Fers Friethuys in Lage Zijde

To be honest: I actually never write reviews for snack bars. But these fries deserve an exception. We are big fans of these fries, cut a bit larger and with the skin on. We choose Fers (if possible) when we want to eat fries. As for snacks, they have plenty of choice and meet the expectations I have of a snack bar.

The best fries in Alphen, and always super, super friendly service. Because we live around the corner, we always pop in and out ourselves. This place is so busy on weekends. It's amazing how they can make everything so delicious and so quickly. Their fries, spicy chicken, and stew are delicious, and the portions are generous.

We had the satay dish with fries, and it was delicious. We ate it there, and it wasn't warm inside.

First of all: portions that are too large aren't ideal either. I consciously choose kids' fries. The quantity of these kids' fries is more than enough for an adult. The result is now: throwing away a lot of fries. The fries are poorly fried. I have the feeling I received the leftovers from a few frying rounds (re-fried) and/or the oil was no longer in order / at the right temperature. The fries had many dark spots that smell like burning, while the rest of the fries aren't even crispy yet, but actually a bit too soft. I was looking forward to nice golden-yellow fried fries. This wasn't that. If I owned a chip shop, these fries would go into the trash and be re-fried. Furthermore, the peanut sauce was already lukewarm, despite being wrapped in aluminum foil. Did it sit there waiting? Or is the delivery bag faulty? Conclusion: I would like fewer fries, but of good quality.

Delicious fries, by far the best in the area. Super friendly people too. Love coming here. 😄 Open until 9 PM instead of the 8 PM it says online.

A few friends and I ordered from here a few days ago. I had a banana milkshake and fries with "hot meat." The first issue was the delivery time of an hour (!!). We were sitting in the outdoor area of ​​McDonald's, I think less than a two-minute bike ride from the snack bar, and we had to wait for over an hour. If we had known this, we would have quickly gone back and forth ourselves. The food finally arrived without any cutlery, napkins, etc. Luckily, we were at McDonald's so we could arrange that, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to eat our food without cutlery. The banana milkshake was vanilla-flavored. And the fries with "hot meat" were absolutely disgusting. It was a large bag of fries, I have to give them that, but the meat was far from what I expected. It was two large pieces of döner-like meat with lots of large chunks of onion and mushroom. The flavor didn't match the sauce at all, and it was definitely not worth the money. A regular pair of fries costs €3, and I paid €7.50 for this meat. Because the meat was so bad, I called and asked for a new milkshake in the right flavor. In short, it's a great place if you want a quick snack or whatever, but otherwise, I wouldn't expect anything.

Very friendly staff. Beautiful new frying wall. But outdated interior. Fries are coarse and full of seeds. I understand that potatoes have become expensive, but deseeding potatoes is just part of it. Spring roll is of inferior quality. Cheap and extremely friendly.

Very traditional Dutch snack bar interior. The prices are average, especially winnig that much award in the past. For sure it has been taken over. The fries They have a good outer texture, it is not a good crispy crunch but still soft and with a bit of crunch. But fried nicely and you can easily tell the fries are higher more hand cut fries (not sure if it is). The inside is so different, one is still moist inside the other dry and crumble. Mostly is the second. When it cool down a bit it is hard to eat it as it is that dry and hold totally no moist any more. Do need to say the quality of the fries are higher than average. Now the sauces are basic but just a bit higher than average. Quality is there. The service is friendly and fast. They did well on the packaging. Like double layer paper bag to not get oil all over the place, the sauce is packed with aluminium to prevent it burst open. Will I special go to it, not really. will I visit it when I am around. Not really. If there is any improvement I will say, I am happy to try it once more for now it is ok.

Ordered here last week and both of us felt nauseous and sick after eating. We thought it was a coincidence that we were both sick and nauseous at the same time. Ordered here again yesterday and today I was once again extremely sick and nauseous. This can no longer be a coincidence. I think something good is going wrong in the kitchen there!

Simply delivering the order normally is apparently a big problem for Fers friethuis these days. And the completely indifferent attitude when you call them is also super annoying. "Yes sir, I'm sorry, what else do you want?" .well, if I have people here as guests I can put down a bite of food...but they still don't come to your mind, the reaction was just bad luck...in short, completely unreliable...waiting time was already approaching 1, 5 hours while they are close by... in short, if you really want to actually receive your fries, Cafeteria Ling, for example, is a better option.

Food was supposed to be delivered at 7:50 PM. Now at 8.50 pm nothing has been delivered, I already called and they were almost on their way, but I see several reviews from people who have been waiting for more than 2 hours so I'm afraid it will take a long time. Vandaag voor de zoveelste keer bijna 2 uur na mijn bestelling nog steeds geen eten bezorgd gekregen. Ik belde na anderhalf uur en kreeg toen doodleuk te horen dat het nogal druk was en dat het nog minstens een half uur zou duren. Behoorlijk frustrerend, vooral voor de kinderen. Vermeld dan ten eerste niet in de bevestiging dat de bezorgtijd 45 minuten is en laat het ook even weten als het veel langer lijkt te gaan duren. Dan hadden we nog de keuze gehad om de bestelling te annuleren en ergens anders te bestellen. Nu hoop ik maar dat het zo komt. Meerdere keren zo’n slechte service heb ik nog bij geen enkel ander restaurant meegemaakt. Echt jammer, vooral omdat de friet erg lekker is…. Vandaar toch nog 3 sterren: 5 voor de friet, 1 voor de service…

What poor customer service! A week ago I picked up a fries that had a black hair in it (super dirty) I called immediately and I would get a new one when I am in the area again. When I come to pick it up later, the staff suddenly doesn't know anything. Didn't get new fries, very unfriendly staff. Not recommended. (Check your fries carefully before you leave, because later they'll act like they don't know anything)

Om 18:20 een bestelling geplaatst (voor drie mensen die best trek hadden) na bijna 2 uur later zijn we gaan bellen, voicemail, online gekeken en daar stond ineens “Gesloten” terwijl ze wel lekker ons geld ontvangen hadden.

Unfortunately after another hour of waiting, still no food. We went there and were treated rudely. No apologies, no money back, no explanation. After extensive discussion with the employees, we were told that we should get our money back from home delivery. Ridiculous, I won't order from here again. A warned person counts for two.

As a lover of tasty fries, I now drove to Alphen aan de Rijn for Fer's Friet for the second time. Good fries that are crispy and well fried. The amount of salt is also good, not too much! The sauce comes in a separate container so you can easily dip your entire bag of fries with it. Great!

After hearing and reading good stories about the famous Fer's Friet from Alphen, we put it to the test ourselves. According to the AD test for 2016, an 18th place. Personally, I think they are nice fries, which quickly became soft/soggy as they got a little colder. In my opinion, too little peanut sauce, so that halfway through a large portion of fries you run out of sauce. In contrast to the generous dollop of real mayonnaise, which was generously provided in the regular bag (portioning exactly the wrong way around). As said, it is not worth the effort for us to make a special detour.
