We just had a drink after our walk with the polder warden. This is definitely highly recommended!

We recently hosted a barbecue and party here for family and friends, and it was absolutely fantastic! Everyone enjoyed it immensely. We had a nice tour of the fort, enjoyed delicious food from the well-catered barbecue, all in a relaxed, fun spot. There was even room to dance inside. In short, for us, it is the perfect place for a fun party.

It was special that we could celebrate our birthdays with family and friends at this beautiful spot by the Fort! The food was once again perfectly catered by Jeroen and his team. We will definitely be back!

Every year, the IVN Vecht en Plassen branch (including the city of Utrecht) organizes a day to put its active members in the spotlight. We truly did so this time because we combined it with beautiful sunny weather and the unique solar eclipse. And where do you get a beautiful view? At Fort Maarsseveen, of course. With over 60 people, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves: 90% eclipse, 100% enjoyment of the solar eclipse, the Fort, and the excellent catering with drinks and snacks!

Beautifully situated, a welcoming and informal place run by volunteers. Not a huge menu, but plenty of time for a friendly chat. In addition to the restaurant, the fort offers several other creative spaces where various workshops are offered.

Great stopover during a bike or walking tour

We hosted a large party at Fort Maarsseveen (approx. 70 guests). It is a very atmospheric (outdoor) location that made a great impression on the guests. Jeroen was our host from the fort. We really enjoyed working with him. He makes delicious paella and other appetizers. He was relaxed and helpful. We would definitely recommend Fort Maarsseveen for a party with an informal atmosphere.

Great!! Delicious coffee, cappuccino, and latte. Affordable drinks menu. Friendly service, with even a bottle of cold water for us cyclists.

Nice experience in 2025. Friendly people. Nevertheless, I prefer going to Fort de Klop, where the catering, for example, is also expensive, but clearer and better organized than here. (Here there was no menu or QR code on the table, no chalkboards or anything like that, and we didn't know if it was self-service, which it wasn't). To go to the toilet, I missed the sign and wandered through the fort until I ended up outside at two very small toilets. There was also a party going on, causing a queue for the toilets. And there was no space in the parking lot either, until someone drove out. The little ferry you had to take to cross from the parking lot to the fort was fun, though.

We had a great party for our birthdays. The team at the fort had everything perfectly organized. Delicious food, good service, it was top-notch!

I'm always happy to have a drink or tapas at the fort. Both inside and outside are very pleasant. Recently, I had a lovely afternoon at the fort with two families. We'd arranged everything beforehand with Jeroen (pop-up paela), so lunch, the tour, and tapas dishes were enjoyed throughout the afternoon. Good quality food, excellent service, a fun tour, a lovely atmosphere, plenty of space and privacy to chat or play a game—it was a great time!

A fort with a coffee shop and a restaurant on the weekends. Every last Sunday of the month, there's live music and an art exhibition to explore. The exhibition is also open on other days. A creative and cozy atmosphere! There are also workshops and classes, such as sculpting.

We happened to drive past the fort. We stopped for a look, and we didn't regret it. What a lovely place for a drink or a bite to eat. Friendly service, good small menu. Delicious coffee. Lots of artists and artists. They also have a nice studio where you can buy art. Lovely terrace. Looks like it would be lovely in the summer. Highly recommended.

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at the beautiful Fort Maarsseveen. Communication with Jeroen Verbraeken was excellent. Clear agreements and a clear quote were provided. It was a charming space, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The catering was delicious, with tapas and Jeroen's famous paella. We had a group of 63 people. I highly recommend stopping by for tapas and drinks. The party was enlivened by Marcel Blekendaal, who gave a short presentation about the fort's past and present. Jeroen, Marcel, and staff: thank you so much for this wonderful memory.

We celebrated our annual family day at the fort last August. Working with Jeroen, it turned out to be a very enjoyable and successful day. We had fun activities and delicious food, both for lunch and dinner. Drinks were provided in refrigerators for us to help ourselves to. Everything was perfectly taken care of.

A wonderful place to throw a party. Close to Maarssen and easily accessible for our guests. Parking is available behind the fort or a little further on if needed. We discussed our wishes for the afternoon with Jeroen beforehand. He even had a suitable solution for some dietary requirements. The food was excellent and well-organized. We could easily get our own drinks from the fridge, and there was plenty of choice. It was a nice warm day with occasional rain showers. We had over 40 people and were able to sit comfortably under cover. We could also sit inside the fort itself. We opted to stay comfortably under the canvas. Unfortunately, it was windy at times, and some guests were unexpectedly splashed with water. This caused quite a bit of hilarity. Fortunately, they dried off quickly, and it wasn't too bad overall. Hopefully, the temporary roof on the outdoor shelter will be finished soon.

Delicious shrimp croquettes, tasty fries, and a great cappuccino in a unique and truly charming spot. We ate outside. The service was excellent, but perhaps a little hesitant?

Delicious coffee stop for an affordable price

What a wonderful use of historical heritage! Relax and enjoy a hot or cold drink here within the impressive walls of this fort, or next to its flank. A month ago, we received an enthusiastic welcome from the volunteers (it's amazing how this place is run entirely by volunteers). We were shown and learned about the history and interior of the fort, and were even allowed to explore the rest of the building and the top floor, where a surprising rural view awaits. You can also rent a rustic space for a party or meeting. Treat yourself and support a piece of history!

A wonderful spot in the Werk Fort Maarsseveen. Park in the small field behind the fort and then take the ferry to the fort. We had delicious pumpkin soup. The service was very friendly and enthusiastic. Sculptor Marjoke's lovely studio is located in the fort.

We had a party for 55 people on June 1, 2025. The fort with covered terrace has a special appearance. The surroundings are actually a kind of island and that makes it private. You can completely customize the party to your own wishes in consultation with Jeroen. Delicious varied tapas in advance. Delicious paella eaten, with a vegetarian version. Gluten-free tapas in consultation. Coffee with delicious pastel-de-nata. Drinks were well arranged. Self-service with a varied offer. That makes it informal and cozy. All guests were unanimous that the location has a great ambiance, the food is great. It was a good choice to have our party there.

We had a family day at the fort, 27 people from 10 to 80 years old, 1 long table under a large tree at the back of the fort. For the children space to run around, play football with the boat and the adults could catch up. The soup and sandwiches were brought as agreed, from the well-stocked fridge we could take our own drinks. A few degrees warmer and such an Italian Grandma with an apron and you imagine yourself in Tuscany. It was a great day for us. Jeroen and his team,,,, thanks

We were able to celebrate a very well-organized party, tasty tapas, delicious paella, delicious coffee/tea and wine, beer and soft drinks in abundance. Everyone enjoyed it

Nice place to eat, good atmosphere and tasty food!

No matter how beautiful and special a place is, the most important thing is the people who work there. Today I came to this café from Amersfoort with my 11 year old daughter. The impression was ruined and I can no longer recommend coming here, because a man of 40+ who serves the tables openly teased me and pulled funny faces at my use of Dutch when I asked for the bill (we spent more than 30 euros in 1 hour and I did not order any alcohol). I came from Estonia with my family as a specialist in metalworking and I maintain CNC machines. I speak English perfectly, but out of respect for the Netherlands I prefer to communicate in Dutch as best I can. I only heard one not at all funny joke about the mistakes I made. It seems that this is the only way someone who clears the table after others can express himself. Then good luck with it.

Pop Up Paella Fort Maarsseveen. We had a delicious meal there on February 16, 2025. The care was excellent and so was the town of Fort Maarsseveen. We have walked past the fort for years and never knew what it looked like inside. We have visited the outdoor area several times during music performances, but we have never eaten anything, but we have had drinks. This year we ate a delicious and delicious Paella for the first time, where Jeroen had thought of and taken care of everything. The room where we had dinner was very nice and cozy with some classic furniture and old fort attributes to decorate the room. Our guests were also very satisfied and thought it was a pleasant and successful evening. In short, definitely worth repeating Frans and Jenny Folmer.

This year we have organized our company christmas dinner at Fort Maarsseveen. It was tremendous! First of all Jeroen and Marcel were helpful in any idea we had, and the food was perfect. We had the plan to use the fort as one big escape room to make the evening extra exciting, and that worked out terrific. The atmosphere was great, the hospitality was great and we all went home with a big smile on our faces. Highly recommended for special events!

Celebrated my 70th birthday with family, nieces and nephews and the children. About 55 people. Drinks and delicious snacks all provided by Jeroen. It was well organized and how beautiful it is to celebrate in the fort. Everyone was excited! Top location! Thanks again Jeroen.

An interesting place to drink coffee and spend some time. I especially recommend the soup. One of the best I've ever eaten.

On Saturday, November 2, we were with a group of 7 friends in a room at Fort Maarsseveen, where the catering was provided by Pop-up-Paella. We stayed here from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM and all the while we were provided with snacks and drinks by Pop-up-Paella. A few weeks prior to the meeting, we consulted with Jeroen from Pop-up-Paella about our wishes regarding the food. Based on our wishes, he came up with a good proposal with several courses served with something for everyone. Dietary requirements were also taken into account. Everything took place in a nice atmosphere, the service from Jeroen from Pop-up-Paella was really excellent. Definitely recommended to receive tailor-made care and service in a fun and special environment.

Nice place for a snack and a drink. With a south-facing terrace you can also enjoy the sun. At the top of the fort there are studios for artists. Live music once a month.

Nice and armospheric place; great location. But I cannot get over the truly poor quality of their coffee. I am no coffee-snob, not even close. But the coffee here ranked among the least pleasurable ever (and I spent much time in the US, so I know poor coffee). It is so weak and flavorless, that I thought the machine was broken. But apparently, this is how it is served; beyond acceptable.

What a fantastic afternoon and evening we had. The food was very tasty and lovingly made by Jeroen. Very atmospheric to spend time outside, wonderfully rural. Really worth it.

Beautiful place outside maintained by volunteers

Last Sunday 24-08-24 there was an exhibition of Mien-Art-Mandy. Beautiful cliché works and poetry were presented. The location contributed to the atmosphere of the 'war' theme. You really stood still in time. Later there was nice live music and we enjoyed snacks and drinks and the sun. Had a really great day.

We had a team day with our company at Fort Maarsseveen and that was a great success! We ate delicious Paella outside at long tables among the greenery, had an informative and funny tour and delicious tapas with drinks. We were very well looked after by chef Jeroen and the service team all day long I would definitely recommend it!

A great idea, but poorly executed. Staff are very friendly. But has no idea what they are doing. The waiting times were quite long, okay as there were only 2 tables occupied including ourselves. They don't know anything about the coast, not even which gallery it comes from. The toasties were also a disappointment. The ham/cheese is the cheapest available ready-made. And the chorizo ​​has goat's cheese on it, but that's not on the menu, so it wasn't edible. After speaking to the staff about this, nothing happened. In short, a huge disappointment, but fortunately there is a good rest, they still saved the day.

We organized a surprise party/drinks here for my father who turned 75. Everything was actually perfect. The consultation in advance, the location, the communication on the day itself, the atmosphere and especially the fantastic snacks. I have only received positive reactions from the guests. Wonderful place to celebrate your birthday or whatever. It is a wonderful place, especially when the weather is nice, because you can sit outside. When it's very hot, you can also sit nice and cool inside.
