Eetcafé de roos in Gorredijk

★★★★★ Wonderful dinner at Lyf’s. Creative, delicious food, warm service and a relaxed, romantic atmosphere. Everything felt special. We’d happily come back!

It is one of the two Chinese restaurants in Gorredijk. The food is always of good quality and you get a fast service if you want to pick up your order.

Unfortunately, the fries were very greasy, possibly reheated. The snacks were tasty.

Starters were great, Kir Royal made with a V-grade cheese. So it should have been great too. For the main course, we ordered the hamburger, sirloin steak, and two fish dishes. The sirloin steak was of mediocre quality and, you won't believe this: the hamburger was simply shocking. The quality and presentation were very poor; it looked like it came straight out of the freezer at Aldi. A bun on the side, an egg on top, a lettuce leaf next to it (with a brown spot), and that's it. The bowls of fries went back to the kitchen: way too salty. Only one bowl came back, very late. The lettuce leaves in a small bowl didn't offer anything special either. Next time, I'll just go to Piet's fries for a hamburger like that.

Good food! And great service, nice boy! Maaaarrrrrr... a fat delivery man who parked his black car in front of the door in such a way that you can no longer pass it and obstructs the view when you sit comfortably by the window. This gentleman “who was high in emotion” also had a loud and clear conversation with a very irritating smart-aleck lady with a blue shirt and glasses who wanted attention by continuously reporting to colleagues that she had a hernia while she was particularly talking loudly or shouting loudly, dancing in the kitchen and saying that she was going horse riding. …So staff, for God's sake, take your private conversations elsewhere! Throwing out the smart "thing", more peace and quiet in the kitchen, because a lot of noise and nice music instead.
