We had a great experience at Drank en spijslokaal "de Meester". My brother and I were there during the DTM2025. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is charming with a unique school-themed decor that adds a lot of character. We ordered the spare ribs and they were absolutely delicious - so tender they fell right off the bone. Highly recommended!

Super friendly and welcoming owners! The atmosphere in the restaurant is something completely different – ​​it's decorated like a classroom, and the menu is displayed on a small blackboard. We had the mixed grill – the spare ribs and pork were delicious. The steak was a bit tough, but still tasty. The pepper sauce we ordered was also delicious – we'd love to come back!

Despite booking the wrong person (Francesca), we weren't turned away. The restaurant has a unique charm: school desks, chalkboards, an original decor with loving details, and an atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The service was consistently friendly, attentive, and wonderfully uncomplicated. You immediately notice that the people here are passionate about their work. The absolute highlight was, of course, the cheese fondue. We had the "Proeverij" version with three different varieties – including goat cheese and a wonderfully spicy blue cheese. Everything was perfectly seasoned, creamy, and served with plenty of fresh bread. A delicious schnapps was also available upon request. We would go back anytime.

Great place! Totally cozy, beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was simply fantastic. The service was super friendly and relaxed—you immediately felt at home. Relaxing music played in the background, just right. The food was truly delicious—fresh, well-seasoned, and lovingly prepared. We'll definitely be back; we really enjoyed it!

The cheese fondue is highly recommended and definitely fills you up. The service was also very friendly. Furthermore, the furnishings are reminiscent of a school (chairs, tables, compasses, etc.).

We wanted to have something to eat in Zandvoort. Google recommends this venue. I can say with certainty that everything is correct. This is such a nice atmosphere, good food and a nice location. I highly recommend this restaurant. As a Burgundian Brabander, I really seek out these types of locations. Found! Look no further in Zandvoort and don't stick to those 'fashionable' beach clubs on the beach, but look further. I recommend this tent!

We had a very pleasant visit to the DeMeester in Zandvoort. Our starters were excellent. The carpaccio was excellent, the baguette with homemade herb butter and aioli was quite tasty, as were the prawn croquettes. Everything fresh, tasteful and lovingly prepared. Unfortunately, the satay with chicken didn't meet our personal taste at all. The chicken thigh meat was fatty and the sauce was very thick. Unfortunately none of us liked it. The “Wiener Schnitzel” was not the original! The breading was not prompt, the meat was tough, although well seasoned. We only chose it because the rib-eye steak was unfortunately out. The grill plate was excellent, the steaks were of very good quality and cooked perfectly medium. Spare ribs tender and juicy. The spare ribs were tender, spicy and juicy. The meat came off the bone easily. Each plate had a solid side salad with fruit. We were also served two small bowls of steakhouse fries. These were solid and well salted. There were also two mini bowls of mayo. We also ordered a cola, as well as a homemade green tea, cassis and normal iced tea. The iced teas were fresh, not too sweet and very tasty. The portions are generous and filling. Price-performance is fair and reasonable here. The toilets were very clean, but only accessible via a narrow spiral staircase. The atmosphere is rustic but very inviting. The service was warm and we felt completely welcome from the start. Despite weaknesses in some dishes, the overall package convinced us.

Great cheese fondue, delicious grill plates, great service

Samen met vrienden een nachtje Zandvoort gedaan en ter plaatse opzoek gegaan naar een fijn restaurant om lekker te kunnen eten. Toevallig schuin tegenover ons hotel dit leuke en lekkere restaurant gevonden. Volgens de eigenaar is de menukaart al jaren hetzelfde. En wat ons betreft dikke prima! Er staat lekker eten op! We hebben genoten van een heerlijk voor-, hoofd- en nagerecht. De sfeer is echt uitstekend en is grotendeels toch óók echt te danken aan Dré, ofwel onze gastvrouw Andrea. Zij én de eigenaar maakte onze Bourgondische avond compleet. Na de maaltijd nog heerlijk nageklets met de eigenaar en dat maakte dat het een heerlijke ongedwonge gezellige avond is geweest. Dankjulliewel.

Spent a night in Zandvoort with friends and went looking for a nice restaurant for a delicious meal. Coincidentally found this nice and tasty restaurant diagonally opposite our hotel. According to the owner, the menu has been the same for years. And as far as we're concerned, that's great! It has delicious food! We enjoyed a delicious starter, main course and dessert. The atmosphere is really excellent and is largely thanks to Dré, or our hostess Andrea. She and the owner made our Burgundian evening complete. After the meal we had a nice chat with the owner and that made it a wonderful, casual and pleasant evening. Thank you.

We visited de Meester during our stay at the local Centre Parcs and loved it so much that we returned the next night. The food is delicious, perfectly cooked and well portioned. Our waitress Dani spoke perfect English with a lovely Scottish accent and couldn't have done more to accommodate us and make our experience wonderful. We came with our three young children and they happily provided colouring materials and snacks for them to enjoy during the meal. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

Het is een aanrader om hier te eten! Allereerst: heerlijk eten en daarbij een fantastisch vriendelijke bediening. We kwamen hier zonder reservering en het restaurant zat vrijwel vol. Toch kregen we een plekje waar het iets minder comfortabel was qua warmte. Maar hiervoor was een geweldige oplossing bedacht: een extra kacheltje. Dus we hebben comfortabel en warm kunnen genieten! Wanneer je hier gaat eten zul je geen spijt krijgen.

Als de meester (of de juf) een cijfer zou moeten geven aan Drank en Spijslokaal de Meester in Zandvoort dan zou dat een onvoldoende zijn. De sfeer was bij binnenkomst al wat gespannen. Later bleek dat dat kwam omdat het in de keuken totaal in de soep liep. We hebben anderhalf uur (!) op ons eten moeten wachten. Op de vraag of we nog wat te drinken mochten bestellen, kwam niet het gangbare ‘ik kom zo bij u’, maar een ongepast ‘wacht even, ik moet eerst het eten uit de keuken halen…’ Er kwamen wel excuses van de bezwete en rood aangelopen serveerster. Wat was er nou eigenlijk aan de hand, vroegen wij ons af. De chefkok was ‘helemaal op slot gegaan’, een black-out blijkbaar, waardoor de eigenaar zelf de keuken in moest om de gerechten te maken. Onze fantasieloze vleesgerechten smaakten uiteindelijk wel okay (als je nog iets kunt proeven met zoveel trek…) maar daar is ook alles mee gezegd. Wel okay. Het beetje gesneden ijsbergsla met komkommer on the side was rijkelijk versierd met mayonaise uit een spuitflesje. Het concept van De Meester met een interieur van oude schooltafels en -stoelen, een krijtbord met daarop het menu en Aap Noot Mies schoolplaten aan de wand is best aardig, maar de uitvoering is rommelig en te makkelijk. De voorspelbare zachtzoete schoolkrijtjes bij de rekening maken dat niet goed. Wij blijven achter met de vraag hoe het er hier op andere avonden aan toegaat… Toch gaan niet terug om het uit te zoeken. Het is niet anders: de hele staf moet terug de schoolbanken in.

De sfeer is gezellig. De bediening is vriendelijk en vrolijk. Het eten is lekker. Het is een goede prijs/ kwaliteit verhouding. Een restaurant om nogmaals te reserveren. Top!

Wir waren in vier Tagen, zwei Mal dort. Nach einem herzlichen Empfang und der Empfehlung, kam auch schon das Essen. Neben der Vorspeise, gab es das Käsefondues. Dreierlei, total lecker. Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen sind die kräftigen Käsesorten. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufgeschlossen. Das Restaurant ist eingerichtet als alte Schule, wirklich schön und gemütlich. Wir hatten einen tollen Abend, mit sehr leckerem Essen in einem tollen Ambiente.

We had an absolutely delightful dining experience at Het Drank en Spijslokaal de Meester. The Fondue, Ribeye Steak, and Wiener Schnitzel were all exceptional, showcasing fresh ingredients and expert preparation. A special mention goes to the pepper sauce—it was simply outstanding and elevated the Ribeye to another level. The attention to detail in both flavor and presentation made every bite enjoyable. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. A perfect spot for a memorable meal. We will definitely be returning!

Reserved three days in advance and got the worst seat right at the entrance. Very cold and uncomfortable, as the other visitors almost brush their butts past the table. Guests who came after us without a reservation were given better seats, I can't understand that. As a reward for the great seats, we were forgotten several times during the ordering and later payment process. You felt like you were on the sidelines. About the food: Truly nothing special. If you're a BBQ fan, you shouldn't eat spare ribs. Completely overcooked, no smoke flavor whatsoever and smeared with bad, non-caramelized sauce. Rarely have such bad ribs been eaten. The reviews that are far too good belie the actual quality of the store. We were very disappointed and recommend eating elsewhere.

Drei Tage vorher reserviert und den schlechtesten Platz direkt am Eingang bekommen. Sehr kalt und ungemütlich, da die anderen Besucher fast mit dem Hintern am Tisch vorbeistreifen. Gäste, die ohne Reservierung nach uns kamen, haben bessere Plätze erhalten, sowas kann ich nicht verstehen. Als Belohnung für die tollen Plätze wurden wir dann mehrfach beim Bestell- und später beim Bezahlvorgang vergessen. Man kam sich vor wie auf dem Abstellgleis. Zum Essen: Wahrlich nichts Besonderes. Wer BBQ Fan ist, sollte besser keine Spareribs essen. Völlig übergart, keinerlei Raucharoma und dazu zugeschmiert mit schlechter, nicht karamelisierter Sauce. Selten so schlechte Ribs gegessen. Die viel zu guten Bewertungen täuschen über die eigentliche Qualität des Ladens hinweg. Wir waren sehr enttäuscht und empfehlen, wo anders essen zu gehen.

Oh that was bad. We entered excited for fondu/wine and some appetizers experience. We had some small unfinished bottle of water with us, I opened to take a sip before checking menu (which was not given), waitress asked not to drink brought water but to order instead (sure, ok, understood, but where is the menu? She said check on website if you need in English - ok! but there are no drinks in digital menu) I also asked if they maybe serve before food jar of water - she repeated - only if you order and pay for water. Ok, so we had pretty long chat about water Afterwards we chose the fondu (again, we are 2 girls, usually take few things to try and not to overeat). So we are planning to get 1 fondu and few appetisers along with drinks. After that we have a really nonsense talk for 3-5 minutes where the waitress (middle age lady with short hair) repeated that fondu is for one person, we tried to understand if we shall order 2 as it’s obligatory or she keeps saying for 1 person cause of portion (according to her it’s for 1). She repeated like a parrot - it’s for one person, I swear I had a dream afterwards with this lady repeating on every question we ask - ITS FOR ONE PERSON Seriously the rude attitude and unfriendly look took us away from this place. Btw place was 70% empty, perhaps of this waitress, whom I wish only good. Perhaps she was tired (however we came around 6pm in the place which opens 5.

We were there last night. We can only recommend it. Very nice reception. Ambience very nice. The food was very tasty. We can recommend Foundu, schnitzel and steak. We'll be back. Reservation is recommended. Dogs allowed.

It's a pity that you have to pay extra for an extra portion of fries. This was not communicated in advance. They say if you need fries, just say so. But that is also the only downside.

Everything fits together here. The "old school" menu on a blackboard contains delicious and well prepared dishes. Quality is top notch. The decoration is great. Class photos, school desks, reading board, school bags and even a gym cupboard converted into a bench. Very nicely done. The management is looking forward to it. Is enthusiastic, passionate and no-nonsense. They know exactly who, what and where. Don't expect haute cuisine and labels, because they have kept those far away at De Meester. The atmosphere has remained wonderfully casual. We will definitely come back!

Great restaurant with a nice old school classroom atmosphere. The meat (grill plate) was on point and the fries and mushroom sauce were very good. An accidentally incorrect side dish for the cheese fondue, which was also very tasty, was immediately supplemented with the correct one (so a side dish as a bonus😅). The service was very friendly, helpful and very fond of children. The desserts also left nothing to be desired. Always my pleasure!

Das Positive vorweg: Originelles Ambiente und sehr aufmerksamer Service. Das Essen war allenfalls Durchschnitt. Die Vorspeise bestand aus einem Rindercarpaccio mit einer Käsesauce, die nahezu das ganze Fleisch überdeckte, einer kleinen Schale mit einer Suppe(?) und zu guter letzt einer Käsekrokette mit Dip. Der anschließende Grillteller hatte drei Sorten Fleisch, wovon das Stück Sparerib noch das Beste war, weil zart und gut gewürzt. Das Stück Schweinelende war okay, das Rind leider durchgebraten und zäh. Unter der Salatgarnitur befand sich eine kleine Portion Kartoffelsalat. Dazu hatten wir eine sehr dicke (vermutlich mit Mehl gebundene) Pfeffersauce. Wir waren zu zweit in dem Lokal bekamen aber lediglich ein Körbchen mit Pommes. Als Beilage zu wenig. Ich kann die durchweg positiven Bewertungen absolut nicht nachvollziehen. Zu guter letzt lassen die hygienischen Zustände der sanitären Einrichtung sehr zu wünschen übrig. Da ist jede Toilette in einem Strandcafe sauberer.

Gutes Restaurant, aber nichts besonderes. Mit einem Besuch hier machst du nichts falsch, die Erwartung sollte aber trotz der vielen guten Bewertungen nicht zu hoch sein. Die Kellner sind sehr aufmerksam und das Ambiente ist gut gemacht.

This will be a long praise....first of all.....we were completely thrilled! The communication was great...unfortunately there was no table for 8 people, but the personal letter made it possible! The ambience is unusual and funny, because you're eating in a "school"...that's what it feels like! And now to the actual thing... The service is unique and super relaxed, everything is relaxed and you have the feeling that you are chatting with an old friend... The food was bombastic and a great price...all the dishes were perfectly prepared, perfect and sooooo delicious! Unfortunately, one dish did not score as expected. The meat dishes are great and then the various super delicious cheese fondue variations are simply great. The last evening in Zandvoort couldn't have ended better - thanks for that!

Great ambience…….the schnitzel was good BUT….the potato salad that came with the salad was definitely not homemade, tasted like it came from ALDI. The mushrooms in my far too thin sauce were from a can. My partner and I had to share a small bowl of fries. All in all very disappointing after reading almost only good reviews here

We went to “DeMeester” twice because it was so delicious and beautiful. We had the best spare ribs we have ever eaten, cheese fondue once and the mixed grill platter. Everything exceptionally delicious! The waitresses were very cheerful, quick and very attentive. Thank you for that! In keeping with the atmosphere, there was very nice music playing on both evenings, all oldies, which we “oldies” particularly liked. We can only recommend this restaurant and would like to give it even more stars!

Delicious food and super friendly service

Wir haben das Restaurant aufgrund der vielen positiven Bewertungen aufgesucht und wurden keineswegs enttäuscht. Sehr freundlicher & herzlicher Gastgeber & Team. Wir wurden im Vorfeld über die unterschiedlichen Speisen aufgeklärt und der Wirt war stets um unser Wohlbefinden bemüht. Das Essen war sehr lecker & reichhaltig (Käsefondue & Dessert). Das Ambiente erinnert an vergangene Schulzeiten (weit vor meiner Zeit) und wird durch stimmige Musik begleitet. Wahnsinn, wie viel Herzblut der Gastgeber in dieses Lokal und seine Gäste investiert. Hierfür zollen wir ihm großen Respekt! Das ist bodenständige & faire Gastronomie!! Wir kommen gerne wieder. Lasst es euch schmecken!!!

ich kann nur sagen, die bewertungen stimmen! eine sehr stimmige atmosphäre, wie in einer guten (schulstube). aber noch viel wichtiger: ein sehr feines essen. die bavette und die spareribs…ein gedicht, absolut perfekt und auf den punkt gebraten mit feinen beilagen. besitzergeführt und eine eingespielte küchencrew… was will man mehr. sound der 80er, etwas abseits vom zentrum, es lohnt sich! und als schweizer ist die überraschung natürlich gross, wenn auch noch käsefondue angeboten wird. doch das überlassen wir den anderen :-).

Das Essen, Bedienung einfach nur genial,klassisch. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant ist wie in 80er Schule -sehr schön und rustikal. Die Speisekarte an sich,recht übersichtlich, was sehr gut ist, da können die Köche sich auf das Zubereiten Konzentrieren. Das Fleisch ist aufs Punkt gebraten! Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right here at all, we had four dishes and unfortunately everything didn't taste fresh or really good. the schnitzel was soggy, the spare ribs were also very soft and bland, unfortunately we weren't given good advice on the fondue, although we mentioned that it was our first cheese fondue, we ended up with a very intense old cheese fondue. In the end, for us it's just a maximum of 3 out of 10.

We were excited to try de Meester given the high Google review average. While we were greeted in a very friendly manner and promptly seated in a friendly manner, we were sadly disappointed in the dishes we ordered. The schnitzel was not crispy and difficult to cut. The mushroom sauce had only a few small pieces of mushroom in it. The chicken thigh satay had a tasty sauce, but there was too much. I do not believe the thighs had been trimmed enough. The fondue was somewhat grainy but did have an ok flavor. We did like the fresh baguette and herbed butter a great deal. And, de Meester had nice atmosphere and cordial staff as previously mentioned. Perhaps just an off night.

Wir wurden bereits sehr herzlich empfangen durch den Besitzer des Restaurants. Sowohl die Vorspeise (Suppe des Tages (Senfsuppe) und Carpaccio) als auch der Hauptgang (Käsefondü) waren wirklich lecker und empfehlenswert. Ganz besonders hat uns aber die tolle Art des Besitzers gefallen, wir kamen oft ins Gespräch, da er auch gutes Deutsch sprach und sehr offen war. Wir würden jeder Zeit wieder kommen und planen bereits im nächsten Urlaub einen Besuch hier ein. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend in eurem Restaurant.

Es war wirklich toll! Vom Ambiente über den Service bis zum Essen, war alles klasse! Wir kommen auf jedenfall wieder. Kleine Karte mit Klassikern, Schnitzel/saté/steak/Grillplatte. Was wohl sehr gut sein soll (haben wir aber nicht probiert, aber überall gesehen) war das Käsefondue. Zum Abschluss gabs noch einen netten Plausch mit dem Wirt und wir sind glücklich und satt nach Hause geradelt

We went here for dinner between escape rooms. Delicious food and a nice atmosphere. The owner spoke with pride about his business and that seems only right. :)

Perfect atmosphere, excellent and extremely enthusiastic host. Ambience 10+! Just as important, the food was great, I had the cheese fondue and my wife had satay, it was delicious. Dessert from the master was also great. No fuss, just fantastic

Heerlijk gegeten maar bovenal klopte het gehele plaatje. Zalig gegeten in een eerlijk open en ontvangen sfeer. Geen poeha, simpele heerlijke gerechten en een fantastische ambiance! Wie goed doet goed ontmoet 😀

Good restaurant in Zandvoort. Fun school-style furnishings. Super nice host, speaks German and English. The cheese fondue has something and is fun at the table. Meat from the grill on point.

Sehr leckeres Essen. Das Käsefondue war fantastisch. Es wird alles selbst gekocht. Der Inhaber ist nett, zuvorkommend und sehr lustig. Wie hatten einen rundum schönen Abend. Das Ambiente ist ebenfalls sehr cool. Man sitzt und einer „alten Schule“!

You sit on school chairs at old “school tables” in a nostalgic atmosphere. Super tasty, great service and great service. Rarely found anything comparable. If you don't try it, it's your own fault.

Incredible onion soup 😭😭 I'll never be able to eat onion soup anywhere else. Such a simple and cozy place yet such high quality. Also the music they play is incredible.

Delicious meal with a large group! We called in advance to say that we were coming with 12 people. Everything was completely decorated for us and it was a very nice evening. Delicious food and very friendly and attentive service! 100% recommended!
