The best and iconic Chinese restaurant in Assen. Simply delicious. The sweetest people who work there. Extremely flexible too. I hope you always continue to exist because Assen cannot do without you. PS The postcard I posted below is from 1988

A classic Chinese-Indonesian restaurant, the likes of which are becoming increasingly rare in the Netherlands. I love it!

Was here at the invitation of a good acquaintance for a shared meal. * an atmospheric and neat restaurant. * an extensive menu. * free private parking and that, mind you, in the heart of the city! I chose a cup of coffee, the famous Chinese tomato soup, and a special spring roll. All 3 were fine, and certainly the fantastically filled and tasty special spring roll. Truly top-notch! In short, a pleasant introduction that is certainly worth repeating. Ed Jansen

This restaurant has nothing to do with Chinese food. The pale, mealy noodles taste like absolutely nothing🤮. Supermarket chicken satay is suddenly delicious compared to these soggy pieces of factory-farmed chicken. With my overcooked spring roll ('FongSho'), which by the way was also tasteless and filled almost entirely with bean sprouts, I was served some braised meat prepared with Maggi sauce 😮‍🤢!!! ISN'T THAT FOR VEGETABLE OR CHICKEN SOUP??!!! The little bottles of Maggi were on every table too. I was always used to seeing ketjap or soy sauce, but here it was Maggi. Unbelievable !! 🥴 No, I am sure that every Chinese person would run out of this place deeply ashamed after taking just one bite. 😳 But they weren't there either. They really have never heard of Asian spices. A good Chinese restaurant can be very tasty. But this one.... Never again. If you like Asian food, you really must avoid this restaurant. Do you like heavily Westernized Conimex Chinese food, and are you truly, truly unaccustomed to anything? Then maybe you can give this a try. They will never see me here again, even if it were free! 🫩

The food was downright appalling. Overcooked and monotonous/mediocrely filled spring rolls with some pieces of tasteless meat on the side. Koe Loe Yuk that has nothing to do with real Koe Loe Yuk, nasty sweet and sour sauce (tasted like ketchup mixed with soda), and overcooked and mediocrely filled thick noodles that tasted strongly of Maggi. Never again.

We had a delicious meal and it tasted very good. Nice service and very welcoming.

In the interest of food safety, they should close this place immediately, as my daughter suffered food poisoning from eating their chicken and had to be rushed to the hospital. She almost died; it was that bad. Apparently, they don't take food safety very seriously. But I won't let it rest here, because I plan to take them to court in the hope that, for the sake of public health, this place will close before people actually die from food poisoning, because it was touch and go for my daughter. So let this be a warning.

Great monthly menu. Certainly enough for two people.

Great Chinese food. We got takeout and it was really busy when we arrived, but we didn't have to wait long for our food. There were also quite a few people in the restaurant.

A real 'Chinese' Chinese. You know. One of those 'old-fashioned' ones. From back in the day 😉. But tasty food for a good price, good service. All in all, we enjoy coming here for a bite to eat.

Good business, so you'd expect them to have money for a second phone. You might as well spend the time you need to reach them cooking yourself.

The chicken curry was terribly spicy. It tasted like it had been spiked with phosphoric acid. It stung my tongue and throat, chemically sharp.

We eat here regularly with the kids, and even more often we order takeout. We usually call ahead to place our order, and then it's ready on time 👍. Always busy, yet never a long wait, and there's plenty of free parking. We've been seeing the family who work there for years, and I really appreciate that. I would definitely recommend this restaurant 👌🏻

The noodles were overcooked, the pisang goreng was actually just doughnuts with a banana flavor, and the rice was stuck together and was therefore also overcooked. Why two stars? We did get two calendars and a small bowl of chocolates, but next time we'll just go back to our old spot for takeout.

Unfortunately, after years of perfectly good food at this place (because that's what you can call it now), it was just plain bad. It was Christmas Day, so traditionally, when we eat Chinese food with the family, we automatically order something more clearly, with a 5 p.m. pickup time. Because we also know that the food is often ready a few minutes earlier, I was already at the store at 4:50 p.m. to pay and then only had to wait a few minutes. We had already seen some bags waiting, but the lady behind the counter politely asked, and it wasn't ready yet. No problem, Christmas decoration, completely understandable. After 5 minutes, a woman walked past the bags and, to our surprise, it was our order. That meant it had already been ready for 15 minutes. I asked the ladies how long it had been there, "Oh, that's no problem, it stays warm extra long, no problem, it's always ready a bit earlier at Christmas." Well, I gave the benefit of the doubt, so I took the bags and went home. 5 minutes later, we unpacked, and what do you know, the food was indeed almost cold. I called, and the only answer was, "You're kidding." No, I'm not kidding. I'm just calling, furious, for nothing. I find it absolutely outrageous that this happens; you pay for hot food, not cold. So, after years of satisfaction, we won't be coming back. If it has to be this way, I won't want any more Chinese food.

I still think this is the best Chinese restaurant in Assen. Fast takeout service.

Because our "local" Chinese restaurant was closed, we had to go to Fong Sho. We picked it up. Everything looked neat. Friendly staff. The price wasn't expensive. The food was good, but a bit different from our "local" Chinese restaurant. But this one is good too 👍🏼

Excellent Chinese takeaway, ready quickly while you wait.

Today we were able to pick up a value menu A and a mini menu at 6:00 PM, and it was naturally very busy. Nevertheless, the order was ready on time and everything was prepared correctly. Kudos to the kitchen's organization! We especially enjoyed the Babi Pangang; it was fantastic again. The bami was also very tasty. We'll be back soon.

This restaurant is now pricing itself out of the market. Good food, but increasingly expensive, and the takeout containers are smaller.

Got the nasi rames special two days ago, what a disappointment!!! It used to be perfect, but now... only three pieces of meat, one of which was a measly piece of chicken, half a container of nasi, and half a chicken leg (bottom part). The rest was just vegetables and even more limp vegetables. We've been going there for years, but that's really a thing of the past now.

Bad, tasteless, and terrible service. Fresh? Absolutely not! These days, we have a much better choice at Peking on Spoorstraat. The service there is excellent!

They are not cheap. Tomato soup is definitely recommended and not expensive: cosiness and atmosphere in the restaurant, is not really top. quickly helped, friendly staff

It used to be a great restaurant but recently I have some issues with it. We ordered take away for my workmates and me and had an order for about 90 euro. I asked for 1 portion of Bami without vegetables. Then the lady first said it's not possible because the cook don't like to make it. So I said we have quite a big order. Then she said, ok but it costs you 1 euro extra. So i said, i have an order for 90 euro and you want to charge me 1 more euro for leaving the vegetables out? Then she agreed and said i get it without vegetables. So i took my order home unpacked it and it turned out it had the vegetables in, but left the ham out. This is the 2nd time this happened to me in this restaurant so next time i will go to another Chinese restaurant where it is no problem to get without vegetables.

We have been getting delicious food here for years. Always a smile on the owner's face and a warm welcome.

Nice Chinese restaurant. I don't think it's very pleasant to sit there, but it's more than fine for takeaway, and in terms of quality I haven't found a better one in Assen. It's nice that there is plenty of private parking, so close to the center.

The best Chinese restaurant in Assen as far as I'm concerned! Tasty food, friendly staff, great prices! I can only rate the collection point. I usually get something with shrimp, which are abundant in what I order.

Cold food for the 4th time (out of the last 6). Previously cold and dishes not delivered. After the 3rd time I asked if they could pack it while I could check it, but it was already packed and ready. So unpacking and they didn't like that in a full queue. We always thought it was a great Chinese takeaway, especially for the babi pangang. Now that this dish has also become a meat product, we are looking for another Chinese.

One of the Asian restaurants we still have in Assen. Possibly also the oldest Chinese/Indonesian restaurant at the moment. Traditional card. We eat there with some regularity. The menu doesn't really offer many surprises, but it's all just good.

Eggshell pieces in the foe yong hai and a lot of unappetizing pieces (badly filleted chicken) in the chicken curry. Shame.

Just a standard Chinese restaurant for takeaway. Ordered an A menu for two people and that was more than sufficient. As many as two people suffered from diarrhea after an hour. I can't prove that it was due to the food, but it certainly seems so.

We have menu A with fried rice and an extra bowl of noodles. The food was fine to eat, in retrospect the extra container was not necessary, it was basically enough for 4 people 😉

Gosh, what negative reviews I read here. Because now that I read that people have suffered food poisoning from this restaurant, I have now been warned not to get Chinese takeaway here for my own safety. Because I have an autoimmune disease. food poisoning would have been fatal for me, which is actually a shame because I was their regular customer, but forewarned counts for two of course, and that is why I have now become a regular customer of another Chinese restaurant in Assen called Beijing, which is close to the train station while that restaurant is 10 times better. Because compared to this crappy restaurant, this one has 1 star while Beijing has 5 stars. And if they don't take food safety very seriously, the municipality should intervene to revoke their permit. Because otherwise people could die if people get food poisoning from this restaurant. Because if I had not read that negative review by Sandra Veenstra, I would probably have died given my autoimmune disease. So in other words I will never come here again.

I read a review here from Mrs. Sandra Veenstra that her daughter suffered from food poisoning, while my family recently also contracted it from their food. Fortunately, my family did not experience any serious problems. But we were quite shocked. it could have been worse. So no more Chinese from this address for us. But to prevent other people from getting sick, we will take the necessary legal measures. Because they pose a great danger to public health, I think that their tent should close before there are any more victims. So people, you have been warned because food poisoning can be fatal for people who have poor resistance

Food was decent. Instead of a large container, the large containers are what the small containers used to be. And the price has turned upside down once. Staff doesn't want to help. And forgot to pack half of the order. I'll never come here again.

In my opinion one of the best Chinese restaurants in Assen and the surrounding area. Tasty dishes and large portions. We actually only use the opportunity to pick up the food, so I can't say much else about the restaurant. You will always be helped quickly and the staff is friendly. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the portions you get!

Good portions, daging smoor and Pangang were in one container and were somewhat mixed. Nice staff and all in all not expensive. 3/3/24: busy, food was cooked a little too long.

Unfortunately, recently the quality has indeed declined and the prices have risen proportionately. Recently forgot the telephone order, but received an apology. Now again two spring rolls that were floating in the grease when we got home. Very distasteful, and I hope the quality improves a bit!

Onbeschoft behandeld. Ik heb telefonisch een maaltijd besteld om af te halen. Bij aankomst betaalt en gewacht op de bestelling. Het duurde lang en op een gegeven moment kregen klanten die na mij aan de balie hadden besteld hun bestellingen al. Bij navraag bleek dat bij de balie mijn bestelling al 10 minuten gereed stond. Men wilde mij deze koud geworden bestelling meegeven met als genoegdoening een zakje kroepoek. Ik zei heel vriendelijk (foutje moet kunnen) dat ik liever een nieuwe warme bestelling wilde. De medewerkster vroeg hierom bij de keuken. De keukenbrigade gooide de bestelling kwaad terug door het doorgeefluik en met haar blote vingers voelde de medewerkster aan de loempia of deze nog warm was en gaf dezelfde bestelling opnieuw aan mij. Meenemen of geld terug was de mededeling. Ik heb voor het laatste gekozen en kom hier nooit weer.

It used to be very good, but the quality has deteriorated over the past few months. The last 4 times the order was incorrect. Bami was missing from the babi pangang, the number of packs of prawn crackers ordered turned out to be insufficient and yesterday the babi pangang was cold. Must improve quickly, otherwise lose customer.

Matige smakeloze hap, ik kom hier bijna nooit en is waarschijnlijk ook de laatste keer geweest, Vind het ook qua inrichting een hele koude zaak. Mensen wel vriendelijk.

Just updating my review. Not friendly people, can't handle criticism, if they get complaints about a wrong order it's always our fault. We don't eat pork, and if we get nasi and ham with it, it's still our fault. We came there about 40 times a year, but today was the last time. And then say we're the only ones complaining. Then do something about it, I would say, write down the orders better.

We sometimes get Chinese here. The food tastes good and the staff is friendly. The parking lot, on the other hand, is a big drama. It is a gravel pit with lots of holes, not nice if you have a low car. They should pave the parking lot.

As a vegetarian, you are used to the fact that if you order vegetarian, you pay the same price as with meat, even though food disappears from the dishes. Recently they started charging extra money to vegetarians and people with allergies. Apparently, even though you don't get expensive types of meat, it costs too much for them to take into account the wishes of others. There are several Chinese restaurants in Assen that don't charge anything extra, I advise people to go there, the one above the stadium is better in terms of taste and freshness. Great restaurant, good Chinese. We are mihoen eaters, but they charge a hefty surcharge of €9 for that! Euro for half a cup. Because the cook has to prepare it separately, so the rest is not fresh? And then you order a container for 13 euros and then you pay for mostly peppers and eggs. A bit special.

We collect a monthly menu every month. Sometimes it is delicious and other times it is unedible, like on Wednesday March 29, 2023. The meat was tough and very fatty. We were loyal customers last year because we didn't like Jasmine Garden as much. You won't see us anymore for the time being. Sorry.
