Grand Cafe Cornelis in Wijk 00 Epe

After thoroughly enjoying our Easter brunch here, we decided to try the Christmas brunch as well. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. While the Easter brunch consisted of well-coordinated dishes, the Christmas brunch felt disjointed. The stew and salad were tasty, but the other dishes clearly lacked depth. The bread served also added little to the overall experience and didn't fit well with the concept. The service, however, was friendly and attentive, which we definitely want to mention. We also liked the idea of ​​the Christmas photo, which is both creative and engaging, although it does raise some questions regarding GDPR and privacy. The Christmas brunch concept is appealing, but the execution leaves much room for improvement. Hopefully, lessons will be learned from this in the future.

At the invitation of a friend, my husband and I had lunch at this restaurant. It was a nice restaurant, but quite crowded. Everyone did their best to cope with the crowd. They were partially successful. It took a while for coffee to arrive, but lunch was served more quickly and was delicious. The staff was fresh, young, and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Delicious food, very hospitable

There was a problem with the gas supply, which naturally made cooking difficult. However, a modified menu was available, providing a varied menu that, in our opinion, was truly a full-fledged one. It's impressive how quickly they resolved this. The restaurant has two floors and is spacious, so you don't have your chair touching your neighbor's. Yet, the decor was still cozy, quite sleek but still warm. The food was delicious and definitely a reason to return. And this Grand Café is beautifully located in the center of Epe.

The food was truly delicious. The service was cheerful and professional, well-informed about all the options. They have a separate allergens menu, with many additional options to accommodate your allergy. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and will definitely be back.

It was packed during the summer market, but the service was fast and super friendly. The food was delicious! A real treat.

We had a wonderful meal and Gerjan was incredibly helpful. The "Extraordinary Fries" are definitely recommended (also great for sharing with drinks or something!), as were the tuna tataki salad and lamb curry. 👌 The atmosphere is lovely, with high ceilings and plenty of space around your table. The staff were clearly busy and working hard; kudos to the guests for the personal touch despite the crowd. Thanks for a great night out, and we'll definitely see you again!

Nice place, packed, but excellent service. That's not the problem. The wrong beer I ordered was exchanged without any problems. After waiting over an hour, the main course arrived. My partner had the salmon gnocchi. They were disappointing. It didn't have much flavor. A shame. Then there's the ribeye (€36.50!), you expect something. My jaw is still aching. I ordered medium and got rare. I'll nibble on it, though. Grandma's dessert was fine.

Beautiful restaurant and delicious food. But the experience was overshadowed by the staff. After being seated, it took ages for anyone to come to us, while three girls hovered at the counter and didn't serve anyone. Only when we spoke to someone were we able to order our first drink and ask for the menu. Then it took another long time to get the menu, while the girl we asked for it kept walking past us and then hovering at the counter again. Why didn't they give us a menu right away? We didn't get any sugar with our coffee, and it took another effort to speak to someone to ask for it. The same thing happened when we wanted salt with our food. Every time we wanted to order something or needed something, we had to struggle to speak to someone, while there were always one to three girls hovering at the counter just a few meters away. Even when we made eye contact, they simply looked away. While they were friendly when serving, they were very inattentive and completely disinterested. They showed little regard for the customers. What a shame.

Super nice ambiance! The service is friendly and pleasant. Even the restrooms look nice and smell fantastic 🤩 We went there with our children for hot chocolate and matcha latte. Both were delicious and well-made. They also serve food, but unfortunately, we were only there for a short time. I would have liked to eat there. They have pizza, salads, burgers, nachos, cakes, and some snacks. There are a wide selection of drinks, including homemade lemonade, which they also offer in bottles to take away. I was generally very disappointed with the food in the Netherlands, as it was barely tasty and expensive. But I would have loved to eat at Cornelis. Unfortunately, we only discovered this café shortly before our departure. See you next time! 😊

Latte macchiato prima net als de carrot cake Toilet keurig maar mijn negativiteit zit ‘m in de bediening . Zie mijn opmerking meer als tip : zodra je cake op is wordt het bordje al weggetrokken v je tafel. Dit voelt niet fijn. Vooral niet als ook gezegd wordt : kan ik nog iets betekenen voor u terwijl mijn glas nog voor 1/4e vol is. Het geeft je het gevoel weggekeken te worden ! Denk dat het beter is iemand gewoon even te laten zitten zonder spullen weg te trekken als je nog koffie hebt. Mijn lepeltje nam ze ook mee. Ik erachteraan en nieuw lepeltje gevraagd. Niet fijn zo.

We ate here with a group. Delicious dishes to choose from and they also have a very good menu for the children. Not the standard "chicken nuggets with fries", but a piece of fish or meat. The whole group had a delicious meal and it is a nice restaurant to sit.

What a great place! The staff is super friendly and the nachos are delicious, and really generous in size. There is a huge selection of drinks, something for everyone. The atmosphere is great both inside and outside on the terrace. And of course also noticed the interesting lamp.

Delicious lunch this afternoon, very nice tent and very atmospheric, friendly and delicious food. Mustard soup was wonderfully creamy and the juicy burger with sweet potato fries and truffle mayonnaise tasted very good. Worth repeating!

First meeting with 'Cornelis'. The website looked promising and that was certainly fulfilled during our visit. Fullhouse and that already gives a great atmosphere. Nice team members at our table. alert and hats off to their continuous service, because they cover a lot of ground and have quite a few tables under their care. Still time for a short chat about the wine, for example. Dishes were top notch, well prepared and surprising. One critical point? When you offer a 3-course menu, put it together without additional payments. It was more than worth the money, but seems strange, we had not seen or heard it (only looked at the receipt and my dinner guest felt bad). An evening to frame and I will add Cornelis to the favorites! NB No photo was taken, so it fits the bottle of red wine ;-)

On our way home from Groningen in Arnhem, we took the Epe exit to have something to eat for lunch. We ended up at Cornelis and that was a good choice. Very tasty food, friendly staff in a beautiful setting.

Beautiful grand café with delicious drinks and food. The staff is very friendly and happy to have a conversation. The only downside I can mention is that drinks can sometimes take a little longer, but that is often because it is a bit busier.

Wat een beroerd slecht eten. Tournedos was taai en niet warm. Groente was niet warm en bijna rauw. Bovendien veel te prijzig. Alleen de wijn was lekker.

Na hier eerder deze week lekker geluncht te hebben, nu ook gedineerd. De drukke, maar sfeervolle zaak is gezellig. De jonge bediening werkt prima. Tonijn als voorgerecht: prima stukje vis met lekkere entourage. De pastagerechten waren eveneens heerlijk op smaak. Lekker glaasje wijn erbij… Kortom: een prima eetcafé!

Had some nice beers on the terrace

First and last time. On a Friday around lunchtime, downstairs is already packed, staff are slow to welcome you, mostly busy messing around the bar and talking into their earphones. Above a place, cozy atmosphere, beautiful decor, nice light. We didn't have too much time and after consultation (again, using our ears) with the kitchen, we quickly got ome cor (nothing special, bread not really fresh) and croquettes on bread (again, not good bread). The coffees were delicious. Young lady did not seem very friendly, too busy (talking in her ears, among other things). Then pay downstairs. 6 things on the receipt, repeating 4 times that we really only had two coffees. Once again a lot of talking in our ears, an irritatingly long wait, insisting on making a suitable receipt and unfortunately, no tip at all. All in all: nice place, too few staff, too little feeling for the customer, too busy with peripheral matters and those terrible earphones. That makes it very inhospitable. And around me I heard the same thing. So room for improvement because man oh man what a beautiful thing!

For my wife's birthday! The starter was good. Had to wait a long time for the main course. Food was not warm. As compensation, a cup of coffee and a cappuccino. Wasn't warm either. In short, there are still some areas for improvement, especially price-wise. I wouldn't recommend 123.

Zaterdagmiddag was erg druk. Half uur moeten wachten op 2 koude cappuccino's. Gebakjes kwamen helemaal niet. Na 3 kwartier niet langer gewacht. Wel de volle prijs voor 2 koude cappuccino's moeten betalen.

Bad bouncer for too much money. Baked too short (drilly), no garnish or salad on the side, bread crusts too hard. Not worth repeating for us unfortunately. And I really don't think smoking on the terrace is allowed anymore.

Went here on the spur of the moment. The restaurant/cafe is very attractively decorated, you can look right into the kitchen. The staff is friendly and helpful, certainly nice to have a chat with. The food is also great, we had a delicious chicken burger, which was richly filled with goodies! The mussels in wine sauce were also highly recommended! You should definitely try pastries you won't forget!

De service was echt top, de sfeer optimaal. Hier snappen ze hoe het moet. Heerlijk gegeten en voor ieder wat wils!! Wij komen zeker nog regelmatig terug. Echt een aanrader als je in de buurt van Epe bent.

Een paar stukjes gekookte kipfilet in een laf vettig room(?)sausje op een broodje smakken en dat pulled chicken noemen is toch echt niet okay. Het was ook erg weinig, maar omdat het niet lekker was, ook niet opgegeten. Ik kreeg een ander drankje geserveerd dan ik besteld had, en toen ik de serveerster daarop attendeerde, haalde ze haar schouders op, klantvriendelijk is anders. Heb uiteindelijk betaald voor het drankje wat ik niet gekregen heb, omdat dat goedkoper was dan wat ik geserveerd heb gekregen. De patat was duidelijk een tweede x in de frituur gekwakt voor dat het geserveerd was. Het was donker en erg hard.

Ontzettend druk. Kok kon het blijkbaar niet aan. een uur en 3 kwartier wachten op o.a. pizza. Jonge bediening deed uiterste best en vond het ook vervelend dat het zo lang duurde. Maar geen nagerecht genomen. goede pizza, spare rib en zalm goed maar niet bijzonder.

Insanely delicious food! Tasty beers on tap. There was enough staff, but after half an hour with empty glasses we had to take action ourselves to order dessert and some drinks... That detracts from the experience. Just like the dirty toilets. You don't expect that from an establishment with good food. Enough room for improvement.

As an experienced bouncer eater (twice a week) I also ordered a bouncer here, based on my experience I can only say that the bouncer I ate was far from special. In other words I was very disappointed. There was no garnish. So not recommended.
