Celebrating my wife's birthday. Ordered champagne. Request for champagne glasses was ignored. My dish was not served because it fell on the floor (so I was told). Had to order and wait for another dish. My wife's dish must have been oversalted several times. The cook in the open kitchen was throwing food around in disgust. Maybe he was joking? The dinner did not seem pleasant.

A cozy restaurant where the food is delicious. The service was also quick and responsive. We will definitely be back.

I had bought a cocktail and drinks platter with a friend through Social Deal. I wanted to make a reservation for the same day, but that was no longer possible. I also didn't know it was necessary. I could make a reservation for the same day through their own website. The voucher expired the next day, and I explained that I didn't know I needed to make a reservation and that I would contact them to see if something could be arranged. I also mentioned that I saw on the website that tables were still available for reservation at various times and that we wouldn't easily be able to reschedule our appointment, as we were both young families. The manager wasn't interested. We could come, but we wouldn't be allowed to use the voucher. The manager prefers other customers on Saturdays, and he couldn't make enough money from us. Sophia's is more focused on making money than providing service. It's a shame that when they have availability, they can't think about it. Someone will take the time to call tomorrow. The voucher expires tomorrow. We'll make an exception just this once. Too bad, I was looking forward to it, but now my impression of Sophia's has changed considerably. My girlfriend and I now happily go to another restaurant that focuses on the customer instead of the money, and luckily, the service at Social Deal is good, and I was able to cancel my voucher.

A quick stop because the bus was late for a cold beer. It was a bit disappointing that you couldn't pay in cash. It was possible, but then they had to break a ten-dollar bill at the neighbors' house.

Everything was delicious and perfectly fine. The only thing I would change is adding fresh sourdough bread instead of slices of factory-made bread to the bread dishes. But otherwise, nothing to complain about. The taste was good.

We booked lunch through a social deal on a hot summer day. We sat outside, but after a while, we weren't served. Then we saw a sign saying we had to order inside. Inquiry revealed that this section of seating falls under Nero. Strange, because the chairs were exactly the same. There was also no sign separating Sophia's from the neighbors. We sat elsewhere and were given a separate menu. According to the waitress, the deal included soup and bagel or sandwich, and fresh juice with coffee or tea. We chose fresh mint tea. It looked good, and the mustard soup was a generous portion. The bread and bagel were okay, and the meat croquettes were good. But we didn't get fresh juice, so we ended up asking for it ourselves; it had been forgotten. The waitresses were young, friendly, but we got the impression they didn't know everything. They even asked if we were going to pay. When we indicated that we had already paid, we were allowed to leave.

Last week, my best friend celebrated her birthday at Sophia's with 10 friends. She was really looking forward to it and had reserved a table a week in advance, asking if a bottle of champagne and a bottle of rosé could be chilled on the table upon arrival. She'd been promised this over the phone. My friend and I arrived at the agreed-upon time, and nothing had been set up. The man who greeted us was incredibly condescending and claimed to be too busy (mind you, there was a monkey and a horse head inside). My friend pointed out that a table had been promised outside with the ordered bottles. The man didn't appreciate this and took it completely lightly. He quickly set up a table outside, which was still completely covered with cushions, and the tables were still dirty and still had dishes on them from the day before. The man was completely uncooperative and unfriendly. The other staff, on the other hand, were very kind and helpful. This start to the birthday party left a bad taste in my friend and me. Such a shame.

I had a really bad experience at Sophia's on my birthday. I went to Sophia's with a group of 10 people to celebrate. We had reserved a table outside, and champagne and wine were supposed to be ready, but there was nothing. "Who wants to sit outside in this weather?" the bartender asked in an incredibly mean tone. I asked why he hadn't called to ask if they could set up a table inside. "I don't have time for that." We were then fobbed off to a table outside. However, it was still covered in dirty glasses and plates. "Your guests haven't arrived yet, have they?" As if it doesn't matter that you're just placed at a filthy table. No apologies. Nothing at all. The service was really nice, but this gentleman left such a bad taste in my mouth. I don't understand how people treat their guests like that. Never again will I go to Sophia's, even though I always enjoyed going there.

Ik kom met collega's regelmatig eten of borrelen bij Sophia's. Dat is altijd genieten. Deze week koos ik samen met een vriendin voor het cocktailarrangement; drie cocktails en een borrelplank. De borrelplank was royaal belegd met warme en koude hapjes. De bediening was goed en de het plekje in de zon op de loungebanken was superfijn. 😎 De cocktails waren lekker. Van mij mag er wat minder gecrushed ijs in en wat meer drank. 😉

Leuke lunchroom, ook erg mooi ingericht. In de Omer hebben ze een groot terras op de binnenplaats maar als je het niet weer loop je er zo voorbij. Wel erg duur!!

I've eaten here often, a regular customer. However, since the menu changes, I don't come here as often anymore, almost never. The portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up; I wonder why. The ingredients are also different, and the taste isn't as unique as it used to be. Such a shame. I hope that changes soon.

Voor een borrel is het een leuke plek. Leuk ingericht. Het eten vonden wij echter zeer matig. Mossels kreeg ik niet uit z'n schelp geplukt , het biefstuk was onder de warmte lamp gehouden. De koffie zou met zo'n enorm gemorste plas koffie op het schoteltje en dienblad , toch geserveerd worden. Wat wij weigerden. De keuze theezakjes summier en armoedig. Kies dan om verse thee te serveren. De red velvet taart erg droog, De meeste serveersters waren vriendelijk, bij 1 kon geen lach vanaf. Ik weet niet of de bediening een training krijgt , maar iets op tafel zetten en dat de gasten (we waren maar met z'n vieren).dat dan zelf door moeten geven , vind ik wat apart. Loop gewoon even naar die persoon toe om het wijntje aan te geven. Het gaat ook om de beleving. Wij willen best betalen, maar dan wel voor kwaliteit en het gevoel hebben dat je echt een avond uit bent. Die ervaring hebben wij helaas niet gekregen voor de € die wij hebben betaald.

Zeer vriendelijke bediening , alles was zoals gereserveerd. Wij betaalden met een QR code en dit was niet geheel bestudeerd door personeel maar we zijn er snel uit gekomen. Er zou alleen wat meer aandacht kunnen zijn voor t aanvullen van de drankjes, we hebben dit echter niet als storend ervaren. Eten was keurig verzorgt en iedereen heeft heerlijk gegeten. De ribeye was voor een ieder prima gebakken naar individuele wens!dat verdient wel een compliment. We hebben genoten en komen graag weer langs.

I have experienced so much noise pollution from this company… recently even until half past three in the morning. Because of that I could only sleep for two hours that night. I have reported this to Sophia’s several times, but little is done about it.

The food in this restaurant was quite expensive, but unfortunately not special at all. For these prices we would have expected at least something tasteful or creative, but that did not happen. What was particularly annoying was that we spoke to residents of the apartment complex on the inner garden. They indicated that they had been experiencing serious nuisance for a long time from parties and events of this restaurant, with extremely loud music and noise pollution, especially on the days that a 'DJ' is hired. It seems that the restaurant takes little to no account of the people who live right next door. A great shame, because a catering establishment in a residential area should consciously deal with its impact on the neighbourhood. In any case, we will not be returning. In terms of atmosphere, respect for residents and quality of food, this restaurant was very disappointing.

A great evening spent with colleagues. The food was rich in flavors and in terms of taste experience they followed each other well. The service was very friendly, with the bar preparing tasty cocktails and explaining everything clearly about the menu. We had plenty to talk about so it wasn't really annoying, although the first and last drinks could have come a little quicker. It is truly a luxury to dine here. The food looks stunning and offers an abundance of flavours. The service is great. However, personally I go here for the experience and not just the food. You must be happy with it.

On Liberation Day we wanted to have a drink in the evening so we decided to go to Sophias. When we entered we were ignored and had to ask ourselves if we could have a drink. Yes, fine, just pick a place, they said. Then ignored again for quite some time by the staff while there were plenty of them who were enjoying each other. No good evening, no attention and they didn't even pass the table. There were also 2/3 tables, all of which were noisy. It wasn't busy. There were more staff walking around than guests. The cook also just started eating fries from the bowl after making a hamburger with fries. Didn't look professional. So we just left. As we left, a bar employee looked at us in surprise. I then said that we had been there for a while but no one came by and that we were now going elsewhere. The bartender mumbled something, which I ignored and just walked out the door, at which point the bartender shouted BYE. We like to eat out or visit the catering industry, but this really hit everything. No more Sophias for us and I will certainly not recommend them to anyone.

Recently had dinner at this restaurant and it was a good experience! The dishes were all full of flavor and beautifully presented. You can taste that the food is cooked with care and quality. However, the portions were on the small side — something to take into account if you come with a big appetite. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and warm, a really nice place to sit. The only downside: the music was quite loud, which sometimes made it difficult to have a conversation. All in all highly recommended, especially for the gourmet!

Cozy bar restaurant with a warm and nice atmosphere. They serve many drink brands and have a lunch and a dinner menu. It is situated beside the central station. If your are with a car, you should pick one if the parking garages in the area to park your car. We ate here with a group of 8 people. We liked the atmosphere very much. The service was friendly but left us alone because they were too busy. The food looked pretty nice but not perfectly prepared. We found the chosen combination of ingredients and tastes a bit odd. I would qualify the food as a just enough. Conclusion: perfect bar to drink and to grab a bite if you really are hungry, but not to dine.

Super. The food is great, the service is friendly and very alert and prompt. The interior is beautiful and we couldn't think of anything to improve. Paid parking is available nearby. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Top.

Gelunched in dit grote en modern ingerichte restaurant. Heeft groot terras achter maar was me koud. Straalt wel wat chiques uit en trekt navenant publiek. Goede wijn en prima hamburgertje met helaas fabrieksfrieten. Prima plek verder.

Nachos were hard and dirty. And Crème fraiche was so dirty it wasn't crème fraiche it was pink!

Heerlijke plek met goede bediening voor een echt goed stuk lekker vlees. Gisteravond hebben we genoten van een heerlijk stuk dry aged cote de beouf, de echt een aanrader!

Bad service. We went to dinner together and were put in a kind of 'damn corner'. We said "as long as they don't forget us here". Unfortunately. After more than 30 minutes we received the menu for a first drink, and we immediately asked for the menu so that we could choose something. It took a long time to be served. It can be busy, but no communication from the staff. (Look, if you don't like your job, quit, but don't ruin your guests' evening.) Finally we are asked if we are ready for dessert, to which I answer that we have not yet had a main course. The waitress walks away and doesn't come back. After waiting another 40 minutes (on top of the time we had already waited), the main course was served. No apologies, no communication of any kind. This continued for the rest of the evening. We spent over 150 euros on a lot of fuss, unfriendly staff and unremarkable food. I would not recommend this restaurant. 24/3/2025 Update: I just received a call from Sophias with sincere apologies. In addition, I have been invited to a lunch on the house, as compensation and in the hope that they can make a better impression. It's nice that something is being done with the feedback and it's nice that they call back. I think it's fair to mention it here.

Unfortunately received poor service last Friday afternoon. A friend and I were sitting in the City Garden, where we ordered drinks via the QR code on the table. The drinks came quickly, but in the hour we were there we were asked 4 times if we wanted to order something, even though our glasses were still full and it was not busy on the terrace. We felt very rushed. When we walked away afterwards, we were chased in the street asking if we had paid. Of course we had that, you do this directly with a QR code order. There was also no apology from the staff for the theft accusation, just a sheepish look. Very unpleasant experience. Tip: do not work with a QR code system if your administration is not in order.

Slechte service. We gingen samen dineren en werden in een soort 'verdom hoekje' geplaatst. We zeiden nog "als ze ons hier maar niet vergeten". Na ruim 30 min kregen we de kaart voor drankjes, waarbij we gelijk ook naar de menukaart vroegen, zodat we iets konden gaan uitzoeken. Het duurde lang voordat er uitgeserveerd werd. Het kan druk zijn, maar vanuit het personeel geen enkele communicatie. (Kijk, als je je baan niet leuk vind, neem dan ontslag, maar verpest niet de avond van je gasten.) Uiteindelijk wordt gevraagd of we al toe zijn aan een dessert, waarop ik antwoord dat we nog geen hoofdgerecht hebben gehad. De serveerster loopt weg en komt er niet meer op terug. Na nog eens ruim 40 minuten wachten (bovenop de tijd die we al hadden gewacht) werd het hoofdgerecht alsnog uitgeserveerd. Geen excuses, geen enkele vorm van communicatie. De rest van de avond bleef dit zo gaan. We hebben ruim 150 euro uitgegeven aan een hoop poeha, onaardig personeel en niet bijzonder eten. Ik zou dit restaurant dan ook niet aanbevelen.

Nice place in center with good food and nice wines. Has a nice tartar fish starter and decent grilled fish as main. With a lit if fresh fries. Good white savignom from new zealand and great red from Austria. Good service was a plesant evening.

Goed eten, goede service. Maar de eigenaar was ook aanwezig, misschien was het personeel wel extra gemotiveerd , net als PSV in de Champions League. Maar wel voor herhaling vatbaar, checken we dan weer of de ervaring net zo goed was.

Naar mijn mening obv prijs kwaliteit verhouding, het beste restaurant rondom Leeuwarden. Zo kun je bij Sophias uiteten met een high level ervaring, tegen kosten die je bij iedere ander restaurant in de regio ook kwijt zal zijn.

Social deal vouchers geweigerd voor cocktails met borrelplank omdat we op dezelfde dag gereserveerd hadden op hun eigen website i.p.v. via Social Deal, waar reserveren op dezelfde dag blijkbaar niet mogelijk was. Wel waren we welkom te blijven om alsnog cocktails en een borrelhapjes te bestellen. Basically konden we precies hetzelfde doen als met de vouchers, maar we mochten dan niet met de vouchers afrekenen. Voelde nogal krom. We zijn dan ook niet gebleven.

A MOUSE! Last Wednesday I was going to have lunch with a friend and luckily we hadn't ordered anything yet because we saw a sweet little mouse walking past our table in the restaurant. Their reaction was very nonchalant, we had to be quiet so that other guests would not hear, the employee tried to catch the mouse with a bucket because another colleague had already caught a mouse in that way, so apparently it was already a known problem. We paid for our drinks and left, we received no apologies or anything. I see that they are now open again as if nothing is wrong, hence my review, so everyone is aware of this.

We ervoeren weinig oprechte aandacht en een wat rommelige bediening. De gerechten vonden we wat pretentieus; ze zagen er prima uit, maar waren aardig aan de prijs en teleurstellend vlak qua smaak. Al met al zeker niet slecht, maar ook niet voor herhaling vatbaar wat ons betreft.

EEN MUIS! Afgelopen woensdag zou ik gaan lunchen met een vriendin en gelukkig hadden wij nog niks besteld want wij zagen een lief klein muisje langs onze tafel lopen in het restaurant. Hun reactie was heel nonchalant, wij moesten zachtjes doen zodat andere gasten het niet zouden horen, de medewerker probeerde het muisje te vangen met een emmer want zo had een andere collega ook al een keer een muis gevangen dus blijkbaar al een bekend probleem. Wij hebben betaald voor onze drinken en zijn maar weggegaan, we kregen geen excuses niks. Ik zie dat ze nu ook gewoon weer open zijn alsof er niks aan de hand is vandaar mijn review zo is iedereen hier van op de hoogte.

Sophias is één van onze favoriete restaurants. Zoals altijd heel gastvrij ontvangen, heerlijke gegeten en een lekker wijntje. Inrichting is gezellig en het zit er echt fijn. Uiteraard komen we weer terug.

Wij hebben echt onwijs lekker gegeten en gedronken. Alles was goed verzorgd, lekker en er was ruim genoeg. Ontzettend vriendelijk personeel en een hele gezellige sfeer. We komen uit Den Helder, maar het was het helemaal waard!

Heerlijke plek om te borrelen en eten. Voor het eerst op de zaterdagavond. Eten is prima met verrassende smaken. Kogelbiefstuk enigzins taai, jammer. Zalm tataki heerlijk. Doordat het op een zaterdag was duurde het uitserveren langer dan wat wij gewend waren. Dus voor ons geen zaterdagavond meer. Des alnietemin een prima plek om heerlijk te eren

Unfortunately little to no service and after an hour's wait nobody took the order. There wasn't much going on, otherwise I would have understood waiting time, but like this? What a pity.

Nice atmosphere but unfortunately only incompetent employees. Sat there for 1 hour waiting to be served, asked several times if we could order food. We were ignored by the staff. In the meantime, the employees drank a café, ate themselves and just chatted. When we left without eating after an hour! , we were told “there was so much going on, that’s why it would take a while”…. Seldom have we seen such lazy employees.

Had the Halloween Hogj cocktails with friends yesterday, it was great! Service snacks service.. highly recommended.. we will definitely come again!

I had such a delicious meal here, had an appetizer beforehand and wow, what an explosion in my mouth 💥 almost tears of happiness, so refined and so good, then the main course was delicious, really great! The staff is super friendly, good explanation and very fast and clear when you want and expect it! We will definitely come here more often from now on!

Beautiful, open, cozy, fancy. Lotte served and is a great person, fast, cheerful and attentive. Food astonishingly good for that price. 25 for the brisket, really nicely made, if you compare what you get in an average restaurant for 25... in short: go!

After my youngest son's graduation ceremony, we had a drink at Sophias. A nice hip place to sit, just outside the city center. The service is smooth and friendly. When we had to pay we were shocked! Too expensive in relation to what you get and the quality. That's why only three stars.

Heerlijk geborreld in de verrassend mooie binnentuin. Je krijgt er spontaan een vakantiegevoel. Het diner, een viergangen verrassingsmenu, hebben we binnen genuttigd en was lekker. Binnen ziet het er ook erg mooi uit. De bediening was vriendelijk.

We kozen voor een 3 gangenmenu. Dus niet een volledig menú, voor friet (€6) en seizoensgroente(€9) moest betaald worden. Voorgerecht (zalm) had weinig smaak. Hoofdgerecht was Brisket. Langzaam gegaard rundvlees. Dit was taai, en een klein en dun stukje. Na aangeven dat we hier niet blij mee waren werd er een biefstuk voor ons bereid. Die was prima. Bij afrekenen bleek dat de friet en groente niet betaald hoefde te worden. Al met al goed opgelost. Wij zijn over het algemeen niet van het klagen en vinden het erg vervelend dat het nu nodig was, omdat er sprake was van een bijzondere reden om uit eten te gaan. Eerder hebben we hier uitstekend gegeten, wat voor ons de reden was bij dit restaurant te reserveren. Dit zullen we op basis van deze ervaring niet weer doen.
