my go to place in groningen,pictured the tenderloin sandwich and the lamb and beef sandwich are just perfect and the beef and lamb stew is also absolutely delicious.

It was delicious! Each dish had a unique and pleasant flavor. A real success despite the wait, as the place was packed. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I recommend the traditional tea, which comes with a teapot that makes 4 cups, and the harira soup, which is perfect for cold days. We will definitely be back!

The food was truely incredible and it’s such a vibe.

We had a wonderful meal on the terrace and really enjoyed it. Choosing was a bit difficult, as there's so much delicious food on the menu. Definitely worth going back. I recommend always ordering hummus with it; it's so delicious!

Good food, sometimes you have to wait a bit longer during peak hours. But the service is definitely not lacking, and the food is worth the wait three times over!

A wonderful discovery in beautiful Groningen. The service is very relaxed and leaves you confused for a while (will they come to your table or should I order somewhere?), but once you adjust to the pace, it's actually quite okay. With a well-filled Maida salad and Metze salad, accompanied by delicious smoothies, we had a delicious lunch at a restaurant I highly recommend.

First of all the food is fantastic. Delicious flavours and not everyday especially the sandwich with kofta was a feast for the taste buds!! The atmosphere was a bit less, I missed some music in the background! Also the service at the table could have been a bit more enthusiastic!

What a lovely place and the food is just amazing. It was so quick and I wasn’t expecting much, but this is worth the money. I’m glad we made reservations, and if we’re back in Groningen we’ll for sure be back. The lamb wrap is super flavourful. And the mocktails are also really good and inexpensive.

Love the decor, the waiters are very polite and friendly and the food is well spiced, fresh and very tasty. Only minus point - the radicchio is extremely bitter, so it ruined the salad and I had to pull it out of my halloumi wrap. Overall- highly recommended and I'll definitely come back. Edit: Removing a star because the waiting time is extremely long every time we come here.

Best breakfast in Groningen, and for a cheap price!

Gereserveerd voor hightea en we kregen humus , babaganosh, gebakken aubergine en falafel met stokbrood en als drinken muntthee met een blaadje in elke glas. Geen zoetigheid wat wel bij de hightea hoort. We hebben babystoel gevraagd en die zo vies zo vies als grofvuil.

Grote teleurstelling. Lauwwarme soep met een droog plakje stokbrood. Hele vieze wc. Niet meer wat het in het begin was helaas. Heel jammer. Ga er niet meer eten.

This restaurant tastes and smells delicious, activist and accommodating. While the service can be a bit slow, you can engage with your surroundings and travel around the Maghreb and Orient with the amazing decoration and posters. If you are lucky enough to sit next to the open kitchen, then the experience becomes more unique and ASMR as you see the cooks slicing the veggies with so much confidence, preparing other amazing dishes. The floor staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food literally transports you to the Maghreb and Syria. The Mediterranean sandwich is perfect for those who love figs (it has feta cheese, figs, fig jam both in the sandwich and in a bowl and pistachios), although for me a fig enthusiast it was lacking some other ingredients (maybe aubergine?) as the feta cheese was the most predominant ingredient both in taste and quantity. The chicken sandwich was super tasty and slightly spicy with a generous quantity of chicken. The accompanying veggies in the dishes taste super fresh. The traditional mint tea was also very traditionally well-served from high and had no added sugar - and still tasted amazing. Due to allergies, they had to take my dish back as it had nuts I can't eat (and which the cooks had mistakenly added despite it not being part of the menu) but the staff were very responsive and prepared me a new dish very quickly. The vibe is great, laid-back and very activist-friendly, very necessary in these times. The prices are inexpensive and very fair for what you get. We'll definitely be back.

Another of the exciting, individual and authentic restaurants that are so typical of Groningen. North African and Levantine dishes are served here. What we ordered was laid out very attractively on the plates and tasted excellent. Inside I was reminded of my last trip to Morocco: the photos on the wall, the tables and chairs, the winding rooms, the tiny, cramped toilet. And finally we were served very friendly. It was a pleasure for us to dine here.

The staff was friendly, although the service was a bit slow, but it didn't bother us at all. As far as I know, they're only open for lunch and don't take reservations, so keep that in mind. I'll definitely be coming back!

I had a delicious meal here!! The waitress Toska was extremely friendly and helpful. She was always ready with a joke and a chat. The other service was also certainly spontaneous. I haven't enjoyed myself this much in a long time.

food was always amazing, still is! Great place to sit, and great owners. However, the service has gone very bad. No one came for a while. Had to ask for utensils twice, no napkins on the table. Asked for a coffee before food. The food arrived before, then i asked to postpone the coffee for after food, and to have a cola instead. That also never came. I went to pay and the coffee (which i cancelled) was waiting on the tray, and the cola. I then told the girl working there i dont want the drinks anymore as we already ate and it took too long, to which i got the reply “15 minutes for a soft drink is not long”… while the bar is 2 meters from the table… always loved the place, hopefully the manager reads this as im sure thats not the mentality and service you wish to project to your restaurant . the table next to us also complained, all the while it wasnt busy at all

Delicious food, but it took a while before we had our lunch! So don't go completely hungry. But the hummus and the plates were wonderfully authentic and full of oriental flavors.

The food here is really tasty but the service really leaves much to be desired. Very long waiting times and the server's mind is elsewhere. Unfortunately, this is no exception. Would have liked to become a regular customer here, but after a few experiences I now prefer to ignore this place.

After shopping I went to El Maïda with a friend. The restaurant looks very nice and cozy, the menu is great. Unfortunately my food went wrong. I indicated that I am allergic to onions and that they should not be in my food. I have eaten there before and they also took this into account. They would pass it on to the kitchen when ordering. Then discovered an onion with the last bites of the wrap. Unfortunately I had almost finished it. When I reported this to the staff, there was little response and they said that they would pass it on to the kitchen. I then indicated that hopefully it was only that part because otherwise it would have made me quite ill; There was also little response to this, only a short apology. The employee did not come back to it when we left. Also no compensation or anything like that was offered. Unfortunately, I had a severe allergic reaction shortly after eating.

Was here for the first time. We ate delicious labneh again, super fresh, beautifully decorated, really value for money 👍🏼. Sympa operation too. The place was completely full but everything went well.

Very good food! Too bad we had to wait at least an hour... it was extremely busy due to the holidays and several people were also sent away. We were lucky to have a free table. Staff did not expect this on a normal Wednesday and therefore fell short. That was a shame, because besides the long wait and wrong order (I got the wrap instead of the burger), the food was very good. I got a 10% discount for these inconveniences, which was really nice. Some tips: if it is so busy, indicate that it will take longer and provide some flatbread or something similar on the table while you wait, this will save you time and a good mood. The falafel burger was divine. Just like the eggplant sandwich, super soft, but very spicy! You have to beckon a lot, the staff doesn't come to the table quickly, the drinks also took a long time, which took some time to get through with the spiciness 🥵, but that was probably due to the crowds. It is very cozy, the staff is super friendly, the food is tasty and I will definitely come back on a quieter day.

I was excited to try the tajine doebara as it sounded really good on the menu, but was surprised and disappointed at how little flavour there was. It honestly tasted like eating chickpeas straight from a €2 can… The server, however, was lovely and had no problem swapping it for another dish. The magreb chicken sandwich, in contrary to the tajine, was delicious and flavourful with the spicy chicken and fresh, crispy bread. The food was served very soon after we ordered and it was piping hot! They also serve breakfast around lunchtime, so i would assume they do so all day long. My grandmother got the msemmen pancakes which, according to her, were very good, especially paired with the fresh fruit they serve with it. The cappuccino is also really nice, and can be made vegan. El Maïda, in general, has lots of plant-based items on the menu.

Na het zoeken naar een locatie voor authentieke culinaire ervaringen in Groningen, ben ik gestuit op dit unieke restaurant. Het eten is buitengewoon smakelijk, de gerechten ogen zeer kleurrijk en vers. Samen met mijn gezin heb ik van een genoeglijke maaltijd kunnen genieten. Het staat vast dat ik bij mijn verblijf in Groningen regelmatig dit etablissement zal bezoeken. Het is ten zeerste aan te bevelen voor wie op zoek is naar authentieke culinaire verwennerij.

Enorm populaire locatie met een zeer acceptabele kaart en dito eten. Gelet dat het relatief goedkoop is en derhalve het er behoorlijk druk zijn wat de wachttijden natuurlijk niet ten goede komt maar desondanks was de Kofta wrap schotel die ik had besteld zeer behoorlijk. Klein puntje van kritiek is dat de toiletten niet alleen aan de ( te ) krappe kant zijn, maar ook beter kunnen worden bijgehouden.
