We had a lovely lunch here during our bike ride. Due to the crowds (always a good sign), we did have to be a bit patient before we could be served. But the service itself was very pleasant, relaxed, and good. Go eat there yourself sometime and see what you think.

A bit messy kitchen and/or service. Bread was forgotten with the salad: the kitchen and/or service did not notice this. There is plenty for children to play with. The chicken burger was tasty, but there was quite little chicken. The bread was good. The chocolate sprinkles had turned grey. We were given an alternative for this, though.

Nice place. Open every day in July and August. Cozy terrace with shade, friendly service. They also have group packages.

Last Sunday, I participated in Hap & Stap Brummen with two friends, starting and ending at Vroolijke Frans. It was a lovely walk with stops for a few delicious dishes. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed the surroundings and the company. The weather was also on our side. In short: highly recommended for a lovely day out ❤️.

We had different expectations for the murder mystery dinner. Nevertheless, they did their very best. It just wasn't our thing. That happens. The three-course menu was delicious. Very impressive, too. To make everything run so smoothly for such a large group. A warm welcome and, once again, delicious food. The fish trio was my favorite.

It was a pleasant surprise regarding the quality of the food. The prices seem on the high side, but you get more than your money's worth. Keep it up.

On February 15th, the Old Iezer Jazzband opened the 2026 Cultural Program of the Vroolijke Frans. The band enjoyed playing to a packed house and enthusiastic audience. The extremely friendly and cheerful service (thanks, ladies!), the host, and the excellent kitchen staff certainly contributed to the wonderful atmosphere. Thank you, also on behalf of the Old Iezer Jazzband.

I have eaten here often; it was very tasty. I visited tonight just for drinks. I ordered a nice Chardonnay. However, I found the glasses to be very small, and while I often go for a nice drink here and there, I wasn't familiar with this place. I also didn't want to come across in a certain way, so I let it go. When I heard that the Chardonnay cost €8.90 as well, I felt I was entitled to say something about it. I pointed this out politely. The answer was that they have new glasses. We were the last ones in the restaurant and we didn't feel at ease; the music was also turned off and the staff were already having drinks together. But okay, the wine did taste good.

A beautiful spot, friendly staff, and the lunch was delicious and plentiful. The coffee comes with delicious homemade butter cake. We'll definitely be back.

We were there over Christmas. The food was excellent. As for the restaurant itself, I was quite cold, even though we were seated in the back. I was told it was because the door kept opening. Not pleasant. I also found the room very large, which made it noisy and cluttered. It made it difficult to talk to my table companions. A real shame.

Last Saturday we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Vroolijke Frans. It was perfectly catered! We'd heard many positive comments about the buffet. The service was lovely and friendly – ​​in short, a very successful party!

We accidentally discovered that a game week was being held this week and that there was still room for Friday evening. We received a warm welcome from the host and enjoyed a delicious game menu. Beautiful combinations, incredibly tender meat, and super friendly service. It was nice that the chef himself served the dishes at the table. All in all, a wonderful evening!

From the first bite, it felt like autumn itself had arrived at the table. The game buffet was an explosion of deep, full flavors, tender meat, rich sauces, and herbs that struck just the right chord. A true sensation for the palate. Kudos to the chef. The space exuded warmth and coziness: soft lighting, a crisp atmosphere, and a welcome that felt like joining good friends. What a disappointment... Upon arriving with our racing bikes, we wanted to have lunch here, but to keep them visible, we hadn't put them in the bike rack. There was some criticism, and they were allowed to stay there as a very special exception. After all, we neatly placed them in the rack and sat on the veranda, partly because a couple was already there. When I told them we were in the front row, I was told to sit on the side. When I asked why, the answer was curt: "We weren't being served in the front row." Strange, because the couple had cutlery ready for lunch, and they were just as surprised as we were. After sitting briefly, we left, and to our surprise, there were bikes in the first place we chose for our bikes that were apparently allowed. I've been coming to Vroolijke Frans since I was a child (I played football as a kid at Oeken and attended many a party). I enjoyed being back, but that was the last time. I've never in my life (now 66 years old) been treated so rudely by a staff member. What a shame...

We were (almost the only ones) inside with my 94-year-old father-in-law, and the music was blaring. We could barely hold a conversation. The service was all very young, friendly staff, but they forgot a lot of things. The food was good, but I found the dessert price-quality ratio inadequate.

Very special!!!😍 Due to severe overstimulation due to brain damage, I have not been able to eat out for almost 10 years. When people next to me talk and others on the other side, plus sounds of spoons, cutlery, chairs moving, clinking etc. I hear everything mixed up and just as loud. And now dad turned 85 in May. And so I can't eat out with the whole bunch. And we still wanted to. Long live De Vrolijke Frans in Brummen! Plenty of space around it and dads and I were allowed to sit on our own terrace, away from the rest. And my furniture was adjusted because of the many allergies! I had a DELICIOUS meal!!! Chapeau! Finally again! How special! Thanks De Vrolijke Frans for the service! Worth repeating!

It was a fantastic party with Madness. The atmosphere was incredibly good. The only negative point is the price of a glass of wine compared to the content of the glass. Never received so little wine for such a high price. This really doesn't make sense anymore

The warm atmosphere and the hospitable team have ensured that we and especially our guests felt very welcome. The food (completely vegan!) was delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere of the location, both inside and outside, was also exactly what we were looking for for our Peaky Blinders & Bohemian theme. The service was very friendly and professional, and we really felt in good hands. In short: We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our special day. It was a fairytale come true! We look back on our wedding day with great pleasure and can recommend De Vroolijke Frans to anyone who is looking for a top location for a wedding or other special moment. What a nice place. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere, but that's not so bad. With perhaps the most distinctive menu in the area, a chef who can cook and the fact that they also know what is and is not possible for people with celiac disease (gluten intolerance), this restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you are on holiday in the area.
