I had the food delivered to my home. It arrived right on time, was delicious, and the portions were generous.

I ordered chicken and lamb tikka masala for the first time this week. It was truly excellent, compliments to the chef! The price-quality ratio is excellent. There was plenty of meat, and the portion was generous. And the quality of the food is also very good. Nothing to complain about, simply worth 5 stars.

The food was delicious and well-seasoned. The service was disappointing. It took ages to get our food. The tables were dirty, sticky, and stained. They weren't even wiped down when coffee spilled on them. The table wasn't cleaned properly between the main course and coffee either. The dirty napkins were left behind.

Very good food. Good price, dishes are prepared in real time, which means a long wait. But everything is perfectly prepared. Sometimes, milder dishes are still hot. But that's no problem; a milder, hotter dish (of the same kind) comes out of the kitchen within two minutes.

We ate there for Christmas dinner this year, as we just moved into town. It was so delicious. I wanted to keep eating but was too full. Everyone loved their food.

Ate here for the first time today. The food is delicious! Generous portions and affordable. Staff very friendly and a pleasant atmosphere. The employee asked if I wanted to take what food I had left with me. When I got home I saw that I had been given more rice and chicken than I had left. How great is that! Definitely recommended!

Tonight at Diwali we had 1 x starter Boti Kebab and 2 x main courses Lamb Masala. The taste of all three meals was good, but the meat was hard to chew, so hard and chewy! Informed the waitress and her response was "will pass it on to the kitchen".... 🤔 No further presentation was received to make up for it unfortunately.

Good place for good prepared food. For me the amount of vegetables is not what I expected. But, the food is very good prepared, and the Diwali mixed tandooriis a tip to take. The Meat is wonderful grilled and very delicious. I have ordered multiple times, mostly for delivery, a few times for take out and 2 times I have eaten in the restaurant itself. The service is good, not top level, but that is okay. All the food is made fresh and I like that. Recommended: biryani Rice dishes, tandoori dishes, lamb tikka masala, chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Warning for those who can't eat spicy food: some dishes are spicy, if you do not eat spicy food, be careful. For those who do eat spicy food: you will certainly enjoy it!!!

We were there for dinner today (June 24) with three people and unfortunately we were the only guests. We ate excellently and were served very friendly and courteously. We had three different types of tandoori, all of which were very filling and served with rice and a kind of vegetable porridge. All three of us were so full that we couldn't manage any more dessert. We would love to come back.*****

The momos were rather bland. The main courses were alright. We were served some papadums with 3 "chutneys", one of which was ketchup and another was store-bought chili sauce. They do have various vegetarian options that can be made vegan, as claimed by the menu. All-in-all not terrible; not great.

Friendly welcome, delicious hard type of tortillas / papadums with delicious dips, of which the mint sauce was very tasty, then the meat momos were delicious! , butter chicken and chicken marsala, fresh and buttery soft. We received the ordered garlic bread with it, in short, definitely worth repeating.

My Birthday on March 14th. On this date I have been celebrating my birthday for 65 years, that day I get to find out something that we don't know at home. This time the Diwali restaurant was on the Koemarkt (booked via Reserveren.nl) within walking distance of our house. My wife and I eat vegetarian and could choose from different dishes. We are not familiar with Indian cuisine, but we chose this restaurant because of the positive reviews from the past year. It was the vegetarian 4-course menu, which is permanently on the menu. When asked mild, spicy or hot, we chose mild and that was perfect for us. The Lassie Mango got a 10 from us, so delicious! Our son and his girlfriend chose a chicken dish (also the mild version) and were also very satisfied! The interior gave us a calm, atmospheric feeling. There was music playing softly in the background, which we found very pleasant. The young lady who served us speaks good English, has a very friendly service style and regularly stopped by to ensure everything was to our liking. Afterwards I talked to the people about our first experience at Diwali. It is a small team, which they summarize as 'family and friends'. A very nice end to my birthday for us. All I can say is: go eat there and be surprised!

Best chicken tikka masala ever! Really our favorite...with naan bread and cheese! The other dishes are also delicious, such as the butter chicken or the prawn masala and a few more! Diwali is our favorite of all restaurants in Purmerend 👍❤

The dinner experience in this restaurant was special, as the staff was courteous, the food was delicious, and the seating in the restaurant was comfortable. We tried the vegetable samosa and it was delicious, as well as the chicken biryani and the mutton karahi meat saloona. The restaurant's prices were fair compared to other Indian restaurants and the quality of the food. I recommend trying the restaurant and, God willing, I will visit again.

Don't be misled by the perhaps austere appearance of the establishment, you can really enjoy delicious food here! I would like to give 9 stars, it's so tasty. The tandoori chicken is highly recommended and the specialties such as chow-mien and momos are so good, you will come back for them.

Worthless, the lady serving is certainly a nice lady but not at all suitable for the catering industry. If she had paid a little attention, the thank you bill would have certainly doubled. The food was way too spicy even though we ordered mild. Food was sent back and then put back on the table in a very sweet way. The delicious taste of Indian cuisine was completely lost. Very unfortunate because Purmerend could use a good vegan/vegetarian kitchen.

Ordered Momos, Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Madras. It was a take away order. Although Momos were not up to the mark (could also be because it was a take away - Momos don't travel that well), the two curries were really nice. Generous portions and lots of chicken pieces and the taste was pretty good too. I'd definitely return.

Update 10/01/23: An answer would be so professional. How does Diwali make the experience good? Should one make themselves known or remain anonymous? I read some bad experiences and the standard answer returns repeatedly, but what exactly does this mean? You ask to give the restaurant another chance and to give the dishes, experience, service, etc. a second chance and to adjust the review. For the record, I have not eaten with you, but I know what real Indian should taste like and do not rely on a Dutch review. No hard feelings to Dutchies. I'm trying to get my bearings and I'm wondering what this actually means? After all, you can only spend money once and Indian cuisine is pricey in the Netherlands, artificial or not. In India the dishes cost on average 1/5th of our prices. greeting, Fred

We had a very tasty meal of the lamb rogan josh & chicken karahi, definitely recommended! Naan is also a must. The food is kept nice and warm with tea lights - so you can enjoy it at your leisure. Outside the tables are a bit on the tight side for two people, but that's not a big problem. Overall: Very tasty food & incredibly friendly service. However, the inside of the restaurant was still a bit empty when we were there, but that will happen.

Picked it up here, thought differently and saw some pretty good reviews. Food was okay, but mild is still a bit too spicy for me here at Diwali. They didn't give enough papadums, I ordered 2 x 2 and only got 3, but their papadums were very tasty. Butter chicken was a bit on the sweet side, I don't like it myself, unfortunately there was a very long hair in my rice. Furthermore, the naan was very bad, I must say, it was tough... hard... tasteless, too bad. We don't order here anymore.

We'll be back here! The food was really delicious, the service very friendly. The only downside we could think of is that we stepped inside and the room was sterile and white. Could use more color and atmosphere. But this restaurant has so much potential!

We ordered a four-course menu through an online promotion. Untrained staff, who also turned out to be very clumsy, and the food.... Madurodam portions and therefore left hungry. Apparently they don't understand that if they want to attract new customers with a promotion, you shouldn't reduce the portions and then charge 8 euros because you don't take chicken but lamb. It was a soup bowl with a lot of sauce and hardly any meat. The text describing the dish made you think you were going to enjoy it. But when even the table next to us shouted... 'To McDonalds next'... We knew... Never going back. No retake.

The service was extremely disappointing and on top of that all the main curries were tasteless and tasted like base curry wad same for all the curries and they just added chicken or paneer in that. Also gulab jamun was also veey bad in taste and also not fresh.

Overall experience was pathetic. We have tried many dishes. Non of the dishes were up to the mark. All the dishes tasted the same with no salt. Starter platter was over burnt. Only thing that was good was the Momo’s. No attention was given to the outside tables. We had to walk to the counter to ask for the waiter to come. I would request visitor to be more direct and promptly ask for the service you deserve. I believe criticism is a very valuable feedback for any business owner especially when there is only one Indian restaurant in town!!!

New addition in Purmerend. Finally a nice and tasty restaurant again. We were welcomed with papadums on the house. Waiter is very service minded. Dishes are all in tip-top condition and taste. Starter and main course were served hot. The chicken madras was just the right portion with long grain rice. The garlic naan was also very tasty. Same goes for the Biryani and Paneer starter. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the kheer, which is a shame. This was not available. The interior could be a bit more playful. It's a bit too white/sterile now. Too bad they don't deliver, but this allows them to focus on a cozy restaurant on the cow market.

We made a reservation through Regio Deal and we received a “stripped down” menu. Ordered extra Raita, there was no cucumber in it. No fresh herbs seen. Also received a starter with lamb, which was supposed to be chicken according to the menu. A disappointment and what a shame. The waiter was nice.
