Grand Cafe Cornelis in Wijk 00 Epe

We eat here on average four times a year and give a total of five stars. Sure, sometimes it’s a bit less than perfect, but everything is still human work. Last time the sirloin was overcooked, but that was resolved nicely. I’m not going to immediately hand out two stars because of that. People should understand that it is human work, and that it is simply difficult to always do everything perfectly. Anyone with common sense understands that. Yesterday was really top-notch again: the beef tartare was delicious and my husband said the spareribs were delicious this time too!

Just a quick stop during our holiday in Epe. Nice cup of coffee with delicious pastry. Friendly staff.

The food was disappointing; more noodles than pork tenderloin on the plate, and the carpaccio bland and warm. We certainly won't be going back anytime soon, but we did have a nice evening and a lovely ambiance, that's for sure 😉

Very bad experience. We sat outside while it was raining and cold. Even though we had been sitting outside for quite some time, no one took the trouble to ask us what we wanted to order. Attention was paid to other guests, but not to us. They also did not turn on the heating for us, so we sat outside in the cold and rain for a long time. All in all, this was a very disappointing experience. I do not recommend anyone come here.

What a terrible place this was. Extremely arrogant staff where you have to watch what you ask for before you get a deadly glare. Upon entering, we were told by an uninterested man that we could choose our own seats. Ordered food & drinks; the service was clumsy and slow. The food took 40 minutes to arrive. The owner was screaming at the staff in front of the entire restaurant.

Had a good meal, why not 5 stars? I missed the taste of the gorgonzola on the pizza with pear and gorgonzola. It was actually a bit too 'sweet'. The spareribs were very good, though. The portions on the kids' menu were the same. The staff was fine, but it is a busy location, so I would recommend making a reservation if you want to eat between approximately 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Nice, though. But. Please. The sauce does not belong on a pizza. Nor does balsamic cream sauce with the burrata. ....I read your response. However, my point was that no sauce is put on a pizza. You add flavor with herbs and fresh ingredients.

For me, Cornelis is one of those places I go to without thinking twice. Whether I’m just grabbing a cappuccino to go, want to work quietly for a few hours, have a business meeting, or come for an extensive lunch or dinner with my family, it always feels right. What I appreciate so much is that the quality is simply always spot on. The food is delicious, the coffee is good, and the atmosphere is relaxed. You can tell that the team genuinely cares about the guests, and that makes all the difference. The theme nights and activities that are regularly organized also give Cornelis that little extra something. There is always something going on, without it feeling forced. For me, Cornelis is much more than a hospitality establishment. It has become a regular spot where I love to come, both for business and pleasure. If someone asks me where to go in Epe for good coffee, a tasty lunch, a good dinner, or just a nice atmosphere, my answer is always the same: Cornelis.

A beautiful establishment, but the customer service is deeply deplorable. On July 4th, I drove from Apeldoorn to Epe and paid €22.75 for a pizza with extra toppings. At home, it turned out the pizza was very sparsely topped. Since driving back immediately was not an option, we naturally just ate the pizza, but I did send a very polite email with a photo afterwards. In it, I indicated that I liked the place and would like to come back in the future, and I asked for a refund. The response I received was unprecedentedly arrogant. Although they did refund the €4.00 for the toppings, I was literally told: "If this isn't what suits you, then this is probably not the place for you to pick up pizzas." Instead of apologizing for a mistake in the kitchen and welcoming a customer who wanted to come back again, the door is simply shown here. A shameful way to treat guests. Unfortunately, this absolutely no longer invites a return visit.

What a wonderful discovery Cornelis in Epe is. From the moment you step inside, you feel that this is a special place: a beautiful building with an enormous amount of atmosphere, style, and warmth. The hospitality is genuine and heartfelt, and it makes it even better that the owners themselves are on the floor. You can tell from everything how much love, attention, and passion goes into this establishment. Culinarily, Cornelis is also highly recommended. The menu is original and surprising, featuring high-class dishes that are not only beautifully presented but also truly impress in terms of taste. Everything is right here: the ambiance, the service, and the food. A restaurant worth making a detour for, and one we would absolutely love to return to.

Cornelis shows that you don't have to go to Zwolle or Apeldoorn for a fun evening and good food. Hip, atmospheric, friendly staff, and a menu that is always good. Add the fun activities to that, and as far as I'm concerned, you have the best place in the area for tasty and affordable dining.

Really enjoyed myself here! The pizzas here are of absolute top quality! The last time I had such a good pizza was in Naples itself. You don't just expect that level, but they completely live up to it. What really made the evening complete was the service. Salmon with grey pieces. According to Cornelis, that’s not a problem! According to Google, it was cooked too long. Received salmon for the second time, but it was swimming in teriyaki sauce. In short, not a success! Last time the pizza wasn't right either. We won't be eating here again.

We were given a table immediately; it wasn't busy. However, we then had to wait half an hour before our order was taken. Two people had ribeye for €36.50. It is highly questionable whether that piece of meat deserves that name. In both of our cases, half of it consisted of sinew and fat; it was impossible to cut through. Fat is supposed to be largely melted into the meat; sinew has no place in it at all. The staff even got into an argument; we were offered a free coffee, which we refused. They will never see us here again.

We ate here on Wednesday. Inside, because the weather outside was awful. Even hailstones. Delicious bread roll as a starter. My wife had a tasty pizza (a bit too much arugula) and I had spare ribs. People with a small, quiet dog were sitting next to us. We had left the dog at home, assuming she wasn't allowed inside. We checked with the staff: Yes, dogs are allowed inside too. Learned something new.

It was fantastic. We had a delicious meal, and the service was top-notch. We will come back again.

The food is unbelievably superb, but unfortunately, I had a slightly less positive experience this time with a staff member who served us very uninterestedly and listed what was expected of him like a robot. We had a delicious meal at this cozy restaurant. The staff were very friendly. When the door opened, we occasionally felt the cold wind on our legs, but that was because we were sitting close to the door. The starter took a while to arrive, but after that, everything went smoothly.

Had a wonderfully relaxing evening, with full attention for the customer without being at your table all the time. They really understand your needs.

Valentine's Day wasn't recommended... My husband and I are light eaters. Instead of a starter and a main course, we each ordered two starters to enjoy a long, light meal. Unfortunately, the waitress brought all the dishes at once, and our table was piled high with plates. When we commented on this, she said she'd misunderstood and wished us a good meal... At dessert, my husband took his last bite, and I was just served mine. Not very pleasant... A lot also went wrong at the surrounding tables: meat was sent back to the kitchen, and the wrong dishes were served. Drinks took an awfully long time to arrive. We've been coming here for years, but we'll have to forget about that evening.

Hello, I wanted to share something about my visit to Cornelis. I ate here on May 4, 2025, after Remembrance Day. The restaurant was packed, and I got a table upstairs on the balcony. Beautiful spot, lovely view of everything. Unfortunately, the next day I discovered what I should NOT have eaten. I had steak tartare as a starter. When it was served, it looked strange and a bit blue. I ate it, and it tasted strange too...at least not like I'm used to. I mentioned it to the waitress at the table, but she didn't react. Then I had mushroom risotto, which was very tasty! The trouble the next day started early; I felt unwell and nauseous. After another hour, everything came back up, and it continued all day. Food poisoning, if you ask me. I was quite ill for three days. I called the owner, and she told me I was the first person this had happened to. It's possible, of course. I do want to warn people, though: if something doesn't look or taste like it should, DON'T EAT IT! That goes for any restaurant, of course. I do believe they've learned their lesson. Steak tartare is NO longer on the menu. Otherwise, this restaurant was okay, and the risotto was excellent. p.s. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the dish in question.

Had a spontaneous meal today. Called ahead and was immediately helped in a friendly manner. The food was very good and of very high quality. Highly recommended! Tip: sharpen the knives a bit.

Great place. We had dinner there on Christmas Eve on the first floor. The service was a bit chaotic at first, but it was quickly resolved. At one point, it got very crowded upstairs, and we left because of the acoustics/noise. But nobody can do anything about that. Great place, reasonable prices, and friendly staff.

After thoroughly enjoying our Easter brunch here, we decided to try the Christmas brunch as well. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. While the Easter brunch consisted of well-coordinated dishes, the Christmas brunch felt disjointed. The stew and salad were tasty, but the other dishes clearly lacked depth. The bread served also added little to the overall experience and didn't fit well with the concept. The service, however, was friendly and attentive, which we definitely want to mention. We also liked the idea of ​​the Christmas photo, which is both creative and entertaining, although it does raise some questions regarding GDPR and privacy. The Christmas brunch concept is appealing, but the execution leaves much room for improvement. Hopefully, lessons will be learned from this in the future.

At the invitation of a friend, my husband and I had lunch at this restaurant. It was a nice restaurant, but quite crowded. Everyone did their best to cope with the crowd. They were partially successful. It took a while for coffee to arrive, but lunch was served more quickly and was delicious. The staff was fresh, young, and friendly. We will definitely be back.

There was a problem with the gas supply, which naturally made cooking difficult. However, a modified menu was available, providing a varied menu that, in our opinion, was truly a full-fledged one. It's impressive how quickly they resolved this. The restaurant has two floors and is spacious, so you don't have your chair touching your neighbor's. Yet, the decor was still cozy, quite sleek but still warm. The food was delicious and definitely a reason to return. And this Grand Café is beautifully located in the center of Epe.

The "Extraordinary Fries" are definitely recommended (also great for sharing with drinks or something!), as were the tuna tataki salad and lamb curry. 👌 The atmosphere is lovely, with high ceilings and plenty of space around your table. The staff were clearly busy and working hard; kudos to the guests for the personal touch despite the crowd. Thanks for a great night out, and we'll definitely see you again!

Nice place, packed, but excellent service. That's not the problem. The wrong beer I ordered was exchanged without any problems. After waiting over an hour, the main course arrived. My partner had the salmon gnocchi. They were disappointing. It didn't have much flavor. A shame. Then there's the ribeye (€36.50!), you expect something. My jaw is still aching. I ordered medium and got rare. I'll nibble on it, though. Grandma's dessert was fine.

After being seated, it took ages for anyone to come to us, while three girls hovered at the counter and didn't serve anyone. Only when we spoke to someone were we able to order our first drink and ask for the menu. Then it took another long time to get the menu, while the girl we asked for it kept walking past us and then hovering at the counter again. Why didn't they give us a menu right away? We didn't get any sugar with our coffee, and it took another effort to speak to someone to ask for it. The same thing happened when we wanted salt with our food. Every time we wanted to order something or needed something, we had to struggle to speak to someone, while there were always one to three girls hovering at the counter just a few meters away. Even when we made eye contact, they simply looked away. While they were friendly when serving, they were very inattentive and completely disinterested. They showed little regard for the customers. What a shame.
