THE chip shop in Nijmegen and the surrounding area! Everyone who works there is super friendly. I've never had to wait long. Definitely recommended.

World-class fries, beautifully crispy, well-salted, and some with the skin on – deliciously rustic. A wide selection of sauces and various mayonnaises, for example, Brander mayonnaise.

The fries are superb in every respect. The biggest surprise for Poles will be the oorlog sauce. The staff is happy to speak English.

Beoordeling / Review (NL / DE) Nijmegen really has lots of fries and it's tough on the best wines. The Friethuys Oer ligt redelijk centraal in the centrum en ziet er modern en schoon uit. Ze snijden en frituren hun eigen aardappelen verse. The price is very important here, it is not good enough for the goods which is acceptable. For a large portion of fries with knoflooks, the price is €5.10. The food was delivered and served, and the verses were fried and served quickly. Qua smaak vond ik ze eerder middelmatig en zeker niet de best die ik dead nu toe in Nijmegen heb had. There was no sign on the door, the door had a bitter taste. The knoflooks from there were really delicious, romig and intense, and the tilde de friet was omhoog. Al met al was ik redelijk tevreden, de portie was vullend maar ik heb al betere fried gegeten. Nijmegen has countless chip shops, and it's hard to find the best one. Friethuys Oer is fairly centrally located and looks modern and clean. They cut and fry their fresh potatoes themselves. The price here is average, not cheap, but acceptable for today's market. I paid €5.10 for a large portion of fries with garlic sauce. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the fresh fries were served quickly. The taste was rather mediocre, and they certainly weren't the best I've had in Nijmegen so far. Since they weren't peeled, the skin left a slightly bitter aftertaste. The garlic sauce, on the other hand, was very tasty, creamy, and intense, and really gave the fries that special something. Overall, I was reasonably satisfied; the portion was filling, but I've had better fries.

It was a sunny day today. We were enjoying the warm weather while shopping in Nijmegen. We got hungry and thought we'd grab some fries. Just to be clear, I'd never eaten here before. But those guys are so stingy. I ordered medium fries with some sauce. The guys working looked perfectly fine, nothing to complain about. I noticed the fries, once fried, were put back in the oil. I found this absolutely unacceptable. Ah, great, apparently this is the norm. Fries are ready, just sprinkle some salt on them and pour them into a paper cone. But here's the thing: one of the guys thought there was too much in the bag, so he tried to scoop some out with his scoop. I thought, "What are we talking about?" "Are you going to count fries?" He scooped out a bit too much, so he added some more. Now there was too much in the bag again, so he scooped some out again. And so it went back and forth. Dude, come on, you're not going to be stingy with 3 or 4 fries. I'll never order anything from here again. I also didn't like the fries at all! But that's just hindsight, of course! It's a shame they count the fries! What does a bag of potatoes cost? You don't pay attention to the number of fries! It's such a shame.

What delicious, freshly made fries! I love coming here for fries, and I'll even go out of my way if I have to. And they're all reasonably priced. Their quality and price really set them apart from other cafeterias.

I'm sorry, the fries looked good, but they tasted awful. They tasted like rancid oil. I had to throw them away.

Found it by chance during a shopping trip to Nijmegen and tried it out. The tables outside have a hole for the fries bag, really cool. Unfortunately, there aren't enough tables. Delicious fries and frikandel special. Homemade fries are really great. Super nice owner.😎👋👍 We'll be back. Visited again in June 2025 and had the fries special and frikandel. Still super nice, 5*

Received poor quality and cold frikandel sandwich for too high a price. Probably recycled from the wall and clearly left out of the fryer for a longer period of time.

The fries were super tasty and some of them still had the peel on them, which of course provided the right crunch 👍 The selection of dishes was very diverse and the prices were reasonable for the quality. The service itself was extremely friendly and I didn't have to wait long for my order 🍟🥤 However, I would recommend taking the food with you as there are not many places to sit on site and it was very loud and full of people right in front of the shop. In any case, the 4.8 stars are honest and I would happily come back.

A small, perfect location to eat delicious fries. These are freshly prepared and a real culinary delight 👌, plus a delicious Frikandel and everything is perfect. The team is really nice and very accommodating, even if Dutch doesn't come easily. There is also the possibility of a few seats. So take a break and enjoy 😉
