Florencia - Koffie & IJssalon in Wijk 28 Centrum

A real Italian ice cream parlor, frequented by regulars and a few curious tourists like us this evening. A very friendly welcome. A very pretty place.

By far the worst ice cream I've had in a long time. I ordered two scoops in a container. One Stracciatella and one Amarena. Normally, Stracciatella should contain small pieces of chocolate, and sometimes a slightly larger piece. This time, I was really searching for the chocolate. The Amarene was completely pink and didn't contain any cherries. As I know it, Amarene should be more white, and you'll occasionally find a cherry. The containers of ice cream in the refrigerated display case simply didn't look good. I had the impression there were a bunch of factory-made containers with chemical coloring. There's absolutely no artisanal fresh ice cream here. The scoops were very small, and the ice cream tasted watery. Such a shame! The strange thing is that I had driven especially to Florencia because I used to have delicious ice cream there (more than 15 years ago). Unfortunately, this was my last visit to the store. I wouldn't recommend Florencia to anyone. There are plenty of other ice cream parlors that serve delicious ice cream.

August 8, 2025: After dinner, we had a delicious ice cream here and ate it outside on the terrace. The atmosphere was pleasant. The ice cream was good, and there was plenty of choice.

Little bit like a flashback to the 20. century, but people were friendly and ice cream was good. 🙂

To avoid. Unfriendly owner. The affogato (espresso + vanilla ice cream) had some taste of another ice cream with it. The owner charges to use the bathroom even if you ordered for 10€, and it’s not even clean and had no towel. The outdoor area is okay, but inside has a weird smell unfortunately.

Delicious ice cream, friendly service and it's not for nothing that I've been coming here (on and off) for almost 40 years.

Just been there with my wife. Got four scoops of ice cream in two containers, costing almost 7 euros in total. The scoops were tiny and they even scraped them off! They used to have the best Italian ice cream. Now, everything tastes the same and watery. I mentioned it to the woman behind the counter, but she said, "My scoop is just so small." I don't think I'd been there in twenty years, and that was also the last time. I'll never go back. It's a faded glory, and they're ripping me off!

Extremely rude and unfriendly to customers! The staff gives you a tiny, measly scoop of ice cream. If you say anything about it, you're snapped at. The old woman seems to be the owner and is also the one who served me. So she's the one who's so terribly rude to you as a customer. I live in The Hague and have been here once now, but I'll never go back. They're riding on their old reputation, but that could use some updating. Extremely unfriendly and disrespectful. So be warned if you're considering going to this ice cream parlor! I advise against it.

Always get good at this from a young age

I have a strong feeling that the old lady behind the counter no longer enjoys selling ice cream! 😅😂 So sad it makes me laugh, but she's not going to get me down.

I dont know what kind of ice cream they have but it tastes like you have just mixed food coloring and flavour. You will find better ice cream anywhere else.

This iconic Hague ice cream parlor is almost a century old. It's a cultural heritage. The Hague Photo Museum previously dedicated an exhibition to this legendary Italian ice cream family. I still get as happy as a child when Adriana, who should have retired long ago, scoops a delicious waffle with Malaga and pistachio for me.

Horrible place. 2 euros for the tiniest ice cream ball. When confronted all they say is: yes, it is what it is. Please don't go. Waaay better places in the neighbourhood.

Really tasty Ice cream. I am sure to eat again when I visit good price and extra unique flavors like matcha or mangococo. Forgot to take a picture. In general balls are small so you need to take advantage of the good price and buy more. 1-2 balls is not worth it. Also in mens toilet you don't have to pay but for women you pay 20 cents. I have never seen that before.

I've had worse ice cream, let's just leave it at that. Service is unfortunately rude. Customers are mainly seen by the ladies behind the counter as an annoying interruption of their conversation.

I'm from Amsterdam and have been looking for an Almond sandwich for a long time. Here it was just in the display case. A nostalgic place, beautiful to see.

You can eat in a pinch but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Stopped by Florencia Koffie & IJssalon in Den Haag on a warm day with no expectations—just kids craving ice cream. It seemed like a popular local spot, especially known for their coffee and ice cream. Prices were standard: 2 scoops of ice cream for €3.20, and I got an affogato for €4.20. The presentation was a bit underwhelming, but the taste was decent. It was super busy, with people constantly coming and going, especially on the terrace. The atmosphere felt a bit hectic, and unfortunately, the elderly woman behind the counter didn’t seem too happy—hopefully just a rough day, but it did affect the vibe a bit. All in all, it’s an okay place for a quick ice cream or coffee stop, especially if you’re nearby. 3/5.

After years I visited Florencia again to get an ice cream. Unfortunately what a disappointment. They dare to charge 1.90 euros per ball and then you get a very small ball that falls exactly into a small square container. There was also little flavor to the ice cream. Gone are good memories of this case.

Just got an ice cream... really nice to relive the old cozy swear there... enjoy your eyes and ears... you hear all kinds of things

A security guard further along recommended us 'one of the oldest and best places in the area' for a coffee. I immediately liked the old-fashioned interior and the service was fast. Plenty of seating outside and a cozy atmosphere with a group of elderly people hanging out on the benches in front of the door. Nice place, I'll come back soon!

I have been coming to Florencia since I was little. Delicious home-made ice cream, but the coffee, pastries and sandwiches are also worth trying. Nice and large terrace where you can enjoy your treats and the view (especially people walking and driving past 😉).

The ice cream was very tasty, the cappuccino was too bitter for me. There is actually enough space, but there are only high tables and a few bar stools. Most seats are intended as standing room. It's not really cozy and inviting.

Please don't change anything. It makes me feel like I am back in my childhood. I feel at home.

Always been a big fan of this ice cream shop. That's why it's specially closed here on Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, the Pistachio flavor was so clearly not made from real nuts that it started off as a disappointment. Once we got to the cone it was completely dried out and tough, it looked like it had been open for a month. What a shame for a once respected ice cream shop.

Their pistachio is awful. The same artificial flavor you always find in low quality Dutch ice cream shops. The cake flavour was very nice, it really tasted like cake (similar to cookie dough). Mocha, strawberry (creamy not fruity) and Hazenut were decent. Cons: You get a different sized portion depending on who is behind the counter, sometimes they give you tiny portions and sometimes regular scoops. Hygiene isn't their forte, one time I found a drain fly in their cherry ice cream and they didn't get rid of that tray, they kept on selling it. The shop smells weird, not very pleasant. Paid toilets for ladies but free urinals for men. No respect for clients. It's a shame.

Florencia ken ik al zolang ik weer in Den Haag woon. Zo'n goeden zaak!!!! Sorry géén foto's meer echt ook niet zonder mij toestemming meer doen ik bedoel niet Florencia ik bedoel Google maps deed dat namelijk in het verleden en ben toen heellang gestopt met ook review's te geven en dat is natuurlijk niet de bedoeling de zaken waar ik kom hebben het recht hoe ik er over denk om mijn mening te geven !!!!!! Nu ik in één scootmobiel zit zijn ze in deze zaak nog precies zo vriendelijk en behulpzaam als vanaf ik er kom!!!!!!@@

Gezellige sfeer, jammer genoeg niet al teveel keus aan ijssmaken, maar de smaken die ze wel hebben smaken erg goed!

De banaan royaal is zeer lekker, maar de bolletjes ijs worden steeds kleiner. Maar het blijft toch mijn koffie en ijssalon.

Onduidelijkheid over het veganistische ijs. Ik vroeg waar ik uit kon kiezen en zij gaf aan dat er zwart ijs, mango en citroen was. Ik gaf aan mango en citroen te willen maar krijg in plaats van mango zwart ijs. Ik heb nog steeds geen enkel idee wat ik nu eigenlijk gegeten heb. Als iemand het wel weet... Ik hoor het graag! De reden van mijn drie sterren komt vooral door de grootte van de bollen. Ik was de week ervoor bij twee andere salons een ijsje wezen eten en daar kreeg ik veel meer waar voor hetzelfde geld. Sterker nog, ik denk dat ik nog nooit zulke kleine bollen gehad heb. Daarnaast vond ik het interieur wel erg... vintage. Ik denk dat er al ruim 40 à 50 jaar niets meer aan gedaan is.

Praat ijs met me.... Onze pitstop🏁 in het (aller) Haagse. Hier maak je vrienden, familie maar vooral je innerlijk selfe blij. Je hub, jup, gangster, intern, extern, local, expat en alle andere medebroeders en zusters. Hier is heel even iedereen een. Voor een joet ben je hier zoet en trakteer je al je vrinden op een dikke plak cake. Het beruchte broodje gekookt ei mayo zijn om je vingers bij af te likken. Een tosti kraakt hier nog zoals vroeger. Geen hippe dikke, maar witte brood van gisteren, zó uit het vuistje, voor de extra crunch, en ook nog eens voorzien van authentieke grillstrepen op rug én buik. Met een dipje ketchup maak je 'm helemaal af. Italiaans en Haags, hoe temperamentvol wil je het hebben? De serviesophaalboys met hun karretje zijn Zenner dan Boeddha🙏. We drinken koffie standaard zwart. Koffie met melk en een zakje extra suiker maken hier van je cheat je treatday. En dan hebben we het nog niet eens over het ijs gehad.

Het beste plekje in Den Haag voor een broodje ei, bakkie of een heerlijk ijsje tegen een betaalbare prijs!

Als vanouds weer eens ijsje eten bij Florencia, je proeft de nostalgie.
