Delicious coffee. A tip: consider the cleanliness of the place! The windows are so incredibly dirty, they're just disgusting! They're covering the entire countertop with tea towels to minimize cleaning. That's just not acceptable in a restaurant. It's all part of the job!

In itself a nice place for a cup of coffee. Even if you don't like coffee, there are enough alternatives. Nice place and cozy atmosphere. We didn't get much of the service, since we had ordered via the QR code.

The coffee is okay but pricey. I go there every week for appointments with language coach. I was very disappointed by the food. I have ordered pancakes. The portion was ridiculous for the price. 3 super small pancakes with no fruits only one strawberry for around 7.50€. It was not fresh but heated. It was soggy and lukewarm. I would never order food there ever again.

It is a nice café where you can have a nice cup of coffee. I always have the cheesecake; it is delicious. The atmosphere is a bit hectic. There are a lot of people with a laptop. I think the prices are a bit on the high side.

The Iced Mochacchino was devine, so refreshing and epic. Will get it again!

This review has been adjusted. It has become significantly less. Service from left to right and back again. Was almost staring at the place. Cheesecake was old, coffee was okay, but Flatwite should be stronger. Too bad, in my hometown they apparently don't know how to give the right vibe anymore.

First of all the ladies toilet is so very dirty that you get the idea that it hasn't been cleaned for a while yuck And then I take a sandwich with brie costs 9 euros it was just a small sandwich my colleague had a tosti pieces good buy but much bigger the price and the quality are running. The Dubai chocolate drink was a little sweet because of the Pistachio syrup but the Tiramisu was perfect. Loved the vibe and service.

*Latest update (16/5/25)* Tried the Dubai Chocolate Latte, had a good balance of coffee + chocolate. Order this drink only if you have a sweet tooth please. You will need an exra glass of plain water. The chocolate almond tart was very yums! Most of the patrons were seated outside as it was bright and sunny. We enjoyed some airconditioning inside ******************** This is by far my favourite cafe to go to but, the food quality can be inconsistent. Bread for the sandwich can be a bit too dry. Cakes can really be improved and not be improvised to be somewhat "healthier". I get it that eating healthy is the in thing now but at times we do want to have good authentic original tasting cake. Managers and staffs are very helpful and friendly 🫶

The coffee is good and the workspace is very good. Only the loud music can be a bit disturbing sometimes.

What a crappy tent....absolutely not recommended. Tables full of crockery and if you want to clear away there is nowhere to put it, the cart is packed. A coffee and a Latte machiato are the same according to the staff (huh? Then Espresso and Ristretto are certainly the same) ...... ignorant staff who make it difficult to see if you want to pay in cash. Because when paying in cash, they first have to check whether they can exchange money. Junk behind the counter, toilet not really clean. And there is a thick layer of dust everywhere. Coffee was reasonable, but far too expensive for the experience. Not recommended Well, Douwe Egberts, you are completely missing the point, this is really not a coffee moment (See photo: staff did not know what the Latte or Coffee was wrong. According to them it is both the same, why in different glasses and contents?)

Enjoyed the sun on the terrace, ordered toasted pulled chicken and an iced Americano. Sandwich was okay but the cutlery looked a bit dirty, as did the coffee glass and the coffee was also less tasty than expected from a coffee cafe. Oh yes, and you have to order with a QR code, it's not on the menu so it took me a while to realize that😂.

As a regular (atleast bi-daily) this place scores depending on what day/time you come in. Changing this review once again, there's been a few changes happening. First off, the "laptop free" tables are amazing. It prevents so many tables being occupied by a single student. Second, no outside consumptions is a fun idea, but the 2 students across the table from me are playing an online casino, keeping 2 seats occupied, in the 45 minutes they're here, no consumption has been ordered. To end on a positive note, the baristas are top notch! Always friendly and smiling. With all the changes it's slowly getting there.

Bad experience at De Café Arnhem I am deeply disappointed and shocked by the behavior of a female employee at De Café Arnhem towards my minor daughter, she was treated unjustifiably unfriendly and disrespectful. The behavior of this employee was downright rude, rough and insulting. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially towards a child. I expected much better service from a catering establishment that should be hospitable. This kind of behavior does not belong anywhere, let alone in a café that should respect customers. We will never come back here and I advise others to think carefully before going here.

Actually I've seen several times people consuming nothing and using tables for free wi-fi while they are using their 2k laptops.

Love the special seasonal drinks. However a bit too overpriced. I will only go there on special occasions.

A pleasant space, a two-story building, with lounge areas, stylized for different needs, you can work with a laptop or relax on an armchair. I had a matcha latte, it was sweet. A sufficient selection of desserts, there are gluten-free...

Contrary to other reviewer's experience, I have had a pleasant experience. I bought a coffee and a pastry from social deals. The employee had to be guided a bit by another colleague, but it was not that bad, she was also friendly. Cheesecake is highly recommended! Especially if you buy with the deals 😂 otherwise it is a bit expensive.

Most of our drinks were unfortunately cold. The flat white was not well made, it was more like a coffee latte. Too much milk. Another thing I really hated was the laundry. It was so dirty, there was urine all over the floor, the toilet seats were so very dirty. The trash can for the towels was so full that everything was on the floor. Unfortunately not a good impression was made.

The drinks are okay but pricey. Don't get the food though. I ordered a brie sandwich with pecan nuts. It was only toasted on one side, and had the thinnest single slice of brie on it that I've ever seen. It had approximately a single pecan nut crumbled in it. It just tasted like buttery bread. It was 10 euros. Tasty condiment with it though.

(UPDATE Employees have not gone through the restaurant at all to ask how the guests were doing. You or your Employees are just flat out lying.) There was a big argument between two guests here on Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2025. We were not a party to this. Cups, plates and the like flew around and crockery found its way from the 2nd Floor to the ground floor. A little later the police showed up on the sidewalk. When everything was over, the staff did not ask us how we were doing or anything like that. Quite disappointing after having to witness this unpleasant experience. Unfortunately no warm words but a cold reality. Missed opportunity from DE Arnhem. (UPDATE Employees have not gone through the restaurant at all to ask how the guests were doing. You or your Employees are just flat out lying.)

It's a lovely cafe. What I think is a shame is that the seats are always occupied for a long time. This must be changed. People are not allowed to walk here for more than half an hour! If you want to study, you go to the rosette. You can hang out there all day and use WiFi!!!

Nice coffee cafe. Only the coffee gets cold quickly. It is also sometimes annoying that tables are often occupied with laptop users who sit there for a long period of time, leaving no room for other coffee drinkers. Or that a bag is left at a table so that it appears that someone is sitting there.

I always carry out my remote work there. Such a brilliant place to work or enjoy spending time with friends. A bit busy at times, but you can always find a spot. The quality of coffees and product is responsible as well.

The coffee is way too expensive and you have to wait fifteen minutes for it, while there are 5 people behind the counter. Everyone has their own job, no one makes the coffee!!

I don't get the negative reviews. Sure, it's very commercial (like Starbucks) and the toilets would need better cleaning, but I found the staff friendly and the whole cafe is cosy and gorgeous. Much better than any commercial cafe I seen in the last few months.

Pretty good big brand coffee shop. Clean, presentable, but a little busy to have a relaxed quiet afternoon.

At 9 p.m. we are having a nice coffee, and an employee is vacuuming the whole place. Including the place where we sit, under our chairs and the cloth under our table. When I asked if they were closing yet, the employee said; not that, but this is part of it and is the same song every night. I indicated that I didn't really find this pleasant, but she didn't care and continued happily. Very inappropriate.

I liked everything about this place. It it busy and big, but cozy, great wifi, nice personnel, enjoyed laptoping.

Breakfast board is extensive and granola is highly recommended. Delicious coffee and friendly service.

UPDATE: they seem to have fixed the bathrooms issue, and for a multiple times I’ve visited, there always was a soap bottle, a toilet paper and towels. Amazing! The coffee is still great and the place is very welcoming to chill or work/study. The coffee is good though overpriced, but they seriously need to hire someone to take care of their bathrooms. There’s never a roll of toilet paper, no functioning soap dispenser or soap bottles, and no dry towels. Smells unpleasing too. Great place for studying, but bring your own hygiene products!

Had a nice cup of coffee with my younger sister. It was good coffee, except my sister's latte macchiato had a piece of onion (?) in the coffee foam. For the rest, nice atmosphere, and service at the table using a QR code.

I waited 30 minutes for a Spice latte. They do not have a sequential policy and if you don't ask, they may even forget you. A shame because the latte was very tasty. But the service could be much better.

This café feels more like a place for students than a real coffee shop. Many visitors do not order anything and only take up space for the free WiFi. The staff, who seem to be mainly international, often do not speak the language well, which sometimes makes communication difficult. The coffee is excellent and I really enjoyed it! But there are some points of interest. The glasses are often dirty, and the spoons seem to be washed quickly by hand, raising hygiene concerns. During busy hours, service can be so slow that sometimes coffee orders are not taken. Unfortunately, the general cleanliness of the room also leaves much to be desired and really needs improvement.

Yesterday I visited DE for the third time with my granddaughter. Once again no place to sit and have fun with her. DE looks like an office where employees work all day with their laptops with one coffee or drink. This makes the atmosphere scarred and pretty worthless. A visit to the toilet isn't much better. Toilet paper was missing in both toilets (ladies') and there was also no soap and paper for washing hands. We have decided not to visit DE anymore and will go to Starbucks in the future.

Good coffee and drinks alone can take a while

We were there on a Sunday so perhaps the staff was less good/experienced than on another day, but almost all tables were full of rubbish from previous customers. (nothing was cleared away by the staff, let alone cleaned) There were also a number of employees standing behind the counter/bar/counter chatting with each other while we were waiting to order. They were probably too young and without a good manager, but it was not a good experience. We waited anyway and ended up drinking good coffee (although expensive for a coffee and cappuccino €9.00)

Disinterested staff, more talking to each other than dealing with customers, changing clothes in the middle of the shop, terrace in mess. All chairs higgledy-piggledy, all tables full of dirty dishes. The service on the terrace walks back inside empty-handed. Potential customers move on because of the mess. Never come there again!!!!!

Very nice cafe, spacious and lots of space

It is suitable for studying, gatherings, informal meetings. Nice coffee and good baristas. clean. A bit expensive if you want to set there for a whole day studying with the studying hours cost but it is worthy.

Very nicely decorated and a nice atmosphere. Very relaxed to sit and have a coffee together. Unfortunately, the staff is not always friendly and sometimes a bit curt.

There weren’t many options after 6pm to sit down and indulge in something sweet. We went despite the low reviews. There weren’t many options for dessert which was fine since it is a coffee shop. The ambiance was nice, employees weren’t rude, and also the iced cappuccino was good. The brownie was the only thing I wouldn’t recommend. As for the WiFi, I understand it’s expensive to pay per/hr. However, some coffee shops don’t offer wifi at all. Plus, some customers also tend to overstay if the wifi is free.

Had a nice breakfast on the terrace on September 1. Via social deal, a fun promotion to try. After consultation with DE Arnhem, we were allowed to come the same day, although reservations via SD were no longer possible. It's nice that it is possible until 12 noon. Staff were friendly. Handy system with the buzzer when your order is ready to pick up. Everything tasted delicious and fresh. Was more than sufficient. I didn't finish it all, but I was allowed a container to take the rest with me. Upon request, the tea could also be served in a 2go cup. The toppings were very generous (3 whole slices of cheese on 1 slice of bread and we also had the jam and butter left over). Perhaps a tip against waste: serve less and possibly offer more if you want more on request.

Received my coffee straight away, with whipped cream running off and completely over the tray. Waitress walked away like that. You pay 7 euros for this per coffee. No thanks.

I don't know where the slightly mediocre reviews are coming from, but I liked this place. It's clearly an answer to the Starbucks cafés popping up and their interior and options are great. I had a comfortable sitdown with a nice cup of coffee and a piece of pie. No bad quality and prepared quickly. Find a nice place to sit and enjoy. Remote workers will find some peace here too!

On a 'terrace' where someone was smoking weed, I drank a small mint tea for 4.50 (hot water and weeds) with a powdered dry brownie. Operation could not speak Dutch. No problem mind you, but there wasn't even an attempt to say please. Informative experience. Never going to DE for drinks again. Pinkeltje would be very ashamed.

I ordered iced cappucino but I received a cappucino shake...there were no ice cubes...my cappucino was gone within 5 minutes...otherwise I would have my lukewarm cappucino...what a shame...I expected ice cubes in it my cappucino because it was 30 degrees that day👎

Coffee was tasty and of good temperature. The pastries were also tasty, but expensive. We were asked to take our order at the counter, while other guests were simply served their orders at the table, even though they had placed the same type of order. Very weird.

I wanted to stop and enjoy a hot drink here, but I couldn't because there were a ton of people "camped out" at each and every single table in the entire establishment with laptops. It was 15:30. Many customers looked like they hadn't consumed any product in hours, their tables devoid of everything save their devices. Others shamelessly had laptops with their personal water bottles alongside them! It's a pity because the interior is quite nice. It was a lost sale for the owner. Look. To be clear, I don't have anything against people using their laptops in a cafe. But there are limits: don't prevent paying customers from enjoying product by hogging tables. To the owner: perhaps some policy needs to be put in place and enforced... something that ensures people don't camp for hours with their laptops without ordering something every once in a while.

The times I've been here were pleasant, the chai latte and the vanilla latte were delicious. I think the prices of the food are really too expensive compared to what you get. For example, a regular ham and cheese sandwich, you get two slices of bread with a slice of ham and cheese, not really richly topped or special and you pay 9 euros for this. The atmosphere is simply cozy and friendly. Nicely decorated, open and the times I was here everything looked nice and clean. The people who work there are always very friendly and give a pleasant welcome.

cups are so small, the staff intentionally interrupted us while we were working and annoyed us with their offered services that we do not need!!!! i ordered cheesecake and it was so dry and hard, i do not see that much cheese!!!! not worth the "hype" and the price at all!!!

Today we wanted to start our morning at the Douwe Egberts coffee shop in Arnhem, but unfortunately that was disappointing. Even though we were one of the first guests (around 9:30), there were still empty mugs and plates from the previous day on several tables. The four(?) ladies behind the coffee bar seemed more concerned with their own conversation than with the guests. The atmosphere and appearance of the room are without a doubt beautiful and stylish. We chose a nice spot and ordered via the QR code on the table. To our disappointment, the grilled brie sandwich we wanted to order turned out not to be available. My husband walked to the bar to discuss this and was told that the app is not always up to date and that 'her colleagues' had not purchased properly. This reaction and the whole situation made us decide to go for coffee somewhere else. It was just too much hassle. There are plenty of other places in Arnhem, such as MAM's, where you can sit just as comfortably (and for the same price or cheaper) and get much better service. Douwe Egberts, this can really be improved. We won't be back for a while.
