What a beautiful restaurant; the atmosphere is like rolling up into a warm blanket. We visited three times in two days: for coffee and tea the next day, and for a drink and some bar snacks. On the last day, we had dinner there. There is a wide selection, and we went for the fish salad and the beef stew. Both were equally flavorful. In short, we were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. Recommend it? Yes, definitely do so if you are in the area. Is there nothing to complain about then? Well, just one small thing that you actually encounter in every hospitality establishment. That is the prices for the drinks. Here you have to pay €7.50 for a glass of wine (125cl); I find that too much. Unsolicited advice: add a house red wine for €5.50.

Had a bite to eat with the family at Family Appelscha. Pleasant ambiance in beautiful, quiet, wooded surroundings. Nice, varied menu with (affordable) tasty dishes. Supplemented by an extensive beer list as well as good service. If you are in the area, a visit to Family is recommended.

The coffee is too bitter and the soft ice cream is like eating a block of butter. We were also not allowed to order a Latte macchiato because it wouldn't ensure sufficient flow. Very customer-unfriendly, all of it.

Great welcome, we actually wanted to eat on the terrace, but it was full. We got a table in the conservatory and when there was room on the terrace we were able to move outside, no problem at all👌. Neat and delicious food. Despite the busyness, everything ran smoothly. The owner focused on planning and did his best to find a place for everyone. He was also very customer-friendly, even taking the time to have a chat with his customers. The staff also lived up to their promises and were friendly. And the food was superb... we will be back. Highly recommended.

Very expensive for what you get

We have been going to this restaurant for a few years in a row now, but it is really delicious, especially the mojito, BBQ chicken burger, and the strawberry sorbet look really tasty.

What a fantastic establishment! The owner and staff are super friendly. The menu is perfectly tailored to tourists. Good portions (quite generous) for a reasonable price. The restaurant pays attention to small details, such as the side dish on the plate. Normally, restaurants just serve some lettuce, cucumber, and a tomato with a standard dressing on top. Not here. Here, you get a delicious salad with multiple ingredients. Additionally, as an extra service, you can order extra items or pay directly via the QR code of your table. When ordering, it is on the table in no time, despite the high season rush. This restaurant gets a 10 from me! I will definitely be coming back here regularly.

We visited here twice during our vacation. * The snack platter was surprisingly well-stocked for 15 euros. It looked nice and was also very tasty. * Dinner was okay because the price-quality ratio was good, but it is still fries served on a nice plate. The spareribs had a lot of glaze, making the sauce syrupy. My daughter's battered fish looked more like frozen fish, and everything was just put in one bowl. My husband had a burger and was satisfied. We had a Sundays for dessert. That was perfectly fine. * The staff consists of very young people who hold the plate of food under their mouths and then strike up a conversation... or they stroll through the place with slumped shoulders as if they are navigating a flea market with their parents... Especially with this young group, there should be some extra coaching on posture. All in all okay, but not a top-notch spot, hence the 3 stars.

Had lunch, which was excellent. Tasty and plentiful. Returned in the evening for a hot meal. Ordered drinks: 2 soft drinks and 2 Warsteiner 0.0; the Warsteiner was changed to a 0.0 Radler. After some back and forth, the Radler was exchanged for the ordered 0.0. There was a discussion in the restaurant about how this went wrong. Fine, but don't do that in front of guests in the restaurant. Afterwards, ordered a simple dish with stewed meat. 2 meals were hot. 1 was warm, though not really the right temperature, and the last one was cold. After testing at the table, it was determined that it was indeed cold. 1 meal was replaced. The meals tasted good and the portions were sufficient. Nothing more was said about it when settling the bill. Hence the 2 stars.

For me, Family Appelscha is the place to be in Appelscha for a good and affordable snack, served with passion and friendliness.

Cozy place to sit and delicious food

No oat milk 'because that's not possible'. Peculiar. Then I asked for an Americano, or just coffee with hot water on the side. That was possible, but they charged me for tea as well.. You couldn't imagine worse service...

This was our second time eating here. The first time was for lunch. There was quite a long wait then.. We had a really good meal, and the staff were friendly. We had dinner today; it was pleasantly busy.. The young staff are very friendly. We even had a short chat with the owner. My husband and I thought the food was delicious. I had a pan of chicken teriyaki with fries and my husband had the schnitzel menu. The food tasted good.. Definitely recommended, and we will certainly be back..

Tasty hunger suppressants at a low price

It's a nice place to sit. We received friendly service. But the prices are exorbitant. You can put something on a nice plate, but it still remains a bowl of (not crispy) fries with 5 small pieces of (frozen) kibbeling. Not a lettuce leaf or piece of cucumber to be found with it. In that case, it is really expensive for what you pay.

What a shame about that beautiful place. The wait staff are wearing blinders. You don't exist to them. Didn't get a menu, couldn't order a drink. Went to the neighbors, LeCoq, which was really good.

Eating here is a disappointment. Plates full of fries A few pieces of battered fish, the last bit of stewed beef including the crusts, and a chicken schnitzel that was way below par. Well, fries are cheap and everything else is secondary. I mentioned this to the waitstaff, who said they hear this quite often lately. So if you want to eat expensive fries, this is the place to be; otherwise, just keep looking. We won't be coming back here.

The dishes were excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. There was plenty of room to sit comfortably and the location is ideal, right in the middle of Appelscha. The value for money is also good. If we visit Appelscha again, we will definitely eat here again. Highly recommended!

Popular local eatery for a good reason. Good food well priced drinks and you definitely won't complain about the portion sizes. Friendly staff Lil language barrier foofaa until my local friend arrived but all in all a very pleasant experience and apparently dessert is a must do experience.

Unpleasant atmosphere, lots of noise from children who are not corrected. The staff cannot hear well, so you have to repeat your question several times. The food is not top quality, but for the price, it is acceptable.

The children have the upper hand there, running around screaming between the tables. The staff can't understand you and you have to say what you want to order three times. If you want to eat spareribs, it is normal everywhere to ask for a bowl of water to clean your fingers. Here you get wipes with a perfume that isn't very pleasant.

Everything was perfectly arranged from arrival to departure. We arrived early, before the kitchen was ready for lunch, and the host kindly and clearly indicated how soon the kitchen would be open, and that was exactly right. Very friendly service and the atmosphere was very good. Nothing but praise for the Family Appelscha Eethuis team. Highly recommended!

Visited the "Family" today. We were with a group, plenty of choice for everyone. Perfect and extensive selection. Super friendly staff who are happy to think along with you, and to come back to the selection, it is very wide and tasty. Fine products, good understanding of what people want. The choice is huge and the quality is simply good, just like the price! Excellent location and pleasantly priced!

We were here today, around 1:00 PM. May 12, 2026. It took a long time for them to come to us; ordering drinks also took a long time. (We understand that when it's busy, of course), but in terms of service, they should have been able to handle it. We come here often, and then it's even much busier, and then it goes well. We both ordered a fried egg, and clearly communicated how we wanted it. It went wrong; we pointed it out to the wait staff, and later you see that there was no bacon on it. They took it away and made a new one, so my husband and I were eating one after the other. (Not very sociable.) They were quite greasy; I didn't finish it all. Later, I told the wait staff everything. "Yes, I will pass it on." We suffered quite a bit from it all afternoon and evening. All the staff were much too young, and the same goes for the kitchen.

Most expensive snack bar I have ever eaten at. Plate of fries with some small frozen mush on the side. Glass of wine for €7.50. Over €40 for 2x fries special plus a drink. The location was nice though, and the staff friendly, so I paid for that.

The service was of the "football canteen" level. If a glass of wine of the caliber of Cabernet Sauvignon is not available, ask for the wine list, because before you know it, you will be served a glass of Fat Baron for €7.50. You will then leave the place feeling like you’ve been ripped off.

Very good and tasty food, especially the homemade burgers and the fries are very good. It is highly recommended, though it is often busy (especially in the summer months and tourist season). It is a good restaurant with tasty food. I go there with pleasure☺️

If you're in the area, you should definitely eat here. Super friendly staff, lovely heated outdoor patio. Dogs are welcome, and the food is delicious at a great price. And the coffee is good too. In short, everything is perfect.

On the first day of our vacation, I had a delicious meal! The sandwich was excellent. The homemade croquette appetizer is highly recommended! The spareribs were wonderfully tender. Just a bit too much BBQ sauce for my taste. The atmosphere was great. The restaurant was packed, which speaks volumes! In short, if you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit!

Went for dinner on a quiet evening this week. The menu was very nice, and the kitchen presented relatively simple dishes in an interesting way. Compliments for the extremely friendly and especially spontaneous service. I also had the opportunity to chat with the owner, Alida, who seemed just as friendly. All in all, highly recommended for all ages, families, and couples.
