the cashier's attitude was not okay

I rarely leave bad reviews, but I felt I had to write this because it was such an unpleasant experience. This was at the Platform 8/9 kiosk on 25 May, before taking the 17:34 train to Duisburg. It was one of the hottest days of the year and I had just cycled from Utrecht. I politely asked whether I could have some tap water for my water bottle. The lady at the kiosk angrily refused and told me I could buy water instead — and that I could sue her if I didn’t like it. I even offered to buy a coffee, but she still refused to help, despite the sink and tap being directly behind her. I prefer not to buy bottled water where possible, not because of the cost, but to reduce plastic waste. I also filter/purify my water, so tap water would have been perfectly fine. It wasn't busy, no one else was in the shop apart from one man ahead of me in the line buying coffee. I understand that staff may get asked the same questions repeatedly, especially on hot days, but that is part of working in a kiosk. Many people manage this kind of work with patience, friendliness and a basic desire to help customers. I do not want to criticise everyone who works there, as I am sure others may be perfectly pleasant. But based on this experience, be prepared for some abrasiveness — and don’t ask for tap water unless you want a lesson in how not to treat customers.

Small kiosk where you can buy basic products like soft drinks, coffe or food like pastries. However, have in mind that you will be probably paying a lot more here than any other shop outside the train station. You could also find cheaper stuff in the Albert Heijn shop in the train station.
