The noodles were overcooked, the pisang goreng was actually just doughnuts with a banana flavor, and the rice was stuck together and was therefore also overcooked. Why two stars? We did get two calendars and a small bowl of chocolates, but next time we'll just go back to our old spot for takeout.

Unfortunately, after years of perfectly good food at this place (because that's what you can call it now), it was just plain bad. It was Christmas Day, so traditionally, when we eat Chinese food with the family, we automatically order something more clearly, with a 5 p.m. pickup time. Because we also know that the food is often ready a few minutes earlier, I was already at the store at 4:50 p.m. to pay and then only had to wait a few minutes. We had already seen some bags waiting, but the lady behind the counter politely asked, and it wasn't ready yet. No problem, Christmas decoration, completely understandable. After 5 minutes, a woman walked past the bags and, to our surprise, it was our order. That meant it had already been ready for 15 minutes. I asked the ladies how long it had been there, "Oh, that's no problem, it stays warm extra long, no problem, it's always ready a bit earlier at Christmas." Well, I gave the benefit of the doubt, so I took the bags and went home. 5 minutes later, we unpacked, and what do you know, the food was indeed almost cold. I called, and the only answer was, "You're kidding." No, I'm not kidding. I'm just calling, furious, for nothing. I find it absolutely outrageous that this happens; you pay for hot food, not cold. So, after years of satisfaction, we won't be coming back. If it has to be this way, I won't want any more Chinese food.

I was invited here by a good friend for a bite to eat. * A charming and well-maintained restaurant. * An extensive menu. * Free private parking, and all in the heart of the city! I opted for a cup of coffee, the famous Chinese tomato soup, and a special spring roll. All three were excellent, and especially the fantastically filled and tasty spring roll special. Because our "local" Chinese restaurant was closed, we had to go to Fong Sho. We picked it up. Everything looked neat. Friendly staff. The price wasn't expensive. The food was good, but a bit different from our "local" Chinese restaurant. But this one is good too 👍🏼

Excellent Chinese takeaway, ready quickly while you wait.

Today we were able to pick up a value menu A and a mini menu at 6:00 PM, and it was naturally very busy. Nevertheless, the order was ready on time and everything was prepared correctly. Kudos to the kitchen's organization! We especially enjoyed the Babi Pangang; it was fantastic again. The bami was also very tasty. We'll be back soon.

This restaurant is now pricing itself out of the market. Good food, but increasingly expensive, and the takeout containers are smaller.

Got the nasi rames special two days ago, what a disappointment!!! It used to be perfect, but now... only three pieces of meat, one of which was a measly piece of chicken, half a container of nasi, and half a chicken leg (bottom part). The rest was just vegetables and even more limp vegetables. We've been going there for years, but that's really a thing of the past now.

Bad, tasteless, and terrible service. Fresh? Absolutely not! These days, we have a much better choice at Peking on Spoorstraat. The service there is excellent!

due to food safety they should close this place immediately because my daughter got food poisoning from eating their chicken and she had to be rushed to the hospital because she almost died it was that bad because apparently they don't take food safety that seriously

It used to be a great restaurant but recently I have some issues with it. We ordered take away for my workmates and me and had an order for about 90 euro. I asked for 1 portion of Bami without vegetables. Then the lady first said it's not possible because the cook don't like to make it. So I said we have quite a big order. Then she said, ok but it costs you 1 euro extra. So i said, i have an order for 90 euro and you want to charge me 1 more euro for leaving the vegetables out? Then she agreed and said i get it without vegetables. So i took my order home unpacked it and it turned out it had the vegetables in, but left the ham out. This is the 2nd time this happened to me in this restaurant so next time i will go to another Chinese restaurant where it is no problem to get without vegetables.

We have been getting delicious food here for years. Always a smile on the owner's face and a warm welcome.

Nice Chinese restaurant. I don't think it's very pleasant to sit there, but it's more than fine for takeaway, and in terms of quality I haven't found a better one in Assen. It's nice that there is plenty of private parking, so close to the center.

Spring roll Fong Sho very tasty

Cold food for the 4th time (out of the last 6). Previously cold and dishes not delivered. After the 3rd time I asked if they could pack it while I could check it, but it was already packed and ready. So unpacking and they didn't like that in a full queue. We always thought it was a great Chinese takeaway, especially for the babi pangang. Now that this dish has also become a meat product, we are looking for another Chinese.

Eggshell pieces in the foe yong hai and a lot of unappetizing pieces (badly filleted chicken) in the chicken curry. Shame.

One of the Asian restaurants we still have in Assen. Possibly also the oldest Chinese/Indonesian restaurant at the moment. Traditional card. We eat there with some regularity. The menu doesn't really offer many surprises, but it's all just good.

Just a standard Chinese restaurant for takeaway. Ordered an A menu for two people and that was more than sufficient. As many as two people suffered from diarrhea after an hour. I can't prove that it was due to the food, but it certainly seems so.

We have menu A with fried rice and an extra bowl of noodles. The food was fine to eat, in retrospect the extra container was not necessary, it was basically enough for 4 people 😉

Gosh, what negative reviews I read here. Because now that I read that people have suffered food poisoning from this restaurant, I have now been warned not to get Chinese takeaway here for my own safety. Because I have an autoimmune disease. food poisoning would have been fatal for me, which is actually a shame because I was their regular customer, but forewarned counts for two of course, and that is why I have now become a regular customer of another Chinese restaurant in Assen called Beijing, which is close to the train station while that restaurant is 10 times better. Because compared to this crappy restaurant, this one has 1 star while Beijing has 5 stars. And if they don't take food safety very seriously, the municipality should intervene to revoke their permit. Because otherwise people could die if people get food poisoning from this restaurant. Because if I had not read that negative review by Sandra Veenstra, I would probably have died given my autoimmune disease. So in other words I will never come here again.

We actually only use the opportunity to pick up the food, so I can't say much else about the restaurant. You will always be helped quickly and the staff is friendly. Onbeschoft behandeld. Ik heb telefonisch een maaltijd besteld om af te halen. Bij aankomst betaalt en gewacht op de bestelling. Het duurde lang en op een gegeven moment kregen klanten die na mij aan de balie hadden besteld hun bestellingen al. Bij navraag bleek dat bij de balie mijn bestelling al 10 minuten gereed stond. Men wilde mij deze koud geworden bestelling meegeven met als genoegdoening een zakje kroepoek. Ik zei heel vriendelijk (foutje moet kunnen) dat ik liever een nieuwe warme bestelling wilde. De medewerkster vroeg hierom bij de keuken. De keukenbrigade gooide de bestelling kwaad terug door het doorgeefluik en met haar blote vingers voelde de medewerkster aan de loempia of deze nog warm was en gaf dezelfde bestelling opnieuw aan mij. Meenemen of geld terug was de mededeling. Ik heb voor het laatste gekozen en kom hier nooit weer.

It used to be very good, but the quality has deteriorated over the past few months. The last 4 times the order was incorrect. Bami was missing from the babi pangang, the number of packs of prawn crackers ordered turned out to be insufficient and yesterday the babi pangang was cold. Just updating my review. Not friendly people, can't handle criticism, if they get complaints about a wrong order it's always our fault. We don't eat pork, and if we get nasi and ham with it, it's still our fault. We came there about 40 times a year, but today was the last time. And then say we're the only ones complaining. Then do something about it, I would say, write down the orders better.

We sometimes get Chinese here. The food tastes good and the staff is friendly. The parking lot, on the other hand, is a big drama. It is a gravel pit with lots of holes, not nice if you have a low car. They should pave the parking lot.

Great restaurant, good Chinese. We are mihoen eaters, but they charge a hefty surcharge of €9 for that! Euro for half a cup. Because the cook has to prepare it separately, so the rest is not fresh? And then you order a container for 13 euros and then you pay for mostly peppers and eggs. A bit special.

We collect a monthly menu every month. Sometimes it is delicious and other times it is unedible, like on Wednesday March 29, 2023. The meat was tough and very fatty. We were loyal customers last year because we didn't like Jasmine Garden as much. You won't see us anymore for the time being. Sorry.

I think there are new chefs in the kitchen. Shark fin soup bland and no taste. The "large" spring roll is a lot smaller than before. The nasi was bland in taste, little meat and vegetables. The babi pangang overcooked, little structure. The tjaptjoi had a good taste. The foe jong hai tasted good, but far too many small pieces of egg, too loose.

Always pick up to enjoy the food tasty and good food at home.

All around solid food, best Chinese & Indonesian cuisine in town. This place used to not be on my radar but after other places in town switched ownership a decade ago, their quality faultered and so I came to Fong Sho. If you want Chinese in & around Assen, this is the place to go. Their menu offers a lot of options to everyone's taste from the oriental kitchen. If you're vegetarian you might want to look at the menu yourself beforehand because there aren't a lot of options. The prices are reasonable and offer both more feast-like options as well as more modest tableside menus where you can pick 3 mains and have a choice between noodles, fried rice or plain white rice as a side. All in all, a very varied and qualitatively solid place.

It's been a long time since I had such a good meal. Crispy spring roll, very large pangsit delicious duck. In short, I will go here more often in the future
