Wow!!!! This place blew my mind. Got the veggie trio dish and was absolutely blown away. Best Ethiopian I’ve ever had.

A surprisingly small place with incredibly good service and the food was really delicious. It is a nice, cozy tent that I often walked past before. (The only point of attention is that they can run a dustpan/swiffer over the walls and cupboards.) But if you are in the area and want to eat surprisingly good food, Fenan Klein Afrika is a very good choice.

It was the first time we went to an Ethiopian; Sidon's help when choosing the dishes has been great. Highly recommended, good quantity and quality.

Been here 2 years ago, at that time the staff assumed me doesn't eat raw beef, therefore he served me Kifto with cooked beef, which was also delicious, this time I specifically asked them to give me Kifto with raw beef, and there it is, it's more delicious and that's the true taste of Ethiopia. The restaurant is popular therefore reservation in advance is needed.

Always delicious and authentic. What is extra nice is that the dishes are gluten-free as standard, the injera is tasty and the flavors are wonderfully spicy. 'Primal food' for our children from Ethiopia. It is very nice that there is no adjustment towards the mild Western cuisine. Generous portions, even though our kids really eat it. Highly recommended. Also plenty vegan. Sorry, friendly, sweet, kind service and the cook/owner always gives our boys extra attention.

Good food but terrible service. The waiter and their manager argued for minutes on why they cannot serve tap water or bottled still water at room temperature. The only option was to pay for a bottle of chilled throat wrenching water.

You will be served the dishes on a large platter with the traditional pancakes (injera). This means that everyone sitting at the table can easily enjoy each dish. This place is not only suitable for a nice dinner, but also if you simply want a good meal. The portions are substantial, so you can get back on the road with a well-filled stomach. Top restaurant!

Delicious, healthy, good price.

We have been in the restaurant for a dinner. Easy to arrive with public transport near the Vondelpark. We have eaten a mixed vegetarian dish and drunk a mango beer. All beautiful and at a very good price.

Delicious food, definitely coming back! We were a group of 4 people, and ordered three stews to share (beef, seafood and lamb), recommended by the restaurant. It was probably one of the best choices! I made a reservation via the Google Maps chat feature, which was easy and smooth.

We looove (vegan) Ethiopian food and the food here was wonderful and the vibe really cosy! I was a bit disappointed they wouldn’t serve us tap water, even though we drank a good amount of wine… That being the only negative point, I’d totally recommend them!!

Delicious! Been wanting to try Ethiopian/East African food for a long time, glad I did here. Perfect dishes to share, and three dishes for 15-20 euros are enough for the four of you. The atmosphere was very friendly, a real family business and a favorite with the locals. The only downside was the music, which I didn't find very atmospheric. Be sure to try the banana beer!

Good grief this is the best Eritrean/Ethiopian food I’ve ever had! We both got the vegetarian. If you haven’t had food like this it will come on the same plate with the bread under and around it. You eat with your right hand, tearing off the bread and grabbing each dish with it. If you’re wondering why there are no people in the one photo it’s because we got there RIGHT before everyone did and the tables were full! In Amsterdam reservations are common so make one if you plan to eat here (and you should!). This restaurant is vegetarian-friendly. And the menu says they can cater to vegans, too.

Such a gem of a place, amazing for a dinner with friends! The food is so delicious and there are a lot of great vegetarian and vegan options. They also have very interesting drink options, like mango or banana beer, and honey wine. I will come back again and again for sure!

Fenan Klein Afrika is zo'n petit restaurant waar je, bij wijze van spreken (!), altijd terecht kunt. Even reserveren om zeker te gaan. De Oost-Afrikaanse keuken is inmiddels een vertrouwde keuze. En Fenan is daarin een goede keuze. Goed te combineren met de Filmhallen Lopend of fietsend via Het Eetbare Plantsoen bijvoorbeeld.

So what can I even say about this??? Just I thank the gods and the spirits for the day I discovered this restaurant years ago in Amsterdam

A nice experience, food is a bit spicy but not too much, good portions, an good prices

I had 2 of the dinner platters, one with fish and the other with chicken and 2 types of beef. I must say the food was quite flavourful but not to the extent that every bite was enjoyable. Also, 1 of the beef orders was quite chewy which made it a bit more difficult to eat and the fish was inconsistent with flavouring. Overall the place has a really great atmosphere and nice staff that are helpful. I’m happy I gave it a try and you definitely get your monies worth but now somewhere I’d go back for a 2nd time.

Had an amazing dinner here even though the restaurant is quite small. Definitely fitting for a place called Klein Afrika, it gives you a taste of Afrika from the atmosphere to the food. I really enjoyed the Ethiopian dishes and the prices are really reasonable as well. One last thing is the service was splendid and everyone was friendly, five stars!

This place is so popular that I ALWAYS make sure we have a reservation when we go there for food. The zegni is my favourite and the portions are huge. Vegetarian options are delicious too.

Cute tiny place that we recurrently saw full in the past couple of months; this week we decided to try. We asked for 2 main dishes (3 vegetarian mix and 3 meat mix) - plentiful for a couple - and it even came with a extra bowl of injera! Everything was great, flavourful and the price was right. The fruit beers were quite a nice change (coconut and mango) without being to sweet. Will come back and have some sunny beers during summer !

It was the first time that we have ever had Ethiopian food and we simply loved it! At the end of night, even though we have eaten a lot, the food hasn’t felt heavy on our stomachs at all
