A nice place with several seating areas, but also a must-see for expats and students working there on laptops. The menu sounds delicious, but the reality is a bit sparse. Pulled chicken toast was essentially a grilled cheese sandwich with some chicken, a bowl of sauce, and a bowl of salad for over €12. The vegetable toast was okay. The lemonades were bland (a little less ice and more syrup would have helped), and the lattes turned out to be a fixed mix (...) and too sweet. I returned mine and, after some persuasion, was given an alternative. I think the prices are quite high for what you get. All in all, it's mainly fun if you want to have a somewhat hip "blah blah" with your fellow students while enjoying an overpriced coffee. Tip for the friendly staff: send students who don't order anything home.

My favorite place to read or study. The atmosphere is always great, and everyone who comes in is quiet, so there's no disturbance. Sometimes you do have to be a bit early because it gets busy.

Food and coffee is amazing at this cafe, love coming here to work. But, the problem is one staff member. I’ve noticed every time I’ve come there is that she consumes the food she is making. Once I purchased through the QR code at my table but the order didn’t go through, I went to the counter to explain and she was making a sandwich and eating the ingredients she was putting into it. That day, I was sitting near the counter and I noticed several times after that that she was eating the food she was making. The thing that truly put me off was when she was putting away all the used plates and bowls, she saw leftover food in them and ate them with her bare hands. It’s fine to take a bite or two at work but eating someone’s leftovers is unacceptable. I saw her lick the remaining yogurt from someone’s yogurt bowl and then go back to preparing food for customers. This triggers overall hygiene of food preparation. I think the cafe should talk to her about this and tell her not to do that. I don’t want someone to be licking other people’s leftover and then make my food with the same hands. I’ve gone back to that cafe several times and I’ve noticed similar patterns each time. This has to be addressed honestly.

I often come here for work. Excellent coffee, good food, and friendly staff. There's really only one thing I'd like to improve on. When I come, I often spend the entire morning or afternoon there. I order multiple times, because I think that's the right thing to do. However, sometimes I can't be seated. That might be bad luck, but what makes it a shame is that because I'm here often, I often see customers who don't order at all or even bring their own food. It would be nice if people were more aware of this; that would feel more fair to customers who do want to order and pay. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied and I recommend it to everyone.

We walked in with our stroller and no one gave us a hard time; they even helped us make room. That kind of friendliness really makes a difference. The coffee was, as always, reliably good, with a nice layer of foam and the right temperature. The apple pie also tasted fresh and full of cinnamon. The café felt peaceful, even as it got busier. Tables were well-spaced, and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff kept smiling and attentive to the little things. This is what hospitality should be like—simple, yet genuine.

I am here quite often. Overall, it's a very nice place. Great food, I would say one of the best coffee in the neighborhood. Only one thing can be better. I hope they will be more strict to people who don't order anything and take a place while using electricity. And sometimes, which happens a lot less frequently but there are weirdos making nuisance with other customers. I once even saw a staff getting harassed.

I liked the idea of ​​the place and the interior. From what could be improved: the music did not work and the atmosphere of the place was scary. I even asked to turn on the music, but the equipment did not work. And also the prices for coffee are a bit too high. The minimum price for a cappuccino is 4.3€

It's packed with students who open their laptops, order coffee, and then sit there all afternoon. We waited 20 minutes for coffee, which we received in a paper cup because they were out of glasses. I ordered a latte with oat milk, and when we received it, it was filled with regular milk. The staff was quite friendly, and thankfully, the coffee tasted good. But this was the last time I'll be back.

I come here often, and I love it. Delicious coffee, nice atmosphere, ideal location. Only the pastries are more expensive than they're really worth to me. You can often find a better pastry elsewhere for less. But that shouldn't really matter, since everything else is perfect. A while back, I accidentally got a drink with a dirty glass. People make mistakes, and I felt a bit grossed out because, well, who finds it so refreshing to drink from such a dirty glass? When I pointed this out at the counter, the ladies were completely upset that they hadn't noticed, and I was given a new drink and a voucher for a free drink of my choice (the small option) with my next order. I've been coming here for years and still consider this a gem in Enschede. As a student, you even get a discount with your student card! Which, of course, I, as a student, really appreciate. The lunch menu has recently been updated: baguettes have been replaced by slices of bread....🙁 Everything now has a sort of toasted sandwich look, which has been at the expense of taste.

We had a fantastic meal at the café. The breakfast was delicious; we really liked the egg roll. The yogurt was quite sweet due to the red fruit sauce, which we didn't like. The coffee and orange juice were also very tasty. You could choose your breakfast: whether you wanted an egg or a pancake. You could also choose tea, coffee, or cappuccino, as well as ham and/or cheese on your bread. Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for breakfast, probably 20-30 minutes. We had this breakfast because of the discounted deal we booked, and we would go back.

Today we wanted to order three breakfast platters and were told they were out of croissants (at 11:00 am). When we asked what the alternative was, they said nothing. So we had to pay almost 20 euros per platter, but no croissant... Unfortunately, it was peanut butter, which was a real shame, so we ate elsewhere.

A very good place to work, i find the food ok but very expensive .

I think it's fine to pay a lot for drinks, toasted sandwiches etc. but I find it strange that the staff doesn't clear the tables, but just leaves them full of junk, in the whole de-café. There is also no supervision, you are really left to yourself.

As always, it's great here: friendly staff, a nice atmosphere with everyone and delicious coffee. However, I would like to give one point of feedback. Not to complain, but because I think it's important to mention: it's unfortunately often not completely clean. Tables often remain messy, which is probably because there is no place to put away trays - a cleaning trolley would already help. As a result, many trays end up on the counter at the side, which is only cleared occasionally. Also when ordering, the hygiene behind the bar is a bit disappointing. Banana peels, crumbs and a messy worktop do not give a fresh impression. And if you look towards the back area, you can also see quite a bit of dirt on the floor and walls. I'm not saying this to be negative, on the contrary: I like coming here and see how hard people work. That's exactly why I hope this feedback helps to make it even better.

The cappuccino is terrible, undrinkable, the photos show a good espresso coffee machine, but in reality there are machines with a terrible parody of coffee.

Half of the ingredients for the sandwiches were gone. This was on a Saturday afternoon during lunch. Also with the coffee part of the menu was not available, we were only told this after the order was placed (twice separately). The toasted sandwich was fine, but not good enough to justify the price.

Modern coffee shop with long opening hours. Unfortunately, the taste of the coffee is no longer what it used to be. When ordering decaf beans, you get coffee from a student room coffee maker. Also often understaffed staff. Should be better in my opinion? Otherwise a nice space to work.

A very spacious cafe. And mostly busy because a lot of students work there. It used to be difficult to find a table, but ever since students have to pay a little to study there for hours, it is less often totally full. Coffee and knowledge of the staff is DE standards. The only reason that I do not rate the service at 5 is that you standard have to wait for your order at the counter. Only if you order online they bring it to your table.

I ordered just coffee, I like be here, it’s a nice place specially for people who work online or just like calm atmosphere. The big downside today is that there is a sick girl working at the cash register, she was serving my coffee and coughing. It’s not normal!! 😐😑

i was coming to this cafe consistently for weeks and was generally satisfied. occasionally when i would order a large drink they would give me a medium which was strange. however my last 2 encounters have been extremely disappointing and i will not be going again. my first bad interaction was when i ordered a large matcha (as it was the only beverage that i had been ordering for weeks and i was very satisfied with it) however they gave me an iced latte. this is quite strange as i only ever order a matcha and would never order a latte as i have a histamine to it. when i told this to the lady that took my order, she said it wouldn’t have been possible for me to order a matcha as they don’t sell it and that i had ordered a latte. this is quite strange as it was one of the only items that i would order and i haven’t ordered a latte in the last 2 years since i found out that i had a histamine to it. nonetheless i took my latte and didn’t come back for a while. i went again today as i was informed that their matcha had come back. when i ordered my large iced matcha for takeaway they gave me a medium matcha that wasn’t take away. when i told them this they just put my medium matcha into a large size take away cup put some extra ice and milk into it. the matcha doesn’t taste like a matcha and instead tastes like plain milk. for the price i am paying for this product, it is extremely disappointing.

Coffee was fine. Not the best but not the worst either. I didn't think the service was nice. Our table wasn't even cleared after the previous customers and it wasn't even busy inside. Moreover, I thought the cafe had a kind of mixed coffee and toilet smell 🥲not very nice if you want to drink a cup of coffee. The atmosphere felt quite cold. Not cozy and mainly many working people with laptops present. Which is not bad, but feels less cozy to me. Too bad. I won't come here again.

Nice tent, nicely decorated. Wasn't very busy and unfortunately the empty tables were not cleared. For example, the customer asked for a cloth so she could wipe the table herself😅. And another customer is now clearing and cleaning a table herself so she can sit. Staff seems quite young and may lack a manager.

The atmosphere is cozy, but you are not greeted when you enter or when you leave. The coffee was fine, but the sandwiches are all pre-packed when they are 'prepared'. The caprese sandwich was soggy and soft, the toppings were not fresh and the ingredients were of poor quality. It's a shame when you see that you pay the same as at a lunchroom where they make fresh sandwiches.

I really enjoy working here. Coffee also perfect and staff really friendly. All compliments. But the prices really aren't up to par. So when my social deal strip card runs out, I can no longer go here. A small piece of cheesecake for €5.35....that's almost €65 per cake. We fully understand the increasing purchasing and price of the property, but you should not want to pass this on. And I'm sure that if you offer cheaper, you will sell (much!) more. I go a step further for food.

Food is fine, but nothing special. The atmosphere is that of an open-plan office, especially with all the working students/expats. Offer for lunch is very limited and price/quality is dramatic. I think 5 euros is a lot for a medium coffee, DE is not that special. At 10 euros or more for a sandwich, it is quite expensive for nothing special. Conclusion: okay place to sit for a while, but there are much better places in Enschede for that price

Fine, but certainly not a lunch café. Nicely decorated, but order via QR and pick up yourself. So “service” by definition does not exist here. Drinks are excellent. Delicious fresh iced tea and coffee specials are great! Definitely recommended for that. Sandwiches are unfortunately substandard for the price. Basically just fine, but very simple sandwiches and toasties. Unfortunately they charge serious prices for station/supermarket ready-made quality food. For the same money you can eat much better at a real restaurant a little further away. With real service and handling, for the same price!

Just popped in for a takeaway coffee this time. On other visits we've had excellent breakfasts. Disappointed this time. On ordering large coffees to go, we expected the discount advertised outside...I guess there was small print. The large cappuccino seemed to be three espressos squeezed into a relatively small cup... Resulting in an overly powerful flavour.

Every time we come there is virtually no room and the tables are occupied by students / working people. It is also very dirty and dirty, especially along the walls and in the corners. Not to mention the carpet. Even if you ask for an extra macaroon with your drink, you are rudely told that you only have 1 drink, so 1 cookie. They then give young people they know a whole coffee cup with cookies, they call it double standards. The positive thing is that they have the tastiest Matcha latte in Enschede. Please ensure that it becomes a bit cleaner at Douwe Egberts Enschede!

Unfortunately, things are slowly deteriorating. The previously chosen route of sitting there, which also includes some use (students...), has unfortunately been abandoned, so it is not possible for normal passers-by to have a cup of coffee at some times. Shame.

Unfortunately only one star because I find it cheeky that we were told that they had no more glasses and our drinks were made for us to go, even though we had a table. My husband insisted on a glass. Unfortunately we didn't like the service here and for the high price, that's a disgrace.

Staff friendly, products delicious. However: every time I come there is no table available! There is 1 student working at each table (2-4 people). And when they sit down together to chat, the table remains occupied with a coat, laptop, empty glass........ I won't be coming here again, completely done with it. I feel sorry for myself........

This visit was my first. It was unfortunate that they seemed to be short staffed. After a little bit of miscommunication with our order, we sat down in a beautiful setting. My Cappuccino Amarino was divine. The whipped cream on both drinks was absolutely amazing. I tried the Roasted Veggie Broodje, which was not very tasty, but my friend got the Caprese Baguette, which was very good. We will be back to give it another go

At the Douwe Egberts cafe I expected it to be a bit cozy and friendly. A cold QR code, pay in advance. There is no indication that you have to go and get your own sugar and milk somewhere. Because our table still had to be cleared, our tray with coffee was not placed near us but at a table further away. The table was cleared and the tray remained at the other table. Not far, but still. 3 small broken pieces of macaroons for 2 people. The coffee was good. (Not cheap for such a service)

Coffee was average and 5,5€ for a medium cappuccino. The place looks as nice as the next cafe. They charge 1.8€ per hour to work on your laptop. Or you have to keep on buying drinks/food per hour.

A nice place to have a nice coffee with home-made delicacies. The atmosphere inside is very homely, which makes you immediately feel at ease. If you are looking for a place to study or work, this place is suitable.

This café is an excellent spot for reading, catching up with friends, enjoying a coffee or a snack, or simply taking a break from your daily routine. While it may not be the most affordable place in Enschede, the prices are fair given the high quality of service and the cozy, peaceful atmosphere it offers.

The atmosphere is good, and for €1.80 per hour you can study or work there! Unfortunately, the “iced latte machiato” was not drinkable, we even left it! They offered a new one but then you would get +- the same “watery mess”. However, the handling was good and the service was above average.

My favorite is the appeltaart! Yesterday I ordered ice coffee and it was not pretty good, so, I don't like it. Generally I chose a watermelon juice, really lekker. If you choose a beverage you earn a free hour of their coworking service

I always enjoy coming to the DE, it's wonderful to be able to relax and work. I find the work/study atmosphere very pleasant in combination with the 'normal' visitors. I was shocked a while ago that you had to pay for every hour with a laptop, regardless of whether you had placed an order. I think the right balance has now been found, with an order a free office hour, outside of which you pay extra (1.80 per hour). The extended opening hours are very nice, customer friendly, nice places to sit, quiet background music. The only point might be that the dishes are sometimes left standing for a long time, perhaps make it clearer that people take out their own dishes? Or put up a dishwashing cart? See you soon!

This place is incredibly beautifully decorated and is suitable for both a pleasant appointment and a study/work session. The coffee is (as you would expect from Douwe Egberts) very tasty. However, I'm always a bit shocked at how expensive the food is here. So I mainly come here for the coffee and the atmosphere :) The opening hours are also unique, which sets this café apart.

Best place to have a coffee in Enschede.

This was not my first time at DE café Enschede, but because it was So cozy I came back several times! Had a nice coffee from DE coffee! I had black coffee! And another time I tried the pumpkin chai latte) it was also delicious! But I still want to pass on a special present! This time I am not only here for consuming but for hosting a wedding cake tasting. First I had a conversation with one of the employees and arranged it, and that evening went well! I had a wonderful appointment with my bridal couple. All happy! The employees were super sweet!! The atmosphere was also nice and chill like in my living room 😃 (for me that was the feeling) really felt super nice, a great atmosphere. Beautiful interior design!,, and on behalf of my bridal couple I would like to say that they enjoyed it and felt good. I am a sole proprietorship, specialized in wedding cakes and custom cake making in Enschede. This time I would like to connect with another business owner here in Enschede... that's why I just went back to my locals coffee shop! And I asked if I could host a tasting for my bridal couple there. I ordered drinks that my bridal couple ordered and presented the tasting to my bridal couple. It's win-win success for both parties. their (THE café) and also mine! 😃 bringing blessings to my local! - Be a blessing for your city! - I really recommend THE café!
