What a DELICIOUS meal we had! While we were enjoying our meal (I had the most delicious pork belly I'd had in a long time), the owner stopped by all the tables to ask if we were satisfied. I told him the pork belly was truly fantastic. He explained how he made it, a process that took a good 24 hours. Besides the pork belly, there were so many other delicious dishes on the menu. A reason for us to definitely go back again!

Dinner with a €45 cover charge. The rack of lamb was undercooked, and the roast potatoes were initially raw and then charred black after being returned to the kitchen. No apology was forthcoming at checkout.

We had a delicious meal. We received a tasty appetizer on the house beforehand. We ordered chicken satay and a mixed grill. The chicken was super tender and flavorful, as were the spare ribs, steak, and pork tenderloin. The staff was friendly.

We had lunch last Sunday. I had a chicken club sandwich, which was fine, but the bread was very hard and chewy. We also had to get cutlery ourselves, and they only asked us what we wanted to drink when we'd been in our seats for a second, and then never again, even though it wasn't busy and there were plenty of staff. Upon entering, we immediately noticed a lot of smoke/vapor in the restaurant, which was unpleasant. It seemed as if the extractor fan wasn't working properly. When we sat down at our table, we noticed it was very dirty, with a greasy film that made my hands dirty. I approached a staff member and asked them to clean the table, but the response felt unhelpful. We then had to wait a considerable time before being served, while staff behind the bar were busy on their phones. The menus were also dirty and greasy. We ordered the turf burger. When my meal was served, I discovered a black hair in the green beans. The waitress took my plate away, but when it returned a few minutes later, I had the impression that only the hair had been removed. In the end, I only ate the burger and fries. Throughout the evening, we experienced little attention from the staff. They didn't ask if everything was to our liking, and I had to call their attention to order a second drink. When paying, I raised the aforementioned issues, to which the staff member simply apologized and entered the amount. I'm normally very satisfied with your restaurant, and this visit was disappointing. The general impression was that the restaurant wasn't clean. Had to wait a long time for the apple strudel. The coffee was cold by then, and the apple strudel was still frozen. When I mentioned it, I got no response. I'll never come back.

We had a party here. It was well-organized. Delicious snacks and more. Great atmosphere.

We ate here tonight. Both the starters and main courses were excellent. The prawns were quite spicy, but still delicious. The plates were beautifully presented. They really put a lot of care into it. Fast service, mediocre food. Carpaccio was swimming in dressing. Steak wasn't even asked how you'd like it cooked. Setting the air conditioning to 16°C wasn't pleasant either.

You can definitely have a nice drink there. But then the ladies shouldn't order cocktails because most of the ingredients for cocktails are not available. And then the food, that's also bad. The steak was tasteless and the schnitzel leaked liquid when you cut it open. We got a new one, but it tasted like something from a cold deep fryer. No, sorry, that was a one-time thing.

Had lunch here with my daughter this afternoon. Drinks were brought quickly. Then it took a very long time before we could have our food order taken. After that, it took at least another half hour for the grilled cheese and ham sandwich to arrive. The time between ordering drinks and having lunch was almost an hour.

Last time we wanted to eat at 10:00. No problem! The next day at 9:30: sorry, not everything can close. (Friday evening) If you go on weekends, they close at 9:30 PM even though it says 11:00 AM. Ridiculous, and you always have to wait half an hour for someone to come to you.

Great food, Friendly chef. Today they had a BBQ party... every third Saturday of the month in the summer (if I understand correctly). Very tasty, but I usually like the pork belly there too. The chef even prepared a piece especially for me. 👌🏻

Delicious food for a reasonable price

Excellent service. It was our first time in Klazinaveen, but we were promptly assisted by two friendly young ladies. We started with the house amuse-bouche, which was delicious and set the tone for the rest of the meal. The mixed grill was more than ample, and the meat was very well-prepared. The pork belly was also excellent. The desserts were also delicious. I definitely recommend eating here.

We had a delicious lunch, with a well-prepared, full plate of food. Not cheap, but not shockingly expensive either.

It took a while before I was noticed; I'd already been sitting there for 10 minutes. Maybe I shouldn't have sat in the corner? Great beer, the food was well presented, but the egg seemed fresh/cold, not warm. Maybe that's part of the warm scrambled egg sandwich. The sandwich was fresh, though. Not a highlight, but still tasty. My empty beer was noticed, and I was quickly asked if I wanted another beer. In my case, always, of course. Cappuccino and pie for dessert; unfortunately, they were out of cheesecake. The server assured me it was just as good as cheesecake. So, okay! Let's give it a try. It was averagely busy around 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on this Tuesday. The atmosphere was friendly, no screaming children, and the music, well, it was a mix of both, with super low bass in the system. Nice. If I ever come to Klazienaveen again, I'd definitely like to visit the White Elephant. The first 10/15 minutes didn't quite give it an 8. And during my time here, I decided to learn Swahili, which has nothing to do with the elephant anymore. Unless someone else experiences the same thing. Let me know. 7.5 out of 10 P.S. The pie tasted great.

Food is delicious. They take your allergy into account. Top arranged really recommended even if you don't have an allergy.

Unfortunately, we arrived at 22:15 to have a last beer with a group of 7. Both Google and the website said they were open until 23:00. We were immediately told that they were closing. And without any hesitation, the staff walked on in sweatpants and slippers. We were surprised and it was clear that we were not welcome. Too bad, because there were still people inside and on the terrace and they were still there half an hour later.

Great location! After shopping, we sat down at De Witte Olifant. We had a delicious meal! The house appetizer, the zucchini soup was delicious! The staff noticed us and regularly came by to ask if everything was to our liking, etc. We will definitely come back here again if we're ever in the area :)

Service was good but will never go there again. Hot, or even cold, chocolate milk is not a recommended drink. Bouncer sandwich, croquette with plain sandwiches are also not recommended, not to mention the salad that was served with it. Once but never again

Had lunch here with my son on a Saturday. It took a long time to get our food. At least 50 minutes. Something that is very difficult with a little one. I didn't think the pancake was worth the money, small and thin. The bouncer was insignificant and cold. Take an example of Sisters in Emmen. Very dissatisfied, we arrived at 5.30 pm and at 6.45 pm we received our bread platter and at 7.30 pm our main course, lukewarm and cold, burnt, etcetera etcetera. Worst of all, if we hadn't sounded the alarm ourselves, we wouldn't even have gotten any food. All in all what a mess for us never again brrrrrrr. Extremely expensive and not worth eating. Had lunch today. Croquette sandwich, not the most difficult dish. First I got 2 croquettes that were still frozen on the inside. Then, of course, I had to wait for new ones. My partner had already finished eating when my new croquettes arrived. These were rock hard because they had been in the fryer for an extra long time. When I went to pay I was asked if I had enjoyed it. I then honestly said that it had not really been tasty. The only thing that came up was: "that's 25 euros". No "sorry" or "what a shame". If that had been said then it would have been fine and I would not have posted this review. But I thought this was really bad....

After some waiting and asking we were helped. Placed an order. The food and drinks were fine. Unfortunately we couldn't say the same about the staff, they weren't friendly, and when we finally wanted to pay, it was a bye after paying... very unfortunate, location is nice, food is otherwise good. But I can't call it feeling like a welcome customer...

You can enjoy a nice meal and drink here

We had reserved a high tea for 10 people. When we arrived at the agreed time last Sunday, we were told that they were closed for a private party. It soon became clear that our arrival was not expected. Even though the reservation could be found and we received a reminder about this the day before. Contact was still being made with the owner. He said he would contact us by telephone about this. To date, that has not happened. Conclusion, one star is still too many for the White Elephant. We will never come here again.

Delicious beer on tap (Golden Carolus whiskey infused). Definitely recommended, the drink slice was also very tasty! Also a very friendly owner.

Had a really delicious high beer, had 3 special beers for 25 euros. And these were certainly not your average beers. Together with the well-stocked drinks board, this is definitely worth repeating!

A very nice place to have a beer and top service

After 3 bad service it's a charm. They are only friendly if they know you. The drinks were quick, but then we waited 30 minutes before we could order food. When my husband had placed his order, the lady continued while I had not yet ordered anything. When I said something about that, the lady became even more unfriendly. Then we waited another half hour before the food arrived. I think she made us wait longer on purpose because I expressed our displeasure as everyone else around us ordered later but got the food earlier. When the food was finally brought we were given no cutlery. I am also a diabetic and have to inject insulin. I didn't expect to get a hypo because the food took so long. We will definitely never come here again.

Niet veel restaurants in Klazienaveen, dus we gingen hier op het terras zitten! Het bestek zit in een emmertje en zetten ze zo op tafel! Beetje simpel allemaal! Ik had een uitsmijter, maar stond geen peper of zout om tafel! Dus daar ook ongevraagd. We moesten 40 min wachten op onze lunch.

Top .... we hebben er heerlijk gegeten hardwerkende bediening. die het iedereen maar naar de zin moeten maken. We komen hier zeker terug.

After shopping, sit outside on the terrace on a beautiful sunny day. Enough staff available. A White Elephant salad (with steak tips) and a salad with goat cheese. Both sufficient for a reasonable price. Not something particularly culinary.

Long waiting times, food was very disappointing (focaccia tuna, with spicy mayonnaise... it was just dumped on top of the focaccia and there was no mayonnaise on it, certainly not spicy). I wonder if they also just throw it on top of a pistolet. Drink was in a dirty glass. Paid €51, everything from another table was put on our receipt (€15+!) Lucky I asked for a receipt. 1 lady who ran fast and at least did her best, the other staff was, to put it mildly, not exactly helpful.

As a non-klazienavener you don't really go to De Witte Olifant, I actually only go there if I have an errand to do there. Then I'll drink a cup of coffee or eat a sandwich (both fine by the way!). As a restaurant I don't really know it that well and tonight we were in Klazienaveen, again on errands, and we decided to eat here. What a nice surprise and now certainly a reason for us to travel to Klazienaveen just for De Witte Olifant. Friendly service, good wine and the food was really great. No shrink-flation, just decent portions that will keep you fed up. Quality was very good and the fries were well done and nice and hot (I hate fries that are not quite done). Definitely recommended to go, even if you have nothing to do in Klazienaveen

Had a great time here during and after a ride on the e-chopper. Nice, attentive and very smooth service. Unlike my predecessor in the reviews, 3 of us ate a tender steak and 1 man a thick hamburger and we were politely asked about the preparation. The menu is excellent, something for everyone. A cozy place to eat and drink without pretensions. Gluten intolerance was also taken into account. Very good! Will definitely come again.

I can understand that the standards are a bit low if there is little choice within Klazienaveen, but the staff can take a gastronomy course. An example: When ordering a steak, the next question should be how you want the steak. In addition, the steak that was served was extremely tough. The menu is also quite standard with basically only meat dishes. Then we are asked repeatedly whether we have finished eating while there are clearly still people eating. Hopefully something will be done with it because it is just a shame that people in Klazienaveen have to make do with this if they want to eat something outside.

I ate delicious chicken soup. Big full bowl. There was enough chicken that was very tender and not over cooked. Very tasteful. Price 6 euros. Very Very good double expresso. And both nice and hot. And that's exactly as it should be. I cannot yet form an opinion about other dishes, etc. However, from a lot of experience, if the soup is tasty and made with care, that is an excellent indication.

After the restaurant was taken over, the overall picture has become 10x better. Value for your money. Good food, plenty of it (there was quite a shortage of that) and friendly, non-pushy service. After a number of disappointing visits, it is now highly recommended. Something for everyone and the quality is at a very respectable level. Not only the food, but also the choice of fine beers is worth mentioning.

We had to wait a very long time for our lunch dish and when it was served after more than 45 minutes, the meatball was lukewarm and the egg was half raw. The meatball also contained cloves (seriously?), something that is not mentioned on the menu. Communication with the service could be better, the ladies are friendly and polite. When we first ask where our dish is, they look and say it's coming. After 10 minutes I asked again, she went to check but didn't respond anymore. Not worth repeating, although there is nothing wrong with the ambiance, which is a shame.

It's nice that there are some vegan options. The mushroom roll is quite unique and delicious for once. Especially in Klazienaveen there are few other options (none for vegan).
