The food was delicious. Very good, efficient service. I enjoyed my meal outside, and it's a cozy little terrace with a great atmosphere. I can't comment on the interior yet.

We've been coming to Terschelling for years, but this was our first time dining at De Zee. Highly recommended for a cozy and delicious dinner! You can choose a three-course meal from a weekly changing menu, featuring delicious, flavorful dishes made with fresh, pure ingredients and an Italian touch! Every dish was delicious! The service and atmosphere were also very pleasant! We'll definitely be back!

Top restaurant! Small, cozy, perfect service by an enthusiastic lady and delicious food for a very reasonable price. Not too much choice, doable for the chef, and enough variation. Also in terms of wines, not too much choice but something for everyone's taste and in different price ranges. We will definitely come back!

A pearl on West Terschelling. DE ZEE has a weekly changing menu. Where else can you find that? Our group of 6 people sat in a cozy spot on a Friday evening in this small-scale, intimate restaurant. We had 3 of the 4 entrées to choose from: a Carne crudo with arugula and parmesan cheese, a potato salad with white asparagus and smoked eel, and one vegetarian dish: Salad of roasted beets with young Terschelling sheep's cheese from the farm "Halfweg". As a main course, 3x DE ZEE's signature: delicious Sea Bass with fennel and vine tomatoes. We had the Beef Bavette twice with red wine gravy, which included tasty green asparagus. One person enjoyed the roasted cauliflower with butter beans and gremolata. A top Vega dish! We also had Roseval potatoes from the Italian wood oven, where a lot is prepared. The six of us unanimously opted for the same dessert: Panna Cotta with fresh strawberries. Besides the fact that the food was top notch and personal wishes were listened to - for example, the standard 'medium rare' Bavette was cooked a little extra - the ambiance is great. Very friendly and attentive girls at the counter. Team DE ZEE: On behalf of the Jager family, thank you for the pleasant welcome and if I come to Terschelling again, I will definitely want to eat at DE ZEE again!

Unfriendly, sorry that we asked for something simple for a child, bavette rear was fried and almost overcooked, limp so-called potato “frites”. Oh yes, the mayo was tasty. Not recommended.

Very tasty meal. Many dining options in West are cafes. Nothing wrong with that, but this one stands out. If only because they have a full vegetarian menu. The wood oven gives just a little bit of wood smoke flavor, without the exaggerated barbecue taste that I associated with it. Just subtly present. And a very subtle white wine. We will definitely go here again

September 20, 2024 our beautiful Terschelling week ended again with a truly delicious fish dinner with divine wines, and of course that friendly and perfect service again. The whole party is also quite affordable. The sea has understood! Over and over again. So again those 5 stars! See you again September 14, 2023 Our week in Terschelling ended sublimely again at De Zee at table 5. Beautiful place with perfect and very pleasant and flexible service, very real food and excellent wines. And also affordable. So it really is possible! We would love to come back here again.

In this small restaurant, where we were unfortunately only able to eat once because it was full every day, we had a really fantastic meal. Unexpected combinations, Mediterranean herbs, to enjoy!

Wonderfull service and very child-friendly. The staff was so kind to us and our child, even though he was being very fussy. They did everything to accommodate us as best as possible and were very understanding.

Where you used to eat stone oven pizzas here, you now have a 3-course menu to choose from. Pure flavors, very tasty. You taste the quality. And yet not 5 stars, because the service was not very responsive (long wait for wine, coffee was already available for dessert, etc.). But the portions were also small and if you wanted potatoes you had to pay extra for them. I consider that part of a main course. We spent 55 euros per person including 2 wines per person and coffee.

Have eaten here before and previously had a good experience. However, not this time. There was a vegetarian and there was only 1 starter for him. Asked if a dish could be adjusted, but this was not possible. In the end we were 'lucky' because they found an eggplant. Service was not attentive or friendly. There are other restaurants on the island that I would rather go to, after this experience.

The food itself was fine, this restaurant does not pretend to be more than it is, but a glass of white wine was not drinkable (astringent, probably from a bottle that had been open for more than a day or had not been stored properly). I barely touched it and returned to the kitchen with this comment, but I received no further questions from the service about it. The glass was simply full on the bill. Would have suggested another glass of white wine.

Were here last year and were super satisfied. I've been back now and I can't describe the kitchen as anything other than creative and top notch. We think the food is excellent, the price and quality are great. Service also friendly, nothing to complain about. Absolutely recommended, would love to go back next time.

Here the food is cooked deliciously and with a certain degree of creativity with good ingredients so that you will want to come back, very different from many restaurants on Terschelling that focus on serving many tourists quickly. The place is very small and cozy. Unfortunately the acoustics are terrible, the guests were shouting at each other, tiring, only when a number of tables emptied were we able to enjoy the homely atmosphere. Service is top notch, knows all the details of the food and wine on the menu.

"Credit Card do we not accept!" Excuse me... what a disappointment for a restaurant like this. Furthermore the service is bit in a hurry and not really customer focused. The food is really good. And "your jacket is not allowed on the chair". The way the staff is acting during the welcome is not customer friendly and far to direct. All with all some nice room for improvement!

Everything perfect, the hospitality, the food, the atmosphere. Tasty, prepared with care and slightly different from the usual preparations! AWESOME! The only thing I have a problem with is allowing wet dogs in a small space. I am a dog lover, but with my food I quickly find it unhygienic and with rainy weather in this otherwise pleasant living room setting, you can smell it right away and it makes me want to eat/stick around longer. Sorry, it probably sounds very inhospitable to dog owners and I don't really know where to set the boundary, but I wanted to mention it.

We booked a table here on appreciated advice... while the rain beats against the windows outside, we enter a small but cozy restaurant and receive the warmest welcome, even if it were a living room. A Mediterranean-feeling menu full of local ingredients... “honest and pure” comes to mind. After a glass of bubbles we were served a delicious antipasto of meats as before, of course, while enjoying a nice bottle of wine... followed by the fish. I had fish in mind that day: Skrei prepared with white beans and a light sauce/salsa...a delicious preparation! I forgot to ask if this was also prepared in the wood oven... I think so. Followed by a delicious desert with an espresso to finish. Definitely recommended to visit!

The food was worse than average and the service was unpleasant, we waited 20 minutes for a drink for about an hour in a half-empty restaurant.

Delicious food in De Zee. Below is my previous review. The dishes were different this time, but the scope of this review has not changed. The sea bass and skrei (fish of the day) are simple but very well prepared. The two white house wines are also simple, that should be a bit more exciting. The service is smooth and polite, and gives us time to enjoy the food. We ate a starter, main course and dessert for about €45 per person, including drinks.

Twee jaar geleden voor het eerst naar toe gegaan, omdat mijn vriend zei dat daar de beste pizza's ooit waren. En geen woord van gelogen. Ik heb de beste pizza's ooit gegeten bij restaurant de Zee. Maar helaas, onlangs weer geweest en de pizza's stonden niet standaard op de menukaart!! Ik was ontzettend teleurgesteld, want eerlijk waar ik heb mij twee jaar lang voorgehouden om terug te gaan voor de beste pizza ooit. Het andere eten was lekker, maar de ervaring van de pizza is niet te overtreffen met het andere eten. Dus alsjeblieft restaurant de Zee, zet de pizza's standaard op de menukaart en dan zullen jullie beroemd worden door jullie pizza's; de beste van de hele wereld. Ps. Ik begreep van de bediening dat de pizza's vooral in de zomerperiode is en soms een pizzadag tijdens de andere periodes. Helemaal weg zijn ze dus niet.

Heerlijk gegeten, puur bereid, geen frutsels, zalige smaak!

Kleines Restaurant mit mehreren Deckenventllatoren, dadurch sehr zugig. Nach mehrfacher Bitte wurde der Venti über uns ausgeschaltet. Service freundlich, sehr kleine Karte - 2 Fisch-, 2 Fleisch-, 2 Veggi-Gerichte. Vorspeise des Tages war Bruschetta mit Gambas und Salsa, das war soweit gut. Die Vorspeise meines Mannes war Baguette mit Olivenöl und Salz - nicht zu empfehlen, da das Olivenöl ranzig und ungenießbar war, quasi hatte er also trockenes Brot. Als Hauptspeise hatten wir Iberico und den Fisch des Tages, Rotbarbenfilet mit Senfsauce. Dazu Rosmarinkartoffeln mit Aioli. Der Fisch war frisch, gut gebraten, aber kaum gewürzt, die Kartoffeln laff, trocken und kaum mit Rosmarin oder Butter in Kontakt gekommen. Mit der Aioli zusammen ok. Die Senfsauce war eben als solche erkennbar. Würzen kann der Koch leider nicht, geschmacklich war das recht nichtssagend. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht stimmig. Leider kann ich mich also den guten Bewertungen hier nicht anschließen, es war ok, aber mehr auch nicht.

Heel klein maar enorm sfeervol restaurantje. Zeer toegankelijke sfeer en subliem eten. Heel vriendelijke bediening die echt even de tijd voor je neemt. Geen standaard wijnen op de kaart maar zeker goede! Hond mocht mee ondanks de kleine ruimte. Terschelling houdt van honden. ❤️

Gezellig restaurant met vriendelijke bediening en heerlijk eten. Ook prima voor kinderen, qua menu en aandacht.

Spontaan gereserveerd toen we s’middags langs het veelbelovende stoepbord liepen. Heeft geresulteerd in een topavond. Echt lekker eten uit de houtoven geserveerd door superleuke mensen die er met veel plezier werken. Houd ruimte voor de panna cotta of chocolade mouse en vul de kiertjes met de zelfgemaakte (sinaasappel)limoncello. We komen terug. Groetjes Loes & Co.

Mijn vegetarische hoofdgerecht was totaal wat ik niet verwachte. Te gaar en geen lekkere crunch. Voorgerechten waren lekker en de wijn prima. De oplossing van personeel was niet goed. We werden ‘beschuldigd’ dat onze smaak niet goed was. Nou de oplossing van de bediening (namelijk geen) ook niet.

Top restaurant, fijne bediening en heerlijk eten.

Fijn restaurant! Eten was heerlijk, maar vooral de sfeer en de gastvrijheid heeft ons positief verrast. Er werd voor onze dreumes een klein gerecht gemaakt van vis en groenten en er werd ook aandacht aan hem besteed, ondanks dat hij af en toe een driftbui had door zijn vermoeidheid. De gastvrouwen waren echt top en het eten van super kwaliteit. Een echte aanrader!

"Petit" restaurant du centre à ne pas manquer! Étant assez exigeant sur la qualité des vins et des plats, nous avons été très bien conseillé sur le vin pour accompagner nos entrées et le plat (succulent bar). On y retournera 😉

Klein authentiek huiskamer restaurant, Reserveren vereist. Lekker eenvoudig eten van een kleine kaart met een paar onverwachte leuke vegetarische opties. Het personeel was grotendeels vriendelijk. Echt heel fijn dat er werd meegedacht voor de eter met gluten allergie. Helaas begreep één van de gastvrouwen ons een paar keer verkeerd waardoor ons etentje een wat vervelende bijsmaak kreeg. "Even wachten, ik kan niet álles tegelijk!" op een snibbige toon, is écht not done (zeg liever: één ogenblik, ik kom zo bij u). Toen we even later vriendelijk vroegen of dezelfde dame vrij was (om iets te vragen) werd dit verontwaardigd opgevat als "vrij zijn" als in "gestopt met werken". Tijdens het misverstand uitleggen werden we nógmaals verkeerd begrepen én afgekapt met een snauw. Dan laat je het als gast maar zitten. Jammer en onnodig om zó fel te reageren. Laten we er maar vanuit gaan dat dit niet bij alle gasten gebeurt. De kabeljauw heeft er gelukkig niet minder om gesmaakt - complimenten aan de kok (perfecte garing, krokant huidje). Ook de andere gerechten waren gewoon goed bereid. Verder een aantal mooie wijnen op de kaart waarvan een paar per glas te bestellen. Tenslotte: de spoom met limoncello was top, evenals de chocolademousse!

Al jaren een vast adres wanneer we op Terschelling zijn. Altijd gegarandeerd heerlijk eten en goede wijn. De Zee heeft een kleine kaart met pure gerechten die deels uit de houtoven komen. De Limoncello uit eigen keuken is ook een aanrader. Complimenten voor Sjoerd en zijn team!

Authentiek, kleinschalig, reserveren vereist. Lekker simpel eten, vriendelijk personeel.
