What a cozy atmosphere and nice service. The food was great!

On a bike, you won't miss a thing... so not this Hulst eatery either. Busy terrace in beautiful weather. Quite manageable, though a bit too much passing traffic. Fast and good service. Gazpacho and hamburger delicious and served nicely. Bicycles parked in plain sight “right in front of the door”.

No Michelin star, but above expectations.

The food was very good, large portions, friendly service, and reasonable prices.

Had a lovely time sitting here for lunch on the outdoor terrace during the Drenthe cycling event. It is a great place to sit; there is also always something going on with the Peat Route which runs past here, where people have to pass through locks to continue sailing—always fun to watch.

We had a delicious meal. Chicken chips, fried potatoes, vegetables, and raw vegetables. For a reasonable price. And they also have dog water.

The ice cream from cafeteria 't Slûske is really tasty and the scoops are good (both in a cup and on a cookie cone). There is plenty of choice in flavors.

Great eatery with an extensive menu. Large portions with both fries and potatoes with your choice. The schnitzel could have been a bit bigger though.. friendly service and reserving is easier by phone. Unfortunately, emails are not responded to.

A wide selection of different lunch dishes. Service was fast and courteous. Even with a large group (13 people), we were seated right away.

On Saturday, we enjoyed a beer outside on the terrace in the lovely sunshine and decided to eat it too. Fried plaice! What did we get? A plaice from the steamer—so disgusting! Limp, tasteless, it looked awful. We really shouldn't have accepted this as "fried plaice." It was tasteless, too. We'd been cycling for a day, so we didn't send it back. Stupid of us!

Farmer's fries. Tasteless fries. Peanut sauce with no flavor. Just a few bacon bits and way too much onion. No spices, no bell pepper pieces, which are absolutely essential for farmer's fries. Absolutely no flavor.

What a wonderful surprise! Eetcafé Hulst in Appelscha is highly recommended. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and above all, delicious food. The menu is varied, and everything is prepared with care. The satay was tender and full of flavor, and the fries were also excellent. You can tell they cook with love. The service was attentive and hospitable – you really feel welcome. The terrace is also a lovely place to sit, especially on a nice day. In short: a cozy place where you can eat well at a fair price. See you next Thursday.

One of us ordered fish. 26'50 and a mini fish. Very expensive. The other meat that was good and normal price. Too bad you feel a bit put off.

Ate cordon bleu and salmon. Really not top quality. Cordon bleu was a dry Schnitzel from the freezer with a slice of ham and cheese thrown on top. And burned in the oven. The salmon also came straight from the freezer and was really not tasty. A small bowl of fries and baked potato. Also don't ask if there was enough. Really too little for 2 people. But almost 25 euros per menu. Not really recommended

Very friendly staff, always helped quickly, good service. In the summer, a lovely place to sit outside, and you can also get fries to take home every week, which is great.

Lovely café where you can have a very good lunch or dinner. But where you can of course also just drink a beer at the bar.

We were on the beautiful terrace, located directly on the street. But it doesn't bother you as the traffic is manageable. Friendly service, good prices. Food was well prepared and more than sufficient. Recommended. We will definitely come back when we are passing through.

What a beautiful cafe! We had a drink this afternoon. There was a wide choice of different smoothies, I chose 2 different ones here and they were very tasty! The chocolate milk was nice and hot!

Made a reservation with a group of 13 people (motorcyclists) and agreed that we would sit in the courtyard. The ordered drinks and then the dishes were served quickly by, I think, 3 friendly ladies and the food was delicious! A place to come back!

We were able to personally arrange a voucher with the owner for my mother who turned 75 and whom we wanted to surprise (nice that they thought of it that way). On behalf of her rave reviews, delicious food and very friendly staff, nothing but praise. If I'm ever in the area myself, I'll definitely stop by. Thanks for the nice experience.

Excellent service and atmosphere. We had a fillet satay and got 4 very small pieces of satay and a handful of fries. Wasn't particularly tasty either. We paid a lot of money for the little food we got.

Well, just back from the seasonal hustle and bustle of Texel, it is very quiet in Appelscha. That cannot be the fault of Café Hulst. Very good and surprisingly affordable.

A café that closes at 10:00 PM in the middle of the high season... Well, what can you say about that... 🤔

Today we ate and had drinks at Hulst again. Service was once again top and smooth. As always, the atmosphere was pleasant and friendly. Today the Carpaccio as a starter. This was beautifully served and tasted great, instead of what we are used to at other restaurants, the portion was nicely sized and looked nice. The main course was then served quickly and tasted great. Big thumbs up for the chef and staff.

This afternoon/tonight we once again enjoyed the hospitality in Appelscha in Eetcafé/café Hulst. Start with a cold drink while you are welcomed with a smile and the feeling of coming home. Add a garnish! Served quickly as always. A chat with the staff is a standard part of this. 👍 Then we had a delicious meal with a well-filled appetizer. The carpaccio again tasted great, and the portions here are simply great in relation to price/quality. Then enjoyed the spare ribs as a main course. Dessert was no longer suitable, but we finished with a Grand Marnier. Old-fashioned fun! We will definitely come back. Nice café for locals, but also for tourists/hikers.

Unfortunately, I tried to email you personally, but this way. I ordered a gypsy snitzel (this was a chicken snitzel with gypsy sauce, quite tasty, but still a bit of a downer. (Because it got quite busy I didn't make anything of this, but that's the way it should be). However, I was impressed. impressed with the speed and service.

We were stranded here by chance with the motorcycle group, but we had an exceptional time here and received good and fast help. Service was top notch and tables were quickly pulled together so that the group could sit together. All in all, we will stop here more often.

When I brought the large order (20 people), the owner stated that I had ordered too few fries. It would have been nice if this had been mentioned immediately so that I could have ordered more. My comment was not appreciated, and an aggressive owner (Henk) gave me a hard push. At first he didn't even want to give me the food I paid for. Other customers watched in amazement, just like myself. A report was made to the police using witnesses. I called Henk to talk it out, but he hung up the phone. That you can behave like that towards a customer who comes to pick up some food with disabled clients... No chance, never experienced before!

Nice place to sit, but the service can sometimes be slow.

Cozy cafe with, apart from fries/frikandels, also a number of dishes that are at a higher level. The Dutch steak and tenderloin satay that we ordered were delicious. The potato/fries garnish were a bit on the meager side. Portion size of these 2 side dishes could have been larger/more.

Another really nice café, where you can get a great bouncer and croquette sandwich, but also more modern stuff such as tuna sandwich and healthy. There may no longer be a jukebox and there are no Persian rugs on the tables, but it still exudes that atmosphere.

Arrived in the evening. The tent is remarkably clean which is great and we received friendly help and a more difficult product was also made without any complaints Unfortunately, 2 products were missing from the order, specifically the two for my youngest son. The distance was too great to drive back and the rest was shared with him.

Once again we had a delicious meal. This time we had a salmon sandwich and an egg roll. The lady at the counter is cheerful, friendly and customer-oriented.

We have been coming to this snack bar for years. For the 2nd time we received bad fries. My husband got fries for our dinner at home. Very small bag that we pay for. I didn't eat fries because I wanted to have enough for our visit. My husband always asks that the fries be fried 4 minutes longer. It turned out our fries were limp and not even cooked properly. We are looking for another snack bar.

Food medium, nice service. The room was quite dark for dining. Pangasius was nice and tender, vegetables a bit plain, string beans seemed to come from a can. Spare ribs dry and the meatball didn't really taste like anything. Cordon bleu schnitzel was good.

Good food, fair prices, friendly staff

We had dinner twice this week between 11/9 and 16/9 and had an ice cream sundae once. Nothing but good things about the food, first time 2 x chicken satay with tasty fried potatoes, fries and a fresh salad. Second time a Dutch steak and satay of the hare. Quality was very good, service very fast and accurate, despite being busy. Critical comments: we paid full price, even though a senior rate was available. We are 73 and 68 years old, so definitely seniors, but apparently we looked young! Also a critical note about smoking on the terrace. If, like us, you consume around €50, you don't want to sit in the cigarette smoke of your neighbors. This is outdated. Advice: remove the ashtrays from the tables. Nothing but praise.
