dan ik dacht, maar het was heel lekker.Personeel is heel vriendelijk, binnen is er veel veranderd, dus ik denk dat het tot in de late uurtjes daar heel gezellig kan zijn.

Sehr leckeres Essen und tolle Aussicht auf den Marktplatz. Leider sind der Service und die Küche nicht die schnellsten. Man wartet sehr lange auf das Essen.

Schoon. Aardig personeel goede service. Croquet madame zag er niet uit hoe ik ze ken. Deze was van 3 boterhammen maar hij was wel lekker

Wat een heerlijk grand cafe, in het mooie historische centrum van Bergen op Zoom. Gelegen aan de Grote Markt is het echt genieten op het ruime mooie terras. We hebben genoten van heerlijke speciaal bieren, en de volgende dag van een prima lunch. Speciale aanrader, het broodje hete kip! Ook leuk is dat schuin aan de overkant het oudste hotel van Nederland is, hotel de Draak.

Het eten was niet zo lekker. Spareribs komen uit blik (smaken zoals je een blikje ingemaakte vleesballetjes zoals je in de supermarkt kan kopen). De ribs worden geenzins gegrilld en opgewarmd in de oven. De kabeljauw filet is in 5'en gedeeld (je krijgt dus 1 - 5e deel van een normale filet) met zeer weinig smaak. De frietjes waren oke de koolsalade vlak. Voor ons zeker geen herhaling bij dit restaurant.

Preis-/Leistung ist okay. Gute Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen. Leider nur eine rein Niederländische Karte und die Bedienungen waren ziemlich überfordert.

Ik vond het zo tegenvallen. Zeker de prijs kwaliteit verhouding. De warme groentes waren een stukje stam van een champignon en een stukje steel van een groene asperge. Het vlees zat vol pezen en was wel heel erg rare ipv medium-rare.

Prachtige locatie op de historische markt in Bergen op Zoom. Allereerst een vlotte en leuke bediening dat afgemaakt wordt met een lekkere lunch. Super.

Bediening vriendelijk. We miste een snackie en de curry was vergeten en de frinkandelle zijn zelf klein gesneden en dus erg ongelijk
