Down Under in Laagraven

Beautiful location, lovely on the water, that's great. I thought the service was very poor. When I arrived I had to wait 20 minutes before I could order a drink and we also had to wait a long time for the starter and main course. The main course came almost 45 minutes after the starter. (2 burgers and a steak). When, after an hour, we asked the lady who worked there what was going on, we received a very unkind response with a venomous undertone. It was busy and she worked hard enough, so she thought it was bad luck for us actually. After some pushback on our part, in which we eventually received a drink on the house, the atmosphere was completely lacking. By the way, after half an hour we asked again about that drink because it did not come on its own. The food itself was fine, nothing special but certainly not bad. The fries are special. The menu says rosemary, garlic, etc. In practice it's just fries with mayonnaise and that's it without any additions. And that for 5.50 extra is a bit crazy. Definitely not a success story for us and I don't think we will be back again anytime soon. Shame

Nice restaurant on the Laaggravense plas. Beautiful balcony terrace where you can enjoy lunch or dinner.

Downunder remains a great place! We celebrated our son's birthday party there yesterday and all the boys loved bodyboarding. It is a really fun activity and we were very happy with the good, friendly and patient supervisors.

Service was extremely slow. 10 minutes before we had our first drink and another 10 minutes before we could order. Meatlovers was ok, nothing special. Arugula lettuce with 3 types of meat. Main course pork belly and chicken somewhat dry. There was a piece of plastic in the pumpkin spice. Sent back, it was still on the bill at checkout.

Trendy place for recreational work. Lunch menu was varied and prices reasonable. A madhouse on a summer's day, I'm afraid.

Yesterday our children took an indoor surfing lesson for the first time. Everyone was very friendly. They received good help and explanations. Children are enthusiastic and would like to do it again

Nice place, somewhat hidden just along the N408. Located on a lake, the view is worth it, the restaurant itself has a good vibe. Food and service are good, don't expect exceptional quality or exuberant staff.

We went here for lunch. Loved the place ambience, location and service. The food was good and tasty although what I felt is as per the price of main course the quantity could be better , for example the sea Bash grill on main course is served without sides or salad , it’s just a small portion of sea bash.

A great terras to sit outside and look over the water, inside has a beachy vibe. The quality of the food is great, good flavors and some nice seasoning. The price of the main dishes are quite high, taking into account that a simple side dish like chips are not included. We paid 19,50 for 2 small chicken sate’s and had to pay a extra 5,50 for a portion of fries. Also a small portion of risotto was 11,50 as this was also on the menu as a side dish. Overall nice place to be but be aware of some above average pricing.

The children had a great time bodyboarding. Enthusiastic instructors! Then have a snack on the terrace. Was delicious.

The overall experience was positive. However, on second thought, I found a helmet necessary. You unintentionally make some big smacks and a helmet was absolutely not an unnecessary luxury as I have seen from experience. Hence 3 stars for the service.

Toasti/pastrami was great as was the very smooth and friendly service.

Restaurant with a beautiful view of Laagravenseplas. In summer there are all kinds of water sports activities here. Even in winter there is a beautiful view of the quiet lake. The menu offers a lot of choices. The staff is hospitable and friendly.

Cozy restaurant with beautiful views in the summer and a great terrace. We were there in December and it was attractively decorated. There were a lot of groups in the restaurant (18, 25 and 40 people), which caused a lot of noise. Food was delicious as always and the service was quick and attentive. Recommended!

The food was not fresh and we paid way too much for little good food! Way too salty and the meat was disappointing. And then ask €158... ! We will never go here again! And the ambiance was not OK either. Way too much light.

Nice place to combine bodyboarding with lunch.. atmosphere of the restaurant 5 stars.. atmosphere of indoor bodyboarding 3-4 stars. Ultimately, you can create the atmosphere yourself in water with extremely friendly staff!

Food was disappointing for the price. The tartare as a starter was a bit dry and the sauce with the tipsy chick was very salty. Everything else was well organized and the service was friendly and fast.

Nice beach atmosphere. Nice staff. You can also water ski on a cable car on the lake and surf on an indoor rapid. You can also play golf with a football and there is a beach with picnic tables. And there are even more things to do.

The food looks good, but the quality is disappointing. You cannot call the rendang rendang. It is mild and the meat dry. The flavors are flat. Only the fries were tasty, but you pay €5.50 for that. The food was served very quickly. The service was friendly.

Went for 2 days over the weekend. The pornstar martini cocktail is absolutely not recommended. The (too) sweet and somewhat chemical aftertaste confirmed my thought; ready-made and you can taste it. Not if you don't drink it regularly, but I think if you pay the normal price for a cocktail, you can also expect the handmade cocktail. I asked someone at the service about this and he responded very adequately and did not make a fuss about changing the drink (for a Cuba Libre), which was also not great, but fine. The food is 'just' good, for the price I would expect a little more in terms of flavors, but I am also critical based on my own experience. The service is top notch and of course you will wait a little longer if the entire terrace and inside is full, but it was really more than fine! It's a great place to sit, and you can also sit inside in a very attractive atmosphere. Nice for a company party.

Beautiful location. Beautiful decor. You're in a good place! Unfortunately, the service is not great. They are friendly but absent-minded. They forgot things 3 times. Lots of waiting and asking again. Very annoying if you sit there for relaxation. Shame! Also commercially speaking for the restaurateur. We ordered less due to the difficult service and also left a little earlier.

It is almost no longer affordable here: beef parmazan sandwich (carpaccio) for € 15.50: you get one thick slice of bread with carpaccio and lots of lettuce and some mayo to fill it up. You pay €11.50 for the muhammara. Also one slice with muhammara and especially lots of lettuce and some pine nuts. You pay €4.10 for a fresh mint tea. What mega margins they make here! In any case, I won't be going there again.

Had a good experience for our company outing. The service was not that smooth, and the food was fairly simple. Maybe next time we will choose a different menu. We really enjoyed the activity!

Nice tent on the water, good food.

In June 2024, a staff party was organized at Down Under for approximately 250 people. In itself it was a fantastic party at a beautiful location. The colleagues and their partners enjoyed it. But there are a few major negatives, which fortunately not everyone experienced. The fries were gone very quickly even though not everyone had finished eating yet. Re-baking was difficult because otherwise they wouldn't have enough for the party the next day (while the Makro is opposite). The food was tasty but also not enough. We had the feeling that our contact Down Under had insufficient experience. In addition, Down Under did not fulfill the financial agreements. We had planned various activities, but we had to cancel 2 of them due to insufficient entries. The other activities were apparently much more interesting. We communicated the final number of participants well (2 weeks) in advance so that cancellations could be made in time. Yet we were charged a 1500 cancellation fee. Presumably our contact canceled too late, causing us to pay the costs. I must also say that in the period from February to June we had 3 different contact persons because the pastors kept leaving. That apparently makes it difficult to make good agreements. You won't see our company there anymore, but luckily there are so many other of these locations in the Netherlands. Still a positive point to end on. They had delicious muffins made with our logo on them. And they did a nice job in terms of decoration. The staff on the day itself cannot be faulted. They were friendly and helpful. The negatives were more in the run-up to the party.

For around 25 euros for a main course you can expect a full stomach, I think. That did not work here. Hastily and lovelessly thrown together food, just 2 skewers of tough chicken satay with barely any sauce and only some hard prawn crackers, despite the already generous prices you can still pay extra for things that should be standard with these types of dishes such as fries and some vegetables. Soft drinks from an unknown brand are also just not tasty The view of the water skiers and the audience, which is very varied but mainly a bit cacky, makes up for a lot, but not everything. Staff is young and busy, some are attentive and others you have to keep waving in an attempt to order something or get the bill when you want to leave. With different staff members serving each table, when will catering entrepreneurs realize that this does not build a bond with their customers? The idea of ​​the tent is nice, but the execution could really be better.
