Fine sandwich, only the steak knife was not suitable for cutting it.

After a long bike ride, we decided to order a charcuterie board for 2 people and a glass of wine there. The charcuterie board arrived quickly.....but what a disaster that was🙈 Per person: 2 small cubes of cumin cheese, 2 wedges of regular cheese, 2 slices of grilled sausage, 2 slices of Gelderse sausage....a mini mini bowl of mixed nuts.....only the bitterballen were good. And they charge 16.50 for that. The whole board wasn't even worth 10 euros. We are going to the neighbors next time. With great difficulty, after a major complaint, we received a tiny bit of a discount, with a lot of pain and effort.

Great place. Had a tasty meal and a beer. Will definitely be back.

During a visit to my stepdaughter in the Drenthe Wold, we went for a bike ride and decided to eat here. Friendly service, nice terrace, and the food was fine. Pork schnitzel, steak, and spareribs, and a pancake for the little one. As I have often described, I am simply spoiled when it comes to spareribs in Groningen. So these were perfectly acceptable. The steak was a good medium, as requested, and the schnitzel was fine. Definitely worth repeating, but next time I will choose a different dish.

What a nice little place. We sat on the terrace; it was a bit busy by the road where the market was just being cleared away, but the service made up for it. Such fun and friendly staff with a sense of humor, I love it. Had a delicious meal, good meat, tasty with fries and roasted potatoes, and the plate was nicely presented. So definitely recommended!

Reasonably good food, but quite pricey and the lady on the terrace didn't really seem to be in the mood.

Maybe a miscommunication but strange nonetheless. Just not a happy feeling. But if you come for the food: simply very good

We ordered sandwiches and it was supposed to take a little longer, but after waiting 45 minutes—and seeing guests who arrived later already being served—we received no answer to our question about how much longer it would take, nor an apology. We ended up just paying for the coffee and canceling the rest. Disappointed.

I ordered iced tea and didn't get a lemon, but the end of an orange. 😡 We got baguettes... but HUH, what was under them? A bit odd with the nuts... the baguettes were tasty, though. I also had mustard soup, which was tasty, but the spoon was really weird... now I'm waiting for my schnitzel with little hope... I'll keep you updated. Okay, that was dry, too bad... also a weird carrot with it? Two different ones, hot and cold? For dessert, I ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream and got an owl? Weird, but I took a cute little creature home with me. 😝

The coffee was mediocre (as in most restaurants, it came from a vending machine, and good coffee simply can't come from those), but the apple pie was fantastic, and the whipped cream was AMAZING! Not from a can, but from a machine. The staff was very welcoming and friendly! The atmosphere was great!

We didn't find the food restaurant-worthy. Cod fillet without any sauce, spareribs should have fallen off the bone, which wasn't the case—they were dry. The schnitzel wasn't good quality, and the price was too high for everything.

The hamburgers were delicious, but I don't understand the boiled carrot slices. Too many and not tasty.

Had a delicious fillet satay. It was tender and perfectly seasoned. It came with warm vegetables, fries, and fried potatoes. The vegetables could be a bit more exciting (in terms of flavor and seasoning), but otherwise, it was excellent. Fast and friendly service.

After 15 minutes, still no service, so I walked over myself. They said, "We'll be right there." Then we waited another 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. A dame blanche with fresh fruit and vanilla ice cream was replaced by an ice cream with vanilla soft serve and canned fruit. Afterward, a friendly server helped us, and we didn't have to pay for the ice cream after we went to the bar ourselves.

We were the only ones, so we had a private dining room. We had a delicious meal and our food was ready quickly. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere.

Although the decor, choices on the menu and the atmosphere could be improved, our burgers were excellent. Service also very attentive.

The weather was nice so we could sit on the terrace. They couldn't handle the crowds so I went inside to order. The cups of those before us were still on the table. We had a cup of coffee and a waffle with cherries, the waffle cost €5.50. The waffle and cherries were tasty and could have just added a little more cherries. Then it was perfect.

Had to wait half an hour for bread platter and bitterballen. Food and drinks were otherwise okay, but I was asked 3 times about order status.

Had something to eat there a few months ago. Nice service, nice place. I ordered a ciabatta chicken teriyaki, which also matched the name of the restaurant. I'm sorry, but it was really tasteless. The chicken was not marinated and apparently the Teriyaki sauce was supposed to provide the flavor. Well that didn't work at all, it still tastes great. Maybe the cook was sick? Otherwise I'll hold my breath...

You order a fruit sorbet and get a glass with soft ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream and some fruit at the bottom, oh yes, also half a strawberry on top...

Here is the terrace center of Appelscha. Had something to drink here after a bike ride before cycling back to the campsite. The weather was nice and busy. Friendly staff and also friendly guests.

Bowled with colleagues. At first the entrance to the bowling was not open and I had to ask the lady at the bar to open it. Furthermore, the location was good, nice places to sit. But played on the 2nd lane from the right, but there is certainly a deviation in the lane.

WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! It smells musty! Chocolate milk powder with water and soft whipped cream. The rest is an equal representation, trash and just as old-fashioned. Never again.

Frenno is a good cook and butler

A restaurant as you would expect with excellent dishes for an acceptable price. The 'senior dessert' is brilliantly conceived. Unfortunately no special beers in stock. The cause is the (quiet) time of the year.

Spare ribs were unfortunately tasteless and expensive. The staff was super nice and helpful.

We drove by for a cup of coffee during the motorcycle tour, kindly served by the young gentleman. However, the coffee was terrible and you pay 2.80 for what comes from an instant machine. For that reason alone, we will drive past it just a little faster next time. The town is nice, but you certainly don't have to go there for a coffee stop!!

Ordered some extra fries, never received them, therefore 1 star less for service. Other than that it was excellent.

Had dinner tonight at restaurant Le Coq in Appelscha. Food was tasty and more than enough, service was friendly and attentive. In short, highly recommended if you are in Appelscha.

We were helped quickly, but we had to wait a long time for our food. Cappuccino tasted like ditch water and the ginger tea was meager. After his father-in-law almost hit his head with a bottle of Coke and a glass broke. My salami sandwich was very dry and not very exciting. The satay was dry. The rest of the group was quite satisfied with their lunch. The warm waffle with cherries and whipped cream was delicious, but I wouldn't come back for this anytime soon. Shame.

Ordered 2 eggs, 1 on white bread and 1 on brown bread. However, both were served on white bread. Mistakes can happen. One was fine, the other baked a bit too long. I don't think the quality in relation to the price is good. I'll go to a different place next time. This was yesterday.

Our visit to le coq was truly an adventure. We took a seat on the terrace with a beautiful view of the flowering forests of Appelscha. Staff were quick to take the drinks. I noticed the lack of ice in my glass, but it certainly didn't bother me. The service ladies were extremely friendly and we certainly had a laugh with them. Then the time to order came. For me, a not too hungry person, one pancake was enough. The rest of the group decided to focus on the meat range. The food arrived on time, so to speak, what one expects when they take a look at le coq. The bread baskets were fine, despite all the reviews, but pricey in my humble opinion. The pancake was far from bad but also far from unappetizing. We feasted our eyes on the summer orange slices on the salads. Presentation of the meat pieces was poor. Better said, the meat with the salad. No fuss and completely fine. If I have to believe my travel companions, the sparerib pieces were dry but tasty and the hamburger was delicious (read: highly recommended). In the words of my companion, the schnitzel was not as expected. The desert menu was not very pompous, but the ice cream shop next to coq, which seemed to belong to the restaurant, more than made up for it. The iced coffees were a highlight of our enjoyment on the terrace. Little coffee, lots of deliciousness. The only tips I can think of are that the service should have had more knowledge of the menu and possible allergens. However, I am of course a novice in the catering industry. Thank you Le coq! Memories made that will stay with us. Final verdict on le coq based on my pancake: far from perfect but also far from recommended.

Went to dinner with my wife on a warm summer day. Reservations are useful on weekends. The service was good. But I had to ask for attention once, therefore no 5 stars. The food was fine. My wife opted for the farmer's schnitzel and it was delicious. I opted for the pork tenderloin and it was slightly overcooked. Hence the 4 stars. But I absolutely recommend everyone to visit this restaurant. Beautifully situated against the forest.

Waited 35 minutes for the food, we got it on brown bread (unsolicited), ordered new drinks, didn't get a glass. 10 minutes later I receive a glass with rinse aid in it. Waitress grumpy/unfriendly. It is not yet high season, the crowds are not too bad and yet everything takes so long. I don't recommend it, nice for once but never again.

The service was excellent, despite the place being full, quick service, nice staff. Very large portions of food, baguette herb butter was okay, but the butter was very hard at first, so let it sit for a while. The spareribs were a very large portion of no less than 600 grams. Unfortunately with little sauce, quite dry and quickly cold. The potatoes and fries were very good. As far as I'm concerned, the portions could be a little smaller and with more sauce.

Food is good. We were outside the tourist season so we were the only ones there.

Time for good food? Then come here! Excellent restaurant with fortunately not an extensive menu, but still enjoyable choice. Coming by car? No problem, parking is available around the corner.

What a disgusting coffee... Unbelievable, is this instant coffee...? We'll leave it at this.

Used this restaurant yesterday on a bike ride through beautiful Drenthe. Service is friendly and adequate. Unfortunately, the coffee (cappuccino) is not drinkable and comes from an instant machine. The interior is gloomy and dark. The men's toilet area is limited and is in need of renovation.

Nice for a stopover. Not special, but nice staff. The place is special. Opposite a beautiful forest. Enjoy walking with the dog. And you can practice various cool sports here.

After 5 p.m. there is no longer an option to have a simple snack. Only appetizers, main course and dessert. 3 swearing, smoking and drinking lots of beer also detracted from the whole experience. After a beer and a glass of wine we left for the neighbor.
