Had a delicious meal last night! As a Celiac patient, I was given a separate set of dishes, which I really couldn't finish.

Had a delicious meal in a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, we arrived at the same time as a large group of cyclists, which meant the staff had to work very hard. She really did her best... So we had to wait a bit longer than usual. That's why it just missed 5 stars.

It is lovely to sit here; the terrace is very nice and pleasantly decorated. The food is always delicious, with funny descriptions of the names.

What a cozy spot for a delicious meal! The menu is extensive, but we opted for the "five times around" menu. This gave us five courses with different dishes. Every single dish was surprising and very tasty. The staff is super friendly. We highly recommend eating here. We had a fantastic evening!

We had a delicious 5-course meal. There were 7 of us. It was a successful evening, though the only downside was that we were seated at a slightly too small table; it was a bit cramped.

We went to you for the first time last night with friends. We really enjoyed it, the food was delicious and the service was very friendly. We will definitely come back again, greetings from the Kolkman family.

Super...had a really delicious flammkuchen. And my son's "uitsmijter" (fried eggs) was also a hit. All for a reasonable price. Fast, polite service. Nice restrooms, too, by the way. They even provided small cotton towels that you can put in the "laundry basket" after use. Excellent.

After a bike ride, I settled down on the terrace of Smoks in Zelhem. Since I was planning to have dinner there, I thought I'd check it out. After being asked if I wanted a drink, I was immediately asked if I was staying for dinner. I didn't. The drink I ordered was casually served in a glass; the bottle wasn't served, and it was placed on the table without a filter. Unfortunately, I didn't feel welcome, and I also had the feeling that after paying for an expensive drink, they'd rather see me leave. So I did, and I've decided not to have dinner there and will have my drink at a different terrace next time.

A while ago we had already eaten at restaurant De Smoks, then at a table in the restaurant and the service, atmosphere and food were great! Last night we went for dinner with four people. It was 26° outside, so we first thought of sitting inside, but everyone was sitting outside. First we looked for a spot in the conservatory, but with 26° it was quite subtropical, so we asked to eat outside on the terrace. "No problem, plenty of room, just find a table, we will come to you." So we sat and ate wonderfully on the terrace, were spoiled again and great service and hospitality! A nice and cozy experience, highly recommended!

Fantastic place for a nice meal and drinks! De Smoks has an attractive, cozy atmosphere and an extensive menu with something for everyone. The dishes are deliciously prepared, well-seasoned and beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel really welcome. The service is smooth and the portions are generous. In addition, the tap is well maintained, ideal for a nice drink with friends or family. Whether you come for lunch, dinner or just a drink, De Smoks is highly recommended. I will definitely come back here more often!

As usual, very "gezellig". Nice 'Wegwiezers' (deepfried mushrooms) for a starter. Followed by a very tasty steak, and if you want it blue you'll get it blue ;) My favourite dessert: 'Zuut pötje' (creme brulee)

This restaurant's "competitor" is De Groes, across the street, with a large round terrace in the sun. When eating out, as a customer you always have the choice between (among others) these two restaurants. If you choose De Smoks, you choose delicious food, good side dishes and the food is served very nice and original (nice pans, beautiful plates, planks, etc.), it just looks very nice and fun. I also think the quality of the furnishings is excellent (well-fitting chairs, nice sturdy tables, cozy patio chairs, etc.), a real investment has been made in this. I also think that this restaurant handles the reviews very well and seriously, even the less positive ones (to the extent that there are any...). I think this is very commendable and, in my opinion, says something about the passion for the profession and the drive to be hospitable. to be. The owner is almost always present himself, this strikes me. Friendly employees. Make a reservation, because it's always busy! Good price-quality ratio. The downside I always find here is the cramped space upon entering and paying, the bar with cash register is right in front of the entrance, just irritating. Addition in response to your response: certainly, I understand, you seem to complement each other, hence the quotation marks for competitor (both restaurants are always busy).

After a beautiful stage of the Pieterpad we settled in Zelhem for a well-deserved meal at Eeterij and Tapperij De Smoks. What an atmospheric place! We started with a delicious mustard soup, which was not only tasty, but also served in an original way. The menu made us smile, with dishes written in the local dialect – a nice twist! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasantly busy, and we left the restaurant satisfied and happy. The Smoks is highly recommended after a long day of walking!

From the estate t Sikkeler we went here by bike...in any case a very nice route through the forest...We drank a few delicious local beers (blond) and some excellent wines.... as a starter (on the advice of the amiable host) a tasting for 2 people (bruschetta with tomato onion salsa, fried mushrooms with garlic sauce, sandwich with smoked fish... fresh salad and much more... then for one pork tenderloin tips and pork tenderloin pieces and spare ribs and pork belly for the other.... The host had everything perfectly under control and the service was attentive and very friendly....

Today June 20, 2024 we had a delicious meal. Both a main course. Super tasty, had 4 types of meat but everything was perfectly prepared. Had a delicious meal yesterday. A casual atmosphere in an accessible ambiance. Also a great card with many possibilities. I ordered a ribeye and my table companion something else. In my opinion the ribeye could be baked a little longer so I asked if that was a possibility. The owner unceremoniously offered to simply offer a new piece of meat and it tasted excellent and well prepared. Add a nice glass of wine and enjoy. What I found entertaining about the menu was that the dishes were on the menu in the dialect. And afterwards: the grand dessert! Also for 1 person. I knew that... wonderful!!! Beautifully laid out, a feast for the eyes. I'd love to go there again... if I'm invited again 😉 when I'm in the area. Spent a few wonderful hours in great company and in one attractive restaurant. The quality of the food was fine. But the total package was not as agreed in advance. The appointment was a brunch buffet: it was not a buffet. It also took a very long time before we could eat. A small dessert buffet was supposed to be included, but because everything took so long, not everyone was present. We also didn't understand why the waiter asked if we wanted any desserts: wouldn't that automatically be included? An allergy and wishes for some sweet toppings had been forgotten to be taken into account. The price per person had also gone up in the time between making an appointment and brunch itself. It would be nice to let you know in advance. There has indeed been a very thoughtful response to this review! 👍🏻

How lucky that we found a place to eat at the very last minute with a group of 12 people. Surprised that I was called to discuss the starting time because we had an excursion after dinner. Very nice welcome and super cozy setting for our group. The biggest plus for me was the thinking along, the feeling that everything was possible without grumbling and of course the delicious food! We enjoyed it and are very grateful for the great service and the delicious ice cream-to-go.

De Smoks in Zelhem is a charming place in this picturesque village. We were welcomed by a funny menu with nice Achterhoek descriptions, which gave a nice twist to our experience. Although we only had a few drinks, we were impressed by the very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. We heard that they are setting up a deli and are looking forward to opening in mid-2025, where we can hopefully enjoy delicious vegetables, cheeses, meats and ready-made meals. We will definitely come back!

We had a delicious meal here with a fairly large group. We had a so-called 'preuverije', various small starters, various meat/fish dishes and a varied dessert. All equally tasty and generous portions and lots of choice. The service was very friendly and pleasant. Had a very successful evening

It is a very cozy and atmospheric restaurant. Renovated to meet today's requirements, including sound-absorbing measures on the ceiling. It is nicely located on the village square with church. The service is very pleasant, attentive and certainly not pushy. The menu is very extensive! The food is just good and nice in quantity. Highly recommended!
