I had dinner with my wife, daughter, and parents on Christmas Day. Compared to the Chinese restaurants in Assen, this is a good example of how it can be done differently. As a Dutch person, eating here is highly recommended. I said I'd leave a good review...here I go. Good food and very helpful staff. That makes the atmosphere even better.

For Asians (like me), this isn't a good place. Heard from an acquaintance that it was good here. I drove especially for this, but the food was a big disappointment. I think the average Dutch person would like it. The food is very sweet, and all the sauces taste the same. The fried meat wasn't crispy, even though it was freshly prepared. The dim sum wasn't dim sum, but pangsit and spring rolls. Just a regular Chinese restaurant, nothing more special than any other. Very disappointing, especially since I had high expectations. I'm very disappointed and sad about this. I've already spoken to the owner. The location is very cozy and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, I have to leave this review. For 80 euros, I had a bad dinner.

This restaurant was near us in Assen, but we had to leave for Rolde. I tried several other places, but unfortunately, not the same taste and quality as this one. The taste is consistently good... so just give it a try.

We had a delicious meal. We always had the buffet on weekends, although we saw that the menu is also available. The service was hospitable, and the owners went above and beyond to please everyone. And they succeeded! We enjoyed a lovely meal in a beautiful setting. The buffet was of good quality and offered plenty of choice.

We stumbled upon this place by chance, and what a stroke of luck! A super warm welcome; attentive, friendly, and engaging. We tried the buffet, and it was delicious. Excellent value for money. And then we saw the staff accompanying a pregnant woman and an elderly man with a walker. They came to pick up their order, and their order was neatly brought to their car. That's what hospitality is all about. Kudos!!

Excellent cuisine, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. We've been here for the third time and haven't found any drawbacks yet. Highly recommended for any lover of oriental cuisine.

Delicious takeout this weekend. Served 19 people, it was very quick and delicious. We even got a drink and prawn crackers while waiting. Highly recommended!

Just picked up some delicious food. For 5 people, noodles with fou yong hai, noodles with babi panggang, satay ajam, and fried banana. More than enough, we even had some leftover noodles. The dishes tasted great.

Best Chinese restaurant in the region

We received a very warm welcome and had a delicious meal. The dishes were all excellent quality and served hot. The service was incredibly friendly and certainly not pushy. We will definitely return if we're ever in the area again.

we were taken here by friends of ours, what a nice atmosphere this restaurant has, a Chinese what you can expect from a Chinese restaurant but then in a luxurious setting. The young employee who received us and after our table mountain leader and also served us the evening together with his colleague, deserves a compliment. So it is still possible hospitality and super fast and pleasant service. This young man thought along, advised, was accurate and very friendly, partly because of him we had a fantastic pleasant evening. All four of us had different dishes and each one was delicious, different flavors, really nicely served, also the possibility of a buffet. But we did not use that, in short, delicious food super nice service, it is too far away but if we are in the area we will definitely come back, the Peking duck with the recommended special sauce was fantastic. Two months ago we ate for the first time with the new owners. As usual, very cozy, nice atmosphere, excellent service and the food as always so wonderfully tasty. See you in three weeks.

We know Margreet and DouDou from the 90s when they had their restaurant at the Sticht in Assen, later they went to Kloosterveen and now they are in Rolde, how nice is that and you can always enjoy delicious food there. They are lovely people.

We enjoyed delicious, super fresh Chinese dishes. The Sun La soup is highly recommended, as is the Ma la Ap. Delicious crispy Peking duck with Sechuan sauce. But the classic Bami Rames was also excellent. We saw a Tipan dish being served at another table, which gave off a wonderful aroma, so we'll go for that next time.

Ate in the restaurant with the whole family. Including vegans and vegetarians. Super!

A beautiful Chinese restaurant with a large menu with many tasty dishes and also for take-away. Consideration has also been given to providing portions for the elderly to take away, so 1 portion is enough for them.

There was probably new staff in the service. This turned into a chaotic family dinner for 8 people. The table was too small and the food had to be placed on a turntable that was too small. The staff no longer knew who ordered what and the wrong items were also delivered. Too bad for such a new business in Rolde.

We ate with a large group from the buffet… some dishes were not completely warm which was a shame but the taste was great! Friendly service so recommended!

Really, really, really the crispiest vegetarian spring roll with fresh vegetables I have ever had. Crispy to the last happy.

Bad meal!! The chicken seemed completely ground up. It had no meat structure whatsoever. So I only ate rice with pineapple pieces. The bami rames: the chicken dry, pale and tasteless. Beef was average to poor. We will no longer order meals here.

We are fans of Happy Garden, even when they were still in Baggelhuizen (Assen), then Kloosterveen and now in Rolde. We always receive a warm and friendly welcome and the food is delicious and the service is friendly. Highly recommended.

They moved from Assen to Rolde, but here too they more than make up for the good name. Definitely recommended to eat here, casual and good atmosphere.

Vandaag afgehaald bij Happy Garden in Rolde. Babi pangang, babi ketjap en ta pa kwee, allemaal hele grote stukken vlees, erg veel vet,banaan was heel droog van binnen en heel vet van buiten. Geen aanrader

The pieces of meat are too large and way too fatty. The fried banana is dirty (tastes like cardboard). I think you can expect better quality for this price.

Just opened a week, and we thought we'd get a takeaway menu. Now all restaurants have become more expensive. But the prices must be related to the quantity. Purchased for 3 adults and two toddlers. A happy family menu with an extra bowl of noodles. Also the happy mix and prawn crackers, totaling approximately 58 euros. The concept of happy family menu was liked. You can decide for yourself what you get with your nasi or noodles. We had babi pangang, chicken curry and chicken pineapple. When we got home everything was unpacked and served. The nasi had raw vegetables, the noodles were barely cooked, and also had raw vegetables. Babi pangang had a great taste, the chicken curry was tasty. I personally didn't like the pineapple chicken, but the others liked it. The happy mix: mini spring rolls and curry spring rolls were fine, the chicken satay was tasty, but was it chicken? Pisang goreng was tasty, but didn't taste like plantain, used regular banana? I thought pangsit goreng was fried for too long. The chicken wings did not appeal to anyone. Prawn crackers had a good taste but were greasy. It was so nice that it all came together. Which I attribute more to the quantity that was delivered.

Happy Garden... Man man, I think it's a shame that you are leaving Assen... What a wonderful Chinese and what incredibly sweet people and above all... what delicious food... The best Chinese from Assen is disappearing... Lots of dining pleasure for the people in Rolde... Definitely worth it... And lovely people from Happy Garden... Good luck in Rolde... I will definitely come and eat sometime... I'm going to miss my Javanese nasi. ..

Had a delicious meal at Bij happy garden. In my opinion the best Chinese in Assen, quick service and high quality Chinese food.

We previously had a good experience with this restaurant. But after today we won't be coming back here. The girl behind the counter seemed to be working in slow motion and was not enthusiastic/active at all, but that's besides the point. We bought a monthly menu (limited choice), we couldn't even fit in a bag of prawn crackers and when we got home (less than a 5-minute drive) the food was already cold when we put it on our plate. In short, not recommended in our opinion.

Gadogado did not look like gadogado. Limp, watery "peanut sauce". No beans, no cabbage, no prawn crackers, etc. This was the Chinese/Dutch Gadogado, according to the owner. I recommend taking it off the menu. Girl serving was very nice.

Dietary requirements perfectly arranged, everything is possible. We only pick up, it is located in a shopping center near a neighborhood, it is nicely decorated, but the people who pick up are in the same room. Partitions have been made, but still. Price is slightly higher than others.

Tried it for the first time, just live in Assen and because of good reviews, went to this Chinese restaurant (pick up). Unfortunately... the food did not get higher than 2 stars: the foe yong contained eggshells, the satay ajam was really bad chicken, inedible. Nasi, spring rolls and fried banana are fine, but you can't go wrong with them. Shame. Looking again for a really good Chinese restaurant. Anyone have any tips?

The food has always been very good so far, but the young staff behind the takeaway counter is a real disaster. To stay in Chinese terms, some red pepper 🌶️ is allowed. When we got home we discovered that the red sauce from the Babi Bacon was not included and an extra bowl of sambal was not included either.

Super tasty, freshly prepared, crispy, tasty dishes. Very friendly staff. Nicely decorated, perfectly clean. Price very reasonable if you take all-you-can-eat. You can then reorder if you are still hungry. It's not a buffet, so everything is freshly prepared.

Ordered a Happy Family menu today; a very surprising dish from which we could choose was the Ta Pa Kwee; delicious in taste and tender. Everyone should try it. Staff were extremely friendly and polite. We will order again!

Had dinner tonight at Happy Garden Kloosterveen. A very pleasant welcome by the owner. After the first drink, we ordered a Happy Garden Rijsttafel. Delicious fried shrimp as a starter. Really very tasty. Then the Wan Ton soup. Delicious. And the main course with 3 types of meat was really fantastic. What wonderful flavors. We enjoyed it. Then an animated conversation with the owner. We will definitely come back here. Definitely recommended.

Vandaag was echt de laatste keer dat we hier een maaltijd hebben afgehaald. Dat je flink in de buidel moet tasten voor relatief eenvoudige gerechten was ons al bekend, maar dit keer was ronduit waardeloos. De pisang goreng was smaakloos, de vegetarische tjap tjoy bestond uit een halve paprika, 3 champignons en héél véél nagenoeg rauwe ui met gewoon kale bami. Veel geld voor heel weinig helaas. Hopelijk voor toekomstige gasten was dit een ongelukstreffer!

A warm welcome upon arrival by a Dutch young lady and gentleman. Average prices. Interesting food combinations. Unfortunately moderately spiced, on the "cautious" side. As a result, the taste is less.

Unfortunately, I received an incomplete order for the third time. Had telephone contact with the owner: we would not have passed it on properly ourselves because it was not in the order. After hearing this, we had to take a moment because the lady had to do other things. After 5 minutes the conversation resumed. It remained our own fault (although it has happened twice before). We were allowed to pick up the rest (although it is a 30-minute drive for us), but they did not deliver. We did not agree to this, the lady's response was that she hung up out of nowhere. Very unprofessional company!
