Nice shop with a lovely terrace, high price level

A quick bike stop for coffee and a snack on the terrace. The coffee was delicious. The apple pie: a small, flat piece with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream. The bill: 26 (!) euros for 2 people. Unfortunately, only this restaurant was open on Mondays.

I regularly eat here with family and/or friends. They have an extensive menu, including vegetarian options (they could use more). The food and desserts are always delicious. The price/quality ratio is excellent, and I always find the staff very friendly. Highly recommended if you're in the area, even just for a drink on the terrace.

Delicious food with very friendly service

Celebrated my birthday with our sons (who work in hospitality) and their girlfriends. Everything was perfect. From the best prosecco I've ever tasted to the excellent coffee. ...and all that on a Monday evening. It felt (and tasted) like a mini-vacation in Italy. We'll definitely be back!

Lovely place where you can relax.

Price quality not okay, for what we got it was way too expensive.

We received a warm welcome from the staff and the owner/manager on the spacious terrace adjacent to the beautiful building. My girlfriend and I enjoyed two generous, delicious dishes and a delicious dessert. The wine was also generously poured. All in all, a very successful experience – definitely worth repeating if we're ever in the area again.

This restaurant is TOP. We had a special request and that is also possible in this nice restaurant. We let ourselves be surprised by the chef. The only thing we wanted was pichana in Italian style. Well I can say that this was a super success. Also the tasting of starters and desserts was in one word great. Thanks again for the hospitality and the delicious food!!

I am a huge fan of this nice restaurant in the Achterhoek. A really nice place, with especially delicious food. I have eaten here with different groups and everyone has been very enthusiastic so far. A real recommendation if you are looking for a place where they serve real Italian dishes.

Unfortunately the dishes are not as before. The Penne with Vodka had little taste little chicken and no bacon anymore the Vodka not tasted. The Spaghetti was also dry and not very tasty. Carpaccio was delicious on the other hand the tuna carpaccio very little on the plate. Dishes have really deteriorated very unfortunate location is fine.

Surprisingly good Italian restaurant for a small Dutch little town

We won't come here anymore, hospitality is clearly different for local residents. Shame, good food (we often came here when we are in the Achterhoek) but now poor service/reception. Booked 1 week in advance, you will be placed at a 4-person table with 5 adults and a high chair. We had to wait a really long time before the first drink was taken. People who came in after us were served immediately. . When serving, the staff indicates that it is a bit tight. We thought so too. After a long wait and having already finished the plates, we asked for a second drink. The neighbors at our table enjoyed it, it was an 8 person table, clearly not. Our apologies for that. The separation was created with a vase of flowers. The little one (13 months) became a bit difficult and noisy, asking if we could order dessert a little faster. received the card for dessert, quickly made a choice, the recording went the same as with the drinks. Recording the dessert ultimately took too long. And we decided to pay without dessert. It's a shame for this beautiful place with delicious food to be treated so poorly as guests! When we left we were simply laughed at by a member of staff, it was really that bad.

It's been a month since we celebrated our wedding here with a wonderful 8-course dinner. This culinary journey through Italy was accompanied by fantastic wines. What a party! The passion for hospitality, delicious food and drinks shines through. Highly recommended!

A wonderfully atmospheric restaurant. The honest ingredients are prepared and served with passion. We enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner with our 9-year-old son. We will definitely go here again when we are in the area. This restaurant will definitely be on our list of favorites, simply great!!

As a carbonara lover you can eat a delicious version here where the portion is just right. The taste is really great and other dishes, such as pizza, also look very good. The location is really ideal

On a Wednesday evening it is quiet in the tastefully decorated restaurant. We receive a friendly welcome and can choose a table ourselves. We both order a glass of Primitivo and it is delicious (a second glass follows). We start with a Bruchetta 'mix' as a starter and it is delicious. A selection with Anchovies and butter, Zucchini and meat salad. As a main course we both chose the Papadelle with truffle and mushrooms, also excellent! Homemade Papadelle, pine nuts, tasty mushrooms and truffle. Sprinkled with grated Parmesan. A home-made Teramisu completes a tasty dinner. The price of just over €100 for the entire dinner is appropriate. Every now and then you come across a restaurant where everything is just right!

August 2024 We ended our wonderful week in the Achterhoek with a delicious dinner at Municipio. What a wonderful surprise. Very attractively decorated restaurant with a nice terrace. And what a delicious meal we had. Beautiful dishes, delicious in taste and beautifully served. Excellent service. The love for Italian cuisine is evident. This restaurant alone is a reason for us to come back to the beautiful Achterhoek. Great!! Addition January 2025 We had another weekend in the Achterhoek, so we decided to eat at Municipio again. This time, of course, not on the terrace, but inside the very tastefully and attractively decorated restaurant. It was once again a great success. A nice varied menu with fine Italian dishes. The cooking here is very good. We once again had a delicious meal and enjoyed the nice atmosphere and pleasant service. Unfortunately, there is no other option than to find an excuse to head to Achterhoek as quickly as possible.

Hands down the best pizza I've ever eaten.

Me, my mother and brother happened to be driving by and thought we could have dinner here around Sinterklaas. Reservations were easy online. All 3 of us had a delicious meal, the service was good, and the atmosphere was also pleasant, the decoration of the restaurant also provided atmosphere. Enjoyed it, in short, worth repeating!

Fantastic meal! The grilled chicken in Sicilian sauce was exceptional. Highly recommended! You notice the passion for food in every dish, while the wines and a special cocktail are also really good.

Super tasty food, very friendly and helpful staff and a cozy homely atmosphere. This restaurant has been here for 1.5 years and we had heard many good stories. The pizza base was very tasty, crispy and not dry at all. A misunderstanding about my order between me and the kitchen was neatly resolved with a replacement pizza. My dining companion's food was also very tasty! The wine was great, the dessert was truly a great dessert! We will definitely come here more often 🍕🍝😃

A very nicely decorated restaurant, where it is noticeable that a lot of care has been put into everything. It transcends the mediocre experience in the average pizzeria. We ate tomato soup here which was very fresh, fresh and tasty. Then cannelloni, which was also particularly tasty. The presentation is also beautiful, beautiful plates, beautiful cutlery, etc. The dessert, a lemon tart, was visually a work of art, as was the taste; fresh and sour, not too sweet. Was presented with cream, ice cream, a golden berry, fresh fig, piece of strawberry. We will come back next time with the family to try more dishes. Definitely recommended.

When you enter the place smells like cheese. Bruschetta, tomatoes were nearly white, no seasoning. Vitello Tonnato, bland. Pizza, they should change their dough recipe. It is too tough. We couldn’t finish none of the pizzas. 16 euro pizza I expected better.

Italian enjoyment: Tasty and cozy, with room for refinement We recently visited this cozy Italian restaurant for a night out. We started with a tasty mixed vegetarian bruschetta, followed by two delicious pizzas: one with spicy salami that was surprisingly tasty, and a vegetarian variant generously topped with tasty vegetables. The food was good across the board, without really being of culinary excellence. The desserts and coffee afterwards were excellent and rounded off the meal nicely. The friendly and spontaneous service contributed to a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant had a nice buzz, although it was sometimes a bit noisy. The tables were quite close together, which limited privacy somewhat. The decor was surprisingly un-Italian, simple but attractive. A striking detail were the paper tablecloths placed over the damask tablecloths. Although practical, this does not do justice to the appearance of the restaurant. Removing this paper layer could immediately improve the atmosphere and bring it more in line with the quality of the food and service. In terms of price-quality ratio it is good. The dishes are tasty and the prices are reasonable for what is offered. All in all, this restaurant offers a pleasant Italian dining experience for a fair price. With some minor adjustments, such as addressing the acoustics, rethinking the table layout and showcasing the beautiful damask tablecloths, the overall experience could be improved. Nevertheless, it is already a great choice for those who fancy a nice Italian meal with good, authentic dishes.

Lovely Italian atmosphere and very friendly service. We had high expectations because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, these were only partially fulfilled. We had the arancini as an appetizer. However, the risotto was cooked for too long and the balls themselves far too soft. There was also no mozzarella inside for the 'suplie al telefono' effect. As a starter we had the vitello tonato, which was tasty. As a secondary, a pasta that was too 'al dente' and therefore tasted doughy. The truffle sauce was perfect. The cod and grilled vegetables were also excellent, although the sauce could have been a bit spicier, but that's a matter of taste. At an Italian restaurant we actually expect chiabatta instead of baguette and home-made limoncello. In short, there is some room for improvement.

The service and in particular the tall man serving can provide advice with passion and great expertise. In short...not just any restaurant. Our 2 weeks at camping Wiemelinkhof ended with a great visit to this restaurant. In short, this restaurant is highly recommended. All compliments to brother and sister, but certainly also to the service team and the culinary brigade in the kitchen. Ended up here in the spring during my cycling holiday. What a nice terrace and truly delicious Italian food. If I'm in the area again, I'll eat here again, great.

Tastefully decorated, excellent wine/menu, veal with Parma ham excellent choice. Also the lunch with omelette with chicken etc. Excellent choice. Will definitely come back when the occasion arises (holiday). Possibly with the dachshunds.

Aided by beautiful weather, we enjoyed a fantastic lunch: a mega t-bone steak. Ideal for the modern carnivore diet... And a very warm lady who received us made the party complete! We'll be back here!!

Had a delicious meal at this Italian. Nice young girls in the service. An older blonde lady was the least pleasant, did not have a nice chat and came to our table 3 times to check if we already knew what we wanted to eat, while we were just having an aperitif. Tables inside are close together. What they have to pay attention to here is that people come for an evening out and want to have a nice, quiet dinner. All courses were served very quickly one after the other. We really thought less of that. You could tell that they wanted to fill the tables twice in one evening. Hope they do something about our tip.

Mediterranean atmosphere in the middle of the Achterhoek. Best coffee in the village with homemade favorite cookie (yum cantuccini) and one extra if my toddler demands one 😎🫣🥳 And also very relaxed and comfortable in a Mediterranean atmosphere with good Italian flavors!

Ended up here on the recommendation of someone. Received a very hospitable welcome without a reservation! Delicious prosecco and a starter for two people with all kinds of meat, cheese and fish snacks. Curious about the rest of the menu led us to a delicious experience with the ossabucco and pasta vongole. Sublime! We have added addresses! 👍🏻

Have used something inside before, super good. Now rest after a bike ride on the empty terrace except for one person. After fifteen minutes of rest, we were back on the road. Unfortunately no service so no food or service seen. 3 stars as goodwill.

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of the B&B owner. Friendly and especially quick service, nice place on the terrace. Delicious risotto balls as an appetizer, after which we enjoyed the cannelloni and tagliatelle. We couldn't skip dessert after reading reviews, so of course the tiramisu was amazing and the delicious pistachio ice cream cake. If we are in the area, we will definitely come again. This restaurant is a winner.

On a warm summer evening I felt like I was in fantastic Italy, on a terrace in Hengelo Gld! A beautiful wine list, buttery soft cod with a deliciously spicy sauce, pasta as it was meant to be, a fine limoncello semifreddo and scroppino to finish. All this combined with very friendly staff with humor makes for a perfect relaxing evening! I will return!

Yesterday I ended up completely unexpectedly on the terrace of Trattoria Municipio. First I had a delicious Italian non-alcoholic drink, after which I couldn't resist ordering spaghetti alla Vongole. This one was absolutely AMAZING; sufficient vongole and completely sand-free and not over-cooked. Spaghetti was al dente and deliciously prepared with parsley, garlic, good oil, etc. Including finger bowl. Wow I was so happy! Rarely tasty. 1 tip…..if it is soooo good, serve the pasta with a spoon and fork instead of a knife and fork. The service was very good, relaxed and extremely service-oriented... in every respect! Last Monday we, 3 ladies, settled down on the terrace of Trattoria Municipio. And then the trouble started 😜, because how on earth do you choose the tastiest from all those goodies on the menu? It took a while before we decided what to eat. In the end I chose the arancini and the pasta with shrimp. Definitely don't regret it. We didn't really want dessert because we were full. But yes, I had already said if there was Tiramisu on the menu...so just a look at the menu was enough. It was at the top, so I decided to give it a go, we'll share it with the three of us. We found it very pleasant, great atmosphere, extremely friendly staff, and very tasty food, I hope the other visitors did not go crazy with our Brabant and Gelderland chatter. We would love to come back again

Very nice and nice reception! Nice service. The dishes were really great! The Ossobuco was one of the best I've ever had and the spaghetti (side dish) was deliciously al dente. Good coffee with an excellent tiramisu for dessert. The meringue cake with hazelnut cream was the best! In short, we had a great time for a perfect price/quality… We will definitely come back from Hengelo Overijssel!!

Food is good, really tasty But not 100% Italian. We do find the side dishes on the expensive side, 5-5.50 euros for a small bowl of lettuce or some vegetables, potatoes. Very nice people, nice coffee too

Had a wonderful dinner tonight with our daughter's family. Delicious pasta, excellent pizza, nice atmosphere and good service. Another tip for parents with young children: also offer smaller portions. Now we ordered adult meals for the little ones aged 5 and 8. We will definitely come back again!

Zeer sfeervolle, stijlvolle en in hartje centrum gelegen restaurant in het oude klassieke gemeentehuis van Hengelo Gelderland. Een prachtig pand met sfeer en allure. De uitbaters voeren dit restaurant met passie uit. Zijn zeer vriendelijk en sociaal. De keuken is goed, het eten is van uitstekende kwaliteit en goed op smaak. De menukaart is niet overladen, en juist goed opgezet. De wijnkaart is ook echt een pluspunt en divers. Evenals het overige aanbod van dranken.

Vanavond erg lekker gegeten bij Trattoria Municipio. Wij zijn Italië liefhebbers, maar de mensen die hier werken, koken en serveren ademen dat dubbel op. Bij het toetje vroeg men of wij dit wilde delen? Dat is in Nederland niet gebruikelijk. Vaak kijkt men dan raar aan. Hier in dit restaurant is dat normaal. Zoals dat ook in Italië kan en gaat. Ook de voorgerechten en de pasta's zijn van een uitmuntende kwaliteit. De volgende keer komen wij terug om de Iberico wang te proeven. Erg gezellig, hartelijk en gastvrij. Dank voor deze gezellige avond. Tot een volgende keer!

Heerlijke avond met kinderen en kleinkinderen. Eten was prima, leuke voor-tussen gerechten. Hoofdgerechten uitstekend, was de vis vers?? Hele leuke bediening ook voor de kleinkinderen. Komen zeker terug als de nieuwe kaart (?) Er is.

Heerlijk echt Italiaans gegeten samen met mijn dochter en haar aanstaande. De Gambaroni is een aanrader. Je waant je echt even in Italië!

Heerlijk gegeten met mijn vriendin en baby. Lekker op een Hollands tijdstip, dus over de echte sfeer kan ik weinig zeggen. Ik hoopte op traditioneel Italiaans i.p.v. een Hollandse pizzeria en dat bleek het gelukkig ook te zijn. Mooi opgemaakte en smaakvolle gerechten. De pizza’s zagen er overigens ook veelbelovend uit, maar ik zou in dit geval aanraden iets anders te bestellen of gerechten te delen (daar kan dan natuurlijk ook een pizza bij;)) Een stukje Italië in de achterhoek is wat ons betreft wel gelukt.
