elmo's Amsterdam in Landlust

This morning, I was standing in front of Elmos with my 1.5-year-old dog to order coffee. From the entrance, it was already noticeable that the employee felt uncomfortable around dogs. On other days, I have encountered staff here who treat customers with dogs much friendlier and more professionally. When another dog from the neighborhood walked by, my dog ​​started barking. She was simply on a leash, and I had her completely under control. There was no dangerous situation. What shocked me most was the manager's behavior. He addressed me in a disrespectful and aggressive tone and started shouting that my dog ​​might bite a child. He then even made the remark that he would kick my dog ​​to death if she barked at him. I find that totally unacceptable, inappropriate, and intimidating behavior towards a woman and a paying customer! Remarkably, my dog ​​remained calm throughout all of this. The only aggression I saw that morning came from the manager himself. To me, this is not a place where customers and women are treated with respect. Unfriendly to both humans and animals. I'm not coming back here!

I ordered four sandwiches via Uber. I used to order there weekly, but the last two times (including three this time), the bread was not fresh at all. I gave it another chance today and even called the shop to ask if they could use fresh bread, because stale bread was used the two times before. It took two attempts to get an answer, and the only thing the young man on the phone had to say was: I will pass it on. Unfortunately, once again, stale bread, so not fresh. The bread was very soft and almost fell apart. I understand that they might be cutting corners on something like this, but when you charge nearly ten euros for a sandwich, as a customer you should be able to expect your sandwiches to be fresh. This was the last time I ordered here.

Terrible service, slow and food not up to par!!! Rude waitresses

The customer service is substandard. Prices are higher than indicated on the large menu card behind the counter, and when this is pointed out, the increased price is still charged with the remark that nothing can be done about it. Deliberately charging a different price than indicated is really very poor customer service.

Waited an ABSURD amount of time, for simply a bowl and some pancakes. It took more for us to get the food we ordered in the actual place, than the people who came in and had a delivery. Do not recommend.

Orders that supposedly don't come through properly. Wait at least 30 minutes for a sandwich. Arrogant staff. Not recommended.

Waited an hour for a sandwich, received no apologies, nothing. People who were served later than me got their order earlier.

I ordered on Thuisbezorgd at 15:19. Three hours later and my food still hasn't arrived. Thuisbezorgd did say that the food had been delivered. Being late is one thing, but lying about it having arrived as well is unacceptable.

Unbelievable. My order never arrived. I've also experienced my order being cancelled at the last minute before.

Unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant experience here. I ordered a roll first, and then two more sandwiches. When I received my order, it contained salmon, even though I had not ordered that. I pointed this out politely, but the employee reacted very angrily and insisted that I had ordered salmon. The situation quickly escalated: I was spoken to in an unfriendly manner and my plate was angrily taken away. Because of this, I felt very uncomfortable and not taken seriously as a customer. Mistakes can happen, but I found the way this was handled to be anything but professional or customer-friendly. It is a shame, because it ruins the whole experience.

On the plus side your vanilla yogurt berry sauce is very good. It really makes the difference in your Elmo's Pancakes, which are some of my favorite in the city. On the negative side, you ALWAYS forget to include the sauce in to go orders. Which forces me to decide between going back, making my food cold, or trying to eat them without. Once again we have paid €40 for dry, tasteless pancakes because ya forgot to include the yogurt/berry sauce. This is the third time it's happened... I stayed quiet but at this point I'm over €100 in lost breakfast so I'm kinda past my breaking point, you feel me? Fool me twice, fine, fool me three times and you're gettin' a Google review. You might think I'm being dramatic but go try to eat these without the yogurt. Never mind the missing sourness from the missing berries or the subtle sharpness of the yogurt, which together bring the flavor profile of the Elmo's Pancakes to life. They can't be saved without the sauce. Now I'm using some gross syrup we had and it doesn't fit at all. My wife just ate a few bites and gave up. It's a very depressing scene right now. We'll get over it, but it's your fault.

Good atmosphere. In the evening, though, there are only young people. Otherwise, nice people and good drinks!

I ordered Moroccan tea, but they gave me hot water with mint in it... it tasted like water, not Moroccan tea, unfortunately. The matcha pancake sandwiches are delicious and always well-filled.

I come here regularly, but this experience completely ruined it. Today I ordered two pancakes, clearly specifying that one pancake had to be without white chocolate because I'm allergic to it. The wait was quite long, but I didn't mind since it was busy. When I received my order, both pancakes had white chocolate on them. I walked back to the counter and calmly explained this to the woman behind it. Instead of an apology, I was met with an extremely unfriendly attitude. She told me I had two choices: – have the white chocolate scraped off, or – get a new pancake and pay for it again. That's truly unacceptable. With an allergy, "scraping off" isn't an option, and besides, this was clearly their mistake. When I asked to speak to the manager, the manager refused to come, which I find incredibly unfriendly. They were completely unhelpful and didn't offer any serious solutions. I also want to emphasize that I've always found the staff here a bit rude. It would really help if you were a bit more polite and customer-friendly. I ended up leaving my food and leaving. Mistakes are possible, but how you handle them speaks volumes, and that was downright awful here. That's why I won't be returning.

I was there this morning, and we had a wonderful meal. They had delicious rolls and they were very filling. I also tried a pancake, which was also a hit. Truly flavorful and delicious. The cappuccino was also delicious, and I also had some tea. Regarding the wait time, it was normal for the necessary preparation. The ventilation works perfectly, and there were no unpleasant smells or food odors from the kitchen that soaked into your clothes or anything like that. This is a definite plus. On the other hand, the seating was a bit too cold for this weather, but we can live with that. In short, a very enjoyable day and meal.

Elmo's chocolate twist pancake and oat matcha is the best combination I've ever had. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is nice. I always order from them and am never disappointed. Love you guys♥️

Delicious spicy chicken baguette with a particularly tasty sauce

Great food for a great price! Coffee is fresh. Sandwich and bowl tasted amazing. Forget to take a photo after the first bite, was too good.

I absolutely love this place. We came here on two separate occasions it was great. We had the açai bowls and the only reason why I gave the atmosphere 4stars is because both times we came the available tables were messy. Tables weren’t cleaned fast enough and we had to kind of clean them ourselves but outside of that it’s great. The price is great. The location is great. It’s just amazing. The table not being cleaned is probably because both times we came. They were very busy and so they probably just didn’t have enough staff, outside of that I would 100% go back..

I was there on Sunday morning for coffee and breakfast. I've been there many times. Plenty to choose from. Delicious coffee, smoothies, and sandwiches. Nice place, cozy atmosphere, and friendly, helpful staff.

Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast, the place was lively had good seating options. We had a kip sandwich and pancakes with coffee. The food was good.

I just waited half an hour for a sandwich when it was quiet. Everyone was messing around in the kitchen, which really stood out. Plus, that lady with three layers of makeup arrogantly threw the contents of my drink on the table until it fell to the floor!!!! No service or friendliness. Such a shame.

Friendly ladies and delicious drinks from coffee to smoothies

I asked for cappacuino and they delivered it after 35 minutes and they said it was busy thats why but iwas not We have to go to counter 3 times and then we got or one remaining cappacuino and the lady with hijab was very rude.Time 2:45 pm 20-09-2025. Owner must tell her to act politely and not get angry on customer.

The smoothie was nice but the sandwich and the pancake is kinda average. And the place is full of flies and they were having a field day with the uncleaned tables

I considered sharing this review but decided to do so anyway, hoping an owner or manager might see this and do something about it. I had just been to this branch, and I was shocked by the service. When I walked in, there were five people behind the counter, yet it took over five minutes for someone to take my order. No one even bothered to remind me to be there; instead, one woman kept looking at her colleagues and loudly saying, "Please go to the cash register," to which every colleague said no and continued with what they were doing. This made me feel like the employees didn't care at all. Finally, another woman came over without even apologizing for the wait or even saying "hello," and her first response was a rather aggressive, "Can I help you?" When I gave her my order, she responded to my questions with a very surly tone, as if she'd rather be somewhere else. When I thanked her at the end, I was also ignored. Once I received my order, I didn't receive a "bon appétit" or anything like "have a nice day" (this isn't a big deal, but it would be polite). Overall, I felt completely unwelcome and left feeling embarrassed. It wasn't my fault, because the lady after me was treated exactly the same way. Again, I don't want to write this to downgrade the place, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1. But I'm writing this in the hope that someone in management will read this and talk to the staff. I would understand if people didn't want to return because of the poor service. Their food is otherwise delicious, nothing wrong with it.

I just received my food after waiting almost two hours!! Unfortunately, the hot sandwich was cold and no longer warm, and the healthy sandwich wasn't as ordered. I ordered the sandwich without cucumber, tomato, and arugula. Apparently, reading is difficult, and those three items were actually present in my healthy sandwich. Once and NEVER again here!!

It looks cute but the place is generating insane amounts of trash. Litter branded with their name or logo is overflowing the street they are on. Instead of being the hart of the community, they have become a huge problem.

I tried the flat white and the sandwiches were very good and prepared to order. The place is good for those who need more care in cleaning the place.

The food is good and good value but the shop is often dirty on the outside after they close, full of liter that is clearly from elmo’s. It’s a shame that their staff are not instructed to clean up the outside, as it’s a pretty low effort task. Happy to change my review if they start making an effort here.

Food is good! But the service is a big 1. Time and time again both orders that continuously go wrong and then they are not helpful in indicating this. (Indicating whether I can pick up the missing products because there is no delivery person, and this several times) Now I miss my 2 drinks again

Matcha is ready-made. And if I want a strawberry matcha, I don't need half a cup full of strawberry syrup! Seriously. And besides, the matcha is ready-made from a bottle and poured into your drink. Not for me anymore. Really disappointing.

Answer that phone and if it's too busy, that means hiring extra staff.

Cashier thinks she is something, is easily seduced, so I had to repeat my order and my sandwich arrived incorrectly. It wasn't even that busy and I waited 20/30 minutes for 1 drink and a sandwich... Not recommended

The salads and bowls are tasty, and portions are well sized. However, we had a bittersweet experience caused by the long waiting time to get the order (30 minutes to get an order of two salads and one dish of pancakes). When asked about the long wait, the staff said that the pancakes always take a long time to prepare (??). All in all, it is an okay place with room for improvement in customer service.

Mixed feelings, but ultimately I think it's worth repeating. The food was tasty. Generous portions for both pancakes and drinks. Truly a brunch because we really didn't need lunch after this, it was so filling. We just didn't find the atmosphere on site very pleasant. The staff hardly says anything, and because delivery people keep coming in to pick up orders, it felt a bit restless. The interior could also be a bit more cozy. I just didn't think it was a cozy place where I wanted to sit again anytime soon. But it certainly has potential and the sandwiches looked tasty too.

Coming here for the first time, it looks like a children's tent. 3 girls are sitting behind the bar on their phones, not even a good morning. When you sit down they stare at you, 10 minutes later still no one has come. When you get up, they shout through the tent while laughing, “this is bar service”. Next time it might be smarter to appoint adults who know how to deal with customers and provide service. It might be smart to also tell customers if they wait a long time how it works instead of staring and laughing. Plenty of better tents.

Cozy place with good music, nice atmosphere. Sandwiches were super tasty and filling. A medium coffee is surprisingly large and very tasty. Recommended for a short stopover or to start your day quietly.

Chill place, good prices and friendly employees. Coffee always good. Only a 'large' cortado mainly has more milk here. It then tastes less strong than a flat white and is no longer a cortado☕️

The quality of the food is phenomenal: the elmo sandwich is 100% good quality; the sandwich has rucola, tomato, melted cheese and chicken with spices but not too spicy with a sauce on top that makes everything worth paying 7,80€. Too bad avocado is another 1,50€ for it which should already be included in 7,80€ which is quite a lot for a simple sandwich. Although the food is really good, the service is everything but good. Not interested staff, waiting for a while and the ambiance of the place does not feel like I would like to dine in at. Overall, I would recommend coming here.

Delicious food, friendly staff and very good Matcha!

We had a delicious meal and drinks here. The coconut flavored matcha was really great. We had our kids with us, and they accidentally dropped their drinks. The service was fantastic: the staff immediately wiped the table clean and the children got new drinks without any problems. Really great! We will definitely come back here again.

I have never been treated so disrespectfully. My compliments to the gentlemen in the branch! The blonde lady can be a good example of this. I don't feel like a customer with you, just a number. Unfortunately, I am not used to this and I have never experienced this with you until I was "helped" by the blonde lady. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. Food continues to be great! But atmosphere certainly counts! I won't be coming back here again

Amazing food, quality and price

Unfortunately, the smoothies today were not as tasty as we are used to. We tasted a big difference. With a little more concentration and structure in the back of the preparation, we can hopefully enjoy the smoothies as we know them from Elmos again.

Weird acai bowl, not pure acai, they mix it, which made it watery. If you sell something give us value for our money!!

Really cute corner shop for breakfast and lunch! Prices are good compared to Amsterdam city center and especially given the portions which are abundant. Location inside is very aesthetic, really liked the decoration. It’s well equipped and they also have WiFi! If you are in the area it’s a good place to stop by, you can even sit outside if good weather

Place was close walking distance to Cityden Bolo hotel and it was a pleasant surprise for a breakfast meal on our first day

What bad service. Everyone complains about this. The guys at the cash register are nice and service-oriented. But those girls are really terrible. Everything you ask for is too much. They are also far too busy looking around to see which men are coming in! Bah, especially that new girl with those blue eyes is a real disaster!

A very nice little place in Amsterdam. The pancakes were really amazing 😋. They were still nice and warm, soft and fluffy. The strawberries were fresh, the topping in the form of roasted oat flakes and various others were pleasantly sweet and cross. Unfortunately not recommended for connoisseurs with nut allergies, as there are a number of different nuts included. All in all, a nice little restaurant with young, motivated employees. Which should be supported by a visit.

Just came for a coffee, can't go wrong of course. Although it took longer than usual. But a tip, make the customer feel welcome. Was waiting while the 3 employees stood behind the counter... a greeting & friendly smile really works wonders girls. Btw, communication with the customer is also very good! Really bummed. I had the peanut butter pancakes and other than the fact that the plate was massively full of nuts the peanut butter it self was kind of grossy- I had stomach aches for the whole day. My husband from the other hand had yogurt with granola and fruits - he literally spend all day to the gens! I don’t know how this place has so many good reviews but for us was so sad spending one day of our holidays like that 😕

More than half of the ingredients cannot be tasted in my smoothie. I often order the Elmo Crazy Boost smoothie. This time it was really undrinkable. It was very watery...I only tasted the milk with some almonds. Where are the dates, honey, amelou and avocado? Called them twice and didn't answer. Shame!!
