Food quality: salmon was good, garnish very mediocre. Expected more for the price.

A cozy eatery. Friendly service. However, for the main course, we were unlucky that the chef couldn't prepare it well. So that was a disappointment. My advice is therefore to order something else from the menu. The duck and the lasagna, on the other hand, were well received by our party.

Cozy place with very attentive and polite staff. The menu changes regularly and is impressingly diverse, including a full vegan menu with a wide variety of choices. The portions are generous. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely recommend a visit!

Highly recommended for vegans, completely vegan menu and absolutely delicious! We had a 3-course menu with 2 drinks for just over 50 euros pp.

Since March 18th, there has been a new menu, and naturally, we had to try it! What a beautiful menu; the pancakes with pulled duck are fantastic! The pork belly and mackerel are also highly recommended. Be sure to ask for advice on the wine pairings; the Romanian wine with the duck is delicious. For the main courses, we went for the mixed grill and the confit duck. The mixed grill was more than enough and exactly to our liking; the confit duck was fantastic! The desserts were difficult, especially because the selection is huge. Due to the stress of choosing, we were allowed a tasting, and we enjoyed it immensely! Combined with an Eiswein, it was absolutely perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on Tuesday evening!

We received generous portions. The food was truly delicious. Served by two super sociable girls. No complaints!

Last week we dined at Eetcafé Spinoza in Leeuwarden. After hearing many good things about the murder mystery, we were curious about the restaurant itself. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Starter We chose the carpaccio, but it was disappointing. The meat was far too cold and the presentation was very minimal: only arugula and nuts, without the cheese or truffle mayo you might expect. Main Course For our main course, we had steak and spare ribs. The steak was unseasoned and therefore very bland. The spare ribs, on the other hand, were tender and well-seasoned. The desserts were neatly presented and looked well-prepared. Service & Atmosphere Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. The waitress who helped us seemed to be having a bad day and made it quite clear to us, which was unpleasant. Furthermore, the seating was very cramped. When we needed to use the restroom, the table next to us even had to get up to let someone pass. Conclusion Despite positive expectations, our visit didn't deliver the experience we'd hoped for. There were certainly positive elements, such as the spareribs and the desserts, but both the service and some of the food left much to be desired. I'll be back soon for a second chance; let's hope for a better evening! Until then.

Lovely place! Amazing selection of vegan choices. And when we wanted to take the leftover fries with us, they wrote “enjoy” on the box. It’s these small gestures and tasty vegan food that made it so sweet!

The food was good. Everything was fresh. Someone could have come by more often. The staff was friendly, though. The spot where we sat near the bar wasn't very inviting.

The food was truly delicious. I've rarely seen so many delicious vegetarian dishes. As a non-vegetarian, it was even a gift. We did have to wait a very long time, and they didn't always acknowledge us. But I highly recommend it for the delicious food, and the story of Mr. Spinoza is still relevant today.

We had a three-course meal this evening with a group of about 15 people. The food was generally very good and beautifully presented. The veal schnitzel, for example, was delicious. The vegetables and sauces were also very tasty. Unfortunately, many people's sugar bread for dessert was burnt, which left a bitter taste. The spare ribs were cooked very well, but the barbecue sauce was incredibly overpowering. This made it so that some of us didn't enjoy it. The biggest drawback for us was the slow pace of service. It took an hour and a half for our starters to arrive. While serving the starter, a waitress dropped the herb butter from the bread board. It took over an hour for it to be cleared away, even though it was right behind one of the chairs. We ended up sitting for!!4 hours!! for three courses. We'd like to see that changed next time.

We had a wonderful evening here! Excellent food and very attentive and friendly staff. As soon as we were seated, they immediately brought a water bowl for our four-legged friend. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The Winter vegan burger with candied sauerkraut was delicious, as were our vegan desserts: Apple crumb trifle and the Dirty chai-spiced cake (see photos). We've eaten at Spinoza several times and have always been completely satisfied. The delicious food combined with the friendly staff makes it an absolute must-have. We will definitely be back!

The food was fine, but we felt a bit rushed. It was as if our table had been reserved for another time, meaning we had to eat quickly. Not exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant whose motto is "guests become friends." Besides, we had to sit at a high table, which is just not as comfortable. You can't even move your chair forward properly. All in all, we had higher expectations.

A wonderful restaurant perfect for dining as a couple, or even with family. The quality is excellent, especially the price-quality ratio for the children's menu! Friendly, professional service and a cozy (bistro/brasserie) atmosphere. You'll struggle to finish your plate, even without the starter! Highly recommended for a casual meal.

We'd eaten here before, but what a disappointment this time! I had fries and rendang for my main course, but they were covered in a bucket of curry sauce, making everything taste like cheap curry sauce. The rendang was like cat food in terms of chunks, making it taste like jarred meat. The carpaccio was also doused in a salty pesto sauce (I suspect also from a jar). I paid up very quickly and will never go back unless they replace the chef. Such a shame!

A portion of three small blini, probably one of the most unfortunate dishes I've ever eaten. It was absolutely dry, the filling was completely out of taste, and it's maximally average. The main course food was much better tho. The pork ribs were good, but the Japanese chicken was dry. I would have turned a blind eye to the tasteless blini if the restaurant had good service, which, unfortunately, is not the case. From the moment of ordering food, we waited for the appetizers for about 40 minutes, and the main courses in total for more than an hour. And also the waiter had to be reminded to bring us cutlery after they brought the food. That’s strange that the staff aren’t trained to do this. Also, it would’ve been nice if they had warned us that the food was delayed, or at least apologized for bringing the food late. Additionally, the restaurant wasn't even fully occupied, so I wouldn't attribute it to a "busy hours." Guys, when you go to an expensive restaurant, you expect good service and delicious food. And when that doesn't happen, you feel like you've been "robbed."

De sfeer is erg ongezellig. Kreeg carpaccio die niet goed was. De kleur was niet goed en de stonk. Hoe kun je dat niet zien. Hoelang stond dit al buiten de koeling? Terug gebracht, geen excuus. Helemaal niets! Eten was redelijk. Biefstuk medium gebakken was droog. Weet niet wat er bij hun in de keuken staat maar niet top. De drankjes duurden echt heel lang terwijl er 6 mensen in het restaurant zaten. De Spaanse koffie na het eten echt half uur gewacht.... Bij afrekenen aagegeven dat we niet helemaal tevreden waren maar ook niet vragen wat ging er mis. Had ik kunnen aangeven maar de zeer jonge bediening kon er ook niets aan doen. Geen aanrader!! Jammer want het was altijd geweldig.

Went for dinner once, the dinner was wonderfully prepared. However, the service very often forgot to bring the drinks. After this I went there 2 more times and we were not helped at all after 15 minutes. Unfortunately I got up twice and left and had dinner elsewhere

Had a wonderful meal with my husband yesterday. We were seated a bit early because of a show, which wasn't a problem. The staff were also very friendly. However, it was very busy and noisy, which made it impossible for my husband and me to have a proper conversation. Not that the restaurant can do anything about that, of course. Several tables were very noisy.

Undoubtedly recommended for vegetarians and vegans, because plant-based products are used in a very creative way. As a starter we had the vg vitello tonato and mustard soup. The celeriac-based vitello tasted very good in combination with the 'tuna' sauce. The mustard soup had a good taste. The main courses were also delicious. The 'beet steak' dish was very well prepared: beautifully flavored with gravy and seasonal vegetables. The shepherd's pie was also very tasty. The chocolate cake was a nice ending. I just didn't think the vegan vanilla ice cream was that successful, but that's more a matter of taste. The staff is friendly and the service fast. The atmosphere is friendly and it was pleasantly warm. The whole thing is pricey, but that is a reflection of the quality.

Op wandel in Leeuwaarden toevallig Spinoza tegen gekomen. Door het mooie interieur en de lekkere kaart gevraagd of we nog konden reserveren. Dit lukte nog net. Want inderdaad de zaak zat volledig vol ' s avonds. Wij hebben lekker gegeten van de kaart en vriendelijk bediend geweest. We sloten af met de proeverij van de chef.

The vegan food is delicious!! There are loads of vegan options, and they all sounded really good. Staff is also attentive. Definitely recommended!

Cozy and welcoming restaurant in the downtown area. With yummy and creative dishes: a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan options and generous portions. We both took the 3-course menu but neither of us had much room left for dessert. We can recommend everything we ordered: the vegan mustard soup, vegan vegetable stew, vegan vitello tonnato and the catch of the day (salmon steak with vegetables) plus a heaping helping of French fries. The vegan chocolate mousse was also a winner. Who needs animal products when there are so many great vegan options? Please consider opening a restaurant in other areas of the Netherlands in the future!

Had dinner here for the first time last night with my girlfriend to celebrate 1 year together. We had such a delicious meal, we kept talking about it. As a starter, a bread platter, then fish & chips and the brisket burger. Super quality and large portions. Dessert, the monchou cake... So then! Super thick, creamy and rich. We couldn't finish it and we are big eaters... Service was also great. Fast and attentive, friendly. Nice temperature also in the restaurant, not as hot as is often the case. All in all, we will definitely come back. A couple who were sitting outside looking at the menu also immediately said that they had to go inside because it was very tasty.

We came here without a reservation and luckily got a table straight away. The food - starter, main course, dessert - was very good throughout, and the wine was also very good. The staff was very attentive and friendly - we would definitely come back if we come to Leeuwarden again.

A nicely appointed room. A menu only in Dutch, so despite the sympathy of the waitresses, it is difficult to understand and choose. Unfortunately, Translate cannot perform miracles. I had a hamburger, rather hearty, tender meat and pleasant to the palate. The annoying thing when paying: we are asked whether we want change or not.... Each country has its own customs....

On August 16, 2024 we celebrated our wedding with a beautiful dinner and a great party at Spinoza! We met here 12 years ago and we couldn't think of a better location to celebrate our love. From the moment we indicated to Jan Willem and Ralph that we wanted to celebrate our wedding at Spinoza, we were helped with enthusiasm. They came up with great ideas, a beautiful menu and were open to all our decoration ideas. Nothing was too crazy. Jan Willem assisted us perfectly and the communication was great, we never had to worry about anything. Our love for Terschelling was incorporated into the dinner by the chef and this was reflected in every course during the dinner. This was so special for us. These were beautiful and delicious dishes that everyone enjoyed! The party was great, considering the space already has so much atmosphere, you don't need much and the courtyard also offers some cooling if you need it. But who also created the atmosphere were the staff members! Always cheerful, attentive, knowledgeable, thoughtful and she played so beautifully into the atmosphere during the party! They helped give us the best day of our lives! Thank you all dear!❤️

De kok was niet in staat om een medium rare steak te bereiden. De eerste steak ging retour keuken. De tweede steak was niet beter en bleef onaangeroerd liggen. Ter compensatie bood de serveerster een extra schaal patat aan terwijl daar nog een volle schaal van op tafel stond. Kennelijk was patat bakken wel een specialiteit van de kok. De groenten waren daarentegen verre van beetgaar. Vanwege de teleurstelling hebben we het dessert ook maar overgeslagen. De bediening was zeer vriendelijk. Het is ook een sfeervolle locatie. Jammer van het eten.

This place was recommended to me by someone who likes to take her visit to Spinoza. My criteria was that I could take my baby with me without feeling uncomfortable. You want everyone to have a nice evening. We had! The baby stole smiles from the staff and was amazed by the Christmas lights. We were able to eat in peace from a nicely divided menu in terms of vegetarian, vegan and meat. Everything just a little different, more thoughtful, than you are used to. The atmosphere was good and the staff very friendly. Is this already a concept? Leeuwarden hospitality.

Het menu is prima, niet geheel uitzonderlijk natuurlijk. Maar wat wel uitzonderlijk is, is dat ze een ontzettend smakelijk veganistisch menu hebben. Het is gedurfd dat ze daar zo nadrukkelijk aandacht aan besteden in vergelijking tot andere horeca gelegenheden in Leeuwarden.

In juli een heerlijke veganistische high tea gehad, het was meer dan voldoende: ik kon bijna rollend naar huis. Het eten is heerlijk en onbeperkte thee.

Geen goede ruimte, eten of bediening. Je merkt dat er weinig ervaring is onder personeel. Geen aanrader.

Een gezellige plek om te eten. Echter viel het eten heel erg tegen. We hadden de proeverij van voorgerechten omdat we daar veel lekkers zagen staan, we hadden gekozen voor niet Vega maar kregen vervolgens maar 1 gerechtje met vlees en de lekkere voorgerechten die we zagen zaten hier niet bij. Een ingelegde wortel werd hierbij geserveerd die niet eens op de kaart stond. Voor €15,- pp zeker veel te duur. Voor het hoofdgerecht kozen we beide biefstuk. Het vlees was oké maar de pastinaak stamppot zoals op de kaart ontbrak. De patat was lekker, maar daar kwamen we niet voor. Voor €100,- in totaal in deze tijd een zware domper. Bij het afhalen van de gerechten en het afrekenen is geen één keer gevraagd hoe het eten was om me de gelegenheid te geven om dit te melden.

Mooie keuze voor de vegetarier. De primitivo mag worden opgewaardeerd een beetje flets. Let op je planten de vitaliteit straalt af op je perfirmance.

Ik heb gister mijn 25e verjaardag gevierd bij Spinoza. Naast een super warm ontvangst, was alles tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Echt een aanrader voor ieder feestje of gelegenheid. 🥂

Prima eetcafé in hartje centrum Leeuwarden. Ik werd hier alleraardigst ontvangen. De kaart is niet heel bijzonder, maar mijn gekozen gerechten waren kwalitatief prima in orde (broodplankje vooraf en als hoofdgerecht Fryske pepersteak). Daarnaast hebben ze een leuke wijnkaart en bierassortiment. De sfeer was ook aangenaam en gezellig. Al met al geen slechte locatie voor als je in Leeuwarden bent!

Een gezellig eetcafe in Leeuwarden. Mooie en gezellige sfeer in een fijn ingericht cafe. Gastvrij personeel. Het eten is zoals je mag verwachten. Geen top, wel lekker. De prijs is zoals in de rest van de markt. Persoonlijk vond ik het iets de prijzig voor de kwaliteit. Maar gezelligheid kost ook wat. 😉. De chocolade bij de koffie kwam wat laat. Gelijktijdig zou beter zijn geweest. Ik was geen fan van de chocolade. Maar smaken verschillen. De haas stoofpot was lekker. En voor mensen die glutenvrij eten. Dat is prima geregeld en smaakvol.

Heerlijk gegeten en zeer prettig bediend! Gevraagd om een rustig plekje en deze was met zorg voor ons uitgezocht en gereserveerd.

Bij aankomst werden we niet geïnformeerd over het concept van de high wine. Er werd ons niet verteld welke gerechten en dranken we konden verwachten, en er werd ook niet naar eventuele allergieën of dieetbeperkingen gevraagd. Dit gebrek aan transparantie was zeer teleurstellend en zorgde ervoor dat we ons ongemakkelijk voelden tijdens de hele ervaring. De service liet ook veel te wensen over. Telkens wanneer we een vraag hadden of om assistentie vroegen, leek het personeel ons gewoonweg te negeren en voorbij te lopen. Na het ervaren van deze problemen besloten we ons ongenoegen te uiten bij de leidinggevende. Helaas was deze ontmoeting net zo teleurstellend als de rest van de avond. In plaats van ons serieus te nemen en proactief naar oplossingen te zoeken, maakte de leidinggevende van hun eigen problemen ons probleem. Er werd geen verontschuldiging aangeboden en er werden geen maatregelen genomen om de situatie recht te zetten. Het voelde alsof ons ongemak en onze teleurstelling volledig werden genegeerd. Hoewel we zeer teleurgesteld waren over de high wine-ervaring, moeten we eerlijkheidshalve onze complimenten geven aan de chef-kok. Het eten was van uitstekende kwaliteit.

Hele relaxte en leuke plek om te eten. Wij waren er op een regenachtige dag dus konden niet buiten zitten, maar binnen is ook erg knus ingericht. Zeer betaalbaar eten, erg lekker, goed op smaak, meer dan genoeg. Het is niet eens nodig een losse salade bij te bestellen.

Professionele staf en een uitmuntende selectie aan eten. Zelfs een apart vegan menu.

Uitstekende vegetarische alternatieven voor hoofd- en voorgerechten. Los erbij standaard friet, hetgeen een beetje teveel wordt als je de vegetarische paella bestelt. Mooie informele ambiance. Vriendelijke personeel. Prijs kwaliteit goed.
